With just under nine weeks to go until Classic Ibiza returns to Hatfield House on Saturday 19 August, the concert organisers have revealed the tracks being performed on the night by the 32-piece Urban Soul Orchestra. This year’s concert includes 15 completely new orchestrations, starred below, in a set of over 40 Balearic-infused classics – the show’s biggest yet.
Classic Ibiza’s Lisa Ward comments: “Having heard the new tracks being performed by USO, this year’s Classic Ibiza is going to blow people away. Stephen Hussey’s orchestrations and our incredibly talented musicians are on another level.”
The concert starts at 5 pm with a new ChillOut DJ Set. Former Pacha Ibiza resident, DJ Jose Luis then takes control of the decks for his Latin House Set, which for the first time includes a live jamming session with members of USO. Next up, USO and DJ Goldierocks take centre stage for the Sundowner Set, performing these iconic tracks:
Poppiholla* (Chicane), Inner City Life* (Goldie), Touch Me (Rui Da Silva), Rhythm of The Night (Corona), What Is Love* (Haddaway), Turn Around (Phats and Small), The Man With The Red Face* (Laurent Garnier), For An Angel (Paul van Dyke), Blind Faith (Chase & Status), Sun Is Shining (Bob Marley vs. Funkstar De Luxe), Red Alert (Basement Jaxx), Blackwater (Octave One), Sky (Sonique) and Theme from S’Express* (S’Express).
USO then take a break during Goldierocks’ Deep House DJ Set, a mix of classic and brandnew Ibiza anthems. They’re then reunited on stage for the Dance Set, packed with these house anthems and accompanied by a laser & light show:
Yeke Yeke (Hardfloor Mix)* (Mory Kante), Pump Up The Jam* (Technotronic), Everybody’s Free (Rozalla), Let Me Be Your Fantasy (Baby D), Castles in the Sky (Ian van Dahl), Better Off Alone (Alice Deejay), ResuRection (PPK), Seven Days and One Week (BBE), Sandstorm (Darude), Adagio for Strings (Tiësto), We Come 1*, God Is a DJ, Insomnia (Faithless), (I Wanna Give You) Devotion (Nomad), Push The Feeling On (Nightcrawlers), Dreamer (Livin’ Joy), Toca’s Miracle (Fragma), Waiting All Night (Rudimental), Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)* (C&C Music Factory), King Of My Castle* (Wamdue Project), Need You 100%* (Duke Dumont), On A Ragga Tip* (SL2), Silence* (Delerium, Tiësto), Heaven* (DJ Sammy), Summer (Calvin Harris) and Freed From Desire* (Gala). The concert ends at 10.30pm after an encore. Commenting on this year’s set, USO’s Stephen Hussey says: “Yeke Yeke by Mory Kante is a definite standout for me. He was from Guinea, so we had help learning the lyrics from Lucy Duran, professor of music at the School of Oriental and African Studies. I feel great affinity with the three worlds of music represented in our version – African, house and orchestral. I guess it encapsulates three very important things to me –my heritage, my education and my party side.”
Tickets are going fast for Classic Ibiza at Hatfield House. The concert is proud to support Herts Young Homeless.

take to enhance their security. These include making sure you lock doors and gates, close windows when you go out, keep your car keys out of site, and don’t leave ladders or garden equipment out that could be used to gain entry to your home. It is also important to be aware of the latest trends in criminal activity, such as the use of social media to identify potential targets and take steps to protect against these threats.
Summer has arrived as has the surge in home burglaries. Statistically, you are more likely to become a victim of burglary in the summer. The importance of residential security in London and the home counties is more important now than ever, particularly for high-net-worth individuals who are concerned about protecting their families and assets. With the ever-increasing crime rates and a vast increase in targeted, often violent high-value burglaries and street robberies, it is crucial for homeowners to take proactive steps to enhance their personal and property security.
One of the most effective ways to improve home security is to make your property less appealing to criminals by investing in technical and physical security, such as CCTV, alarms, and lighting. Also, fences, gates, windows, and doors. A 24/7 security guard presence or residential security team is advised should your profile, status, threat, and risk require such measures. This is an essential requirement for high-profile business leaders, celebrities, political and royal stock. Should the threat and risk of burglary be enhanced due to your career or company, it’s reassuring to know that private security is a tax-deductible business expense.
In addition to these often-expensive solutions, there are several simple steps that everyone can

