Nicola Benedetti and Leonard Elschenbroich join Maiastra players in fund-raising concert to support aspiring chamber music students. Maiastra, called after the Romanian mythic bird with magic powers, is the name under which performances are given by the Aidan Woodcock Charitable Trust whose main objective is the organization of chamber music courses, entirely free to the student participants, culminating in three concerts. These concerts demonstrate a very high level of musical competence with alumni going on to become members of professional groups. Apart from the Tchaikovsky sextet, the programme will consist of a Duo to be announced from the stage and played by Nicola and Leonard, and a performance by Maiastra of one of the most famous of all chamber music works, Mozart’s String Quintet in G minor. Nicola Benedetti and Leonard Elschenbroich - The Trust is greatly indebted to these two fabulous players.

T
he violinist Nicola Benedetti, a highly soughtafter performer on the world platform, has captured audiences and critics alike with her outstanding musical skills allied to a most engaging and attractive personality. Strongly dedicated to music education, and through her work with Sistema Scotland - a charity set up in the belief that children can gain huge social benefits by playing in a symphony orchestra - she has helped to demonstrate the power that music can have in transforming the lives of young people. For her services to music she was awarded the MBE in 2013. Leonard Elschenbroich has excited interest as one of the most charismatic cellists of his generation since receiving the Leonard Bernstein award at the opening concert of the 2009 Schleswig Holstein Festival, which followed his performance of the Brahms Double with Anne Sophie Mutter. With performances all over the world, CD’s with 5-star reviews, his appointment as Artistic Mentor of the Orquestra Filarmonica de Bolivia - the country’s first national orchestra - and numerous prestigious awards his career is indeed a glittering one. Later this month Nicola and Leonard will embark on an eleven-day tour of the UK and Dublin with a programme which includes Tchaikovsky’s popular sextet, Souvenir de Florence; and this is one of the works which will be heard in a fund-raising concert on 13 September at St.Teresa’s School in Effingham, Surrey, performed by Nicola and Leonard with members of Maiastra led by Arisa Fujita. ‘And hints at the fun we bring to our show too!’ Jem exclaims. ‘In Epsom we will also be joined by The Arnould Girls Choir and Two-Three-Eight, a ladies choir. Both are directed by the Surbiton based singer and choir mistress Bec Gresson. They sang with us before in Richmond and they were so good that we just had to ask them back for this new show and we were delighted when Bec said ‘yes.’ ‘The choir really are a fantastic addition to the show and allows us to create the operatic chorus in Nessun Dorma as well as new colours in our self-written song, Brand New Day, alongside supporting us in other songs and singing a few of their own numbers.’ Says Scott.

‘Yes, Surbiton and Cobham do feel a long way from the music that we love, but Surrey really is full of every nationality and Cobham has a large American community and I am married to one.’ laughs Paul. Jem continues, ‘With Heathrow and Gatwick only half an hour away, we are a short distance from a flight to anywhere in the world. You really do feel part of a global family living in Surrey’ ‘Yes and I am a stone’s throw from Gatwick too living in Hove, East Sussex’, interjects former local boy Scott. ‘Wherever people are from though, we can guarantee them a great night out and a unique, fun, moving show and they can see it first in Epsom this September.’ THE DETAILS For tickets: Epsom Playhouse, Epsom, Surrey 01372 742555 or 742227 ••••• www.epsomplayhouse.co.uk www.tenorsunlimited.com

