Educational Books 1915-2015 The Great War ...Told to Children 100 Years Later Cinzia Rando Illustrations by Lorenzo Terranera
A century on, the Great War seems to be painful and very distant event, but + ait serious, played a very important role in our history, because of the extent of events, the number of people involved, the use of new technologies, the political and geographical outcomes, as well as the number of victims. With the help of wonderful illustrated spreads, this book describes the period of the Italian Front (1915-1918): the armies, the war as it took place in the trenches and in the mountains, the soldiers, the weapons and the battles. It also tells the story of the life of civilians and children, the drawings, games, stories and letters which indirectly brought the war into the lives of many people. The large, richly-detailed watercolour illustrations by Lorenzo Terranera are compelling and, in places, also dramatic. The author’s texts describe and summarise the key moments of the conflict, and its causes and consequences in a simple manner. AGE
