NORTHFIELD, VT – The military academy from which graduated America’s original ROTC cadets is celebrating another groundbreaking first: The Norwich University Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning, and Allies Club (NULGBTQA) is hosting the school’s first gay pride week. The weeklong commemoration, which began on Monday, will culminate on Saturday with the school’s first Queer Prom, which will be attended by Vermont Gov. In a statement, Joshua Fontanez, the president of NULGBTQA and the third-highest-ranking member of the Norwich University Corps of Cadets, said that the weeklong commemoration is meant to highlight patriotism and equality, and to try to educate the public about the challenges and issues faced by LGBT persons, including bullying, harassment, HIV and bias, based upon sexual identity. ‘ARMY GAY PRIDE’ continues on Page 8

Berlin Says “Wilkommen!” to Greater Fort Lauderdale LGBT Tourism Officials

that the rate of infections for HIV/AIDS in South Florida rose last years. The numbers reflect the nation’s worst incidents of HIV/ AIDS in spite of efforts to control its spread. The rate of new HIV infections was greatest in Palm Beach County, which saw a 30 percent increase from last year, followed closely by Broward County with a 25 percent increase. Statewide, that number rose more than onein-five, or 21 percent. New AIDS cases rose 6 to 8 percent in Broward and Palm Beach. Officials say artificially inflated stats reflect part of the increase, the results of changes to the counting methodology now being used by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). They likewise note that approximately half of the new reported cases came from MSMs (men who sleep with men).

BERLIN, GERMANY FORT LAUDERDALE – This month, the Greater Fort Lauderdale Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (GFLGLCC) sent representatives to attend the annual ITB Travel show, in Berlin, Germany. Keith Blackburn, president and CEO of the GFLGLCC reports that more than 113,000 trade visitors and nearly 60,000 consumers were in attendance at the Messe Berlin Convention Center. The attendees had come to see 10,644 exhibitors from 187 countries, including those representing Greater Fort Lauderdale and its LGBT community. The chamber reps had set up an exhibition area in coordination with the Greater Fort Lauderdale-based International Gay and Lesbian Travel Association (IGLTA), a stand that ranked Number 13 among NGO/Non-Profits by the Cologne Business School for their annual ITB “Best Exhibitor Award.” Berlin Mayor Klaus Wowereit paid an official visit to the booth. The GFLGLCC was formed last year by members of Broward County’s LGBT business community, with a mission that includes promoting business and economic opportunities for the LGBT and LGBTfriendly community, promoting tourism with a unified approach, and serving as an advocate and resource for all equalitypromoting member businesses. It is a 501c (6) non-profit organization. The GFLGLCC’s mission to Berlin was endorsed by the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB). Broward HIV/AIDS Numbers Still Increasing FORT LAUDERDALE – A new report from the Florida Department of Health shows

In Broward County, there were more than 1,000 new reported HIV cases in 2011, which translates to 59 cases per 100,000 people, an increase from about 55 cases per 100,000 the previous year. Since 2008, Broward has had the highest per-capita infection rate in the U.S. Last year, CDC officials met to outline the elements of a major new and well-funded anti-AIDS campaign. There were 407 new HIV cases reported in Palm Beach County last year or 30.7 per capita. It is one of a dozen metropolitan areas with the highest infection rates. MiamiDade County has the nation’s second highest rate of infection.

The Body Beach Challenge is an eightweek-long community-wide weight loss program targeting men, women and children aged 15 to 80 years old, whom Jackson would like to see shed their excess weight. The Challenge will kick off on April 7 and run through June 2--just in time for the arrival of summer. Part of the event’s proceeds will benefit the 2012 Florida AIDS Walk and Music Festival. In addition, prizes will be awarded to the winners. Jackson says his goal is to set up the participants to succeed, with an April 7 initial meeting at Push Fitness, at 1098 Floranada Road in Oakland Park. Participants will have their weight recorded and body fat measured. Those measurements will be taken again on Saturday, June 2. The individual with the most dramatic improvement— which will include average weight loss and body fat percentage decrease--will be declared the winner, with the grand prize including a $400 personal training package at Push Fitness. “The $25 registration fee benefits the 2012 Florida AIDS Walk and Music Festival,” notes Jackson. Those who take part will also receive a Body Transformation Guide with weight loss and healthy living guidelines, as well as a spiral bound Daily Exercise and Nutrition Guidebook. For more information and to register, visit pushfitnessftl.com.

“Bully” To Be Released Without a Rating AMC Theaters Allows Teens to View

When it opens March 30, minors will be allowed to see the controversial documentary “Bully” at AMC Theaters nationwide, despite being officially rated “R” by the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA). Refuting the censors, producer Harvey Weinstein, whose Weinstein Company is distributing the film, responded by releasing it without any ratings designation. According to the theater chain’s website, “AMC Theaters believes people of all ages can benefit from the message of this film. That's why we are allowing all guests to experience the version of this film that is not rated." AMC is requiring those 17 or younger to be accompanied by a guardian, or bring a signed permission slip, available for download. The film, directed by Lee Hirsch and following the exploits of five teens affected by bullying, has been a topic of hot debate over the past month. The Motion Picture Association of America slapped the film with an R rating because of language.

Republican U.S. Senator:Time to “Move On” from Same-Sex White House: Don’t Marriage Debate Read Too Much into BOSTON, MA – Last week, First Lady’s Remarks U.S. Sen. Scott Brown (R-MA) told

MICHELLE OBAMA

WASHINGTON, DC - White House officials are clarifying remarks made last week by Michelle Obama during a New York City fundraiser, explaining that the First Lady was not trying to imply that President Obama’s Supreme Court nominees support same-sex marriage, and that she was not endorsing marriage equality on her own behalf or that of the president. “For the first time in history, our daughters and our sons watched three women take their seat on our nation’s highest court. And let us not forget what their decisions--the impact those decisions will have on our lives for decades to come--on our privacy and security, on whether we can speak freely, worship openly, and, yes, love whomever we choose. But that’s what’s at stake. That’s the choice that we face,” Obama said on March 19. “That is a reference to the president’s position on the Defense of Marriage Act [DOMA],” White House press secretary Jay Carney said afterwards, referring to the 1996 law that federally defines marriage as between a man and a woman. In 2011, the Obama administration announced that part of DOMA was unconstitutional and ordered the Justice Department to stop defending the law in court. There were those on the political left who were hoping that the First Lady was making reference to marriage equality as well as signaling a White House plan to appoint Supreme Court justices who support gay marriages.

