Step inside Chosen View
If peace, tranquility, and stunning views are important aspects when looking for your new home, then this superb contemporary property, built to a very high standard by the owners in 2016, should be top of your list. It is located at the end of a quiet cul-desac, leading only to woodland which is also part of also the property. The house backs onto MOD land and the surrounding countryside, while at the same time, it is just off the Canterbury Road in the charming village of Lydden, so is still easily accessible to the A2 for London, Canterbury and Dover.
The driveway provides plenty of off road parking for numerous vehicles and leads to the delightful pitched-roof double carport with attractive gabion pillars and storage facilities above. The house has instant kerb appeal that includes pitched roof dormer windows and a similar shaped, oak framed porch. The contemporary front door opens into a spacious entrance hall with charcoal grey porcelain floor tiles, underfloor heating that flows throughout most of the property and a well-proportioned cloakroom. Glazed double doors lead to the rooms on the ground floor including the good sized, separate snug that is partially fitted out as an office and the stunning open plan kitchen and living areas that make up the rest of the ground floor.
This light and bright ‘hub of the household’ has a skylight and no less than 11 bi-folding doors to the rear terrace, framing the superb panoramic vista. The family area includes feature brick walls framing the bi-fold doors while in the seating area there is a fascinating raised corner log burner and three bi-fold doors. The very spacious kitchen/dining area includes high quality German Nobilia kitchen units housing two built in AEG ovens, a built in microwave, integrated dishwasher, full height fridge and separate full height freezer. There is also a peninsular breakfast bar with an induction hob and pop up extractor, two wine coolers and inset lighting as well as an adjacent utility room with a boiler and a very large water tank.
A very trendy and contemporary metal staircase with a glass and chrome banister leads to the first floor where you will find a superb modern family bathroom with cream coloured porcelain floor tiles, a raised plinth with a gorgeous stand-alone oval bath, a triple wet room style shower and an oval vanity basin. There are four bedrooms including a single, two doubles and the delightful main suite with its vaulted ceiling. This has fitted mirrored cupboards and three bi-folding doors providing panoramic views so you can enjoy your morning coffee in bed. It also has a fabulous en suite with a walk in wet room style shower and a spa bath.
Outside, as well as large carport, there is a brick built shed that could always be converted into a small annex/office/playroom as well as an easy-to-manage garden with lawn areas on three sides of the property and the large terrace that spans the width of the property and includes a hot tub. The lane carries on up to the woodland which is ideal for watching the wildlife and walking the dog.
Seller Insight
We built this house with a great deal of love and care as we thought it would be our forever home. Unfortunately personal circumstances mean we have to move but we hope another family will be able to enjoy everything we have done and add the finishes touches that we were not able to complete.
Lydden is a delightful village with a new doctor’s surgery nearby and you can easily stroll down to the excellent Lydden Bell pub for a drink and a meal. There are great places to go for walks along permitted MOD land and it is very convenient as the local primary school is very close and the buses stop every 20 minutes in either direction. It is only about two minutes’ drive to the A 2 for Canterbury and London or Dover Docks and the Channel Tunnel for the Continent while petrol heads can enjoy motor racing at the Lydden Hill circuit. Sailors can join the Royal Cinque Ports Yacht Club while golfers have a variety of choices from the Walmer and Kingsdown Golf Club to the Championship courses at Sandwich and Deal. Nearby Temple Ewell has a post office and convenience store and it is not far to Tescos and a retail park while Kearsney has the nearest station.*
