Barmer: Two labourers died of electrocution while digging an open well at Kaprau village under the Chohtan police station area in Barmer district on Friday afternoon. Police reached the spot and recovered the bodies.

Bhuttaram Bishnoi, station house officer at Chohtan police station confirmed the report.

Police identified the deceased as Jagdish (20) son of Sangaram Jat, a resident of Ishwarpura, and Jagdish (25) Punmaram Jat, a resident of Saiyon Ka Tala. at Sawai Mansingh Stadium when the Vice-President of the Sports Council accused the officers and personnel of his own department of selling complimentary passes in black. As per police, when they started the drilling machine, both labourers got electrocuted. On hearing their cries, people standing nearby immediately switched off the power and pulled both the labourers out of the well. However, they were taken to the hospital, but the doctor declared them dead.

Chowdhary duly informed these allegations to the secretary through a written complaint letter and demanded action. Chowdhary said that whenever an IPL match is organised, complimentary passes of a fixed quota are allotted to the Sports Council personnel. But he received a complaint that some employees of the Sports Council and people associated with the management were selling the passes in black. These complaints have been conveyed to the Secretary of the Sports Council. Chaudhary said that efforts are being made to ensure that only they get their share of passes.