CNN’s Piers Morgan that the gay marriage debate has been “settled” in Massachusetts, and said that opponents of marriage equality should “move on” and focus on economic matters. “It’s settled law in Massachusetts. Quite frankly, everybody’s moved on,” said Brown on the March 19 broadcast of “Piers Morgan Tonight.” In the past, Brown has said that he opposes marriage equality, but he has never made it a campaign theme. The Republican split with his party in supporting President Obama’s repeal of the Pentagon’s Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell (DADT) policy.

SEN. SCOTT BROWN (R-MA)

“We’ve moved on. I encourage everyone else to move on,” Brown told the CNN host. “It should be decided state by state basis. I’m focusing on those other things.” Democrats say that Brown’s record on LGBT rights leaves much to be desired. They point to his opposition of non-discrimination legislation for LGBT persons, and his refusal to take part in an anti-bullying video. “If Scott Brown thinks marriage equality is settled law in Massachusetts, he should talk to the thousands of gay couples whose marriages aren’t recognized by the federal government,” said Kevin Franck, spokesman for the Massachusetts Democratic Party. Brown is in a re-election race for his U.S. Senate seat, the one formerly held by the late Ted Kennedy. His presumed Democratic opponent, Harvard law professor and former U.S. Treasury Department official Elizabeth Warren, has been endorsed by the Human Rights Campaign.

Broward House and Poverello are just two of the many great organizations that we are proud to support and help in a tangible way.” As noted by Marzola, the first contribution from the commission earned by Wilfong and Daso will benefit local service organization Broward House. That group was selected by the pair’s client/seller, Jim Blasi. “Another listing is pending and, upon closing, the designated charity is Poverello,” explains Daso, who, along with Wilfong, has been a real estate professional for six years, a job they started six years after moving here. “We just wanted to give something back to our community,” Daso adds, matter-of-factly. In addition to their charitable efforts, Wilfong and Daso have just finished shooting an episode of HGTV’s “House Hunters.” Their segment will air on the cable network in about three months. “Our clients Marcel Lebrun and Carl Daniels asked if we wanted to do it,” recalls Daso, “and of course we said yes! They would like to see that goodwill banked and used for the good of themselves and the entire region. “We hope to promote our area as an affordable and highly desirable area to buy and sell real estate,” Daso adds. BIG COMPANIES EASE THE TAX BURDEN ON SAME-SEX EMPLOYEE COUPLES By RORY BARBAROSSA

NEW YORK, NY – The growing support for LGBT rights among American corporate leaders is turning into tangible results for the nation’s LGBT workers, with a growing number of blue chips and other companies offering non-fiduciary benefits and other forms of compensation to their LGBT workforces, and their partners: married, domestic, or what have you. For example, Ernst & Young, one of the nation’s largest accounting firms, is one of about three-dozen companies that now compensate their LGBT employees because of a provision in the tax code that requires them to pay income taxes on their partners’ health benefits—an amount that straight married couples are not required to pay. Approximately three-dozen companies now offer the so-called “gross-up benefit,” which, the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) reports, is close to three times as many that offered the benefit just twelve months ago. HRC reports that other companies that began offering the benefit as of Jan. 1 include American Express, Bank of America, Microsoft, and Yahoo. Both HRC and legal experts say that the tax requirement is a federal issue, and therefore trumps even laws in states that recognize gay marriage.

“Four letters,” says Chris J. Mancini, a Broward County attorney who has represented many LGBT clients on domestic partnership issues. “D-OM-A.” Mancini, a former federal prosecutor, notes that the federal Defense of Marriage Act does not recognize same-sex couples as being married, even in the eight states that have legalized marriage equality. “Under DOMA and its federal spousal definitions, a man on his wife’s health plan doesn’t pay federal taxes on his share of benefits, but a man on his husband’s plan does,” Mancini explains. “Big Five” accounting firm Ernst & Young has offered benefits to same-sex domestic partners since 2002. The matter of the tax inequity came up during a town hall meeting held in November by the company’s diversity department. According to HRC estimates, the gross-up benefit provides an extra $1,200 on average to an employee’s family. Competitors KPMG and PricewaterhouseCoopers have likewise added the gross-up benefit gay employees and their partners. Bank of America offered domestic partner health benefits beginning in 1998: the company added the tax benefit this year for both domestic partners of employees and eligible children. H

Norwich is also the birthplace of the nation’s Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) program. The school was also among the first to admit women and African Americans into its Corps of Cadets. Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell was the policy prohibiting gay and lesbian military service members from openly declaring their sexual orientation.“The repeal [of DADT] is bringing a new wave of equality, a new wave of rights that so many generations have been waiting for,” Fontanez, from Brown Mills, New Jersey, told Vermont Public Radio [VPR]. The Norwich senior said that schoolmates didn’t know he is gay until after the repeal of DADT. The policy prohibited gay servicemembers from declaring their

sexual orientation without the fear of official reprisals. Fontanez, 22, plans to be commissioned as a U.S. Army infantry officer in May. He told VPR that he had always wanted to serve his country, but believed he would have to hide his sexuality. “It’s something I feel I was truly called toward and truly loved, so it’s great that I don’t have necessarily to make that sacrifice,” Fontanez said. In addition to the participation of Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin, Fontanez anticipates the return and support this week of many school alumni. “They are truly saying, ‘we’re proud to come back home. This is something we wish that happened when we were here,’” said Fontanez. The future officer says that 30 to 35 members attend the club’s meetings-about three-quarters of them from the school’s Corps of Cadets. Approximately 115 of the 200 graduating Corps of Cadets members plan to be commissioned in the U.S. armed forces through ROTC. H

