15+ Black (Novel) Synopsis Leo is sixteen and has recently joined a neo-Nazi youth group. One night, in a park, a stunt ends in tragedy: a guy dies burned alive for an action got out of hand. The boys hide the corpse, they cancel evidences. Did someone see them? Maybe. The group breaks up. But Leo's life changes completely: he begins to hide, to avoid the others; he feels the sign of his secret marked on his forehead. He withdraws slowly into himself, leaving just a small opening for Sara, a new girl at school, with whom he starts building a deep and special relationship. But as this relationship grows Leo feels more and more fragile and exposed. If she should find out the truth, Leo would lose the only thing he can still cling to. It is time for a choice. And to stop running. A Bildungsroman, a novel of formation: a story that depicts the dynamics of a gang, the fragility of adolescence, and the need to choose, not only between right and wrong but between what we are and what we want to become.
Excerpt I feel Ferenc next to me. He lengthens his stride trying not to end up face down on the lawn. He laughs, like an idiot, and I laugh too, as I watch him and as I continue to run, while our quarry, ahead, stops against the closed gate. Now he is trapped. We approach him. Panting. Teo arrives and beckons us. The prey is grounded. He is crying, crying like a wimp. “Come on, guys ...” he says, covering his head with his hands. “Shut up!” cries Teo. “Just shut up!” He smiles, the bottle still in his hand. And he takes the lighter out of his pocket.
