2014 OC Application
Fiorela Carmona AIESEC TEC 19-10-2014
Personal Presentation I am Fiorela Carmona actual LCP of LC TEC and I am applying for OC position in the OPS. Something i have learn in AIESEC, is that you will have a lot of opportunities and is your decision to take them or leave them, personally i prefer to take them. I have 3 year being in this organization and i have take advantage of every experience i have had, of course i have make mistakes but i love to make them because i can learn from them and develop my self as a better person, leader and professional. I decided right now is the best time to apply for an OC and speacilly for this one because i am excited and really passionate because, as well as the participants, I am going to take my GCDP by the end of the year. I know the programm and i know how AIESEC can changes lifes , so I want them to have the best experience even before they go abroad. If i get elected I promise to fullfill my role as LCP and OC in the best way possible. *Positions i would love to apply: 1.OCP 2. OC Agenda 3. OC Delegates 4. OC Comm Meeting: 24th at 4pm in the MC House
1) Why have you applied for this position and how this is connected with your career plan inside and outside of the organization? Being part of an OC means commitment, hard work and determination to achieve the goal of delivering a good experience. I apply because the OPS is the start of a life changing experience of the participants, that I am also taking after 3 years of working in AIESEC, and personally I want them to have the best experience since they apply and this activity is the last thing before they go, if they go with the right expectations, and knowing actually what AIESEC could give to them, we are going to make them promoters of the XP. Inside the organization right now and aspiring to be the next MCVP oGCDP and being part of the OC OPS will give me the perspective to what to do in my term in this part if I get elected and outside the organization its because I aspire to be CEO and run projects that make a social impact in society.

2) What are your 3 strengths and 3 weaknesses? How those points affect your work?
Leadership Skills
Time Managment
Ansiety
Passion by working
Tracking
selfdemanding
The key point of success i show you use you weeknesses in your favor and adding the strentgths. I can get really ansious really quickly when things are not happening, sometimes i get really frustrated but if we follow a plan , fullfilling the DDLs this is not going to be a problem and also i can use my ansiety to work harder. At my leadership skills for me its easy to delegate tasks but I over trust people sometimes so i dont give the correct tracking, but if we have all the team meeting (Skype or present), have clear communication channels, tracking will be easy, its going to be daily tracking because of the little time we have. So for doing this things of course time managment is essential , with a plan and prioritizing things should be happening. And by being self demanding sometimes i dessapoint my self, but i use this weakness to give the best of me in everything.
3) What do you think that will be your biggest challenge as an OC? How will
you deal with them? Right now the biggest challenge of the OC will be the time, because we have less than 1 month to plan the OPS for more than 60 people. So logistics based on time could get challenging, but this could be fixed if we make a plan and we follow the DDLs and prioritizing things that should be happening. (See the plan attach in a excel document)

4) In your opinion, which are the essential characteristics for an OC member? From those, which one do you have and which you should develop? Leadership skills, time management, goal oriented, perseverance and passion. I can say I have them all but it doesn’t mean I don’t need to keep developing those characterics and more. So by working with pressure, because of time, I will definitely need to keep oriented with the goal of delivering the best experience for the EPs and manage my time really well to accomplish the OPS, because right now I am the LCP but I definitely can do this because I will not be alone, the MC and the OC will work together, and between us effective communication will be a critical factor to achieve the goals. Passion is there because I am also going on exchange and this couldn’t make me happier so that’s why I am also really passionate about it. Leadership skills I have been developing them since I get into AIESEC, but every experience teaches you knew things to become a better leader.

5) Why do you think you are the right person to be in the OC? I am the right person for the OC because of the experience I have had in AIESEC, the results I have achieve and also because I am really passionate and committed with this. You might think for me time will be limited as being LCP, but I can for sure say that time is just an excuse and I can really manage it with a plan and a team. Working in team make the work easier if everybody is focus and committed with the goal.

How do you see yourself as leader for a team of short duration that work under pressure? I see myself achieving the goal as a team. As the OCP with the OC we are going to make a plan for each day since we get elected to the 22 of November as the the draft I put in a previous question. I will delegate depending on the role of the member and track daily the tasks that we have plan. Working under pressurre with little time demands lots of work, goal orientation and having backup plan in case something goes wrong, so we will work in that. I see myself as the one who keep the team together and working

AMAZING OPS
How would be your ideal team? How this team would work? Which would be the result for the OPS? Ideal Team People commited and oriented to deliver an amazing OPS for our EPs because this is part of the experience they apply for. I would say people that have had leadership experiences in AIESEC because of the short time we have , people who have time or know how to manage it, people who can have meetings in San Jose maybe MCH or UCR, and hardworking people, not afraid to take risks. Work We will have to work together and really close, supporting each other even though the JD doesnt say the OC Agenda have to help with the place and those things, but if it is needed they need to know we are a team and we support each other. So knowing this: 1. Planning 2. Delegate 3. Tracking DDLs 4. Having the OPS And during this having fun with the experience. Result 1.First, having an amazing OC experience, this involves challenges and successes and of course enjoying the XP. All the OC members fullfing their expections with this opportunity 2. Delivering an OPS were all the participants feel satisfied with the experience and prepare to take their Exchange programm.
