“Mom, why the animals of the farm call me "Chick" ?” ”Because you are a chick, my little chick !” answers Mom Hen. ”And when I grow up, shall I still be a chick ?” “No my little chick ! You will be a rooster like your father.”
“And what do the roosters do ?” worries Chick. “In the morning, when the sun gets up, they sing to wake the animals and the farmer”, answers Mom Hen. “I don’t want to be a cock when I grow up !” “Really ?” wonders Mom Hen. “And what do you want to be when you grow up ?” “I want to be an emperor !” says Chick. “All right my little emperor, all right ! I am going to say it to the animals of the farm.”
On his way, Chick meets the cat of the farmer. “Hello Cat !” he squeals. “I came to tell you that I’ll be an emperor when I grow up.” “Then you have to say to the dog not to bite me any more !” mews the cat.
“Hello Dog !” squeals Chick. “I came to tell you that I’ll be an emperor when I grow up ! You’ll have to stop biting the cat.” “Then you have to say to the sheeps not to go out of the enclosure any more !” barks the dog.
“Hello sheeps !” squeals Chick. “I came to tell you that I’ll be an emperor when I grow up ! You’ll have to stop going out of the enclosure.” “Then you have to say to the cow not to graze our grass any more !” bleat out the sheeps.
“Hello Cow !” squeals Chick. “I came to tell you that I’ll be an emperor when I grow up ! You’ll have to stop grazing the grass of the sheeps.”
“Then you have to say to the donkey not to drink my water any more !” moose the cow.
“Hello Donkey !” squeals Chick. “I came to tell you that I’ll be an emperor when I grow up ! You’ll have to stop drinking the water of the cow.”
“Then you have to say to the farmer not to put all this weight on my back !” brays the donkey
“Hello Farmer !” squeals Chick. “I came to tell you that I’ll be an emperor when I grow up ! You’ll have to stop putting so much weight on the donkey’s back.” “But how am I going to carry all this weight ? Will you help me ?” asks the farmer.
“Me ?” wonders Chick. “But I am so little ! Then I don’t want to be an emperor ! I am going to say it to the animals of the farm.”
“Donkey ! I came to tell you that I won’t be an emperor when I grow up ! And you’ll have to help the farmer.”
“Cow ! I came to tell you that I won’t be an emperor when I grow up ! You’ll have to share the water with the donkey. And you, sheeps, you’ll have to share the grass with the cow.”
“Dog and Cat ! I came to tell you that I won’t be an emperor when I grow up ! You, Dog, you’ll have to watch the sheeps instead of running after the cat.”
“And you, Cat, you’ll have to run faster.”
“Here is my little emperor !” “No Mom ! I don’t want to be an emperor any more !” “Ah ?” wonders Mom Hen. “And what do you want to be ?” “I want to be an acrobat !” says Chick. “Yes, I really want to be an acrobat !”