quentin blake at The Lightbox The Lightbox to show the ‘Inside Stories’ of much loved illustrator Quentin Blake
T
he Lightbox gallery and museum is delighted to show ‘Quentin Blake: Inside Stories’ a landmark exhibition by Quentin Blake, one of the UK’s most important and best-loved illustrators whose work is recognised worldwide. Marilyn Scott, Director, The Lightbox said: ‘One of my favourite exhibitions at The Lightbox was ‘Childrens Books’, it had something for everyone, so I am particularly delighted that we will be hosting the exhibition ‘Quentin Blake: Inside Stories’ which we will be showing in collaboration with House of Illustration. This exhibition has been curated by Quentin himself and will include all your favourite characters from the wonderful Roald Dahl books which Quentin has made his very own.’ Co-curated by Quentin Blake and Claudia Zeff, this exhibition gives a unique insight into the origins of some of Blake’s most characteristic and popular creations. From Roald Dahl’s ‘The Twits’ and ‘Danny the Champion of the World’ to his own ‘Clown’, and ‘The Boy in The Dress’ by David Walliams and illustrations to books by John Yeoman, Russell Hoban and Michael Rosen. The exhibition features over 140 works and brings together first roughs and storyboards, many never shown before the ‘Inside Stories’ exhibition, with finished art work to demonstrate how ideas evolved, often in close collaboration with the authors. It will show how Blake
brings to bear a wide range of different techniques and media including inks, watercolours and pastels applied with a variety of touch, in response to the particular mood of a book and the nature of its characters, to create his distinctive and unforgettable illustrations. The inaugural exhibition for House of Illustration, the UK’s centre for the art of illustration, when it opened in July 2014, ‘Inside Stories’ is now touring and The Lightbox is the first venue to show the collection. Colin McKenzie, Director, House of Illustration said: ‘Quentin Blake is an illustrator of world renown whose work is instantly recognisable to millions. This exhibition will offer audiences of all ages a unique insight into both his work and working method.’ ‘Quentin Blake: Inside Stories’ will be on show at The Lightbox from 10 October 2015 – 17 January 2016. Why not stroll around Swan Barn and learn how the National Trust manage farmland, woodland, orchards and livestock or discover more about Haslemere’s notable tree on a tree led walk. Wander around Imbhams Farm and discover some of the many species of bats that are known to inhabit the site or come and try the walk that is a walkout with an introduction to Nordic Walking! Ceri-Jane O’Hara added ‘We have an interesting and varied programme of walks that should appeal to anyone who wants to step out, meet people and learn something new. No matter what your age, fitness ability, whether you are a complete walking novice, interested in local history, wildlife or just want to challenge yourself with one of the long distance routes, there is something for everyone to enjoy’ All walks are free to attend and are led by knowledgeable walks leaders to guide people along the route with some designed for families. Independent Schools bring top of the class results
T
he A-level results table below illustrates the highest achieving A-Level results of independent schools in the UK - including the percentage of subject entries graded A*/A or equivalent. independent school league tables are created using data supplied by the Independent Schools Council. Some schools decline to submit results, so may not appear in the position they achieved. Only schools with 25 or more candidates sitting A-level or equivalent qualifications are included in the table. In these A-level tables, Cardiff Sixth Form College has topped the list once again this year, as the best-performing independent school, with just a slight dip in the percentage of pupils at grades A* to A - 94.64 per cent of pupils in 2015 compared with 94.71 in 2014. The table covers A-levels in addition to the International Baccalaureate (IB) and the Cambridge Pre-U. Results in the IB and Pre-U are converted into A-level equivalents using the Ucas tarrif point system as a guide. Higher level 7 and 6 at IB = A* and A at A-level. Distinction 1, 2, 3 and Merit 1 at Pre-U = A* and A at A-level.

UK parents among
‘the strictest in Europe’
B
ritish parents are among the strictest in Europe after a study has revealed they are more reluctant to let their children play and travel unsupervised. Worried parents in England restrict their child’s ability to play and travel without adult supervision more than their European counterparts, the research found. The study revealed parents are mainly worried about the potential danger from road traffic and going out in the dark and it followed calls from leading teachers to expose children to more genuine risk. Researchers compared children’s independent mobility in 16 countries worldwide based on a survey of over
children to use daylight hours and prevent road deaths. Ben Shaw, Director of Policy Studies Institute, said: “ Allowing children the freedom to get about in their local area unaccompanied by adults has been found to be important for their health and physical, mental and social development. Yet we have found that children around the world have significant restrictions placed on their freedom to get about – to go to school, to visit friends, and get to places to play. “Children’s freedom of movement has declined in recent decades and danger from traffic is the main reason parents give for not letting their children out by themselves.
Researchers compared children’s independent mobility in 16 countries worldwide based on a survey of over 18,000 children 18,000 children aged 7 - 15 from 2010 to 2012. Carried out by the Policy Studies Institute (PSI) at the University of Westminster, it found that children’s ability to travel and play in their local area unsupervised by adults varies widely with England in seventh place compared to more lenient countries like Germany and Finland. The only European countries from the sample that allow children of any age to go out after dark are Finland, Sweden and Denmark, the study funded by the Nuffield Foundation revealed. Separately, England held the seventh place in the ranking, positioning parents as among the less lenient in Europe. The report recommended a reduction of car dependency and a change in Daylight Saving Time to allow
1 0 SEPTEMBER 2 0 1 5
We are struck by how this significant danger and major restriction on children, is routinely accepted given the health and developmental benefits independent mobility has been shown to result in. “While restrictions on children’s freedom have increased, our research has looked at how this situation can be turned around. “We have found some shining examples of cities such as Rotterdam and Vancouver which have been inspired to place children at the centre of their development; on the basis that if a city works for children it works for everyone. “However, if the benefits of these approaches are to be enjoyed in the UK, the needs of children must be given much greater priority by decision makers working in the policy areas of planning, development and transport.