Ultimately, the key to effective home security is a combination of technological solutions, physical measures, and manned guarding. By taking proactive steps to protect their homes and assets, homeowners can help to ensure the safety and security of their families and possessions for the peace of mind that comes with good security awareness and measures.

Lavender has been grown in and around Hitchin for hundreds of years and museum is homage to this. Perks and Llewellyn was an apothecary located in Hitchin town centre until the 1960’s, Hitchin Historical Society have kindly loaned us much of the shops furniture and its artefacts which help give visitors an insight into the use of lavender throughout Victorian times.
We have over 30 acres of lavender containing a wide range of varieties for you to explore. You’ll be able to wander wherever you like within the field and pick some lavender to take home with you. We’ll provide a paper bag for collecting lavender which can be picked up at the entrance to the field. We kindly request that you bring your own scissors to help support our additional safety measures currently in place due to COVID-19. We advise that the lavender should only be cut from the sides of the bushes, not from the top. Our main flowering season is between mid-June and late August. Amateur photography is welcomed!
We have many varieties of British wild flowers in our meadow including Common Knapweed, Lady’s Bedstraw, Poppy, Tufted Vetch, Cornflower and Field Forget-Me-Not. The meadow can be found towards the right hand side of our main field and will usually be in flower from early summer.
Our top tips for growing lavender at home: Ideally, lavender prefers to be planted in a
porous soil, such as sand or chalk. Chalk is ideal as it is slightly alkaline and allows for rain water to permeate through.
Lavender can grow in a non-porous soil, such as clay, if sand or grit or something that allows drainage is mixed in.
Here at the farm, we’re lucky to have ideal growing conditions as the soil is chalky and the slope of our field allows for a high amount of surface run-off, meaning that our lavender doesn’t sit in water for too long.
Lavender likes to be in a place that will get a lot of sun but so long as the plant is well aerated, it will still thrive.
When first planted, lavender needs help to become established in the ground and will need watering for the first seven to ten days or so. Once established, it won’t need any additional watering aside from incidental rainfall. If you’re planning to keep your lavender plant in a pot you will however, need to keep watering it occasionally. It doesn’t necessarily need any extra feed to help it become established.
There can be flexibility when it comes to harvesting your lavender stems. If you’re cutting

your plant for fresh flowers, you can cut them whenever you like. For dried lavender, they should ideally be picked just before the petals (corollas) open up.
When pruning, stems should be cut above the greenery, about two inches above the old wood. This will allow for new growth for next season. If the stem is cut too far down into the old wood, it can damage or even kill off a plant. Lavender will survive just as happily if pruned once the lavender heads have lost all their colour.
There are 39 species of lavender worldwide and within each species there are hundreds of varieties, meaning that there are many different colours, scents and foliage types to choose from.
We have 2 main species that are farmed at Hitchin Lavender. They are Lavandula Angustifolia and Lavandula x Intermedia, although you’ll be able to see 60 varieties growing in our display field and 10 varieties in our main field.
Angustifolia is a very valuable species of lavender because of the high quality oil that is produced by the plants. The oils can be used in perfume, cosmetics, for aromatherapy and utilised as an antiseptic. Its typical flowering period is from mid-June to late July. It is an extremely hardy plant and fairly forgiving of pruning mistakes! It has a shorter stem than other species and more contained greenery, making it a good option for domestic use.
Intermedia is a hybrid plant which comes from a combination of Angustifolia and Latifolia lavenders. Many varieties of Intermedia are used for producing commercial oil and dried bunches, as the yields from these plants are up to three times greater than Angustifolia. Intermedia is also very hardy with a flowering period from early July through to September.
If you’d like to pick a variety of lavender that can be found in our fields, you’ll find a selection of Angustifolia and Intermedia plants, available in two different pot sizes in our farm shop. Dogs are welcome on-site so long as they are kept on a lead and any doggy deposits are cleared
away by their owners.
The lavender attracts a diverse mix of wildlife, in particular bees. You’ll be able to see many bees amongst the lavender rows. Much of the other wildlife may be harder to spot but the farm is home to hares, butterflies, insects, partridges, skylarks and more.
Experience a different view of Hitchin Lavender and the surrounding countryside by walking along the public footpaths which intersect our farm alongside our main field and outbuildings.
Professional photography is allowed anytime during our general opening hours but is subject to an additional fee.