Gay Cruise Passengers Arrested For Having Gay Sex in Caribbean

ROSEAU, DOMINICA — On March 22, two gay California men pleaded guilty after being arrested for indecent exposure and “buggery” during a cruise stop for a gay Caribbean sailing. John Robert Hart, 41, and Dennis Jay Mayer, 43, of Palm Springs, were arrested the previous day after police say that witnesses saw them having sex on the Celebrity Summit cruise ship as it was docked in Dominica, an island nation in the Lesser Antilles where consensual sex between men is a criminal offense. “We humbly apologize to the people of Dominica,” both men said during their hearing, adding that they regretted their offense. The couple’s lawyer, Bernadette Lambert, painted a picture of innocent abandon during the 30-minute hearing. “They were struck by the beautiful mountains, the clean and clear fresh air, and were having a few cocktails, and so threw caution to the wind,” she told the judge. Hart and Mayer were ordered to pay about $900 in fines by Chief Magistrate Evaline Baptiste, who called them “rogues and vagabonds.” Police boarded the Celebrity Summit on March 21 after an eyewitness in Rouseau, the capital of Dominica, reported seeing the men from the dock having sex onboard the ship. They were arrested on suspicion of “buggery,” the local equivalent of sodomy in the island, which has one of the lowest per capita gross domestic product (GDP) rates of Eastern Caribbean states, and is sometimes confused with the Dominican Republic. The Celebrity Summit departed Puerto Rico on March 17 carrying about 2,000 passengers. The cruise was organized by California-based Atlantis Events, a company that specializes in gay travel. The ship departed Dominica for St. Barts, leaving the men behind, held in a jail cell at police headquarters. Ian Douglas, the country’s Minster of Tourism, cautioned tourists to abide

by local regulations, and reproved cruise and tour officials for not making passengers aware of local laws. “It cannot be the responsibility of Dominica to screen guests and tourists before they come into the country,” said Douglas. “It is expected that any time people come to a country, they will respect the laws of the country.” Gay cruises to the Caribbean have become popular in spite of hostility to homosexuality on several islands, including Barbados, the Cayman Islands, and Jamaica. Cruisemates.com reports that no gay cruise lines sail to Barbados or Jamaica because of local homophobia and fear of violence. Other Caribbean states are more welcoming of LGBT tourists. Authorities in the Caribbean last intervened on a gay cruise n February 2011, when U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents arrested a California man aboard the vessel Allure of the Seas, which was docked in St. Thomas. Steven Krumholz pleaded guilty to dealing ecstasy, methamphetamine, and ketamine (which goes by the street name “Special K”) to other passengers.

The Nose Knows: Egyptian Official Resigns after Nose Job Scandal

CAIRO, EGYPT – The hard-line Al-Nour Party of Egypt announced last week that one of its leaders, Anwar al-Balkimy, has been expelled from the political group after officials learned that the conservative Member of Parliament had lied to them about a recent assault upon his person in order to cover up an even greater infamy: the fact that he had undergone a nose job. Al Jazeera reports that al-Balkimy, a parliamentarian with political ties to the even harder-lined Islamic Brotherhood, fabricated a story in which he was beaten by masked gunmen. The embarrassment over his nose job story forced the conservative Muslim to resign from the nation’s 40-day-old parliament. The truth came to light after fellow members of the religious Al-Nour party visited al-Balkimy in the hospital where he was recovering from what had originally been reported as injuries sustained in a mugging and assault.

Instead, they found out that al-Balkimy had gone to a Cairo clinic for rhinoplasty, then checked himself in to a second hospital where he told doctors that his bandaged face had resulted from an attempted carjacking in the desert. “Based on what the hospital officials said, we decided to expel him from the party, and so he submitted his resignation,” party spokesman Nader Bakar said on the organization’s official Facebook page. “We are trying to bring forth a new set of social values in politics based on Islamic principles. He may be suffering from an emotional disorder.” Though al-Balkimy has apologized for the incident, he could face prison time if convicted on charges related to filing a false report, including “creating anxiety among the public” and “worrying public officials,” according to Al Jazeera.

European Court of Human Rights: Gay Marriage is Not a Human Right

STRASBOURG, FRANCE – The European Court of Human Rights ruled last week that its member states are not required to grant access to marriage to same-sex couples. The judges were deciding upon the case of two gay women who are registered in France under a civil partnership. The couple argued that their status prevents them from adopting a child as a couple. The women, Valerie Gas and Nathalie Dubois, were asking the court to establish their marriage rights under European anti-discrimination laws. Among other rights the women were petitioning for Gas to be allowed to adopt Dubois’s 11 year-old daughter. But the judges said there had been no discrimination. “The European Convention on Human Rights does not require member states’ governments to grant same-sex couples access to marriage,” the court ruled. “With regard to married couples, the court considers that in view of the social, personal, and legal consequences of marriage, the applicants’ legal situation could not be said to be comparable to that of married couples,” they added. But the judges noted the importance of parity in all instances: “Where national legislation recognizes

registered partnerships between samesex, member states should aim to ensure that their legal status and their rights and obligations are equivalent to those of heterosexual couples in a similar situation.”

British Lawmaker calls Queen Elizabeth“A Kaleidoscope Queen”

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM —Queen Elizabeth II addressed both houses of Parliament last week to celebrate 60 years on the British throne. In an address scheduled to mark the sovereign’s diamond jubilee, Speaker of the House of Commons John Brecow raised a few eyebrows when he introduced the 85-year-old monarch as “a kaleidoscope queen of a kaleidoscope country.” Bercow, 49, is straight and married, but serves as the honorary president of the Kaleidoscope International Diversity Trust, a gay rights group which works to overturn anti-gay legislation across the world and to open dialogues between straight government officials and gay citizens in less tolerant countries. Telegraph columnist and blogger Damian Thompson suggested that Bercow’s comment was “a thinly disguised plug for gay marriage.” British Prime Minister David Cameron, who supports marriage equality, was clearly not amused by Bercow’s remarks, as his expression showed when it was captured on television just moments after the Speaker of Commons’ “kaleidoscopic” comments. Elizabeth II ascended the throne of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in 1952. “I am reassured that I am merely the second sovereign to celebrate a diamond jubilee,” the queen told officials. Only one other British monarch, Victoria, celebrated 60 years on the throne, in 1897 (she died in 1901). H

“First they came for the communists, and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a communist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a Jew. Then they came for me, and there was no one left to speak out.” Martin Niemöller

