- burg, as the locals call Trumansburg, is a short drive north of Ithaca on the west side of Cayuga Lake. Nearby is Taughannock Falls State Park, featuring one of the tallest waterfalls east of the Rocky Mountains. Enjoy Trumansburg’s eclectic downtown shopping district right on Main Street. Known for funky pubs, delectable eateries, and unique shops, you can sip coffee, indulge in pizza, ice cream and handmade chocolate with the kids at the community playground, pick up organic essentials at the natural grocery store and shop for clothes, jewelry, accessories, art, home goods, and eco-friendly gifts & goodies at one of many great local retailers. The village, incorporated in 1872, was a mill town and commercial center for the agricultural community from its inception until the Second World War. In the latter half of the 20th century, the village became home to many faculty and staff at nearby Cornell University and Ithaca College, as well as many musicians. Between 1961-70, Robert Moog built electronic music equipment including Theremins and his famous synthesizers in Trumansburg.

Trumansburg Fairgrounds, 2150 Trumansburg Rd., Trumansburg 607-0387-5098; grassrootsfest.org “Peace, love and music” is the atmosphere you can expect to experience at the annual Grassroots Festival, held in T-burg every July. The festival is presented over a four-day period (Thursday-Sunday) on several stages, which run “ridiculously long hours” to accommodate the 80+ bands that play the festival. Camp on site or stay at any of the surrounding lodging options. Visit the website or call for information on ticket prices, camping details and COVID protocols.

There is an indoor dining area with an attached deck and an outdoor dining area with a waterfall feeding into a pond and a wooden train play station. Home-made flavors include delicious versions of the classics as well as unique and seasonal offerings such as Lavender, Maple Bacon and their popular Seneca Salt Caramel. More than 200 flavors are produced on rotation.

Their permanent hair color is free of ammonia and PPD, a dangerous chemical found in many hair dyes. The color Fresh works well for gray coverage and for achieving any color in the rainbow.
