Are You The Talk Of Orlando? T by Payton and Oleika
hanks to Flyer Promo Now we have been given the opportunity to write on a weekly basis The Talk of Orlando, so if you are a business, entertainer, an organization etc., send your information to TalkofOrlando@gmail.com and why you are the talk of Orlando. To start off the first issue, we will be interviewing TalkofOrlando.com a social website that caters to Orlando’s socially musically eclectic.
Ever ask yourself what’s poppin’ tonight in the O? And then, you’re sitting around with your friends contemplating on what to do, but by the time you have decided its 1:45 and clubs are closing. Now you can log into TalkofOrlando.com to get into the know. Payton: How did Talk of Orlando come about? E$CO: Orlando has a lot of hidden treasures that few know about, but we needed a name that was not only catchy but not gimmicky that would be the forefront of Orlando’s nightlife. TalkofOrlando.com was born.

Payton: With the economic down fall how has this affected your business?
Miss O..!!: Like any company we had to adjust our marketing strategies to entice our customers to come out. We all have been effected one way or another.
Payton: I hear that you have dropped 2 mixtapes, what inspired you to do this? And where do you see the mixtape going? Tony V: The 2 mixtapes have been huge. The inspiration came from us just simply being huge music lovers. Each volume showcases a specific DJ from all over the US not just in Orlando. Please believe me when I tell you, Volume 3 is going to be monumental for Orlando. Payton: Will you feature any local artists and if so what will local artists need to do in order to get on these mixtapes?
Glinns: We will definitely at some point showcase Orlando’s local artist in any genre, but like anything we take pride in what we put out there. Local artists just need to simply send us their highest quality tracks to TalkofOrlando@gmail.com. Please include a direct contact number, so we can keep in contact with you. Payton: There are so many sites like yours that never last, what makes TalkofOrlando.com so different? RitaRi: We strive in keeping our site updated with the latest events in Orlando; we have streaming radio so while people browse they are entertained. You can even IM us from the site. Any mixtape we drop you can download it from our site that is why the entire city of Orlando following us. Payton: Do you consider yourself a promotions company? E$CO: At first, but when we started getting inquires from promoters to work them & we started throwing our own events. We decided to expand our services to include street team promotions usage, photography, models, event planning, there is nothing that we can’t do or try. You have to be multitalented in order to succeed in this industry.
If you think that you are the Talk of Orlando, you can submit your information to talkoforlando@gmail.com subject line “I am the Talk of Orlando.” You can follow us on: twitter.com/talkoforlando, facebook.com/talkoforlando, & mypace.com/talkoforlandoflorida You can also check us out at the following events: Xclusive Wednesdays and Remix Fridays @ Element Nightclub & QUARANTINE @ Club VOYAGE www.flyerpromonow.com

Fire hair! Although a girdle or Spanks are well needed, this is a different and funky kind of look. She is not afraid to experiment with her hair. Hair is like canvases that reflect your inner style. It may be borderline gothic with the outfit and the piercing, but it grabs the eye, and overall is done very well.
T-shirt and my panties on? I have seen plenty of shirts that can be worn to a club as a dress, but this is not one of them. I can only imagine how it looks if you turn around. There is nothing classy about this at all. You might as well have worn a sign around your neck saying “Take me home, I’m a Hoe” (on the front), and “It’s a low cost, just get me another beer” (on the back)! Maybe Pinky should do a Charm School of Orlando.
Worst Dressed of the Week! Hey girl, we’re all gonna wear our plaid to the club. Ok? We’re just gonna switch it up a little. The worst thing you can do is dress alike in the club. You are a grown ass woman! Why the hell would you want to look like your friends? We are not in high school, so show some originality.
If you see someone with terrible fashion, or they just might need alittle Pinky advise, send a picture and comment to pinkyscorner@yahoo.com. You can also find me on Facebook! www.flyerpromonow.com

LEGEND KEY PARTY FAVORS LATE NIGHT GRUBBING ON POINT SERVICE FLY HUNNIES HANDSOME FELLAS FRESH SETTINGS HAPPY HOUR DOOR HOOK UPS DOPE SOUNDS
or the past couple of weeks, I have been traveling Fparties our night life streets informing you of different that are hot, and those that are not. This
week I decided to visit some really cool venues that offered something a little more different than your average club/bar. Remember that an entertaining experience can also be found outside the club. And you know, sometimes you want to step out, but you’re just not in the mood for the “night life” scene. Trust I fully understand…and this week, this one’s for you.
