Preaching the
Good Word
By: Nick Grace reacher, is a well known artist from our very own Orlando, Fl who has been making noise for years in the U.S. and across Europe. He began is career with Double "P" Music which was on the label Lucky Song/ Sony in Germany. He was there for 3 years as a group named Double "P" he toured all of Europe performing in front of an estimated 70,000 fans. Now, Preacher is making a big impact in the states with his solo career under the label Double "P" Music" We In the Zone Management. He has several songs with the hottest artist of today like Rick Ross, Jacki O, Shyheim from Wutang, Scola from the group Dru Hill, J Rush Life Jennings brother, and many more. His last single called "Paper Chaser" dĂŠbuted on 24 stations across the states. Now his hot new blazing single called "Swaggin In Swaggin Out" is vibing through the clubs. His last performance was this past Monday, August 3rd at Tabu Nightclub where he had the crowd swagged out and begging for more. I was able to catch up with Preacher after the concert with Webbie to express his influences and what he has in store for the future.
P
Nick Grace (NG): Preacher, what's good with you homie? Preacher: Right now in the streets hustling, grinding, and making my name a commodity branding preacher. NG: How long have you been in the rap game? Preacher: I've been in the rap game 2010 will make ten years. I appreciate the rap game following the success I am seeing from all the hard work throughout the years. NG: What are some of your major influences in and out of the industry?
2
| www.flyerpromonow.com
Preacher: Some of my major influences would include my family. The chain of my family has been from thugs and drug dealers. My main focus is to really try and break that chain and bring family values to the table. NG: How do you believe your career was shaped differently coming from rapping overseas back to the U.S.? Preacher: Overseas, the people appreciate the art of music more they really drive you to be the best artist you are capable of being. Furthermore, there is much more love than envy better known as "hate". NG: What made you pursue a solo career and where are the members from your former group? Preacher: I've become a solo artist because I felt I was hungrier than the other artist. He now resides in Cali. NG: Who are some other artists on your label that might be making a name for themselves in the near future? Preacher: My son whose name is "solo" he is featured on my new single "Swaggin in Swaggin Out". I refer to him as my secret weapon. NG: How did your features come about? Preacher: When I got Ross on a track he was doing a show in Gainesville where I was opening up for him. Basically, I was hungry and was pushing through security to get to Ross so I can express my ideas to him. Security, was persistent and didn't want to let me through. However, Ross
looked up and saw me and told security to let me through. As a result, I just talked to him like a man and told him my plan and ideas. Ross liked the idea and told his management to give me the number. The rest is pretty much history. NG: What do you have in store for your fans in the future? Preacher: I just want to entertain them I want to be like Michael Jackson was to pop culture. Currently, the first pre-album was titled "The Other Side of Preach". Next, I dropped another pre-album which was titled "I'm A Monster". I have two mixtapes about to be flooding the streets called "I'm So Florida" and "Crack". Last, I'm going to release my album which will be titled "50/50". I'm not going to go in depth about the album. However, when you hear the album you will have a better understanding behind the meaning "50/50". NG: Are u planning a tour or some type of appearance to promote your music? Preacher: I have a show on September 5th, in Eustis, FL at Cruzzers. I will be doing traveling through all the cities of Florida on my own tour.
NG: Who has really helped you stay focused on your music and keep your eye on the prize? Preacher: I have several people including my management Billy Wizz from We In The Zone Entertainment, Melissa from Double "P" Music, Fire and Ice my choreographers, my kids, and of course last but not least God. NG: Do you have any tips or can you offer some advice to up and coming local artists or teens who like to pursue the music industry as a career? Preacher: Don't give up!! It necessarily doesn't have to be music it can be a number of different career opportunities ranging from producing, engineering, etc. No matter what it is don't give up and learn the business, research it so you can perform at the best of your ability. NG: How has the community/city embraced your music? Preacher: It was a slow pace at first but I realized I had to earn the respect keep grinding and don't stop to show the community I was hungry for it. So many people have come up to me and told me that Orlando is slow and that we need to catch up. Believe it we are caught up now but everybody realizes that people come to our city and eat. But, not the people of the city are eating. I am Orlando's own... Preacher!!! NG: Do you have any other comments you will like to share with your fans and the readers? Preacher: I want to say thanks to my city for supporting me Disco and the City Boys, Camp Prostyle, 102 Jamz, 95.3, and FlyerPromoNow. It's a movement everybody been eating except for Orlando. I would like to thank all the DJ's including Dj Greg G, Dj Element, DJ Mindbender, DJ Babylac it's so many DJ's who I can name that will fill up your whole page. I appreciate the support from all the home based Dj's I have so much love for all of them. I put on for this bitch!!! NG: How can you be contacted outside of your shows? Preacher: I can be contacted on myspace.com/ preacherandp, twitter.com/preacherandp, by e-mail preacherandp@aol.com, youtube. com/preacherandp, also for booking purposes at (407)-701-3010 or (678)-789-7596.