CRANLEIGH
CELEBRATES 150 YEARS OF EXCEEDING EXPECTATIONS IN EDUCATION

ranleigh is a leading co-educational weekly boarding and day school set in a stunning rural location in more than 280 acres on the edge of the Surrey Hills. This year the School celebrates its sesquicentennial anniversary. The School was established to provide an education for the sons of the local farming community and welcomed the very first pupils on September 29th 1865; and it has certainly come a long way in the last 150 years. Cranleigh demonstrates strongly that academic excellence does not have to come at the expense of co-curricular success, with record-breaking examination results and pupils achieving at the highest level in sports, music and drama. A vibrant school, it is large enough for diverse opportunities and yet still small enough for every individual pupil to be known and nurtured; a continuation of the founding ethos when our distinct boarding community was launched so many years ago. Cranleigh’s beautiful campus is exceptionally well equipped, with outstanding classroom, studio, performance and sports facilities, including three theatres, twelve rehearsal and performance spaces, competition pitches, stables, sports centres, golf course, outdoor education centre and swimming pool. A visionary plan of development ensures that the School will continue to provide the best possible environment for its pupils for the next 150 years. There are strong links between the School and nearby Cranleigh Preparatory School and pupils also join from a wide variety of other prep schools across London and the home counties, creating a lively, House-based community

of young people who are drawn together by their inherent love of life and getting involved in everything Cranleigh has to offer. In 2015 the newest addition to the Cranleigh family also celebrates a birthday. Cranleigh Abu Dhabi, situated at the heart of Saadiyat Island, the Emirates’ island of culture, opened its doors to the first pupils at the Junior School in 2014 and the Senior School will open next month. Like the other Schools in the Cranleigh family, Cranleigh Abu Dhabi shares the motto Ex Cultu Robur (from Culture comes Strength), an ethos which celebrates co-curricular success alongside academic excellence with remarkable results for every pupil, year on year. So too has Eleanor M Palmer, but hers was gained through the less traditional route as she studied French, Spanish and Mathematics at A Level. She impressed the interview panel so much with her desire to become a medic, that she is commencing a six year course at Manchester University. Students who received the very highest marks include Emma Bruno, Bennett Sanderson, Tim Senanayake, David Robinson, Richard Tarnopolski, Joe Russell and Robert Kerr, who all achieved a minimum of 3 A*s in their examinations. With over 70% of the students moving on to Russell Group universities, with Exeter being the most popular university, the Upper Sixth students should be proud of their success. Five students have decided to take Art Foundation courses, including Rosie Minnie who has been offered a place at the prestigious Royal Drawing School. Emily Jeffery and Tracy Cox will study at Loughborough, whilst Mark Thomas has been offered a place at Camberwell. Karin Kajabova has been awarded and accepted a place on the Art Foundation Course at UCA Farnham, turning down an offer from the London College of Communication.

