Our waters, filtered by hundreds of square miles of bullrushes, provide a safe and fun place to swim, fish, and boat. Our majestic coniferous forests are wilderness parks filled with amazing wildlife.

Fishing is among the greatest attractions in the area, with ample opportunities to fish large & smallmouth bass, walleye, lake trout, pike, muskie, crappie and more!
Let this be your guide to a fun-filled day on the eastern shores of Lake of the Woods. There is much to see and do in The Township of Sioux Narrows-Nestor Falls, so let’s get started. If you Google the Township right now, you’ll come across images of pristine wilderness and small-town sites that seem to be lifted right out of a fairytale.
Stuff To Do #getoutdoors #walkatrail #packapicniclunch
SIOUX NARROWS
12
Throw a frisbee. Go kayaking. Eat some s’mores. Start and end the day in the great outdoors. There are day-use areas, picnic shelters, and pristine beaches to enjoy at Sioux Narrows Provincial Park and Caliper Lake Provincial Park. In between, treat yourself to a day chock-a-block full of shopping, eating, and soaking up the small-town charm that stakes a claim on the idea that “bigger isn’t always better”.
Stuff To See
#artsfestivalinsiouxnarrows #moosenfiddleinnestorfalls Two great events in August, starting on the long weekend with the Arts Festival in Sioux Narrows: a rare opportunity to purchase arts and crafts directly from the artisans. Come see why artists keep returning to the Arts Festival in Sioux Narrows, year after year! And, “This Cool Little Festival” returns to Nestor Falls August 16–18. Join us at 14 Chairs on August 16, for an evening of acoustic music in the ON THE ROCK tiny studio, just up the hill from the Travel Centre in Nestor Falls. On August 17 & 18 the sights and sounds of the Moose n Fiddle Music Festival come to life at beautiful Caliper Lake Provincial Park: festival-goers will be treated to amazing music, tasty food-truck fare, fresh local handcrafted beer, and the unique offerings from crafters-of-all-sorts in the artisans village.
Stuff To Eat
#casualdining #cocktailsonthepatio #pizzatogo
By land or by water—there is something for everyone in Sioux Narrows and Nestor Falls. We’re sure you’ll agree that a visit is in store. The mere mention of “stuff to eat” evokes the thought of fish n chips, ice-cream stands, and shoreline lunches. From sun-up to sun-down, there are madgenius chefs and mixologists cooking up amazing dishes and classic cocktails.
White Moose Golf Course
Northern Ontario Sportfishing Centre
Touted as one of the Top 14 golf courses in Northwestern Ontario, the White Moose Golf Course, carved out of the Whiskey Jack Forest, is a 9-hole, par-35 course. The next time you are a planning a day-trip, book a tee time, take a drive along the King’s Highway (#71), and don’t forget to pack a set of golf clubs.
Take a step back in time at the Northern Ontario Sportfishing Centre (NOSFC) and explore the history and heritage of the region. Here you will find de Havilland float planes, a replica of a Boston Whaler, and the Sioux Narrows wood truss bridge, in miniature and built to scale.

A modern pow-wow is a specific type of event where both Native American and non-Native American people meet to dance, sing, socialize, and honour Aboriginal culture. Pow-wows vary in length from one day sessions of five to six hours to three days; however, major pow-wows called for a special occasion can be up to one week long. The Rainy River District is rich in First Nations culture. The modern pow-wow is an exciting way to experience First Nations’ dance, music, food and art. These celebrations can be traditional or competitive, and many of them are open to the public, both Indigenous and non-Indigenous. Costumes are bright and colourful regalia, decorated with feathers, fringe, bells and other material to signify Indigenous spirituality, history and culture through the style of dance. Accompanying the dancers are the pow-wow drummers and singers, who not only entertain, but help to tell stories about personal and cultural history. After the Circle is blessed by a spiritual leader, the pow-wow begins, providing entertainment and cultural history everyone will enjoy.

The birch bark canoe was the main mode of transporting goods vast distances via waterways. Created by the Aboriginals that inhabited the lands, the birch bark canoes were later used by the voyageurs. The voyageurs, fur traders of European descent, traded European goods with Aboriginals for beaver and other animal pelts. A birch bark canoe is on display at the Fort Frances Museum, located on Scott Street in Fort Frances.