I

have this little game I enjoy playing. I can’t take credit for its invention, because it’s been played since time immemorial. It’s a variation on “what if ”? In microcosm, it can take the form of “what if my boyfriend didn’t start working two doors down right around the time we met?” On a more cosmic scale, one of my faves is “what if a Confederate soldier hadn’t misplaced Robert E. Lee’s Special Order 191?” (These detailed the South’s 1862 northern invasion plans. If these orders had not been found accidentally by a Union soldier, the Confederacy might have won the Civil War three years before the Union did historically.) “What if Hitler hadn’t been born?” These questions and what-if scenarios practically write themselves. Here’s another one, less famous: what if women had been allowed to retain the right to vote, instead of having the franchise taken away from them, as occurred historically in These United States? Lydia Chapin Taft (known as “the widow Josiah Taft”),

43, cast her first vote at a town hall meeting in Uxbridge, Massachusetts in October 1756. She is known to have cast at least two other votes. Following the American Revolution, New Jersey was the only state to allow women the voting franchise, from 1790 to 1807. (It is tempting to imagine some fat, powderedwig-wearing, Chris Christie-clone bloviating about the need to let the men of the state decide by referendum, and how grateful the women will be to have this sort of important decision taken off of their shoulders.) Even the-then despised Latter Day Saints (Mormons) granted their Utah sisters the voting franchise in 1870, only to have the U.S. Congress roll it back in 1887 with the Edmunds-Tucker Act, which likewise outlawed polygamy (as well as the Mormon Church itself, come to think of it). In 1917, American women who were still fighting for the right to vote compared President Woodrow Wilson to the despotic German emperor,

referring to him as “Kaiser Wilson” and comparing the plight of U.S. women to that of Germans suffering under the yoke of an Imperial tyrant. Looking back on our country’s history, I am embarrassed to point to the many examples where a Tyranny of the Majority not only kept certain rights and freedoms inaccessible to a disenfranchised minority ( Jim Crow, anyone?), but actually had the audacity to take those rights away once they had been granted, if only briefly. If this isn’t “un-American,” I don’t know what is. And yet it happened here. I wonder which of the current crop of national political candidates long for just such “good old days?” “We hold these truths to be selfevident,” begins one of the most important passages of America’s Declaration of Independence. I understand what Jefferson meant when he wrote the phrase “self-evident,” but these days, I’m having a hard time understanding who the hell he meant by “we.” H

CANDIDLY:

SCOTT GALVIN Your favorite virtue. These days, I’d like to see more honesty in the world. Patience wouldn’t be bad either. Your favorite qualities in a person. That’s hard to say. I am accepting of folks pretty much how they are. I don’t expect them to bend to my likings. Your chief characteristic. I’d like to think I’m hard-working and diligent. Others probably see me as a pain in the arse. What you appreciate most in your friends. Their patience. I work too much and socialize too little. Thus, I’m glad they put up with me! Your main fault. I work too much. Your favorite occupation. Someday, I hope to quarterback the Miami Dolphins. But, based on my age, it looks like the window of opportunity is closing quickly.

Your idea of happiness. Short term, seeing the Dolphins win the Super Bowl would cause me to be giddy for days. Long term, I’d just love to be able to sit in peace and quiet and enjoy my surroundings, petting my cats and surrounded by the family I love. Your favorite authors. These days, I read books of various topics. I just finished a bio on Evel Knievel and now am on a work of political fiction by Sen. Bob Graham. Of late, I haven’t stuck with any one author (sorry, “Twilight” fans). But as a kid, I read a ton of Mark Twain and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Your heroes in real life. I used to teach American History, so obviously, I have an affinity for all our great leaders, from Washington to Lincoln to MLK. But my most unique hero is Vanessa Williams. She had to withstand so much in being forced to give up her Miss America title in 1984. It’s somewhat forgotten today,

of them were impossible 4 years ago. We still have some way to go, but I feel so lucky to be alive and see us come this far.

What characters in history do you most dislike? Again, it’s easy to go with history’s big villains: Hitler, Pol Pot, Castro. But I’m very disappointed in some current U.S. politicians who preach an agenda of hate and intolerance, while holding up the Constitution and Bible as justification. This is 2012. Stop being angry. As Al Green once sang, “Put a little love in your heart.”

For what fault are you the most intolerant? Anger.

What do you hate the most? I hate that federal law still prohibits me, and all other gay men, from donating blood. It’s an outdated, discriminatory law and I look forward to President Obama overturning it in his second term. The reform you admire the most. Obviously, the progress of the LGBT movement. The openness and freedoms I enjoy now were unheard of 25 years ago when I was in high school. In fact, some

How do you wish to die? After the age of 100. I’ve told many friends it’s seriously a goal of mine to live to be at least 100.

The natural talent you’d like to be gifted with. I’ve always wished I could sing. But I can’t. Ask anyone Your personal motto. In my high school yearbook, I listed as my motto: “You’re only young once, but you can be immature indefinitely.” Today, I don’t act as goofy as I might wish, but I still make sure I don’t take myself too seriously.

WHAT’S INSIDE: As the month of March readies itself to turn into April, the things that make Florida such a great place to live become more evident. For those with a love of road trips, Orlando’s Big Boy Pride gets underway this weekend, with the Magic City likewise readying itself for next month’s Miami Beach Gay Pride (plan to stop by and say hello to us while you’re enjoying the sand and sun). You will find out more about both, OUT in Florida. Being originally from New Amsterdam (okay, it was called New York then, too, but work with me), I have only dreamed about the exotic old world charm of the original Amsterdam. Robert Elias Deaton dons wooden shoes and orange shirt, and takes us inside a city where “dyke” has an entirely different meaning, in this week’s Travel. Greater Fort Lauderdale abounds in great places to dine, and epicure-parexcellence Richard David Chamberlain takes us this week to Port Everglades’ Market 17, just a skip and a jump from the beauty of Fort Lauderdale Beach. The delicious Dining scoop is inside. Like my old gramma used to say: dum vivimus, vivamus! Fitness expert Tom Bonanti has advice to get you on the path to the Summer You. Chef Jean of Le Patio serves up a new Recipe, and we get a close look at what makes the café that she and Vero built the tiniest, cutest restaurant in town, with this week’s Spotlight. Happy April! 2012 MOVIES WILL GET BETTER Or Why “John Carter” Came Out in March By WARREN DAY

