WORD OF THE WEEK C J BY
HRISSY ONES
DIPPED: Exciting and erotic intercourse with penetration. More than just a quicky, the word dipped is reserved for physical ecstasy. You get the point. In a sentence--I've had lots of sex, but haven't been dipped in over a month.

Where & When A Sweet Tooth Hits, Call Sweetz 2 You
Sweetz 2 You, sweet morsels of sugary delights to your doorstep. Photos courtsey of Sweetz 2 You facebook. BY JAMEER
BAPTISTE
We’ve all been there before, when that sudden craving for something sweet attacks. It hits you fast and hard at a moments notice and the rest of your day is spent fantasying about a moist red velvet cupcake with buttercream frosting. Luckily for us, Justin McLamore has opened a dessert delivery service, Sweetz 2 You, that sells sweet morsels of sugary delights to your doorstep. “For some reason, desserts got lost over the years,” conveyed McLamore. “I want to bring them back and I love the idea of having them delivered to work.” McLamore has had a fascination with food ever since he stumbled across his grandmother’s cookbook at the age of four. Since then he has been hooked, eventually, utilizing his four younger siblings as testers during family mealtimes. Once he mastered the basics, he began to experiment with different ingredient combinations, which led him to forgo complete platters while out to eat in exchange for multiple appetizers to experience different flavors. On July 11, 2015, McLamore combined his passion for cooking with an emphasis on bite size portions and his desire to bring back desserts when he created Sweetz 2 You. McLamore homemade baked desserts are

appetizing, creative and adorable. You can order a box set of a dozen cupcakes of eight specified flavors like strawberry, mango pineapple or sweet potato directly from the website. Call in your order for an assorted box or to personalize the cupcake design and flavor to your own specifications. “Typically, I can make any flavor combination work,” assured McLamore. McLamore takes his cupcakes to the next level with flavors that customers are familiar with but would have never guessed work well together. Customers can also request customized flavors of their liking. McLamore provides customers with samples before producing a big order of personalized flavors. Sweetz 2 You offers a dessert catering service for a wide range of events like open houses, office parties and kid parties. Clients can requests all types of delicious desserts through the catering service whether it’s baked goods, candies or ice cream – everything to indulge your sweet tooth. Sweetz 2 You accepts special request for gluten free, vegan and vegetarian orders. Deliveries are made in the Tri-County area with most of Broward County at no charge. BARTENDER OF THE WEEK
Last Call With Damian Soriano, The Cuban American Crossover BY JAMEER
BAPTISTE
At 30 years of age, Damian Soriano is elated to call himself an American. In May of 2015, after six years in America, Soriano became a legal United States citizen. “Cuba is my country so I love it but I’m never going back,” says Soriano. “There’s nothing for me there.” Life in Cuba is restricted in so many ways. Travel out of Cuba is guarded under lock and key, and food supplies are rigidly regulated because there isn’t enough for everybody. Add to these any number of unique barriers faced by locals and anyone could conclude that achieving success in the country is near impossible. “You get your career and you work,” admits Soriano. “That’s your life in Cuba.” Make no mistake, you have the opportunity to choose your profession, but whether you’re a doctor or a schoolteacher, the government controls your wallet (and pretty much everything else.) This just so happens to be a conflict of interest for Soriano who is a headstrong, decisive and determined man. Since he was a little boy he has been a go-getter and has had a strong personality. It might have put him in the hot seat a few

times, but it has helped him make tough life choices and led him to his current happiness. “When I’m clear on what I want, I go after it no matter what,” says Soriano. “I’m not afraid to make decisions.” Soriano and his sister were the last two of his immediate family to arrive in the country. His grandmother has been in the States for the past 30 years. Then came his mother, 14 years thereafter. During that time, Soriano was living with his uncle in Cuba until he reached the age of 18 and ventured out on his own, only to live in his mother’s home which was given to the family by the government. “During the revolution, the government gave each family a house,” says Soriano. “When I was there, you could only switch homes with another family or friend if they wanted to move.” As a young adult in Cuba, most of Soriano's time was spent in school studying economics. He picked up some side modeling gigs and worked as a hairstylist to earn a living. In the meantime, Soriano’s mother was attempting to clear all of the legal hurdles in front of her to guarantee Soriano and his sister a place in the U.S. theguymag

