ATTEMPTED MURDER CASE: KERALA HC STOPS CONVICTION OF EX-LAKSHADWEEP MP

Kerala: In a relief to former Lakshadweep MP Mohammed Faizal, Kerala HC suspended his conviction and 10-year sentence in an attempt to murder case.The court extended the same relief to the other three convicts, including Faizal’s brother. The detailed order of the HC is not yet available. DSGI Manu S, who represented the island administration, confirmed the HC order which came on the joint plea moved by the convicts against their conviction and 10 year jail term by a Sessions Court in Lakshadweep.”

Jharkhand High Court Grants Bail To Bjp Mla Dhullu

Ranchi: The Jharkhand HC on Tuesday granted bail to BJP MLA Dhullu Mahto, who was convicted to 18 months in prison for impeding authorities’ work and shredding a police officer’s uniform in order to help a person escape from police custody. Two co-accused Rajesh Gupta and Chunmun Gupta were also granted bail along with Mahto in same case.

DELHI HC ASKS ANSALS’ REPLY IN UPHAAR CASE

New Delhi: The Delhi HC Wednesday sought the response of real estate tycoons Sushil and Gopal Ansal on a plea by the Delhi Police seeking enhancement of punishment for tampering with evidence in the 1997 Uphaar cinema fire which claimed 59 lives. The police have challenged the trial court’s July 19, 2022 order releasing the Ansal brothers.

SUPREME COURT POSTPONES JOURNALIST RANA AYYUB’S APPEAL IN LAUNDERING CASE

New Delhi: The SC on Wednesday asked a special court in Ghaziabad, which has summoned journalist Rana Ayyub in a money laundering case lodged by the ED, to adjourn the proceedings scheduled for January 27 to a date after January 31. The top court said it will hear on January 31 the petition of Rana Ayyub challenging the summons issued to her by the special court. A bench of Justices Krishna Murari and V Ramasubramanian was informed by advocate Vrinda Grover, appearing for Rana Ayyub, that the petitioner has been summoned by the Ghaziabad court on Jan 27.

Hc Stays Trial Court Proceedings Against Mp Verma

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Thursday stayed the Trial Court proceedings against Delhi BJP MP Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma in a defamation case filed by Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. Sisodia had filed a case against several BJP leaders in 2019 for alleging corruption in the construction of classrooms in Delhi’s government schools in a press conference.
