T In Gratitude
“To everything there is season, and a time for every purpose under the sun.” Ecclesiastes 3:1 I feel deep appreciation and gratitude during this holiday season and every day. How wonderful it is to live in a world full of possibilities and opportunities! How great it is to live in a country of diversity, where we can make choices for our own personal freedom. How fabulous is it to be part of a community here at First Unity that is growing and expanding, loving and accepting of each of us, right where we are in this moment. I am grateful for the teachers who show up and are willing, committed and excited to share their wisdom and knowledge and to support and encourage each of us as we walk our paths in consciousness. How grateful I am for all the students who feel and respond to the urging of their spirits to come to class where they are
open to receive and to give of their own unique energy to infuse and create a class synergy. Imagine such a place! It is right here for you. Whatever you are seeking – truth, creativity, prosperity, health, new friendships, stronger relationships, loving connections, how to connect with God in a deeper way, meditation and prayer, new ideas, letting go what doesn’t serve you, dreams and desires, a safe place to be you. Tune in to your heart's desire. You are invited to join any of the multitude of classes we offer. We are thrilled to welcome you and share your precious time as we learn and expand together.

Your CommUniteam in Action A very big thank you to the First Unity community and to others in our neighborhood for your support of our outreach programs. With your generous support, CommUniteam was able to donate more than $8,000 to Help A Child, Inc. to help abused children in our community.
At the time of this writing we are beginning our homeless outreach program. There are many thousands of homeless people in Pinellas County, and the numbers of homeless are increasing. With so many foreclosures, many families are becoming homeless. They include children under 16 years of age. The homeless population also consists of veterans or mentally ill or substance abuse individuals. The agencies we are helping are ASAP Homeless Services and Westchase/Turning Point. ASAP provides many services including: walk-in help, emergency shelter, temporary and transitional shelter. Chaplain Corner The First Unity Chaplain program is celebrating its 5th anniversary! Yes, the first dedication of 19 Chaplains occurred on December 7, 2003. We have grown to a group of more than 30 active and emeritus Chaplains, and have grown in consciousness as our church congregation has continued to shift and move and grow and stretch their wings. On Sunday, December 7, we will hold a Chaplain orientation for those individuals who are feeling the call to step forward into this spiritual path and become a Chaplain in 2009. We will hold two orientations, and you need only attend one. December 7 or December 21, 12:45 to 1:45 pm in the Sanctuary. These sessions will describe in detail the one-year commitment which each Chaplain makes, the training session schedule, and the expectations of what being a Prayer Chaplain can mean to you. You will find Chaplain tables in Friendship Hall at various times prior to both orientation dates, with sign-up sheets and further information. Attending an orientation session does not obligate you to move forward with the program, but it is the first step toward that possible outcome. I look forward with excitement and delicious anticipation, knowing that those who respond to this inner calling are in the right place at the right time to make this leap of faith. I can promise you a deepening of your faith, an unfoldment of your divinity at a greater level, and a connection with others that are
Chaplain Orientation December 7 or December 21 12:45 to 1:45 pm there to love and support you on your personal, spiritual path. Being a First Unity Chaplain is an inner journey of discovery and growth. Are you ready for the bliss that awaits you? If you have been a member of First Unity Church for at least one year, take this to prayer and see if your heart is saying, “Yes!” In Love and Light, Daybree Thoms, Chaplain Coordinator