Damian Soriano's Favorite Drink This special drink is Damian Sorianos favorite. He says “It’s very easy to make and I love how it taste” Not to mention he loves to play with the title of the drink, “Have you had enough sex yet?”
Sex On The Beach
Taste Damian's own creation with his signature splash of pineapple Recipe: 1 1/3 oz Vodka, 1 1/3 oz Cranberry juice, 2/3 oz Peach Schnapps, 1 1/3 oz Orange juice. Combine all ingredients into a highball glass, filled with ice. Garnish with a orange slice and a cherry.
“It’s very difficult to move out of Cuba, it’s almost like being in a prison,” remembers Soriano. After four years of paperwork and a deep hit to her pocketbook, Soriano’s mother accomplished her goal of bringing her children to their new home. At the time, it wasn’t Soriano’s top priority but after making the move, he has fallen in love with America and refers to it as his home. “I never imagined I could do so many things,” says Soriano. “It’s amazing the power you can have here.” Soriano quickly started to learn English and began to attend school. In college, Soriano received his Nursing Assistant Degree and went to work in a nursing home. Shortly thereafter, he went back to school and received his Phlebotomy Degree. However, after two years in the nursing field, Soriano realized that it wasn’t for him. It was too depressing and he was ready for a change. Soriano began working as a bouncer at a gay Miami nightclub for a year and then another gay Miami nightclub the following year until a friend suggested that he try his hand at bartending. share with us on guymag.net
Soriano took the suggestion seriously and went to Bartending School to receive his license. For the past three months, Soriano has been bartending at Club Bailo Miami on Wednesdays and Saturdays and at Wet Bar Miami on Fridays. “I love to smile and dance so it’s the perfect job for me,” says Soriano. “Behind the bar, I can be myself and sometimes someone else.” Soriano would like to thank MarytriniAlexis Fernandez, manager of Bailo and Wet Bar, for giving him the bartending opportunity. And he would like to give a special thank you to Milancita, South Florida's club promoter extraordinaire.

et’s be honest. All of us Floridians might as well be considered aquatic mammals for as much as we frequent the beach or dive into one of the many private and public pools throughout our state. And you can’t blame us, because living on the subtropical peninsula surrounded by water and soaked by sunshine, the liquid gold constantly lures us in for a cooling dip. It’s a pastime tradition that we adore and will never grow tired of, but that doesn’t mean we can’t be a bit more adventurous from time to time. Going to the same beach or luxuriating at our usual pool is convenient and familiar, but it can get monotonous, which sometimes takes the fun out of the whole experience. So why not bring the excitement back to our aquatic adventures by exploring different swim locations throughout Florida? share with us on guymag.net
oParrot Island Scuba Adventures Parrot Island Scuba Adventures (2850 NE 14th St. Causeway Pompano Beach FL 33062; 954-942-7333) is an open water snorkeling and diving exploration site that is sure to breathe life back into your aquatic outings. The dive sites are clear warm waters with vegetation and marine life at every turn. It’s a common occurrence when diving there to come in close contact with sea turtles, different schools of fish, eels, and even whale sharks. The underwater world is mysterious yet captivating. You can explore one of Parrot Islands 30 different shipwrecks or gaze at one of their three majestic coral reef lines that radiate with bright fluorescent shades of blue, red, orange and yellow. The family-owned business takes pride and joy in taking new adventure seekers out for their first Parrot Island excursion and welcomes regular divers by offering a diving club. theguymag

oParrot Cove Get back to being a kid again at Jungle Island’s Parrot Cove (1111 Parrot Jungle Trail Miami Florida 33132; 305-4007000) water playground, Parrot Cove. Located in the open waters of Biscayne Bay, Parrot Cove is a beach experience like no other. Swimmers enjoy a complete obstacle course of slides, swings, catapults, rock climbing, balance beams and trampolines all while in the water. By the time you’ve explored every inch of the water contraption, you will have fulfilled a full body workout. Parrot Cove also has high-tech water toys (Aqua-Jets) for rent that propel you in midair and allow you to hover above the water. You can reach heights of up to 30 feet above the water’s surface with speeds as fast as 25 mph – how’s that for accelerating? oVenetian Pool The Venetian Pool (2701 de Soto Boulevard, Coral Gables, FL 33134 305-460-5306) is a masterpiece of Mediterranean design built in 1923. Since then, the stunning pool has become a Coral Gables landmark included in the National Register of Historic Places-the only swimming pool with such designation. Everything about the 820,000-pool screams old world architecture from the two natural limestone waterfalls and cave-like grottos to the rustic bridges and two observation towers. The Venetian Pool is a true classic gem. The pool’s seasonal operation ends in September for this year. theguymag