A

s far as the major studios are concerned, there are three seasons in which they release films, and once you understand that you’ll know why theaters are currently showing such dreck as “This Means War,” “Journey 2,” “Project X,” and “A Thousand Words.” None of these was able to muster even 50 percent positive reviews among critics and bloggers, who tend to give positive reviews to almost anything. “A Thousand Words” set a new record with an abysmal 0 percent rating, and “John Carter” is turning out to be one of the biggest bombs in movie history, losing Disney over 200 million dollars. From mid-January until the end of April, it’s the “Dump Season:” when studios tend to release the movies in which they have the least faith. There are several reasons that this time of year has the lowest movie attendance: winter weather, an increase in school activities, major sports events (Super Bowl, March Madness, etc.), along with other conditions. (It used to be that a large percentage of Roman Catholics didn’t attend movies during Lent, but that isn’t so true anymore.) Sometimes a studio will try to take advantage of the poor competition, and release one of their better films, such as “21 Jump Street” (the funniest movie of the year so far), or commence a new franchise, like “The Hunger Games,” a box office bonanza

that is attracting the same teenage girls who flocked to see the Twilight Saga—and critics say “Games” is better than the Twilight films--or to commemorate a calendar milestone, as with the April release of the 3D version of “Titanic” to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the maritime disaster. From May 1 until the third week of August, it’s the “Blockbuster Season:” when the most crowd-pleasing (and nonbrain-engaging) films show up in your local multiplex. It used to be that this season didn’t start until Memorial Day weekend (that’s when all the “Star Wars” films were originally released), but it has now progressed to the beginning of the month, hence the full offerings this May: MAY 4 “The Avengers” delivers a coterie of comic book heroes--Ironman, Thor, The Hulk, Captain America, etc. The trailer looks messy and disjointed, but this movie could be a fanboy’s wet dream. MAY 11 “Dark Shadows” is a high-rent version of a low-rent TV Gothic soap opera that ran during the 1960s. Directed by Tim Burton and starring Johnny Depp as the vampire Barnabas Collins, it promises to be both a hoot and a holler. MAY 11: “The Dictator” brings the far-out Sacha Baron Cohen (“Borat,” “Bruno”) and his far-out satirical style to the whims and woes of a despot. No bounds will abound. MAY 25: “Men in Black III.” Will Smith

and Tommy Lee Jones return in this highly popular series about how aliens (the out-ofthis world kind) are everywhere. They are joined by Josh Brolin and Emma Thompson, and even Lady Gaga makes an appearance. JUNE 1: “Snow White and the Huntsman” is the second film of the year based on the popular fairy tale (“Mirror Mirror” opens on March 30), but from the trailer this looks far more interesting, with Charlize Theron as the prototype evil Queen, Kristen Stewart as Snow White (turned into Joan of Arc), and Chris Hemsworth (“Thor”) as the hunter who absolutely deserves to be hunted. JUNE 8: “Prometheus” is one of the most anticipated films of the year, a prequel by director Ridley Scott to his classic sci-fi film “Alien.” The trailer is awesome, and so is the cast: Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Patrick Wilson, Guy Pierce, and Noomi Rapace (the original “Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”). JUNE 15: “Rock of Ages.” A film by openlygay director Adam Shankman--who also helmed “Hairspray”--it depicts Tom Cruise coming out as an aging rock star (who knew?). Based on the Broadway musical and filmed last year in Miami and Fort Lauderdale (hence the horrible traffic around Living Room and Revolution:LIVE last summer). JUNE 29: “Magic Mike” promises to be an eye-candy paradise for gay men and a nightmare for insecure straight ones. Directed by Academy Award winner Steven Soderbergh, it’s based on the true experiences of Channing Tatum when he worked as a male stripper in Tampa. The G-string-attired cast also features Matthew McConaughey, Matt Bomer (the openlygay hottie star of USA’s “White Collar”), Alex Pettyfer (“I Am Number Four”), and

FLORIDAAGENDA.COM

featuring Joe Manganiello (“True Blood”) as the aptly named “Big Dick Richie.” From the end of August until the middle of January, it’s the “Award-Seeking Season,” when the more prestigious, pedigreed, and Oscar buzz-generating films are unfurled. Beginning with the Venice Film Festival (August 29), and continuing with the Toronto, Telluride, and New York festivals through October 16, the critics and opinionmakers get their first look at the movies the studios feel are award contenders, giving those studios bragging rights and a bigger box office to boot. Of the last ten movies to win the Best Picture Oscar, all of them received their first showing at a film festival. The highly anticipated movies this fall include Stephen Spielberg’s “Lincoln” with Daniel Day Lewis, “The Great Gatsby” in 3D with Leonardo DiCaprio, “The Hobbit” starring Ian McKellen once again as the wizard Gandalf and directed by Peter Jackson, “Gravity” with George Clooney and Sandra Bullock, “Hope Springs” with Meryl Streep, and finally--and at last-the musical version of “Les Miserables” with Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, and Russell Crowe. From the trailers, it looks like a very promising time at the movies this summer and fall, but the trailers and the films don’t always line up. Once I accused a friend of wanting his life to be similar to the movies. He replied, “Oh no, I want it much better than that. I want it to be as good as the trailers.” H

STYLE BRIEF

MARCH 29, 2012 H 15

FLORIDA FAMILY ASSOCIATION:

GAYS HAVE CORRUPTED THE “STAR WARS” UNIVERSE Florida Family Association: Gays Have Corrupted the “Star Wars” Universe TAMPA – Fans of the “Stars Wars” film franchise may be surprised to learn that the “Old Republic” is still threatened—not by the evil Lords of the Sith but by members of the religious right who are expressing their anger at the creator of “Star Wars: The Old Republic,” because the makers of the popular online video game plan to allow players the option of simulating same-sex intimacy. In an alert sent to members and posted online last week, the Tampa-based Florida Family Association (FFA) suggested that the game designers could engineer a simulated “Darth VaPaula, a (mock) transgender version of Darth Vader--RuPaul, for kids to choose as their action player.” David Caton, the president of FFA, expressed dismay for the mere existence of gay and transgendered characters in the fictional Star Wars universe, which was originally created in the 1977 film, “Star Wars: A New Hope,” a movie that spawned a multi-billion dollar international film, software, fashion, and multimedia franchise. “There were no LGBT characters in any of the ‘Star Wars’ movies,” objected Caton, whose previous targets include the cartoon

“Family Guy,” and a successful campaign to scare sponsors from the reality series “AllAmerican Muslim.” Of BioWare’s game, the FFA alert claimed that “LGBT activists are demanding that the makers of Star Wars video games add LGBT characters for kids to select as their action figure when playing the games.” The “Star Wars: The Old Republic” video game is one of a genre known as Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games (MMORPG), in which players who have logged into a virtual gaming universe based upon the Star Wars films and other media, assume the role of characters who interact with other players and the artificial environment of the game’s “world.” The virtual characters are heavily customized, with options to choose species, gender—male or female only—and other features.