“Ladies Dinner Party” @ Senso I could not WAIT to share this one with you. We all remember the Zinc Bar, right? (Boy, those were the days!). Well, that piece of “history” has been completely revamped into a charismatic, little breath of fresh air called the Senso Supper Club. I absolutely love this spot! This venue not only features Miami like settings with classic art deco flair, but they present the most amazing ladies dinner party to ever hit Orlando. Every Tuesday night from 7pm10pm, Senso treats all ladies with reservations or invites to a complimentary (FREE) meal. Each week, their chef prepares specially created entrées specifically for weekly special occasion. Ladies, this is a great spot to grab your girlfriends and go have a ladies night out. Trust me when I say as soon as you walk in and sit down, you will feel like you stepped off Orange Avenue and crossed onto Ocean Drive. Beautiful ambiance, sexy people, delicious food…this experience gets Starlet’s stamp of approval!
“Wine Down Wednesday”
@ Urban Flats Downtown
Well if you haven’t heard about it, you must have seen the crowd at least once while driving down Orange Ave on a Wednesday. However, if you haven’t, then you must eventually come from under that rock. “Wine Down Wednesday” brings out the
young professional crowd, and has got to be the most successful Happy Hours to have hit downtown in a very long time. Here’s why it’s such a great time: $20 all you can drink wine and eat appetizers and flatbreads from 5pm-8pm. In addition, they have happy hour specials from 4pm-7pm. This is the place to be on a Wednesday after work before you take it home for the night. Ladies, the men are on point at this spot; fresh off from work looking all professionally sexy…ready to buy some drinks for some deserving lady. Fellas, the women come ready to mingle…again, professionally sexy , but ready to buy their own drinks if necessary. It’s a great place to network and socialize and meet new people. This event brings out so many guests that the crowd spills over into the courtyard in the middle of The Plaza. DJ BMF is the resident DJ for the night, and his loungelike musical presence stimulates the crowd and is complimentary for this socializing. Be sure to check this one out, and tell Brandi Nikole I sent you! You may get the hook up… You don’t always have to be in a night club to have a great experience. Orlando is full of beautiful venues and other entertaining elements that make up this wonderful city. Take the time to visit some of these new spots and tell me what you think about it. You have a place you recommend? Tell me about it at starletinthestreets@gmail.com. As for next week, well, it’s the first week of the month. So you know what that means…You can catch me at Dragon Room on July 7 for a special edition of “Upscale 1st Tuesdays”. Its Ace Hood’s Album Release Party, which means the celebs will be in the building. Trust you don’t want to miss that one. As for 1st Friday, I am going to check out what the buzz is all about at Studio Inc., located in Tampa. DJ Nasty hosts the party out there, and I received an email by a loyal 1st Friday guest recommending I go check it out. Off seeking the best experiences with you in mind… until then…LETS CELEBRATE! www.flyerpromonow.com

Ace Hood knows what it takes to grind and hustle his way to the top. He set the bar for going “Overtime”, and he made sure we were bout our “Cashflow”. His amped up lyrics waxed over 808 pumping beats like “Champion” captivates the audience and inspire each one of us to go hard at whatever we do. Ace Hood posses the hunger necessary for success, and not only does he share this through his music, he motivates others for that same hunger. While on his promotional tour for his sophomore album Ruthless, I got a chance to speak with Ace and learn more about this young artist who popped up from nowhere, and now bears We the Best Music Group proudly on his chest. Brandi Nikole (BN): With your new album Ruthless releasing on June 30, your schedule must be crazy. What’s a day in the life of Ace Hood like?
50
Ace Hood (AH): Well, I wake up in the morning, do a bunch of interviews. Then once I’m done with interviews, then you know, you always gotta do a little radio. Or maybe go talk to the kids throughout the hood, at a Boys & Girls Center, or something like that. Then we may go touch a record CD store, or something like that. After I’m through with that, pretty much go in the studio. Be in the studio pretty much all day. Leave the studio, get on the road to do a show. Or fly somewhere to do a show. Once I do the show, that’s pretty much it. Stay the night. Then we wake up, next city. BN: Ok. Sounds pretty busy…like a 20 hour day. That’s real overtime. With your 2nd album, Ruthless, coming out at the end of June, what could we expect to be different from your first, Gutta?