oMorrison Springs Falling Waters State Park
Photo: (flickr.com)
oFalling Waters State Park In the Northwest region, you will find Florida’s tallest waterfall at Falling Waters State Park (1130 State Park Road Chipley FL 32428; 850-638-6130). The 73-foot waterfall is a testament to Mother Nature’s beauty. The water cascades down from a hilltop stream into bottomless sinkholes. Unfortunately, you are unable to swim in the waterfall because of its depth to nowhere, but you can observe its splendid beauty on boardwalks and viewing platforms at many different levels and angles along its path. There’s a lake within the park that has a designated swimming area for those who want to take a dip in Florida’s natural spring. Also in the park are nature trails, campgrounds and picnic areas. The best times to visit the park are during the late winter and early spring months when the waterfall is at its peak flow, which also occurs after heavy rain. It is a magnificent sight to be seen. share with us on guymag.net
Want a location where you can do it all-swim, scuba dive, enjoy the beach, boat and even cave dive--then make your way to Morrison Springs (Morrison Springs Road Caryville FL 32427; 850-892-8108) in Florida’s northwest region. Morrison Springs is one of Florida’s treasured natural springs that occupy 161 acres of water and land. The water stays at a cool temperature of 65 to 68 year-round and is crystal clear even in the underwater caves and caverns. On one end of the spring is a sandy beach area perfect for kids and those who don’t want to venture out into the deep areas. From the beach area, the spring extends out and reaches depths deep enough and far enough to allow small boats to cast off into the water without endangering swimmers and divers. Each area of the spring is clearly marked for designated use. The spring also has two diving docks for those who want to leap into the water. Huge, gorgeous cypress trees surround the spring all throughout the park area. Guest can enjoy a picnic and grill at the park but camping is strictly prohibited. The park is open to the public for free but make sure to swim with caution because there are no designated lifeguards. The park has two wheel-chair accessible boardwalks that provide an overview of the spring. theguymag

o Batter Up: Grab Your Crew And Hit It Out Of The Park
When it comes to team sports. there’s nothing like a great game of softball to corral the gang and keep the body in tiptop shape. The game of softball originated from the All-American sport baseball, which only differs slightly. The major difference between the two is that in softball the ball is pitched underhand and the number of innings are less than that in baseball. But other than that, the concept of the two games is the same and the physical and mental benefits associated with each are identical across the board. Like most other sports, softball has been proven to increase one’s mental health by promoting teamwork, developing leadership skills and improving self-esteem. Moreover, it’s a fun way to relieve stress and tension while gathering and joking with your buddies. The sport has been also known to build lifelong friendships as team members learn to rely on one another, thus further developing trust among all parties involved. The body’s physical appearance along with agility and flexibility will improve as well. Softball is a sport of many quick bursts of energetic movements, whether it’s pitching the ball, wielding a bat, sprinting to safety or catching a ball. Each position requires the entire body’s muscles to be in the game all the way down from the lower body to the upper body. Softball is also known to help with coordination, which is essential for batting, catching and tossing the ball to your teammates. Softball fields are ubiquitous and in many cases free to the public. But even if there isn’t a softball field in your immediate area, a baseball field is more than suitable. If neither a softball or baseball field is readily available, creating your own diamond head is as easy as one, two, three as long as you have a decent sized space. In Fort Lauderdale, Mills Pond Park (2201 NW 9th Avenue Fort Lauderdale FL 33311; 954-828-8943) and Holiday Park (1150 G. Harold Martin Drive Fort Lauderdale FL 33304; 954-828-5383) both have well-maintained softball fields available to the public. A great way to become part of a team and make softball friends is to join the South Florida Amateur Athletic Association (SFAAA). SFAAA is a LGBT softball league based out of Fort Lauderdale, which provides safe and competitive softball teams for both gays and allies. To learn more about the SFAAA visit their website at www.sfaaasoftball.com.