The FFA warning states that “Children and teens, who never thought anyway but heterosexual, are now given a choice to be lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender in their game player.” In fact, character “romances in “The Old Republic” are only initiated at the player’s option, and at present, only heterosexual relationships are available. BioWare officials have said that they will add same-sex relationship options in the future, which sparked outrage on the part of the religious right. “If BioWare, the maker of ‘Star Wars’ video games, adds LGBT characters for kids to select as their action figure,” added Caton in the FFA alert, “it could be something like Darth RuPaula, a combination of Darth Vader, one of the most popular ‘Star Wars’ characters, and RuPaul, the renown transgender cross

SO O O O O GAY!

dresser,” although his characterization of the performer is incorrect, as RuPaul is a drag entertainer, not a transgendered individual. FFA’s alert also claimed that “An overwhelming percentage of the 1.7 million games sold are being used by children who do not need to be introduced to this propaganda.” This contradicts research conducted over the past ten years, which shows that the average age of an MMORPG player is in the mid-20s, and that approximately 75% are 18 years or older. Experts say that such games are neither marketed to nor designed for children, as they require a credit card to pay the monthly fee. This is only the most recent in a string of attacks by the political and religious right against BioWare: Right Wing Watch reported that the American Decency Association condemned the software designer for pandering to “homosexual extremists.” And in January, the president of the Family Research Council slammed BioWare after it was announced that a same-sex intimacy option would soon be available for characters. In a weekly radio address titled “Rebel Fleet Surrenders to Gay Empire,” Tony Perkins said that “the biggest threat to the empire may be homosexual activists.” H

CITY COUNTY CREDIT UNION:

Homegrown and Helping to Grow Our Homes By DALE MADISON Gary Yamnitz knows his way around a credit union. The Wilton Manors branch manager at City County Credit Union (CCCU) began his career in financial services in 1984 with Sun Coast Schools Credit Union in Tampa. Fast forward 28 years and Yamnitz is bringing his vast depth and breadth of credit union experience to one of Broward County’s newest, the City County Credit Union branch which is set to celebrate three years in The Shoppes of Wilton Manors. “We are now getting about 40 new members per month in our branch,” reports Yamnitz, “in part due to the ‘Occupy’ movement.” That’s up from an average of 20 new members per month before national outrage was focused upon Wall Street. Yamnitz explains: “With people dumping their big banks, and the corporate greed of the system, people are fed up with fees.”

Part of the success of CCCU is Yamnitz’s empowerment of his staff to help members’ needs. “Contrary to the policies at big banks, I allow staff the flexibility to waive a fee that’s been charged to a member. They don’t have to wait for me to approve or to get clearance from the home office. It’s their discretion. I want our members to feel like they are part of the family, which quite frankly they are,” he adds with a smile. Yamnitz is often asked to explain the differences between banks and credit unions. “We are member owned,” he says of the latter. “When you bank here, you are a part owner. Several years ago when the economy was at its height, CCCU gave back over 1 million dollars to its members in dividends.” He illustrates the numbers and their benefit to members. “Let’s say, for example, you had $500 on deposit: on average, you

got a dividend of $20.00. Personally, I got about $1,500. And it always comes in handy,” he added. Of its community involvement, Yamnitz points to Father Bill of the Poverello Center, who, in December 2010 needed transportation to continue his ministry for people living with HIV/AIDS. A.J. Cross and others held a benefit to raise enough money to purchase a car. It raised nearly $9,000, but it was not enough to purchase the vehicle for Father Bill. Enter CCCU and its affiliate, Auto Branch. Between the two companies working with other vendors, a little gentle “arm twisting,” and the $9,000, Father Bill was given a nearly-new Toyota, a year of paid auto insurance, and a bumper-tobumper warranty. “We are very involved in the community,” Yamnitz notes proudly. “If you open a new checking or savings

account, City-County will pay for your first year Pride Center membership in the amount of $40.00, and will make a matching donation in your name to the Pride Center Building Fund. We also support four of the Pride Center’s teams: Youth, Hispanic, Senior, and, of course, Gay. Our motto is ‘People Helping People.’ It’s a motto that we truly believe in and live by,” Yamnitz told me. H

THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE... AND IMPROVE YOUR WORKOUTS! A Few Popular Myths Exposed By TOM BONANTI

I

have been a certified personal trainer for nine years. In that time I have read a lot, heard a lot, and I’ve seen most everything. Everyone has an opinion about how to build the best biceps, how to bulk up, cut up and trim down. Some of this information has proved invaluable and some of it is just plain bull! When I work with clients, I want them to know the truth. Let’s look at some common myths that just may be holding you back, or worse yet, could cause you harm. Myth # 1: If you want to build mass, cut out the cardio. Aerobic fitness is among the most preventative medicines available. What good is having gorgeous muscles if you drop dead of a stroke or heart attack! While building solid lean muscle is important, cardio vascular fitness is essential. And the best way to “pump up” the lungs and heart is by exercising aerobically. According to the International Sports Sciences Association, three to four 30-45 minute sessions of cardio per week will definitely help to build cardiovascular fitness. Tabulate your target heart rate (220 minus your age), then try to

get your heart rate to within 65 to 85 per cent of that number and keep it there for 20 minutes or so! Myth #2: I’m hurting, but if I just keep training, I can work through the pain. Only Neanderthal still believes the adage, “No pain, no gain.” This long running myth can potentially have dangerous effects on your body. There is a difference between real pain and the soreness and discomfort you feel after a really “kick-ass” workout. Experiencing pain during any fitness endeavor is a sign that your body is in trouble. Any indications of real pain should signal you to see a doctor. On the other hand, some muscle soreness can be expected a day or two after a really intense workout especially after you’ve experienced a lay off. This is called residual muscle soreness. Stretching, rest, massage and contrasting hot and cold showers can help ease this discomfort. Myth #3: I can only get “big” if I take the latest most expensive supplements and steroids. Just because a prominent bodybuilder is pitching a particular supplement or pro-