18
|
AH: With my first album, I was so happy to have a deal, and handle my situation as far as like, being a new artist, you know…and having a big time deal with a big time label. So I went extremely hard. Gutta was just me going all out; you know what I am saying. It was just me giving it to the people. So with this second album, I just wanted to put more concepts into my music, and just let people know more about Ace Hood. Let them know who I am as a person. Put a story line together; (explain) why I go as hard as I do, and what I’ve been through in my life, and the things that I do. That’s why I made the album Ruthless, because I’ve been through a lot of situations, and I’m just ruthless bout trying to get to the top. So with this second album, I just want to show more growth, more personality, to the people. Let them know who Ace Hood is. BN: So some can say your singles like “Cashflow, “Overtime”, and “Champion” appear to motivate & become daily anthems for your audience. Was that your goal when creating this singles? AH: Yea, they are motivational records. “Overtime” and “Champion” is my life, because I feel like due to the state of the economy, as far as the recession, I feel like you got to go overtime in order to grind, in order to get money, in order to provide. At the end of the day, I feel like I want to be a role model to the youth nowadays; someone to look up to. So, I felt like those were the perfect records. “Overtime” was definitely my life, and basically still is my life. We living overtime, we don’t sleep. We’ve been on the road for about 1 1/2 , 2 months. We just been going hard. Gotta go overtime to be that champion.
AH: I learned you gotta go hard. Sale yourself to the people. Gotta make sure you are always marketable. Make people buy into you as an artist. That’s the main thing I learned. You just gotta market yourself. You’re a product to the people. You gotta sell it. At the end of the day, make people want to buy into who you are. Make people love you for who you are. And we did it, and we still doing it. BN: Would you say the title of both your albums depicts your character & personality?
BN: If you could tell your fans why you do this music for them, what would you say? AH: I just feel that at the end of the day, the people need a voice. I felt like when I was an unsigned artist, there was a lot of music that I didn’t like, a lot of music I wasn’t so sure on. So I felt like if I ever had the chance to get into the game, I would always like to speak for the people. I just speak for the people because at the end of the day, they need a young voice. They need that young dude; the future. They need to know what’s next in hip hop. I grew up listening to Jeezy, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, and the stuff like that. You know what I mean. We need to know who’s the next thing still doing it for the streets. I speak for the people because I feel it’s necessary. I feel like there’s a lot going on in the hood, there’s a lot community centers getting taken out; a lot of Boys & Girls clubs in different cities www.flyerpromonow.com
ACE HOOD CASE FILE NO. 634814
BN: Oh yes…definitely know that. So, what have you learned about yourself and the industry since your first debut?
AH: Definitely. Gutta was representing where I came from. I just felt like my city was the gutta. Straight grimy, (but) a city that just goes hard. Every time you come to our city, we just gonna go hard. But with this (album) Ruthless, I just showed my mother as my inspiration. I felt like she had a ruthless mentality, just cause she had to provide for my siblings. She had a ruthless grind, you know what I mean? She was like, I am going to work these 2, 3 jobs in order to provide for me and my five siblings. So, that’s just how I feel. My ruthless mind frame is what’s going to get me to the top. Either they with us or they’re not. If not, we’re stepping on them. You understand me? That Ace Hood camp with that We the Best Music Group camp, we can’t lose and we will not lose, you understand?

