Sarah Geronimo
D
The Star who has it all
eemed ‘Most Beautiful Celebrity’ of 2014 by Yes! Magazine, knowing the basis is not just the skin-deep-type-of-beauty rather what is “in the heart”. Who would doubt that Sarah Geronimo really has it all?
From being a singer, even bagging the ‘Popstar Princess of the Philippines’ title, one of the youngest and most successful artist in the whole of Asia, to being one of the top-billed actresses in the industry, a favorite endorser, a coach and an advocate of education, yes, this woman does it like a ‘jack-of-all-trades’.
Following her winning is her first solo album titled, ‘Popstar: A Dream Come True’ which immediately became the best selling debut album of all time in the Philippines. And from there… many more, a lot more followed!
“
Sarah gained more popularity when she transferred and signed a contract with ABS-CBN in 2004 where she appeared in several TV shows, had her own soap opera, and later on ventured in filmography when she starred in ‘A Very Special Love’ in 2004. 6

pag may pagmamahal sa Panginoon, every good thing follows. Kung anong lumalabas sa mata mo, sa bibigmo, sa galaw mo, nagiging maganda lahat.”
“
But mind you, she didn’t come from a family of actors nor was she rich or someone who has a foreign blood, yeah, the stereotyped-kind-of-celebrity in the country. No, none of those. But Sarah Geronimo came from a simple family living in Sta. Cruz, Manila. She gained popularity after winning the ‘Star of the Night’ competition in 2003.

In her personal Facebook account, the popstar said, “One wish that I long for is to be an inspiration to this generation. I impart my talents because this is what He blessed me. We are all inspiration. Keep up and have faith from above!” And she did it; she is doing it and no signs that she is to end it. Ever wonder why she gets too much and yet managed to keep her feet firm on the ground? Simply because she is very family-oriented and God-fearing. Sarah shares in her website, “Kapag merong goodness sa heart mo, pag may pagmamahal sa Panginoon, every good thing follows. Kung anong lumalabas sa mata mo, sa bibigmo, sa galaw mo, nagiging maganda lahat.” Truth to what she said, Sarah G
was one of those artist who bagged the most award in all her years in showbiz. She received the ‘Most Promising Performer’ award from the AliwAwards in 2004. In the same year, she also took home the Excellence Top Entertainer Award as “Best Female Young Artist of the Year”. In 2005, she received the Gawad America citation of “Female Entertainer of the Year”. Those were but to name a few. Not only does she have a blossoming career, Sarah G’s love life is also on its tops. The multi-faceted artist is now in a relationship with actor-racer MatteoGuidicelli. Just this July, the two admitted that they are together. In a presscon, Sarah said, “Kailangan talaga alam natin kungpaanopag-ingatan ang sarili natin. Of course we are not perfect. Mga

tao tayo, at mga babae tayo. And part of loving is being with that someone. Iba talaga yun e, kapag kasama mo siya.Pero importantengmatutunanmoyung self-control. Unang-unasa lahat, yung faith mo sa Diyos na hindi dapatminamadali ang mga bagay-bagay.” To which Guidicelli answered in a different event, “Sarah reminds me to stay grounded all the time, to keep simple all the time. Sarah’s Sarah, but when you’re with her, you don’t even think she’s Sarah, ‘di ba. Pag kasama ko siya sa isang table, nakakalimot po ako na si Sarah pala ‘yon. It never hits me that she’s a superstar, ‘diba.” The two, though both a celebrity, choses to keep their relationship at par to the media’s eyes. So, wouldn’t you agree that Sarah Geronimo, just about to turn 26, really has it all? 7

Solenn Heussaff believes that marriage is not necessary to ‘settle down’. The 29-year-old actress was asked by the reporters on what age she intends to settle down with her boyfriend, Argentine businessman Nico Bolzico. Heussaff answered, “Settled down na naman ako, almost three years nag-li-live in na kami. Pag may Hindi ako pressured. Siyempre naman, it’s every girl’s dream, but if singsing, same, wala namang mag-iiba.” Asked if she still hopes to walk down the aisle, she quips, “If it doesn’t happen now, hindi ako iiyak.”
Solenn sees self as someone who already ‘settled down’
If ever the ‘big day’ happens, Heussaff said she would want to have the ceremony done in another country with only family and friends in attendance. “Pag magkasal ako, sa abroad for sure, kasi gusto ko maliit ‘yung wedding,” she said. “Ayoko mag-invite ng mga hindi close. Kahit sa family ko, I’m not so close to everyone, so gusto ko lang 60 people sa wedding. Thirty sa side ko, 30 sa side niya.” On another note, Solenn’s brother, food blogger-entrepreneur, Erwan Heussaff is happily and is in a going-stronger-relationship with Anne Curtis. They have been together for four years and a half year now.