RESORT
When Nature & Gays Combine, You Get Sawmill Resort BY JAMEER
BAPTISTE
Sawmill Resort and Campground is a wilderness paradise for the LGBT community. Both men and women have been enjoying the outdoorsy camp life experience for more than 15 years. The campsite is in a great location only minutes from grocery stores, Walmart and other shops - so you don’t have to worry about being caught in any scary horror flick scene. However, since the gated compound sits on 120 acres, you feel as though you are removed from civilization in your own gay wilderness community – it’s the best of both worlds. There are multiple lodging options to choose. If you would like to experience a true camping experience, pitch your own tent in the tent spaces. Every four-tent spaces share an electricity source. Then there are the cabins, 32 in total – 16 with A/C and bathroom, and 16 share public restrooms and showers throughout the campground. An easy way to make friends is to book a bed or room in one of the two bunkhouses that accommodate nine with three private bedrooms and a communal space with six beds in total and a separate kitchen area. There are also full RV hook up sites and a private residential area that is in high demand. “It’s definitely not boring, if you want to have a fun time you come up here,” said General Manager Justin Pamelin. “Just pick your own adventure.” And there are a lot of adventures to be had. The campsite mirrors that of a resort in regards to the many amenities that are at your fingertips. At the pool, you’ll find the restaurant Splash that serves all-American cuisine seven days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Splash has a BBQ on the weekends and also serves as the poolside full bar. Every Thursday – Sunday at 7:00 pm to 2:00 am the bar and nightclub, Woody’s, is open for business with go-go dancers, live DJ, drag performances and Karaoke/game shows. Blade, the billiard room, is open at the same time as Woody’s. Generally, every Thursday is strip pool. “Generally, every week is a party for us,” said Pamelin. The campsite is for adults 21 and older and is clothing-optional on specified days unless at the pool where it’s bare-it central. For a calming scenic view, feed the ducks at the campsite lake. Sawmill has just recently included two new dog parks on the campsite – the small dog park for dog’s 30lbs and under and the big dog park.

Pomerdale Delicatessen: The Bronx Comes To Lauderdale BY TIM
HART
Pomperdale Deli in Fort Lauderdale is now under new management. The delicatessen is located just west of the Intracostal on Commercial Blvd. (north side of the street). There is plenty of parking with free spaces as well as meter spots when the free spots are taken. According to their website, Pomperdale Deli is back to its former glory. Back in the original five Burroughs--yes, they are counting South Florida as the sixth--every neighborhood had its deli. One would never have to travel far to find an awesome pastrami on rye, homemade turkey, corned beef, or lox. But for most native New Yorkers, things took a big change during the migration south. What was once a five-minute walk, has become a 20-minute drive in the quest to find a taste of the homeland--and yes, they still do mean New York. The Pomperdale Deli is one local institution that has been serving

northern migrants eastern European fare for over 30 years. In May 2014, self-described "deli-guy" Larry Bruskin came in and took over, and has restored this deli to its former self with original recipes and some new ones of his own. At Pomperdale Deli, they recognize the need to continue the tradition of keeping the DELICATESSEN alive. From generation to generation, corned beef/pastrami sandwiches piled high on delicious rye bread coupled with a simmering bowl of matzah ball soup enjoyed by people from all hemispheres. The experience of dining in a deli like this is not only a haven for foodies, but a step back into time when people would gather, waiting in line, conversing with other patrons as though they were long lost friends. I have been frequenting this particular establishment on a semi-regular basis for over ten years. I have seen the transformatheguymag