hormone in one of the muscle rags does not mean that you need to buy it or use it. You can achieve greatness in “muscledom” only by working hard in the gym, eating healthy and clean, and getting enough quality rest between workouts. Testosterone replacement therapy should be administered and monitored by a physician only, and should not be confused with juicing on anabolic steroids. Myths #4: In order to get “big” I need to workout everyday. Cumulative micro-trauma is the technical term for overtraining and it is nothing you should take lightly. Weight training every muscle group everyday without proper rest will result in muscle tears, joint pain, gross fatigue and eventually some serious injuries. Train each muscle group no more than twice a week for 20 minutes and make sure that muscle group gets 48 to 72 hours rest between training sessions. Take one to two days off from the weights each week, but stay active, do your cardio and eat properly. So there you have it – the bare-naked truth.

The best way to get the body you want is through hard work, healthy eating and reading the fitness column in this publication weekly! Contact TrainerTomB@aol.com for the real truth! ants first. No. Shoes first. Then belt. Then pants. Clothes off. My heart is too loud. Too fast. Shirt next. Kissing. Lots of kissing. Passionate. Intense. Lip biting, face grabbing. Things move too fast around us. Room spins. The television is on. I don’t care. I can’t hear it. I hear and feel only the heartbeats. It beats so hard it hurts. Fall on the bed. Toss and turn. Stomach in knots. The good kind. Sweat beads. Mixes. Stings our vision. Tastes salty. Wine spills from the nightstand. Red on carpet. So? Mouthwash is the taste. Cologne, the smell. Skin, all of the above. It isn’t passion. It’s ferocity. It’s going a million miles an hour in the same place. Standing still in the middle of a hurricane. It’s the whole world crammed into a single moment. Passion climaxes. The story enters resolution. Nighttime and alcohol approve this message. Morning comes and the wine is dried. CNN drones on. The clothes are as disheveled as they were--a floorfashion eruption. The heartbeat has softened. The smells are almost the same. Cologne, yes. Breath, eh. Question 1. Time? Find phone. Ignore those texts. Am I late for anything? Question 2. Regret? Absorb the room in the daytime. Absorb him. Evaluate my judgment. Is it what I remember it being? Do I remember anything at all? Question 3. Stay or go? Always go. If he is your knight, he will rescue you again. Leave politely. Graciously. He has a schedule, too. Question 4. The cliffhanger: But will I see him again? Factors to include: his enthusiasm, my enthusiasm. Consider cuddling, and Question 2. Question 5 (2 parts): What do I tell my friends? And how do I get home? Our questions answer the overarching introspective: did I hookup last night? We write entire romances in one night. One night might encompass: Courtship, Honeymoon, Trial, and Heartbreak. It also often includes the optional foreword: alcohol. But that it lasted only one night doesn’t mean it’s a hookup; it also doesn’t necessitate

the title “one-night stand” and the baggage (or lack of baggage) that comes with the label. To the status quo, the term “hookup” packs a wallop. It references a dalliance with suggestions of poor judgment, and reflects grander ambitions. A hookup is meaningless. It’s selfish and stereotypical. And it’s fun. Acceptable to some and practiced by many. Contrary to popular belief, though, duration has no relation to the label. A “hookup” may last one night, or it may last many nights (“Friends with Benefits” or “House Account,” anyone?). Likewise, romance--true and impassioned--may last one night only, when the situation is unrequited. When he decides not to call you; when, to him, the episode was onenight only, it becomes a hookup for him. Not for you. For you, a romance has taken place. Complete with your own tragic ending. To your friends, then, you answer honestly: “No, I didn’t hookup.” Smile. Perhaps there is a sixth question we romantics should add. One that we ask ourselves before we decide--in our drunken stupor--that he is the one: Can this wait for another time, maybe after we get to know one another? A million dollars says the answer is no, but it never hurts to ask. I hookup. Rarely. Very rarely. Okay, I hardly have a sex life. By choice, I hope. It’s not my style to have meaningless sex. You can do that with yourself. To me, it’s more about the story. To make love instead of f—. To cuddle rather than feel indifference. To wish for more instead of an end. To close your eyes, cross your fingers, and hope that he feels the same. H

DINING

MARKET 17

Hidden Oasis of Gastronomic Glee

By RICHARD DAVID CHAMBERLAIN

W

hen Oscar Wilde said, “After a good dinner one can forgive anybody, even one’s own relatives,” he must have been channeling Market 17. This elegant eatery located in the Portside Yachting Center is the brainchild of siblings Kirsta and Aaron Grauberger, who in any other life would have been born in a vineyard, such is their expertise around bottles of wine. While this may help explain the extensive wine menu with a selection numbering in the hundreds, it hardly prepares the hungry patron for the assortment of items on a dinner menu that changes nightly. That’s right—nightly. Never one to rest on her laurels, executive chef Lauren DeShields recreates your assortment of unusual offerings as if playing pickup-sticks. You just never know exactly how the palate will play.

On a recent outing with diet guru and society hostess Nikki Haskell, we took the plunge without checking the evening’s menu—though it is available mid-afternoon online at www.market17.net/menus. htm. The concept at Market

eating new foods. Translation: antelope satay ($15), served on a bed of soba noodles with a peanut dipping sauce. “You had what for dinner last night, dear? Antelope?” The look on your friends’ faces is worth the risk alone. Far less trendy, but just

“If the fish were any fresher, we would have had to scale it ourselves. ” 17 is farm fresh food…so fresh in fact that what’s plattered tonight was alive and growing this morning. While it may be tempting to skip the appetizer section and save your appetite for the entrees, part of the fun at Market 17 is the adventure of

as delicious: Market Vegetable Tempura ($12), featuring baby broccoli, snap peas, avocado and fennel with a spicy kimchi aioli. A winner, no matter how you clean the plate. (We used our index fingers when no one was looking.) Our server Brittany Peterson, otherwise known as the perkiest blonde since Gidget, recommended that I try the Grilled Florida Hereford Boneless Pork Chop ($23 in a petit portion; $36 for entrée size)— “you just can’t go wrong with Hereford pork, honestly.” Of course she was right. It was tender and pink and, when combined with my new favorite legume--smoked beluga lentils—may just win the taste prize of the night.