5-year-old Mommy Dionisia, mother of the ‘People’s Champ’ is living under the same roof with her 40-year-old boyfriend, according to her son, Manny. ‘Pacman’ revealed the information during an interview with Anthony Taberna on “Tapatan Ni Tunying” which aired last July 31 adding that her mother even plans on getting married to her boyfriend. Manny did not immediately divulge the status of his mother’s lovelife saying, “Mahirap magbigay ng komento.” But when asked about the man’s identity, Pacman said that he is turning 40 and is a Cebuano. Adding, “Kasama nga niya eh. Kasama niya palagi.” “Mommy ko, sinabihan ko siya, sabi ko, ‘Ikaw na bahala. Hindi naman kita mapilit. Sundin mo ‘yung gusto ng
katawan mo, ang desire ng flesh, or sundin mo ang gusto ng Panginoon?,” he advised his mother. Although he leaves the decision to his mother, he still is against his mother’s intention to walk the aisle for the second time. “Si Mama at saka si Papa, hindi sila kasal. Si Mama at saka ‘yung unang asawa, kasal sila,” he said, saying that Mommy D’s first husband is still alive. Mommy D has two older children from her previous marriage and four children with Rosalio Pacquiao—her partner of 20 years before they separated. But when interviewed by ABS-CBN, Mommy D denied that she is in a relationship but says it’s natural for her to have lots of suitors.

A
ctress Linday Lohan is “finally turning her life around,” as per the reports. The 28-year-old has become the talk of the town and is better known for being a party animal than an actress in recent years. Yahoo! Philippines says, “But after it was announced that she will be making her debut in London’s West End in Speed-the-Plough, Lindsay is reportedly keen to show that she is committed to her career.” “She’s finally turning her life around,” an insider told British magazine Heat. “Linds says she’s going to prove herself as the star of this play. It’s a way to show everyone that she’s ready to work again - and actually be good.”
“I want to be known for my talents and my work that I create, rather than a tabloid sensation,” Lohan recently told the BBC. Lohan hasn’t escaped the rumors of her being addicted to drugs. But sources say she switched to a different diet than “cigarettes and booze.” “She’s gained 15lbs in the last two months eating non-stop pizza and pasta,” a friend of hers told Heat. “It’s not very healthy, but it’s better than her previous diet of booze!” Yahoo! PH reports: “Lindsay will make her debut in September and will be performing on stage for ten weeks.”

A
ward-winning actress Sandra Bullock is Hollywood’s highest paid actress with estimated earnings of $51 million over 12 months. The 50-year-old Bullock space thriller movie “Gravity” had won several Academy Awards including best director for Alfonso Cuaron and made more than $716 million worldwide. “Forbes compiled the list by estimating earnings from the actresses’ film work, endorsements, residuals and advertising work, and by talking to agents, managers and lawyers.” – mb.com.ph The daily online newspaper also stated that, “Although all of the actresses pulled in hefty incomes, Forbes said women still earn less then men in Hollywood. While the 10 highest earning actors took home a combined total of $419 million, Hollywood’s 10 best paid actresses made a total of $226 million during the same time period.”

Finding home in the little village of Pula, Ifugao W hy do you wander? I’ve also asked myself that question for the most number of times. When I got to Pula, Ifugao, I have found some of the answers. Pula reminds me of this: “it’s not down in any maps…real places never are.”
The kids and their teacher greeted me in their dialect and so I observed, listened and smiled – I didn’t understand any word at all. Then, a little conversation I had with the teacher after the class made me feel a bit sad.
While on the road, I watched people and how they moved in their daily lives.
As the story melted inside, the mountains appeared before me so slowly in the afternoon.
I’ve experienced how amazing the motorbike drivers really are when we had to reach very

And, in most urban areas, expensive coffee shops tend to magnet customers endlessly.
There were not too many people walking around taking pictures of almost anything and everything.
Trekking made me feel as if I was walking in some unknown land yet treading towards home – which has just been coated by lonely cities, thick smog and enormous commercialism.
In the afternoon, I walked to the kindergarten school where Mark’s playground project stood.

Getting there was a long journey. From Manila, we had to catch the bus and get off at Bagabag, Nueva Vizcaya (approximately 8 hours) and enjoyed a misty jeepney ride from Bagabag to Lagawe, Ifugao (1.5 hours). From Lagawe, we took the muddy motorbike ride to Pula (2 hours). As someone from the Visayas, it’s always an unfolding to see the other provinces of the archipelago.

Lutong Nanay: SIOMAI Siomai had always been one of the favourite pica-pica food of all times and different types of it have mushroomed all over, from Japanese siomai, to tuna siomai and now, our very own Mrs. Z is giving you a healthier version of it, the Healthy Chicken and Tofu Siomai.
NANAY NOTES: The recipe
replaces ground pork with ground chicken and tofu. This substitution lowers down the animal fat content of this typical mini-cardiac bomb- delight! Now we can feed our family without worrying about their cardiovascular health. When put into soups with noodles, siomai can easily be turned into wonton soup! Add a liitle bit of egg noodles, vegetables and fried garlic – instant dish number 2 perfect for snack or light dinner…
Ingredients
Directions
Healthy Chicken and Tofu Siomai 1 lbs. ground chicken 1 cup medium firm tofu 1 large white onion (finely chopped) 3 sprigs of onion leek (finely chopped) 1 medium size carrot (finely chopped) (preferably organic) 1 pack round wonton wrapper 2 tbsp. grade A soy sauce (Kimlan brand) 1 egg ¼ tsp. Sesame oil Pepper and Himalayan pink salt (according to taste)
In a electric chopper or food processor, finely chopped onion, carrot and onion leek. Put all ingredients in a bowl except the wonton wrappers. Mix well using both hands. Set aside. Individually wrap about half a teaspoon of the mixture. Close the wonton wrapper using a little bit of water. Place the “siomai” in a steamer. Brush the steamer with a liitle bit of oil to prevent the siomai from sticking unto the bottom. Steam for 25- 30 minutes. Serve with low salt soy sauce with chili and calamansi (lime or lemon will do in the absence of calamansi).
