BusinessGrow for Owners/Managers★: Workshop for owners and managers, sessions range from hands-on operational topics, through to strategic big picture sessions.

Personal Trainers: Workshop for Personal Trainers. All sessions focuses on business elements of growing your PT business.

Sales ★: Workshop for salespeople in exercise facilities either full time or job sharing (reception/sales). ★ Indicates

that Owners/Managers and Sales are combined in regional areas (everywhere excluding Auckland/ Wellington/Christchurch).

General Information 1) In the main centres (Auckland/Wellington/ Christchurch) there will be 3 separate session streams (as shown on this page) Owners/ Managers, Sales and Personal Trainers. 2) All other centres there will be 2 streams Owners/Managers/Sales and Personal Trainers (the content for the Owners/Managers and Sales sessions will be combined). 3) All venues include catering – (Please note if you have specific dietary requirements it is advisable to bring your own food). 4) Presenters for each session may vary slightly depending on the location. 5) All venues will begin with an update on Key Industry Issues (for everyone). 6) All cities run 10am-3pm EXCEPT Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch where the sessions are extended to run from 9.30am to 3.30pm (3.00pm for Personal Trainers) Extended opportunities exist for networking as well as separate sessions specific to sales.


BusinessGrow Speaker Profiles Scott Krywulycz(1) Scott is one of Australias leading Personal Trainers and has mentored many trainers on the principles of running a successful Personal Training business. Scott has many proven ideas to assist you in growing your Personal Training business.

Dave Liow (1) Dave is a qualified coach and mentor and has lectured and worked with hundreds of trainers mentoring them in technical, business and personal development. Dave moved from NZ to live in the Sunshine Coast in 2009 to live in eternal summer with his wife and two young daughters, while directing his health and fitness businesses in New Zealand. He also developed a 6-figure part time PT business in six months on his arrival in Australia from scratch. Dave really enjoys developing businesses vision with trainers, and creating actions and system to drive momentum to create their dream job and life.

Broni McSweeney Owner of Catch Fitness has provided on going educational and networking opportunities, publications and support for fitness professionals in Christchurch, since 2006, to rave reviews. Broni now also sits on the Active Canterbury Network, lectures at CPIT in Business, Exercise Science and Body Conditioning and for the last two years has also run the highly successful 20 Week Body & Lifestyle Challenge for over 40 studios, mobile and club based personal trainers.

Angus Campbell(2) Began a 15+ year career in the fitness industry as a Personal Trainer specialising in exercise rehabilitation. He quickly moved into boutique club ownership and management. During the last 5 years he has been an owner and managing director of larger commercial club operations. His areas of experience and expertise are in membership sales, club management and continuously improving the fitness product. Angus has first hand experience in dealing with the many issues facing club owners/operators on a daily basis. He is currently a general cluster manager for the Cityfitness group.

Barry Watson(2) Barry’s business skills haven’t come from a university degree but from a dogged determination to be successful at whatever he puts his hand to. Having started his first business with only $2, Barry and his small part-time team cold called their way to turning over $100,000 in sales within the first 8 months of trading. He has had the privilege of being No 1 salesperson in several large NZ companies, both in an outbound call centre and in competitive B2B roles. In his current role as a ‘Sales Enthusiastic’ he works full time with many iconic results focused businesses within NZ and overseas. His approach to sales training is that it must make sense and make money. Barry understands what it takes to succeed in sales, even when you’re not the cheapest in town. Barry also possesses a contagious passion for life which you will be inspired by.

Tony Roddan GM of Business Development and Partnerships at Skills Active the standard setting and training organisation for the fitness industry. Prior to this role Tony owned a fitness facility in Taupo and also managed a council owned fitness facility. Tony understands the challenges faced by businesses and facilitates sessions aimed at providing solutions to some of those challenges.

Richard Beddie Former Club owner of over 15 years, and currently the CE of FitnessNZ. Richard has a wealth of knowledge and ideas which he is always willing to share. Richard also presents internationally, including at Filex, and he has also presented at conferences in Asia and Africa.
