The FIM Europe Congress kicked off in Nantes (France), with the scheduled meetings of the Sporting and NonSporting Councils.

In the Sporting Council relevant issues were discussed with the Chairmen of the various Commissions. The reports of the latest activities of all disciplines were analysed at the presence of FIM Europe President Dr Wolfgang Srb, of FIM Europe 1st Deputy President and Chairman of Sporting Council Martin de Graaff, of Michal Sikora, FIM Europe Treasurer.

A meeting with the Non Sporting Commissions was held, to analyse the activities of the latest period in

order to share the same level of knowledge of the various issues. It was a good occasion to arouse a brainstorming, so that every chairman could bring his knowhow and enrich the discussion with his point of view. Some of the issues discussed will be further analysed during the next day’s Commissions meetings. The whole day the delegates continued to arrive at the Westotel Nantes Atlantique, where the Congress was being held, with the organization of the FFM.

For Day 2 the program foresees the Meetings of the Management Council, Commissions and Panels, the Road Safety Conference and the Meeting with the Secretaries General.

The topic of this year’s Road Safety Conference is: “Electric Mobility: from Racing to Riding the Roads”, dealing with the development of electronics and technology. After the welcome speech of Mr Jean-Pierre Moreau, Chairman of Public Affairs Commission, Mr Silvio Manicardi will explain ‘Why a

Conference on electric motorcycles in Europe?’. The speech will be followed by Mr John Chatterton Ross’ speech on ‘Current issues facing motorcycling from Brussels’; Mr Sébastien Poirier, Directeur Général of the Fédération Française de Motocyclisme will talk about the situation of Motorcycling in France. The second day of FIM Europe Congress was held in Nantes, France. As scheduled, the Management Council was held, so as the Meetings of the Commissions and Panels. In the afternoon, the Road Safety Conference took place, which was very successful, with big attendance of delegates and media.

The topic of this year was: “Electric Mobility: from Racing to Riding the Roads”, dealing with the development of electronics and technology. After the welcome speech of Mr Jean-Pierre Moreau, Chairman of Public Affairs Commission, FIM Europe 2nd Vice-President Mr Silvio Manicardi explained ‘Why a Conference on electric

The Road Safety Conference was broadcasted in live streaming on the FIM Europe website www.fim-europe.com. The day ended with the traditional meeting of the Secretaries General, conducted by FIM Europe Secretary General Alessandro Sambuco, where various issues were discussed: Institutional communications from FIM and from FMNs and leisure contents about Touring initiatives.

The meeting saw the interventions of Alessandro Sambuco, FIM Europe Secretary General, with the report of FIM Europe Club Blois 2017, of Damiano Zamana, FIM Programmes Director, about “FIM funds for the development of motorcycling”, of Kurt Ljungqvist, SML Secretary General, with “Proposal for European Open Events”, of Panagiotis Kalaitzis, Member of FIM Touring and Leisure Commission, about FIM Europe Club Ioannina 2018 and of Igor Boskovic, FIM Europe Vintage Commission Chairman, who presented for FIM Europe

Club Croatia 2019 and by Nils Freivald, FIM Europe Touring Commission Chairman with the presentation of the “Motorcycle Friendly Hotels”. Thj the Congress will live its third day and the program will start with the Sporting and Non-Sporting Council Meetings, followed by the Management Council. In the afternoon the General Assembly will take place and it will be broadcasted in live streaming in FIM Europe website www.fimeurope.com.

The 24th FIM Europe Congress in Nantes (France) finished successfully with the Meetings of the Sporting and Non-Sporting Councils, the Management Council as well as the General Assembly in the afternoon. There were 40 National Federations present and over 250 delegates. The FFM President Jacques Bolle welcomed the delegates to Nantes. The FIM President Vito Ippolito addressed the audience and referred especially to the future tasks of FIM and FIM Europe in the years to come. Important decisions were taken, among them the approval of the 2017 Balance-sheet and of the 2018 Budget. Comprehensive reports have been presented about the Sporting as well the Non-Sporting activities. During the General Assembly there were the reports

of Martin de Graaff, Michal Sikora, Silvio Manicardi and Laurent Delbroek. Since the period 2014-2018 was over, the Congress was elective and there were two candidates for the position of FIM Europe President, 11 candidates for 8 positions of FIM Europe Vice28

Presidents, 3 candidates for the election of FIM Europe Auditors and 6 candidates for the election of 5 members of the Judicial Panel. Dr. Wolfgang Srb was confirmed as FIM Europe President with 59 votes, against 9 votes of Stelios Korelis, President of AMOTOE.

As for the Vice-Presidents positions, Martin de Graaff, JeanMarc Desnues, Juhani Halme, Martins Lazdovskis, Silvio Manicardi, Nicoleta Olariu, Michal Sikora and Jan Stovicek were elected. As for the 3 auditors, Laurent Delbroek, Vadym Kopylov and FIM Europe Mag 4/2018


Tapio Nevala were elected per acclamationem. The 5 members of the Judicial Panel who have been elected are Jiri Janak, Manuel Marinheiro, Theodoros Rachiotis, Rodolfo Romeo and Hannu Toumainen. «I am very pleased with the reFIM Europe Mag 4/2018

sults of the Congress in Nantes, where important decisions have been taken and I am grateful to the European Federations for my re-election as FIM Europe President», Dr Wolfgang Srb stated. «The cooperation during all these days was excellent and there was a pleasant atmo-

sphere for all the delegates. Nantes was a delicious venue and FFM was a great host». The 25th edition of the FIM Europe Congress will take place from 4th to 6th July in Zagreb (Croatia).

FIM Europe Congress Day 4 The 24th edition of the FIM Europe Congress, held in Nantes (France), lived an exceptional Day 4, which happens every four years, after the elections of the new Management Council. The members elected - or re-elected the day before are Dr Wolfgang Srb, Martin de Graaff, Jean-Marc Desnues, Juhani Halme, Martins Lazdovskis, Silvio Manicardi, Nicoleta Olariu, Michal Sikora and Jan Stovicek. the appointment of the Secretary General Alessandro Sambuco, the appointment of the Chairman of the Judicial Panel Rodolfo Romeo, and the division of duties among the Vice-Presidents. «The work of the Management Council is, just the day after the General Assembly, already in full swing», FIM Europe President Dr Wolfgang Srb stated. «The members are all highly motivated and ready to carry out their duties for the European Federations. On the way to Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, Austria, MotoGP stars Marc Marquez (Honda) and Bradley Smith (KTM) took part in a press conference in Vienna at the headquarters of Österreichischer Automobil, Motorrad und Touring Club (ÖAMTC), in the presence of Austrian Federal Minister for Transport, Innovation and Technology Mr. Norbert Hofer, to support the campaign “No Ride without Training”, promoting safe motorcycle riding on the roads. Both riders underlined the necessity of preparation before riding as well as always wearing a proper gear. Road safety is a top priority of ÖAMTC, running serveral driving safety centers in Austria, as well for the Austrian Government and the Austrian Motorcycle Association (arge2Rad). Multi-times World Champion Marc Marquez stated: "Racing on the top level and training hard do not guarantee a save ride. On the road pay maximum attention and follow the advice of the best professionals“.
