Dear Readers, As you’ll well know summertime is OFFICIALLY here and judging from the temperatures outside it’s going to be a really HOT Summer! If you don’t want to carry a purse put it in your home girls purse. You really just look like your home girl called you last minute, and was like “hey girl, I know you just went jogging, but lets go to the club real quick”. Take your time, and make yourself look good before you go out. You look thrown together and thrown out the door.

Omeez
is a Miami born rapper/ producer that has been making noise in Florida since 2005. He was a member of “The Legacy”, which also includes Shawty Raw and Degree. They eventually started getting radio play on numerous underground stations and clubs throughout Florida after releasing their first hit song “Like This”. He eventually stepped out on his solo venture and released the first volume of his mixtapes entitled “Prostitutin” in the 1st quarter of 2008. This marked the beginning of his success as a solo artist. Omeez is now moving with his new single titled “Connected”, which is now getting heavy buzz in the streets. It has been getting play in the clubs, on radio, and also has been featured on numerous mixtapes. He also has been producing tracks for other artists and working on following singles for your listening pleasure.
, Avacia Williams, was born Lady V Aug 1,1988 in Orlando, Florida! At the age of Nine, Lady V learned
that she was really talented by playing the keyboard and using pens to beat on tables. She was a up and coming music producer! Age twelve arrives and young rappers such as Bow Wow, Romeo, Lil’ Wayne, and last but not least, Pimp D (Local Artist) influenced her to become a rap artist. Lady V knew that it could be a chance for her to become some one “BIG” in the music industry! “I Don’t only rap, I also sing, produce music, dance and engineer.” Further on, she kept on pursuing her dream even though she had up’s and down’s with individual’s selling me dreams. “My influences are 1st God, Lil’Wayne, T-Pain, Da Brat and Timbaland. logger Perez Hilton is having it out with Will.I.am and members of the Black Eyed Peas. Perez alleged that he was assaulted by the band’s producer after a confrontation in Toronto during an after party. While Perez did have a visible cut under his eye, Will.I.am insists that he had nothing to do with the incident. I wonder how long before a lawsuit is filed? Chris Brown and Rihanna appeared in Court earlier this week, where Mr. Brown took a plea deal in exchange for 5 years of probation and 180 days of community service. Ouch! Brown was also ordered to stay 10 feet away from the singer if they both appear at the same event. His formal sentencing will take place August 5 in Los Angeles, CA. Florida rapper Plies must not be feeling the effects of our nation’s recession as he throws out $50,000 to a crowd in Atlanta while attending radio station HOT 107’s Birthday Bash. NFL player Donte Stallworth of the Cleveland Brown’s was sentenced to 30 days in jail for his DUI death case and reached an undisclosed civil settlement with the victim’s family. Let’s hope all goes well for Stallworth while he takes his lil’ legal vacation. Fellow NFL player, Plaxico Burress has legal woes of his own too. His felony case has been postponed until September 23. This delay could cause some pitfalls for teams interested in signing him with these charges looming in the future. I wonder how Giant receivers will offset his loss if he doesn’t come back?

Dear Shannon, I started a new job as an executive assistant about three months ago and love my job but am having problems with my boss. He often asks me to stay late to work on proposals, which is fine, but lately he started making advances towards me; inviting me out for drinks and even a trip to the Bahamas. Problem is he’s married! I can’t afford to lose my job, but I know this is inappropriate. How should I handle this? Sincerely, Working in the Lion’s Den Dear Working, While quitting your job may seem like a quick fix to a rather common situation many women face in the workplace, you’re going to have to muster up some confidence to better handle this situation. Try deflecting the problem, then provide a solution and hopefully he’ll get the hint. Tell him I thank you for the offer to go to dinner, the Bahamas, etc., but I prefer to keep my work and private life separate so I may focus on my job and that you would be more than willing to arrange a date for him AND his wife! If that doesn’t work, contact your HR department if you think this has become a sexual harassment issue. And if that doesn’t work, just tell the jerk you love your job, but you and your ex-con boyfriend do not appreciate his advances and if he doesn’t stop you may have to seek a higher authority like his boss, the police and/or an attorney to help make the decision for him. y city of the beautiful-the heat is on and the M parties are firing up. I am finding myself pulling straws over which event to attend. Though the summer is for relaxation and vacation, it is also the time to catch up with your friends you had to place on hold during the cold months while you got your grind on. Yet, no matter the season, you know Starlet is ready to celebrate!
“Re-Grand Opening” w/ Biz Markie @ Voyage Yes, Voyage is back open. The rumors of closing down were all false and heavily disputed by the owner Hurley. Instead, they decided to revamp and remodel and I can’t say I agree with it. Though this spot is small and most say “cave-like”, the murals they painted over were beautiful, and I wouldn’t have suggested painting over them in that “clinic” white paint they chose. Nevertheless, on Friday June 19, with Eye Candy Promotions, they had their “Re-Grand Opening”. Eye Candy Promotions brought out the infamous Biz Markie to spin on the 1s and 2s, but I can’t say Orlando really cared nor noticed his presence. If you didn’t know what he looked like, you wouldn’t even have known he was there. He didn’t hype the crowd, he gave no shout outs, he was totally boring. The crowd didn’t really look like they meant to show up at this party; they looked lost and confused…and quickly trickled out after they finally got a grasp of what was going on. I am not sure what Eye Candy Promotions was thinking when they decided to bring Biz Markie to Orlando, but from the word on the streets, they plan to bring out even bigger Ole Skool names to town like Naughty-by-Nature and such. I say “Where did these guys come from?” and “Did they do their market research?”
Sundays @ Bliss We all remember last year Sunday nights at Bliss. Everyone who made it through the pool parties

(and you were a trooper if you did) during the day would come out trying to party for just a little bit longer during the night. We would be sun kissed, and already tipsy, but still feel the need for more. Yep. Sunday nights at Bliss have started up again, and this time around, Ricky Padilla has teamed up with the undisputed Pat Nix. This dynamic duo may be able to take the Sunday nights at Bliss to the next level over last year’s turn out. I mean, you can’t blame the people for not coming out…it’s hard to drink all you can during the day in the sun then be prepared enough (and sober) to make it out to the club that same night. Though the past two weeks have not been so great in attendance, I trust once the word gets out and promos really start, Bliss is where you will be sure to show your face on a Sunday summer night. And you can trust I will re-review it after a couple of weeks! SAD NEWS: The “Y.E.S. Party” was cancelled due to uncontrollable situations. Not sure if a new date has been set, but will inform you as soon as I know something. This week I will be kicking off my Independence week at the new venue that just opened up on Pine St. called Club 57 West for the “Orlando Live”, presented by DJ Chino and hosted by Nasty Beatmakers on July 2. A little birdie told me I could catch the entire Nasty Beatmakers family out there for a live performance; that would be history in the making! Also, I’ll be at the “Boss Affair” for the 4th of July celebration, which is to be held up at the Global Gallery downtown.