tion from – pay on the way out – to proper food prep and storage areas!!! – to the now much overdue refurbished furnishings and interior. The old Pomperdale Deli was quaint in its own way – but it is now a long faded memory. Fair warning – the restaurant is (and always has been) very cramped. When it is crowed – IT IS CROWDED and you are close to all of your neighbors. There is no table service. You place your order – get your own drink – they call your name to get your food – you bus your own table when you are done. NO FRILLS. While they are open for breakfast, I do not get anything other than a Toasted Bagel with Butter ($2+) – yes it is pricey – but super convenient for me. I have had the egg dishes in the past and they were not good so I stopped that routine. Over the years, this place was PACKED all day starting at daybreak. Now it seems they have lost a bit of their AM following. I was in the other morning and there were only two other patrons (and they used to be super busy on and off season). Besides – 8 AM is far too late for me to have breakfast. When I go to Pomperdales, it is for the lunch offerings. Certain of the lunch offerings really satisfy my craving for quality deli food. I have a Rubin Sandwich on a plain (untoasted) bagel ($12.99). It has NEVER failed to satisfy. It’s got corned beef, sauershare with us on guymag.net
kraut, Swiss cheese with Russian dressing. It is usually large enough that I have some at lunchtime and the rest for dinner. A special treat is a bowl of Matzah Ball Soup ($5) – delicious. The Rachel isn’t bad either. This time, it’s hot pastrami, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut with Russian dressing. Like the Rubin, it’s also $12.99—as are all of Pomperdales speciality sandwiches. Ask for extra meat and your sandwich price goes up three dollars. Big hint: Avoid the French Dip at any price. The restaurant offers bags of chips as well that really compliments the meal. They have a Soup and ½ Sandwich for ($12) that is just about the right size for one big meal. Once again – it is pricey – but you get a really big sandwich. The menu is chock full of all the classic deli offerings. They also deliver and offer a very robust catering menu. Over the years, I’ve seen bags upon bags of orders for the high Jewish holidays. Pomperdales is a consistent, reliable choice for special occasion meals. I once had them cater an important business lunch years back and it was fabulous. You should give them a try.

oMR. HOLMES In Mr. Holmes (Miramax/Roadside Attractions), a period piece that reunites gay actor Ian McKellen and gay director Bill Condon for the first time since the Oscar-winning Gods and Monsters, McKellen takes on the role of an aged and declining Sherlock Holmes. In the film, based on Mitch Cullin’s novel, Holmes finally gets to solve the one mystery that drove him into retirement and, immediately thereafter, solves another mystery that saves his sanity, as well as the life of a young boy. The film begins with Holmes returning from Japan where he went to seek the cure for his failing memory in the form of an herb derived from the prickly ash. While there, he encounters another prickly situation, involving a Mr. Umezaki (Hiroyuki Sanada). Back in England, where he resides with housekeeper Mrs. Munro (Laura Linney) and her bright and inquisitive son Roger (Milo Parker), Holmes busies himself with

his prickly ash intake. He also works on writing a story in order to unravel a tangled mystery from several years previous, involving a client, Thomas (Patrick Kennedy), and the tragic circumstances of the death of his wife Ann (Hattie Morahan), an unresolved case that has Ian McKellenin Mr. Holmes (Courtesy of telegraph.co.uk) long plagued Holmes. Baffling situations abound, but one thing that is not a mystery is the way that Holmes and Roger take to each other. Roger, whose father was killed during the war, sees in Holmes a father figure who is more on his intellectual level than his mother. That relationship is at the center of the film and is both entertaining and touching. In the long run, Mr. Holmes is merely a trifle, a bit inconsequential, although it does conclude with the faintest whiff of a sequel. theguymag

