Standard designs or made-to-measure: you choose what suits you for your personalised design
We are known for precise customised designs: we create the carpets you want, to perfectly fit the look of your design. We can also create variations on standard designs to meet your requirements.
The Fischbacher 1819 team supports you with inspirational examples, colour samples and drafts of your designs. Our carpets are tufted by hand on a woven backing material and made to any size required.
Material: The collections Silk, Merino Wool, Linen and BENU Sea offer a rich range of materials to choose from.
Colours: The materials are available in a full range of colours. If your chosen colour is not part of our standard range, we can dye the product especially for you.
Carving: You can choose different heights of the pile and any combination of loop and cut pile. Depending on the material, it is also possible to carve out three-dimensional reliefs ranging from 7 mm to 14 mm in height.
Finishing: The colour of the backing felt, which is also available as a flame-retardant fabric, can also be chosen freely. Water-repellent treatment can be added.
Artwork: When placing an order, the customer receives a technical representation of their carpet in the chosen colours alongside the order confirmation in order to approve production.
Trial design: Upon request, Fischbacher 1819 can produce trial samples of the custom carpet design. The samples are available within two to four weeks.
Production: The delivery time for your carpet will be around six to ten weeks. Depending on the size and complexity of the product, this may vary slightly.

Loop
The loop of the carpet remains uncut: surface is less fluffy and more grainy.

Almost all carpets can be backed with a felt backing. You can choose between dark grey and beige. The Fischbacher 1819 logo is printed onto the felt backing with an anti-slip finish.
Shipping
The finished product is rolled up and packed. Each carpet is shipped with its own custom-made protective cover.
Quality
The production of hand-tufted carpets is fundamentally different from all other methods of carpet manufacture. The carpet is neither woven nor knotted. Tufting works rather like a sewing machine: the needle goes through the fabric from the back of the carpet. The gripper holds the yarn tightly from the front. This results in loops on the woven backing that create a bouclé texture. If the loops are cut, the result is a velour finish. The cutter is usually attached to the gripper so that holding and cutting the yarn, known as the pile, can be done in one step. The length of the pile or loops determines the pile height which, together with the pile density, results in the material weight. In the next step, the pile threads are fixed: the back of the carpet is coated with latex and then clad with felt. Without this, the threads could be pulled out easily. A common design technique for tufted carpets is shearing. To do this, the pile is cut to different heights using a cutter or knife. Patterns also result from the contrast between loops and clipped pile.
Our carpets are distinguished by the following labels:
No Child labour
This certificate guarantees that no child labour was involved in the creation of our carpets. The production facilities are monitored by unannounced inspections.
MERINO WOOL
This symbol confirms that our carpets are made with 100% Merino wool from New Zealand, (where applicable). The fine, soft, and elastic fibres of the Merino sheep are a guarantee of the finest quality.
Green Label Plus
All our carpets are tested by the internationally accredited Carpet and Rug Institute CRI, and are certified with the Green Label Plus, meaning our carpets belong to those with the lowest VOC emissions on the market today.
BENU RECYCLED
MONSILK is a premium brand of recycled yarn which is produced from waste plastic bottles collected from the oceans around Thailand.
Merino Wool Collection
The carpets in the Merino Wool range are hand-tufted from premium New Zealand merino wool. Merino wool is a very high-quality type of wool that is characterised by its exceptional fineness, softness and elasticity. The natural protective layer of the merino wool provides heat insulation and absorbs noise. Thanks to the elasticity of merino wool, carpets made from this material are extremely hard-wearing and durable. Merino wool carpets are ideal for use in the home because the natural properties of the merino wool make them flame-retardant.

NZ Wool One-Ply Collection
For public areas, e.g. hotel lobbies, entrance areas or other high-traffic areas, we recommend NZ Wool One-Ply, our non-twisted 100% New Zealand wool quality. Compared to the Merino Wool quality, this wool has a coarser yarn structure and therefore meets higher demands on wear.

Linen Collection
The rugs in the Linen range are hand-tufted from premium linen. Linen is a stable natural fibre that is made from flax and is both hypoallergenic and temperature-regulating. The yarn has a natural shimmer that changes in different light, resulting in rugs with vibrant surfaces and a patina that becomes more intense with age and underlines the unique character of the rug.

Silk Collection
The silk carpets in the Silk range are designed to exceed the most discerning expectations. Renowned for their unparalleled sheen, smooth texture, and remarkable colour brilliance, silk carpets are synonymous with luxury. Silk is an exceptionally fine, but also very elastic fibre. Each carpet in the Silk collection is meticulously hand-tufted from twisted silk, employing the finest craftsmanship. This process ensures not only the highest quality but also imbues each piece with a unique character and durability.

Mix Collection: mixed materials
The successful Mix carpet range was born from our passion for innovative techniques and materials. The combination of exclusive materials such as merino wool, silk or linen with beautiful designs creates exciting visual and textural contrasts. For example, velvety merino wool is combined with dry linen, or clipped shimmering silk with matt wool. Techniques such as carving, bouclé and clipped pile are just a few of the countless possibilities that can be used to create Mix designs.

BENU® SEA Recycled collection
At Fischbacher 1819, sustainability and social responsibility are not trends but fundamental values ingrained in our ethos. We have integrated textiles made from recycled raw materials into our portfolio for many years. In 2009, we were among the first textile producers to introduce decorative and upholstery fabrics using recycled PET and fabric remnants from the fashion industry through our BENU® Recycled collection. Since then, we have consistently driven material innovation, actively seeking sustainable solutions to reuse raw materials effectively and reduce CO2 emissions.
With the BENU® SEA carpets collection, we extend this endeavour to carpets and make a contribution to the clean-up of our planet’s irreplaceable oceans.
BENU® SEA carpets are tufted with Monsilk yarn, which is made from upcycled plastic waste from the sea and has the characteristics of a high-quality polyester yarn: it is supple, has high colour brilliance, gives the carpets a silky sheen and is easy to care for.
