Simply and Chic! Best dressed of the week! Well put together. Not too much, but just enough. Hair and make-up perfect, accessories right on point. A wife beater can compliment any bottom piece with the right accessories. Her long necklace stands out, and the black on makes it rich and classic. Anything else would have been too much. White shorts and the silver top is a great summer look. She looks fun, free, and flirty. Most importantly they have a drink ;) Great job girls!

Straight Disater Sorry but this is definitely the worst dress of the week. Dress is way too tight, and I would not suggest putting a vest (which is also too tight) over a form fitting dress. WoW! If you see someone in a major fashion violation or someone who looks like the are red carpet ready, send pictures and comments to pinkyscorner@ yahoo.com or find Pinky’s Corner on FaceBook! h dear Summer, how I love when you come into town. With your long days, hot nights, and temptress flare, we tend to seek more adventure during this season. We are ready to dress skimpier, dance harder, and stay up even later. This past week, trust I did all that…probably even harder than I did the week before. What? You missed the party? Well…

I had mention previously that the I Love Wednesday event was rudely terminated at Roll Bar when they surprisingly closed their doors for business. But that definitely did not stop Ricky Padilla from finding another venue to host this event he had worked so hard on promoting. He has found a perfect match with Room 23 & Backroom, both located downtown. Now you have two (2) rooms to party on a Wednesday night. Not only is this opportunistic to introduce his crowd to these venues (which most of them surely had never stepped foot in before), but this also gives him the chance to expose his brand amongst a loyal Room 23 crowd that had never even heard of “Mr. 6-10” before (yes, believe it…to my surprise as well…many people don’t listen to 102JAMZ). Bo Hagen & Deshawn Stevenson came out and held down one spacious VIP section. The first run was last week on Wednesday, and the front room (Room 23) was packed with DJ Chino spinning on the 1’s & 2’s. Backroom had Voice of the Streets (VOS) on the turntables, but was kind of thin in the crowd. I trust that is because not many people know about the second room. My suggestion? Chino, shout out VOS in the Backroom. Ricky, push the word they are back there. However, I wouldn’t really worry about the success of this event…Ricky Padilla, VOS, DJ Chino, and DJ Nasty…now that’s a recipe for PARTY!
PEARL @ Northbridge Apartments You know the summer is official when the pool parties start kicking in. The most anticipated pool party of the year, Pearl, premiered last Sunday May 31. This event is hosted by Garrett Lauer and Juan Archila and benefits the Torch Relay Foundation (subsidiary of the Children’s Miracle Network). As we remember from last year, you pay one flat fee and receive unlimited drinks. In addition to the various DJs they bring from all over, there is “circus” like entertainment between stilt walkers, contortionists, and other performers dressed in body paint. This pool party has been named the Best Pool Party in Orlando, but they just may have their competition this year with one of their promoters from last year’s Pearl starting up his own pool party in the MetroWest area. Regardless, there is enough summer to go around! So let’s splish splash! This upcoming week brings favorite parties and birthday celebrations. On June 18, Ricky Padilla & Jay Leon will bring their highly favored Y.E.S. party to 310 Lakeside (downtown). This event introduced you to the whole “young” “elite” & “sophisticated” scene of partying. It forces you to dress up and make your statement amongst other fellow “YESers”. I suggest you prepare with a new outfit, fresh hair & nails. Also, on June 19 at Roxy, Ozone Magazine is throwing its CEO, Julia Beverly, a birthday celebration. This event is just one stop on her multiple city “birthday tour”, which starts on June 5 in Anchorage, Alaska (can you believe Ozone made it all the way up there? GO ORLANDO!). The celebrity guest host has yet to be determined, but this event should go well with the already established All Pro event that takes place at Roxy every Sunday. Go out, support your girl JB! Until then, hit me up with any questions or invites out to your event at starletinthestreets@gmail. com. See you in the streets!