Alocal Hertfordshire pupil from St Margaret’s, an independent day and boarding school in Bushey, has lifted a regional record in weight for her age, coming fourth place in the UK having competed against hundreds of other young people in the Sub-Junior and Junior British Powerlifting Championships in Solihull recently. The championship ran across five days where pupil, Jodie Fox, competed in the sub-junior women’s 69kg class.
The event involved three different lifts in competitive powerlifting: the squat, bench and deadlift. Each athlete had to perform each lift three times, increasing the weight each time. The highest scoring attempt for each lift is added together to give a total score.
Jodie Fox, who is a sixth form student at St Margaret’s School explained, “My total in the British Championships was 310kg, which was a regional record. This was made up of my highest squat - 120kg, a regional record and personal best, bench - 55kg another personal best, and finally deadlift - 135kg, a regional record and another personal best for me.”
Jodie’s success saw her reach a closely fought battle for third place where she narrowly missed out by only 2.5kg, coming fourth in the country
“My total in the British Championships was 310kg, which was a regional record. This was made up of my highest squat - 120kg, a regional record and personal best, bench - 55kg another personal best, and finally deadlift - 135kg, a regional record and another personal best for me”
for her age and weight class. Up until a year ago, Jodie who is currently in Year 13 at St Margaret’s School, had never even heard of powerlifting. She was introduced to it by her personal trainer, who noticed that she was unusually strong for her age. She has been powerlifting since April 2021 and she trains four times per week.
“I am already training hard for my next competition, which is the All-England Championships, to be held in Manchester in August this year. My goal for the All-England is to break more records, achieve more personal bests and place in the top three lifters, which would potentially open up the opportunity to perform at the Commonwealth Games next year,” said Jodie.
Camilla Powell, St Margaret’s Head of PE & Sport added, “At a time of adversity Jodie has shown great fortitude. Her application and determination accompanied by her willingness to succeed, has led her to qualify for the British Powerlifting Championships. She has moved mountains surpassing her own expectations and is a true inspiration to us all.”
Jodie is going to university in September and plans to join the university powerlifting team so she can keep making progress and someday become the strongest powerlifter in the UK. stmargarets-school.org.uk

“There will be engaging imagery, including ‘A Tea Party at Napsbury’ by artist Louis Wain, beautiful displays of ornate tea bowls and decorative teapots from our collection, and after a wander through the exhibition visitors can relax with a cuppa in the museum’s Courtroom Café.”
The exhibition will take visitors through what tea is, how it comes to the UK, is packaged, stored, made, and then drunk from different vessels. There will be a look at tea from a social perspective including how different cultures enjoy tea and a community sourced display of people’s

