‘Before 12 PM on Counting Day’: Amit Shah makes bold prediction on Tripura polls

Agartala (ANI): Expressing confidence of BJP getting full majority in the Tripura assembly elections, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that the BJP is seeking a mandate to make the state prosperous in the next five years building on the development initiatives of the party-led government.

Responding to questions about a possible hung assembly in Tripura, Amit Shah said that the constituencies in Tripura are small and “you will see that before 12PM on counting day, the BJP would have crossed the majority mark.”

In an exclusive interview with ANI, Amit Shah also said that BJP’s ‘ChaloPaltai’ slogan in the last election was not a slogan to come to power in the state but to change the situation in Tripura.

Agartala (ANI): Pointing out that every state is part of India's G20 Presidency, Home Minister Amit Shah has said that it is natural that credit for a successful summit will go to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "The way the PM Modi has organised the event, the whole world is watching with surprise. It is a big achievement and a lot of preparation goes into it," Shah said in an interview.

Agartala (Agencies): State Chief Minister Manik Saha on February 13 held a ‘Door to Door’ campaign in Tripura’s Agartala. The CM also interacted with people. Manik Shah said, “There is nothing bigger than the Door to Door campaign. I could understand the issues of people directly. It is easy to tell people what work has been done by BJP. They feel happy when they talk face to face.”

BORDERS SEALED, SECTION 144 IMPOSED AHEAD OF ASSEMBLY POLLS

Agartala (Agencies): The office of the Chief Electoral Officer has imposed section 144 CrPC at 10 PM that will continue till 6 AM of February 17. CEO Kiran Gitte said, “We have taken various steps on law and order issues. Before December around 100 companies of Central Armed Paramilitary Forces arrived while before the declaration of election, another 100 companies arrived and after 18th of January over 200 companies arrived which we have deployed across the state.”

BJP’s Nadda in Nagaland to launch Party manifesto ahead of elections

Dimapur (ANI): BJP national president JP Nadda was on Tuesday accorded a warm welcome to the party’s state president Temjen Imna Along on his arrival at Dimapur airport.

Mr Nadda arrived in Nagaland for launching the party’s manifesto for the February 27 Assembly polls in Nagaland and Meghalaya.

Senior BJP leaders and workers were also present at the Dimapur airport to welcome Mr Nadda.

In Nagaland, the BJP is in the ruling alliance with Neiphiu Rio’s Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) will contest in 20 out of 60 seats.

Varanasi (PTI): A Congress leader has claimed that Rahul Gandhi’s plane was denied permission to land at the airport here late Monday night, a charge denied by the airport authorities.

Senior Congress leader Ajay Rai on Tuesday alleged that Gandhi’s plane was scheduled to land at the Babat airport here on his return from Wayanad in Kerala. Rai said he and other party leaders were at the airport to receive their leader but his plane was not allowed to land “at the last minute.” Gandhi then returned to the national capital.

New Delhi: The Varanasi airport authorities refuted allegations after the Congress party claimed that Rahul Gandhi’s plane was denied permission to land at Varanasi’s Lal Bahadur Shastri Airport on Monday. Refuting the allegations, Varanasi airport said, “The charter jet company carrying Rahul Gandhi cancelled the flight themselves.” Replying on Twitter, the airport stated, “The flight was cancelled by M/s AR Airways by sending email to AAI Varanasi Airport at 2116 hrs on Feb 13th 2013. Please correct your statement as the flight was cancelled by the operator.”

RAHUL GANDHI TO TRAVEL SRINAGAR TODAY ON PERSONAL VISIT: SOURCES

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will be travelling to Srinagar on Wednesday on a personal visit, said sources. Gandhi, who was scheduled to visit Varanasi on Tuesday, had to return to Delhi as his flight was unable to land at the Varanasi.

The Lok Sabha Secretariat has sought a reply from Rahul Gandhi on the breach of privilege notice given against him by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi and BJP MP Nishikant Dubey over “misleading, derogatory, unparliamentary and incriminatory statements” during a discussion of the motion of thanks on the President’s address. Gandhi has been asked to furnish his reply by February 15 for consideration by the LS Speaker.