North American broadcast coverage of the Finals will be produced by ESPN and televised by ABC in the United States and TSN in Canada. The Los Angeles Lakers return to the Finals for the 30th time in franchise history, an NBA record, and for the second consecutive year, marking the first time that the previous year’s runner-up has returned to the NBA Finals since the New Jersey Nets in 2002 and 2003. It is also the sixth appearance in the Finals in the 2000s decade for the Lakers (2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2008), the most of any NBA team in the era. The Orlando Magic are in the Finals for the first time since their Finals debut in 1995, when they were swept by the Houston Rockets. The Lakers were the favorite to emerge from the Western Conference, but their road to the Finals was a tough one. They played 3 physical series versus the Utah Jazz, Houston Rockets, and Denver Nuggets, winning in 5, 7, and 6 games, respectively. The Magic were overlooked by many to even reach the Eastern Conference Finals, as they played in the shadows of #1-seed Cleveland Cavaliers, led by regular season MVP LeBron James, and defending champion #2-seed Boston Celtics. However, after dispatching the Philadelphia 76ers in six games, the Magic stunned the defending champion Celtics by winning Game 7 in Boston,

who were previously 32-0 when leading a series 3-2, and 17-3 previously in Game 7’s at home. However, the Magic were favored to win that series as the Celtics played without Kevin Garnett. In the next round, Orlando was given no chance by many to defeat the top-seeded Cleveland Cavaliers, but a combination of three-point shooting and the inside presence of Dwight Howard created a matchup nightmare for Cleveland on defense, and Orlando ultimately won in six games. In Game 6 Dwight Howard had 40 points and 14 rebounds. The Los Angeles Lakers hold home-court advantage due to their better season record. Games 1, 2, and if necessary, 6 and 7 will be held at Staples Center in Los Angeles on June 4, 7, 16, and 18, respectively. Games 3, 4, and if necessary, 5, will be held at Amway Arena in Orlando on June 9, 11, and 14 respectively. The Magic won both regular season matchups with the Lakers in close contests. However, pivotal player Jameer Nelson has since been injured and his status is questionable for the Finals. Due to the proximity of both cities to each of their respective Disney theme parks (Disneyland for Los Angeles and Walt Disney World for Orlando), and of the Finals being telecast on Disney’s broadcasting company ABC, this series has been dubbed as the “Mickey Mouse Series.” From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

o you believe in Magic? I do! As an official die hard Magic fan I would like to tell all of ya’ll fair weather fans out there don’t jump on the bandwagon now, We don’t want you! Against all odds with our backs against the wall and the whole world against us, we stood like men! Throughout the season the Magic have dealt with a lot of adversity from the devastating injury to our all-star point guard, Jameer Nelson, to the whole world of doubters who are now all WITNESSES. It has been a long time coming (13 years to be exact) but now change has come and we have the chance to fulfill this memorable season by breaking the curse of letting Shaquille O’neal walk out of our grasps after he lead us to our first NBA Finals. This current run at the title is highlighted by our promising young center Dwight Howard who looks to love this city and will be leading us to this championship and many more to come. “I tell my friends this: I want to stay here. It will be based upon the city. We want the support of our fans. That’s what carries us, that’s what inspires us, that’s what keeps us motivated”, said Howard according to the Or-

lando Sentinel. Surrounding Dwight Howard is a young nucleus of talent who will keep the Magic competitive and at the end of the day we will claim our city’s FIRST major sports championship!
Howard also told the Orlando Sentinel, “I’ve always wanted to see Orlando on top because we’ve always been overlooked -- not just as a basketball franchise -- but as a city. I do a lot for the community, especially in the AfricanAmerican community, because of what goes on. I try to do my best. One thing I said [before being drafted in 2004], whatever city I go to, I’d always try to do my best to change it. “So I love this place. I want to stay here.” This is our chance to solidify ourselves as a major city. So Orlando STAND UP and let the whole world know how we get down! by Jarvis Grace
