Introduction

Hello Division 7! I hope everyone is having a great month and is ready for the holidays! First off I want to congratulate you all for being the most spirited division in the NJ District! We won the spirit stick at Fall Rally and I couldn’t be prouder! The District’s biggest concentration right now is Eliminathon. Please publicize this at your schools. This event has the potential to be extremely successful. Please be sure to read the page about it and ask me any questions you may have about the event. In my 6th issue, you will find a lot of updates from the district as well as some helpful tips, especially for the holidays! Please contact me with any questions! Thanks and happy reading! Yours in Caring and Service Josie Suddeth

Kiwanis Family Month

November is Kiwanis Family Month so many K-Family clubs hold joint projects during this month. Since it is the end of the month and there isn’t much time to plan a project , thank your Kiwanis Club for all they do for your club. Also, it can never be too early to start planning a joint project to celebrate Kiwanis Family Month 2015. K-Family Branches: Kiwanis: Adults Aktion Club: Special Needs Adults Circle K: College Key Club: High School Builders Club: Middle School K-Kids: Elementary School

Eliminathon Our Eliminathon will be on December 13th from 6pm-10 pm at Southern Regional High School in the 11/12 Gymnasium. How does it work? By using the google form on the link below, teams will sign up for the tournament. Each team must have at least 6 players and can have up to 9. Don't want to play? There will be plenty of room in the stands to watch the heated games. Be a part of screams that will determine the winners of the "Best Team Name" and "Best Costume" contests ! It is $5 per person to get into the event whether you are a player or a spectator. All students playing will need to arrive by 5:45 and must be ready to play their hearts out. You do not have to be part of Key Club to participate you just need to be a high school student. How do I get the word out about the event to my school? What I recommend doing is have a meeting open to anyone in the entire school who is interested in learning more (publicized by announcements,), Share all the information with them and get them to sign up! Make sure to stress that they sign up for the Division 7 & 8 Eliminathon on the google form. If you think getting people to sign up using the form will be a problem use the packet I sent via email. Teams are allowed to walk in but if a team is confirmed please have them sign up ahead of time. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1qeL07iPm0z25E4_hd4CaI8nH7 c07zCiN7MNg7v7rfpk/viewform?c=0&w=1

Fall Rally Recap

On October 12th, the NJ District held its annual Fall Rally. We surpassed our attendance goal and had 3031 Key Clubbers in attendance. The day started out with a fun session and then clubs had the option to roam the park for the rest of the day. During the session our division won the spirit stick for being the loudest division in the district and I couldn’t be prouder!Key Clubbers from Central Regional, MATES, Manchester Township, Southern Regional and Toms River North were in attendance. Shout out to Southern for being an amazing host club and making beautiful decorations! It was a great day!

Outside Organizations All Service men and women are extraordinary for risking their lives for our freedom. Some give the ultimate sacrifice but the sacrifice taken by survivors is not a light one. Many service men and women suffer from serious physical injuries, PTSD, and more upon returning home. The Wounded Warrior raises awareness and enlists the public's aid for the needs of injured service members. This organization helps injured service members aid and assists each other and provides unique, direct programs and services to meet the needs of injured service members. As of the beginning of November, this organization had helped 59,710 service members and 8,482 family members. What can my club do to help those who help protect my freedom? The Wounded Warrior Project is always accepting donations. Set aside money in your clubs budget or hold a fundraiser that tends to be successful for your club. The Wounded Warrior Project runs 8 k runs but there are sadly none in our area. Sponsorships are always appreciated towards these events though. If you have any questions regarding The Wounded Warrior Project please contact your lieutenant governor or visit http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/.

Holiday Service Projects and Fundraisers How terrible is it to think that many children this holiday season won’t experience the joys of the holidays? No gifts, no special dinner, no cheer. The childhood magic of this time of year will be lost and this day of celebration will have no strong significance.

Key Clubs can help this terrible situation through a variety of projects. Set up a toy collection drive and then donate the toys to Toys for Tots or a local charity that does the same thing. Serving the children of the world while enabling their childhood to be a little more normal. Food drives are also very successful during this time. Collect food donations from the school community. Then donate the food to a food pantry that organizes holiday dinners. As we move into the winter months, coat drives become even more helpful for those in need. Run a giving tree through your school to get donations and then donate the coats. Not only brightening Christmas day projects are successful during this time. Hold a party! Host a Christmas party at a local elementary school. Brighten children’s spirits this holiday season by doing crafts, eating, reading stories and just spreading good cheer!

Why not give the gift of life this Christmas? Holiday themed fundraisers for the Eliminate Project are also a great idea. Hold a Christmas Cookie Making contest to raise funds for Eliminate. Collect donations from local grocery stores, collect a fee from those entering and then sell the rest of the cookies as a Christmas Cookie Bake Sale. Another possible option is to hold a series of hot chocolate sales. Collect donations from stores then warm the students as they warm their hearts knowing that they just saved a child’s life.