Mrs. Haskill disagreed, casting her vote firmly in favor of her perfectly cooked and flakey Pan Seared Wild Florida Red Snapper ($23/$36). She pointed out that if the fish were any fresher, we would have had to scale it ourselves. It wasn’t on the plate that long, of course. Nikki is tiny, but she knows her way around a fish fork. It was served crusted in something created by God herself, and served with herbroasted sunchokes. On our next visit, if it’s on the menu, I intend to try the Pan Seared Duck Breast And Duck Confit ($23/$39). This particular evening, while it was listed as an entrée, the ducks apparently were smarter than the hunters for none arrived in the kitchen despite it being on the shopping list. Happy Hour runs 5 to 7 p.m. nightly with half-priced drinks and appetizers at the bar. That includes the housemade sausages, the Market Ceviche, the Florida Middleneck Clams and Pork Belly, the Cornmeal Crusted Pigtails (if you have to ask, you don’t want to know), and yes, Antelope Satay—on any given day. Dining in the Dark is another Market 17 fave. In this test of skill and taste buds, you consume your food in a blackedout room with your fingers. There are night-vision goggles, but only for the servers. Clever Market 17. Tell them Florida Agenda sent you. H

SPOTLIGHT / RECIPE

MARCH 29, 2012 H 25

SPOTLIGHT: Le PATIO By DALE MADISON

D

o the names Jean Doherty and Veronique Leroux sound familiar? These women own one of the hottest little restaurants in South Florida. Le Patio boasts just 282 square feet, making it one of the most intimate dining places around. It has certainly become one of my favorite eateries. On April 1, the duo celebrates three years as proprietors of “the tiniest, cutest restaurant” in town. Sitting at the bar--which serves beer and wine—a sign caught my eye: “This is not Burger King: you don’t get it your way.” I chuckled about it as Veronique (“Vero”) quickly pointed out “that is NOT our philosophy! We will do what we can to make your dining experience just that, an experience.” Friends took me to Le Patio last month for my birthday, and it was one of the best meals I have ever had. That was not the first time that I had been

there, and I have always been intrigued by the tiny size of the place. When I finally caught up with these delightful women to get their back story, it turns out that it spans 24 years, and is fascinating. Doherty and Leroux met while both were working as sales reps for a company in Leon, Spain. Jean’s boss told her “you need to take the new rep out for training.” “At 4:00 p.m. we went to the local pub,” Doherty recalls. “Vero thought it was a test for her, but that was 4:00 p.m. and I think at 6:00 p.m. we were at U-Haul. Of course we all laugh about the fact that the girls always do that. We did rent a truck and moved in together. Been together ever since and neither of us can see us being apart,” she adds. Leroux picks up the story: “We bought a house together. Our

daughter Kathleen was so important in the relationship. She has been so supportive.” She remembers their first restaurant. “It was a little Tex-Mex with a bar,” recalls Leroux. “It worked out well but it wasn’t what we wanted.” It was while they owned the bar and restaurant in Leon, “The West Saloon,” that the couple made their partnership permanent. “The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence held our commitment ceremony,” says Doherty. “They waived a toilet bowl brush over us and pronounced us ‘wife and wife.’” Three years ago, Leroux and Doherty were scouting locations for their signature Wilton Manors café. “We wanted the space where the tattoo parlor is next to Matty’s,” says Doherty. “We called the owner and were told, ‘Sorry, I just leased it. BUT, I have another space around the corner.’ We met him and fell in love with the space.

And we have been so happy that we have it. It’s become our home.” Doherty and Leroux attribute the success of Le Patio to its patrons. “One of the greatest testaments for our little restaurant is 98 percent of our clientele is gay, one percent is lesbian, and one percent is straight,” says Doherty. “We love our gay boys. They come in, have a wonderful time, they bring in their mothers, and all have a great time, and we love them,” she adds. The couple is grateful also for their friends in the community. “If it not been for our general contractor, Jeb Sherer, I don’t know where we would be. He was our saving angel,” notes a thankful Doherty. “You know only one-in-10 restaurants succeed. We are proud to still be here and are energized every day to be here,” she says. H

RACK OF LAMB “EN CHEMISE This Week’s Delicious Recipe

By JEAN DOHERTY

G

rowing up in Ireland, my mother would inevitably overcook the lamb chops-burn ‘em right to a cinder! It was while living in France that I learned to eat lamb rare, enjoy it, and finally get to really taste it. Lamb tastes so good on its own, so the seasoning should compliment, not dominate it. A rack of lamb or “carré d’agneau” is a part of lamb which is cut perpendicularly to the spine, and has 16 ribs or chops. When it’s been “frenched,” the bones have been cleaned of their fat and they look like lolly pops when sliced off the “rack.” “En chemise” (French for “shirt on”) is a term used to describe ingredients which are wrapped in something, or which are cooked in their natural covering. For example: spuds with the skin on, or in this case garlic with its skin on. Garlic roasted “en chemise” is so delicious, even people who don’t like garlic love it. The only difficulty in this recipe is not to overcook the meat.

• A whole head of garlic • Fresh rosemary and sprigs of thyme • Salt & pepper • Olive oil • An 8 bone rack of lamb, trimmed and frenched and cut in half.

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Separate the cloves of garlic, without peeling them. Brush extra virgin olive oil all over the lamb and put it in an ovenproof dish, with the bones crossed like you would clasp your two hands together with your fingers. Season the meat well with salt and pepper. Place the garlic cloves and the rosemary under the “bridge” you have formed. Bake for about 20 or 25 minutes or until desired doneness. When you remove from the oven, let it rest for about 5 minutes before carving. Serve it with the garlic cloves in their skins, and sprinkled with fresh thyme. Serve with the side you love best..you are the chef!

Although born in Dublin, Ireland, chef Jean Doherty spent most of her life in Lyon, France, the gastronomical capital of the world. Together with Vero, her partner of 25 years, Jean has owned and run multiple restaurants including Fort Lauderdale’s Le Patio.