ProSkin Clinics Breaking boundaries in the fight against ageing… Introducing the latest in Anti-Ageing skin treatments – PicoSure Skin Revitalisation with combined treatments
A
ward winning clinic chain, ProSkin, have introduced a revolutionary new course of treatments by combining the award winning PicoSure skin revitalization laser treatment with a series of other advanced skin treatments such as Dermaroller, Injectables or chemical peels; dramatically increasing the results that you can expect. PicoSure Skin Revitalisation can diminish the deepest lines and take years off your skin — with minimal downtime, and with long-lasting results – and without the concerns and side effects associated with surgical face-lifts. Combined with a secondary treatment, the results can be even more impressive by targeting even more of your antiageing and skin concerns. The options include:
PicoSure & Injectables
PicoSure combined with injectables such as Botox or fillers will produce the most effective results for ‘dynamic’ lines; that is, lines that are caused by muscle contractions, commonly found around the eyes and forehead. Botox is administered to the problem areas and PicoSure is carried out two weeks later to address the overall complexion. You can expect smooth, healthy and glowing skin!
PicoSure & Dermaroller
The combination of PicoSure with Dermaroller will yield incredible results for acne scarring, even severely pitted skin will respond quickly and effectively. The combination also works wonderfully at targeting anti-ageing concerns due to the collagen boosting properties of the treatment. Combined with PicoSure your overall complexion will be smoother, more plumped and more radiant.
PicoSure & Chemical Peel
Skin peels work by removing the damaged outer layers of skin, allowing new skin cells to grow; combined with PicoSure, you can expect faster and more dramatic rejuvenation of skin concerns such as uneven pigmentation, sun damage, acne scarring and ageing. These combined treatments are now available at our Esher Clinic. For more information contact us at reception@proskinclinics.com. Love your legs again I
n the UK one in four adults get varicose veins, however worryingly the majority either ignore their symptoms or encounter difficulties accessing treatment due to stringent NHS suitability criteria. Consultant Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon, Mr Patrick Chong explains the symptoms and best treatment options.
What are varicose veins?
Veins return blood to the heart using precise ‘one-way’ valves working within the veins. When vein valves stop working or become damaged, blood can flow backwards and collect in the vein, which most commonly occurs in the legs. This can cause veins to become enlarged or swollen, usually appearing dark purple or blue and lumpy. Risk of varicose veins increases during pregnancy, when overweight and in old age.
What are the symptoms?
More than 33,000 patients undergo varicose vein surgery annually in the UK new guidelines last summer recommending less invasive methods such as Endovenous Laser and Radiofrequency Ablation techniques which use heat energy to permanently seal varicose veins. Both methods involve the insertion of a needle and sheath into the affected vein using ultrasound guidance for accuracy. Then laser or radiofrequency energy is used to seal the damaged vein. These techniques take only 45 – 90 minutes using local anaesthetic. Patients can return to work two to three days later.
Other than their appearance symptoms include achiness and pain in the affected vein, varicose eczema, pigmentation around the ankles and more advanced venous skin changes such as stubborn heel and leg ulcers. At present NHS patients in Surrey tend to fare better than in Hampshire as Hampshire requires the presence of advanced venous skin changes to be present before a patient is deemed eligible for treatment.
Traditional techniques
More than 33,000 patients undergo varicose vein surgery annually in the UK. Two thirds of these patients have open surgery under general anaesthetic which involves surgically tying and stripping out faulty veins from the leg. Recovery can be slow due to pain and bruising, and usually takes a fortnight. Patients are also left with a large scar in their groin crease or behind the knee and have a risk of surgical wound infection.
New techniques

Our aim is to make purchases as streamlined and fulfilling as possible. The Senior Designer from their Oxshott showroom says: ‘Personally I think defaulting to miniature versions of preferred products can be a mistake, the ergonomics of the room should be the main focal point when choosing the products.’ Quite often a corridor room can give way to a large shower wall to wall at one end, or even doing away with glass altogether in favour of a wet room can allow the basin 7 8 SEPTEMBER 2 0 1 5