getting taken out. So they need to know who they can look up to; who’s representing them. “Overtime” is definitely a record representing them. There’s a lot of jitterbugs graduating and stuff like that, and they need that hope, you know. Us shooting the video of “Champion”, we definitely portrayed the youth. BN: That’s funny you call them jitterbugs and you’re only like 21 yourself. AH: Yea, you know I’m young. I did just turn 21. And the great thing about my situation is that I can’t do nothing but grow on my second album. I’m still learning, I’m still a young dude, you know what I mean. BN: How did you get signed to We the Best Music Group? AH: I built a buzz in my city; built a buzz with my record with my local label Dollarz & Dealz with a song called “MOE (Money Over Everything)”. We just built a buzz, you know what I mean. Then we took it to Khaled at the radio station; we were at the right place at the right time. I felt like God meant for me to have that situation with Khaled. It pretty much worked out. I wasn’t even looking for a deal, but it ended up being something bigger than that. Khaled heard the record, he ended up calling me back and was like “Yo, I want to hear you on bigger records. You can be kicking it with the big dogs”. (He) put me on “I’m So Hood”. A couple of weeks later, we are talking to We the Best Music Group. About a month later I’m in Def Jam’s L.A. Reid’s office, proving myself to the whole Def Jam staff. Then once I proved myself to him, he gave me my big distribution deal, and we been rocking the game ever since. BN: Yea, well you definitely have been rocking something. Who did you grow up rocking to & how did they inspire you? AH: I grew up listening to Trick Daddy, Wayne, and stuff like that. Just coming up in the streets, and seeing what I had seen, they inspired me to do the music thing. That was around the time I was younger, and you know I seen the jewelry and all that, and I was like “you know, I want to be a part of that”. Being that I had a young mind when I was younger, I wanted to be on the videos, and have this and have that other stuff. I was into the Pac, Biggie, Big L. I just wanted to find my way in hip hop. BN: Any future projects in the works? AH: I’m looking into clothing and stuff like that. Looking to just build the Ace Hood brand; building myself into a mold, something bigger, you know what I mean? BN: Ok, so since your first album Gutta dropped, what has been a highlighting moment in your career?
AH: One of my most favorite moments was the Summer Jam concerts. Just being a part of it, and performing on something that big. BN: Any songs for the ladies on Ruthless? AH: Definitely do. My third single features Jeremiah. It’s crazy, it’s a big record. I got a record featuring Lloyd, I also got The Dream on the album. So we definitely got a lot of records dedicated to the woman, you know what I mean, that’s going to be big. BN: All those names are surely the ladies favorites. So tell me who would you like to work with in the future, considering you have already worked with some pretty big names? AH: I would definitely like to do something with Robin Thicke. I actually would love to do something with Jay Z, or even Beyonce. Just with people who make good music. Alicia Keyes, Keyshia Cole if possible, you feel me? BN: Yes, those are some good music making names. What’s your favorite track on the album? Why? AH: My favorite track would have to be “Take a Toll” just cause I feel like what we do is no longer music; it’s a celebration. It’s just me paying homage, me giving my thanks for my accomplishments and the things I have been through and where I have come from. So, I’m paying homage to the old G’s, and the young G’s, and those who have passed away. You know, so before I take this last sip, I just want to take a toast to me-this history in the making. BN: Where do you see Ace Hood in 5 years? AH: I see myself as a young mogul; a young entrepreneur, you know what I mean. Branching out to something bigger than this music, you understand. I see myself as being one of the biggest cats in the game. I definitely see myself as being the dude that people pay to be a headliner. I see myself as being real rich and being real fortunate, and you know, have my label Dollarz & Dealz and opening up other branches of it; just building my own label and doing it real big, you heard me? BN: Well that’s fantastic. So who’s on your playlist on your i-pod? AH: Right now, I got that Ace Hood in the player…that “Deeper Than Rap” (Rick Ross)… that Jeezy, you know. BN: Well , I know you on the road out promoting for your new album. Thank you for you time and we’ll see you at your Ruthless album release party on July 7 at the Dragon Room for Upscale 1st Tuesday. AH: Oh most definitely. We’ll see you there! Go cop that album July 7…Ruthless. www.flyerpromonow.com

COOLER TALK A
by Jarvis Grace
little over 2 weeks removed from the NBA Championship game and we have already seen a facelift to many teams throughout the NBA, one of the largest right here at home. Heading into a relatively weak NBA draft there were many teams eager to make moves to solidify their goals of chasing next years NBA Championship.
as he will have a promising future in the NBA but I don’t see how we could pass up the opportunity to bring Vince Carter home as he grew up just outside of Orlando. The focal point of the next few weeks will be to sign Hedo Turkoglu, and by completing this transaction we will almost assure ourselves a championship.
After Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers were ousted from the Championship race by the Orlando Magic during the Eastern Conference Finals they figured it was time to upgrade their front court. And what better way to upgrade than trade for 4 time NBA championship winner Shaq Diesel to compliment future hall of famer Lebron James. Whether or not this was a good move will be debated by people everywhere ranging from barbershop talk to ESPN analasysts from now until the end of the season next year, but only the future will tell if Shaq can help Lebron achieve a championship or if he is just too old to compete with the youth of the league.
MEMO TO HEDO: Forget the 10 mil man, LET’S GET A RING!!!
A big change was also made right here at home when our Eastern Conference Champion Orlando Magic completed a deal to bring in All-Star Vince Carter. As rumors swirled and with the Nets trying to free up cap room for 2010-2011 free agency where there will be a number of high value free agents including Lebron James (let’s not forget Jay-Z is part owner of the Nets) the wires were open for a trade which brings Vince Carter home to Orlando and ships away Alston, Lee, and Battie. It was a great trade for the Magic as I hate to see Courtney Lee go
Keeping Hedo Turkoglu would allow us to use Vince Carter at the Shooting Guard and to bring Pietrus off of the bench which would cause major problems for other teams to match up against. All of these changes have gotten my anticipations high for next season as they should yours. So if you haven’t gotten your season tickets for next season yet I would definitely suggest trying to make that move soon, as I believe there are still a few left. To all of you’ll new found Laker fans that were Celtic fans last year and whoever fans the year before that... enjoy your off season. We got Next! Go Magic!

ike many others, I must mention the late, great ‘King of Pop’ Michael Jackson... And to that, I along with the rest of the Flyer Promo Now staff, say rest in peace, you will truly be missed. His father appeared at the BET Awards and stated, “Until such time, however, we have the personal and legal authority to act, and solely Katherine and I have authority for our son and his children. We wish to handle his memory and legacy with dignity. The attorney for the Jacksons is L. Londell McMillan and no one has the authority to speak on behalf of the Jackson family at this time.” Our hearts go out to his family and friends during this time; may you all be blessed. I promised myself I was not going to make any further comments about Chris Brown or Rihanna, but allegedly Mr. Brown was unable to perform at the BET Awards because a certain couple threatened to not perform, if he opened the show. Who knew Jay-Z and Beyonce had so much pull? That’s what I call a power move. Speaking of power moves, Bernard Madoff, the billion dollar scam artist who master-mined stealing millions and billions in a ponzi scheme finally got his sentenced to 150 years. On lookers crowded the Manhattan, New York courtroom after U.S. District Judge Denny Chin issued the maximum sentence to the 71-year-old defendant. Madoff has stated he lives “in a tormented state now, knowing all the pain and suffering I’ve created.” 71 years + 150 years, wonder how he’ll be able to move those numbers. Hip Hop/ Rockstar Lil Wayne was seen cruising around South Beach in Miami, Florida during the Black Film Festival in his Bugatti. Other noted, actors and actresses were on hand to pitch and promote the screenings of several Black films along with film producers and directors, like Robert Townsend. Keep your eyes on the big screen to see if Wayne makes any guest appearances for these upcoming films.

A weekly Entertainment, Legal News & Advice column from Shannon A. Ligon, The Entertainment & Legal Diva And on to some much needed advice... Dear Shannon, I am 17 y/o and headed for college. My parents are not allowing me to take the car which I feel is unfair because I have been a responsible driver at home. I feel they should at least let me have the car since I am living on campus and college is located only 2 hours away. If I want to come home it would be easier if I had the car at college and they wouldn’t have to drive me back and forth if I wanted to come home !!!! Sincerely, Off to College with no ride Dear Off to College, I feel your pain on being car less, but having a car when you first get to college is a huge responsibility and liability. Not only will you be away from home, you will be around new people and new surroundings. How many people asked you for a ride in high school? Think of how many people will do the same in college; but now they are asking for rides to a party, to the club, to Daytona for Spring Break, and the list continues. I remember tracking off to Florida State with no car and catching rides home with friends, which helped build memories and bonds during those road trips. Why don’t you see how managing without a car works for a short while and then revisit the situation with your parents. Maybe their decision will change because of your continued responsibility and good grades while in college. Best of luck in school, Shannon