oTIGER ORANGE Set in a rural California town, just north of Los Angeles, Tiger Orange (Wolfe), whose title comes from a paint color sold at the hardware store inherited by Chet (coscreenwriter Mark Strano) after his father died, utilizes flashbacks to illustrate the ways two brothers differed. Abandoned by their mother when they were small and raised by their raging father, Chet Frankie Valenti in Tiger Orange and Todd are as different (Courtesy of facebook.com) as brothers can be. Chet stayed behind after college to help his father with the store, while Todd (Frankie Valenti) got the hell out of town. Chet, who lives alone in the cabin where he took care of his father until his death, has his stable existence rocked by a pair of events. First, Brandon (Gregory Marcel), an old high school crush who has since come out as gay, returns to town to take care of his ailing mother. Second, tattooed and pierced brother Todd, who has basically been run out of L.A. following a series of unfavorable events, also returns to town, and wants to stay at the cabin with Chet. The set-up is rife with conflict. But what gives Tiger Orange its roar is the way that the astute and sensitive screenplay handles an array of situations, the way gay people are able to coexist peacefully with straight folks, as well as the portrayal of the complex sibling relationship that arises when both brothers are gay. Strano and Marcel are quite good, but it’s Valenti, who like fellow porn actor Sean Lockhart (aka Brent Corrigan), proves there’s more to him than what we’ve already seen of him under his gay porn moniker Johnny Hazzard. What make it all the more remarkable is that Gasque gets it all done in a little more than an hour and 15 minutes. Bravo! share with us on guymag.net
oGERONTOPHILIA Legendary indie queer filmmaker Bruce LaBruce takes his career to new and promising heights with Gerontophilia (Strand), a film displaying both a newfound maturity and accessibility. LaBruce hasn’t entirely abandoned his kinky side as much as he’s refined it. Lake (Pier-Gabriel Lajoie) and semi-girlfriend Desiree (Katie Boland) spend their gap year making out, going to rock clubs and discussing and naming revolutionaries and saints. Bookworm Desiree works in a bookstore where her creepy boss Mr. Guerrero (Brian D. Wright), described as a “Buscemi” by Lake, takes an interest in her. Lake works as a pool lifeguard, but after getting an erection while performing CPR on an elderly gentleman, finds himself out of a job. Lake’s mother, who loses her job as a club dancer after a brawl with another dancer, secures employment at an assisted living facility. While there, she is able to land a job for Lake. So begins Lake’s odyssey, innocently enough with him sketching some of the residents. Shortly thereafter he befriends gay resident Melvyn (Walter Borden) and soon the two are hanging out together, playing strip poker and drinking. When Lake, develops an attraction to Melvyn sees him being over-medicated (following an escape attempt) and mistreated by staff members, he comes up with a plan to rescue him and grant his wish to see the Pacific Ocean before he dies. The ensuing road trip has its highs and lows. LaBruce has hit the jackpot with Lajoie. Not only is he a pleasure to look at, he can also act up a storm. The cast, including Borden and Boland, do what they can to keep up with him. DVD includes original Pier-Gabriel Lajoie in Garontophilia theatrical trailer (Courtesy of model.com) theguymag

o you get bored doing the same old routine in the gym? Ever feel like you’re spinning your wheels and don’t seem to see any changes? Well, it’s not too late to set a fire under your workouts so that you can experience dynamic results beginning this summer. I have no magic pills, potions or routines to share, just a few basic concepts that are sure to liven up your time in the gym. If you’ve got a little spare time this summer, more flexibility in your schedule, why not try working out at different times of the day? The whole character and feel of the health club can change depending upon the time of day, different clientele, personnel and trainers available, etc. Especially if you’re feeling down, try working out in the morning to jump-start your day and your mood. There is nothing like a morning workout to bolster a sluggish metabolism! Just remember not to skip breakfast before your workout.

o
Try working out with another person.
Ideally, if you’ve got a few bucks, hire a personal trainer for some sessions in order to learn new routines and approaches to your fitness program. Make sure he/she is certified and experienced enough to help you make progress. Hint: Watch how the trainer interacts with his/her current clients (on time? friendly? engaging? focused on the client?) before you sign up for their services. A workout partner is also an asset provided he/she is dedicated, on time and shares the same goals with you.
o
Take some time out for reading and research.

their knowledge and expertise. Anything important to you deserves time, attention and a fresh new perspective now and again. So it is with working out. Research new routines, exercises, programs, supplements, etc. that can help you out of your rut and achieve the gains you desire.
o
Vary your routine.
Try supersets where you work two opposing muscle groups, (like chest and back, biceps and triceps, quadriceps and hamstrings). Try drop sets where you start with a heavyweight, work to failure, cut the weight in half and then go to failure again (a workout partner or trainer is recommended here). Interval training is great because it combines moderate weight training exercises interspersed with explosive blasts of cardio. Combine systems by using a variety of barbells, dumbbells, cables and machines. Take advantage of free classes at your club. There are so many ways to make your time in the gym challenging, fun and profitable! share with us on guymag.net
Take a vacation.
Yes, sometimes what you really need is a break from the gym. After a while, the clanking of the weights, the head-banging club music and the constant gossip and chatter can wear on your last nerve. If you have a tendency to go all out and over train, your muscles will welcome the break. Resting from training allows recuperation and causes the muscles to grow. Just remember to stay active during your break by walking, swimming, hiking, tennis or any other leisure activity. Becoming a couch potato or bar fly does not count as an active break from your training routine.