Councillor Allison Wren, Vice-chair of the public realm committee of St Albans City and District Council and lead councillor for museums says:
“I am incredibly grateful to the museum team for bringing another fascinating and high-quality, cultural exhibition to the city which will attract visitors from near and far. The Braided Rug Company started in 2001 selling American Braided Rugs. In 2010, we decided to create our own range of organic jute rugs, working very closely with a small manufacturing company in Bangladesh. We now sell our jute products (rugs, baskets, placemats, & tote bags) to both wholesale and retail customers. We also sell a range of Eco rugs made from recycled plastic which can live outdoors. We are very proud to support a working community in Bangladesh.
Introducing two new colourways to our bestselling Beni tote collection. Made from 100% organic jute, these bags come in two sizes. Designed by The Braided Rug Company and handmade in Bangladesh, they are an eco-conscious and budget friendly pop of colour for your holiday wardrobe.
Jute is not only a fully sustainable fibre, it is also very hard-wearing, so these bags will last for
summers to come. The large size is perfect for a day at the beach, measuring 33x36x26cm and costing £45. The small size is great for every day, measuring 26x23x18cm and costing £30.
The new Calypso and Flamingo colourways are in addition to the navy and red stripe Beni totes, which we continue to sell year after year. ‘Beni’ is the Bengali word for Braid. braided-rug.co.uk

Art Deco styling, warm, welcoming hues and a bold, unapologetic pattern; it is easy to see why The Baked Tile Co’s latest addition is turning heads. 1860 Saint Germain De Pres is a powerhouse of a tile. Suitable for use on both the wall and floor, inside and out - this beauty, with the look of a traditional encaustic tile - packs a lot into a compact 15cm x 15cm.

Wayfair’s Resident Style Advisor, Dee Fontenot, shares her expert tips to create a sun-kissed indoor space that captures the essence of the Amalfi coast - the ultimate backdrop for summer soirees...
Channel the spirit of Italian summer by bringing the outside in when styling up an indoor tablescape. Statement vases filled with garden-cut blooms will bring a little magic to your table and can be integrated easily and affordably. Use a range of vessels in staggered heights and a medley of different florals, from blousy roses to bright tulips for a bold look.
Filling a carafe with fresh fruit and herbs is an easy way to bring both a sense of finesse and a dash of colour to your table. Forgo traditional lemon slices in favour of zesty pink grapefruit and sicilian oranges, adding a few sprigs of mint for an easy aromatic addition that will look good and taste delicious!
Don’t worry about matching your tableware. An eclectic mix of plates, napkins and coloured glasses will make your table feel approachable as well as stylish. Relaxed Mediterranean hosting is all about the ‘artfully undone’ look.
Think of your summer tablescape in the same way that you would your interior, choosing a small handful of recurring colours running throughout. If you’re looking to channel destination style, add a few hot accent shades - think look-at-me pink, bold cobalt or sunny yellow.
For a true Italian holiday feel, make sure that refreshing tipples are easily at hand. A stylish serving trolley with spritz aplenty will be a welcome addition to any dinner party, as well as a show-stopping talking point.
Feeling adventurous? Switch out traditional wall art for a touch of drama with a platescaping display. Opt for a variety of sizes, but stick to a distinctive colour palette for a cohesive look. Patterned melamine plates will look just as authentic as vintage finds but will be lighter and kinder to your walls. wayfair.co.uk

Head of Creative at Ca’ Pietra Grazzie Wilson showcases some of her favourite summer tiles as part of their new Moments of Mine Summer campaign. These are tiles that form the backdrop to summer’s best bits.
Aperol, come at me. Citrus-y spritz, you’re mine. Campari and soda, yes and yes. Mix up a trending tipple and get sipping against a backdrop of mixand-match garden tiles. There’s no better way to set the sundowner scene.
THE most golden-delicious hour of the day where literally everything and everyone looks at their most radiant. Tiles included. Terracotta, you’ve never looked better than you do pre-sunrise and those last few seconds before sunset. Get snapping. Get hash tagging.
Cobalt blue x surf white. Pomelo yellow x basketweave beige. Consider your jet set palette covered all without boarding the plane. This summer, let your tiles take you there.
Get your raspberry ripple on or make guests green-eyed with pistachio and mint-choc-chip on your paving’s palette. With sorbet shades and pastel soft serve shades trending across patterned outdoor tiles, make every al fresco moment like a trip to the ice cream parlour.
Step away from the kitchen island, because when the sun’s out, Sunday brunch heads straight outside. And why keep avocado and egg-white omelette on the breakfast menu alone when you can tile up your outdoor kitchen with tiles coloured in those very tones?