Why Which Double Glazing Installer Homeowners Choose Is Important
W
hen a homeowner commits to making improvements to their abode one of the hardest choices they face is finding a reputable installer who they can be certain will a) do a quality job and b) stay in business, as the last thing anyone wants is to be scammed or left out of pocket due to negligent workmanship, or indeed a few years down the line find that the “guarantee” is not worth the paper it is written on. To assist householders and give them greater peace of 8 0 SEPTEMBER 2 0 1 5
mind when appointing an installation company, consumer champions Which? established an endorsement scheme labelled ‘Which? Trusted Traders’. Back in 2014 the region’s largest independent double glazing manufacturers and installers, Hazlemere Window Company, joined this prestigious scheme after they passed an intense assessment process, proving that they met the strict requirements set out by Which? and satisfy the high standards they expect of a local and reliable trader. To be recognised in this way is an extremely prestigious
achievement’ for any supplier, particularly as 25% of traders fail during the assessment stage. It demonstrates to customers that those who achieve Which Trusted Trader status have proven themselves as having been trustworthy up to that point, and that they are firmly committed to offering complete fairness and transparency at all times. Having such status enables us to display the Which? Trusted Traders logo on all marketing materials which will give customers added confidence when choosing a double glazing supplier ahead of any other local installation company. Which? Trusted Traders also provides its own ombudsman service which supplies an independent dispute resolution whenever any issues arise between a customer and scheme member. This is just the latest in a series of industry recognised accreditations that Hazlemere Window Company Ltd holds, as they are also FENSA Registered Installers (No. 10589), ISO 9001 accredited for quality management and ISO 14001 for waste management, as they re-cycle all the old windows, doors and conservatories they remove. In addition Hazlemere provide an independent insurance backed warranty with every window or door or conservatory they install.
Hazlemere provide an independent insurance backed warranty with every window or door or conservatory they install Then in 2015 to further reinforce their credentials Hazlemere Windows became members of the Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF), signing up to the GGF’s Consumer Code of Good Practice, ensuring any deposits paid by consumers are protected by the GGF’s Deposit Indemnity Fund. Some double glazing companies are sadly still renowned even in these more consumer informed times for dubious selling techniques - so it’s really little wonder that only around 6% of Which? members say they trust glazing firms. No wonder then, that the vast majority of Which? members who took part in the survey in 2014 decided to use independent double glazing installers to carry out work on their properties rather than use big brand names, with some citing the traders’ need to maintain their strong reputations in the community as the reason for going local. In 2014, Which? asked 2,872 of their members questions concerning their experience of double glazing installation and companies. All had double glazing installed in the previous 5 years with either a local/independent firm or a big name such as Anglian, Everest, Safestyle or Zenith. Which? asked them to rate the double glazing supplier they used for various aspects of their experience, such as quotation process and customer service. This Which? double glazing company customer satisfaction survey carried out last year showed that the big four national brands – Zenith (40% customer satisfaction), Safestyle (54%), Anglian (56%) and Everest (59%) did
not do as well as local independent companies and traders who had a much higher customer satisfaction rating of 82%. Which? is unbiased and are independent consumer champions, who say they buy every product they test and don’t accept at face value what any “advertising” might claim, so it is therefore advice consumers can trust. When deciding to replace windows or doors Which? advises that you should contact at least three glaziers and organise for them to visit you at home. Some double glazing companies still sadly use aggressive sales techniques. If whilst in your home a double glazing sales person starts offering time-sensitive discounts, or calls ‘head office’ and similar scams, then alarm bells should sound. The aim of each visit to your home should be for you to end up with 3 comparable quotes in writing and to meet the firm that will be spending days or weeks at your property. A good double glazing supplier should never pressure you into a sale – never agree to anything on the spot. As Which? advises “remember that the cheapest quote might not be the best.” Recommendations count for a lot in the glazing industry. If friends, family or neighbours can’t help, look at reviews for local glazing companies on Which? Trusted Traders. Seek evidence of appropriate specialties – as for example a double glazing company might be experts in aluminium or UPVC double glazing, or casement and sash windows or say timber windows. Those that rate well on customer service skills are more likely to resolve any future problems with the product or the installation.

Say Goodbye to Summer
with a Smile was somewhere else. It’s an extension of the home and also somewhere we can escape to. “
Warm Away the Winter Blues
Getting caught in torrential downpours will leave you freezing and soaked from head to toe, but a built in steam room is the best form of winter warmer that’s sure to get your circulation going. Each Origin Leisure swimming pool can be tailored to include different features. During the autumn months a steam room and sauna are ideal for warming your cockles, while adding a few drops of essential oils will also lift your mood. Lemon oil has uplifting qualities to put a spring in your step, while a few drops of lavender or sandlewood will help you wind down after a busy day. Eucalyptus oil is also great for warning off autumn colds and flu.
T
he last days of summer are, for some, a time to put away the flip flops, put down the holiday novel and pack away the swimming costumes as the cold and wet weather sets in. The shorter days and darker nights, however, are no reason to batten down the hatches. Despite the weather making it just that little bit harder to find the motivation for an evening run or morning workout, there’s no reason that rain should stop
Stay Motivated
With the changing seasons comes the urge to hang up the gym gear and go into hibernation, but research shows that keeping up the exercise will keep the seasonal blues at bay and leave you feeling on top of the world. Staying motivated is no mean feat in September and October when darker evenings make it less safe to use the great outdoors as a place to work out, and you’re often battling against wind and rain. That’s why many Origin

While outdoor pools need to be shut down for winter, an Origin Leisure indoor pool can be enjoyed all year round. What’s more, the dark winter nights are the ideal backdrop to showcase beautiful bespoke interior pool house lighting, great for entertaining; while a warm pool building lets you soak up views of the garden all year round, without feeling the frost. In fact, there may be more benefits of a home swimming pool in winter than you realise.
Enjoy the Garden All Year Round
The latest research shows that the average British homeowner spends nearly 20 days a year gardening. Sadly, as soon as the sun disappears it leaves us little time to enjoy all our hard work. Origin Leisure can incorporate thermally efficient bi-folding doors in any pool house design, meaning you can enjoy a perfect view of the garden all year round. Kerrie Smith and her family experienced the benefits of bi-fold doors in their pool house, as she explains: “Even when the sun isn’t out you still have the warmth of the building. The bi-fold doors are wonderful as it can be chucking down with rain and it doesn’t matter. The children can still get out the house to play somewhere safe and warm. The weather was so bad this winter at one point and I was so grateful to be able to go into the building, sink into the sofa, close my eyes and pretend I 8 4 SEPTEMBER 2 0 1 5

The flurry of summer soirees needn’t come to an end in autumn, as a pool house is the perfect venue to host gatherings with friends and family when it’s not quite hot enough for a garden party. Relax In Style name you swore never to repeat. After tireless testing you’ve bagged your dream sofa and you’ve scoured car boot sales to find the perfect vintage lamp. Your curtains are made to measure, so why aren’t your radiators? 4. Castrads produces cast iron radiators that are custombuilt at off-the-shelf prices. Choose a finish that contrasts with your walls and the exact size to fit your space. 5. Pay only for the heat you need. Most radiators are made to standard sizes. Cast iron radiators from Castrads are hand assembled to give the exact amount of heat you need.
R
adiator valves have come a long way since the invention of the cast iron radiator. Central heating has been around since Ancient Roman times leading to technological advances throughout the centuries. The heating system we know today was invented in the late 18th Century. Since then the basic technology has remained the same, however the valves in which we use help determine the efficiency of our radiators. Castrads have designed and developed their very own matching set of radiator valves, working directly with the foundry. The new Windsor corner fitting TRVs allowing pipework to exit through the wall and matching the rest of the Windsor family. As a bespoke radiator company, we can work to your current pipework creating a radiator section by section to make installing new radiators an easy task. Corner valves look great on wall bracketed cast iron radiators and steel radiators too. With a standard ½” BSP outlet and 15mm pipe inlet, they’ll fit any modern radiator and our cast iron radiators. Why not replace the valves you have and not only create a beautiful aesthetic, become efficient too!
Use the advanced calculators at www.castrads.com/ calculators to work out exactly how much heat’s required and save money by getting a radiator that balances the heat loss. Byron Cottage | ockham, Surrey
B
uilt by Birchwood Homes, Byron Cottage is a stunning semi-detached country cottage approached via a gated entrance, formerly set within the grounds of The Hautboy. Providing character features, including vaulted ceilings and a wood burning stove, in an open plan easy-to-maintain new build home, the cottage has a private garden and benefits from two parking spaces and one visitor’s space. The location has an interesting history, briefly being that the Hautboy Inn was built in 1864 by William, 1st Earl of Lovelace, Lord Lieutenant of Surrey and owner of Ockham Park, replacing the old Hautboy and Fiddle Inn at Bridge End, Ockham which the Earl had acquired in 1853. In 1835 Lovelace, then Lord King, married Augustus Ada, the only daughter of the famous Poet, Lord Byron, hence the cottage name. The Earl of Lovelace died in 1893 and his Ockham estates, including the Hautboy, were inherited
by his elder surviving son, Sir Ralph Milbanke, 2nd Earl of Lovelace and finally by his granddaughter Judith Baroness Wentworth. Upon her death in 1957, the Hautboy, like the rest of the Ockham property, passed out of the family, gradually losing much of its original splendour. It has now been restored to its former glory, albeit as a residential property rather than an Inn. Byron Cottage is surrounded by beautiful English countryside, scenic woodland walks, fantastic local riding facilities and the very popular local pub, ‘The Black Swan’. Ockham village lies to the east of the A3 between Cobham and Guildford, where you will find a selection of excellent local schools, retail outlets, restaurants and leisure facilities. RHS Wisley and the Surrey Hills are on the doorstep making this an ideal location for ramblers, horse riders and cyclists alike. EPC Rating: C. Guide Price: £650,000