pass out the most flyers. Mercedes Streets and other local Orlando promoters are in a competition over paper passing. Isn’t that funny? FRANKLY, I am sick of finding a book of flyers on my windshield every time I want to go out. ARE YOU PEOPLE TOO CHEAP FOR COMMERCIALS? There are other ways to promote, you know. Let’s speak of the DJs that talk trash on Twitter and MySpace, who have never promoted ANYTHING but running their mouth at the club. You are nothing but a bunch of internet gangsters. PLEASE, TAKE A BREAK MY FRIENDS. You wouldn’t kill a fly if it landed on your head. LMAO…
Next topic.
Yuk Mouth’s Story Many of you may not know me, but I go by the name of Yuk Mouth. Some of the statements that I make may hurt people’s feelings. Personally, I don’t care if I offend you or make you happy. I am simply here to tell you all what goes on, on the streets. Well, let’s not waste any time. Let’s get right into it. There are too many new promoters coming into the game, and they don’t have a clue on how to coordinate a decent event. Okay check this; when a promoter comes in the game, tries to bring an artist and don’t talk to the vets, it makes the ARTIST look bad. Now that artist has been to the city (THE WRONG LOOK) But at the same time the veterans must keep it REAL!
Not to nock these DJ’s, but I feel if you're going to ask for all your pay for the club, at least be able to pull some people to the club so the club owner can feel good about paying you! Oh yeah, I was at the Strickly Skill barbershop, and you know what I heard, somebody gave All Pro a call out in the ring, and I found that pretty amusing. Awwww, man. I have so much to talk about, that I will need more pages. FYI: I am not trying to just bash all of the new promoters. I give them their props for trying. We must all start from somewhere. Some advice for you rookies: go to some of the veterans for help before you lose all of your money in this recession. Until next time, stop thinking about who I could be because I am… Yuk Mouth, and I may bite you! Lol! If you would like to holla at me e-mail me at yukkiboy09@gmail.com or follow twitter/Yukkiboy09.
Okay, moving along. We had Yellow Jacket promotions (some more rookies) that attempted to promote Movado. They had every bit of 175 people show up (if that many). Their show had a grand opening and a grand closing. Did these guys know what they were doing?? Here’s one for you: There are two street promoters fighting over who can

hat up my fellow street crawlers! The summer is half way over, but the fun times have just begun! The race for the hottest party of the summer is in full effect. This season has witnessed new parties starting up, new venues opening up, and new promoters trying hard to rumble with the best of them. Will these “newbies” stand the test of time? Only the streets can tell. So here I run through them to introduce these new elements to you, my fellow party people. RAIN ULTRA LOUNGE: A couple of issues back, I spoke on the “VIP Unveiling” party which I was invited to at RAIN. Finally, it’s now open to the public and ready to introduce us to a whole new nightlife. Who would have thought such an amazing looking venue could ever hit Orlando? This place has every promoter groveling to have their event there. This place has everyone reconfiguring their wardrobe. This place has all other venues scrounging for business. This place is amazing, and just what Orlando needs. They have a free guest list till 12am. The dress code is definitely enforced, but not over done. Think Blue Martini meets Tavern when it comes to attire. Every Saturday night, you will find the sexiest, well dressed people of Orlando basking in this unfamiliar, yet spectacular ambiance. Last Saturday, I saw so many fresh faces on the scene, and many faces that have been in hiding. RAIN is NOT your traditional night club. The atmosphere alone makes the crowd more chic, more sophisticated. DJ M-Squared is the perfect match for this venue with his eclectic style. I was speaking to one of the “RainMakers” (in-house promoters/publicists), and she had mentioned RAIN will be introducing a team of Video DJs (VJs) within the next couple of weeks. She explained to me that this is where the music videos are played in sync with the scratching and transitioning of songs played by the DJ. This VJ phenomenon is in high demand in nightclubs located in Vegas, LA, & Miami. Though the buzz is
still fresh about this spot, Marquis Daniels knows all about it, and was sure to bring through his entourage during the Grand Opening party (which did over 1100 people!). Other faces on the scene that evening were DJ D Strong, Eddie B (Cleos), and Chris Turner (Hollywood East). Be sure to come check this place out this Saturday.
“Booty & Comedy “ @ Cleos Such a great idea! Such an easy concept! This event is held every other Thursday, with the show starting at 9:30pm. They’ll have 2-3 comedians, with girls dancing between each set. It’s only on its second run, but you can tell this is going to be one of those events you don’t want to miss. Orlando’s very own comedian, Tight Mike, is the host for the evening. They bring in both local and national comedians. Last week, Hope Flood (from Comic View) was the headlining act, and she had the whole place rolling! During the show, there are 2-4-1 drink specials, and during some breaks, sometimes the DJ introduces $1 Lap Dances. I highly suggest you grabbing a large group of your friends for this one. It’s surely great for pre-gaming, or simply a night out on its own. Last week, the crew from 102JAMZ came out to celebrate Dawn Campbell’s birthday. www.flyerpromonow.com

Fan: Pink, this girl is in need of fashion help!! She has two toes going...one pigeon toe, and one camel toe! I could not believe she came out looking like this. Me and my girls have added her to our X-Files. Pinky: The name is Pinky, but I can dig that
hunny. I love the term used for this hot ass mess -- X-FILES! Is she for real? I can’t help but wonder. What really goes through some of these Diva-less minds!
Don’t Test Me Dammit Re: fasion sense
Disgruntled Fan: I wish they would take your
pinkys corner out of the book. If you would go back and look at each issue of your book you will find that your either color struck or you are a rasicts. You can't be Black! and if you are you got issues! According to every article that you have printed so far, all of the black people have no fashion sense and can't dress and all of the whites and hispanics are great dressers, I don't think so. I know your not black so let me school you on something. Black people make fashion! We give every other eithnic group their style. They have to watch us to see what's fashionable, ya feel me! Get your act together girl other wise I will complain to the publisher and let him know that he has hired someone who's color struck.
Best Dressed of the Week Well done ladies!
Pinky: Before you reply to Pinky about fashion
sense, you might want to learn how to spell the word. (learn how to spell, period. damn!) I understand what you are trying to say, and you will find that in future issues we will feature more ethnicity on good and bad fashion (we already have). It looks to me like you may not have the right "Fashion Sense" yourself, and may have been featured as worst dressed. I appreciate your comments because Pinky takes emails from others to feature in the article, but I don’t "feel ya." You should send me some pictures of different races that you feel need be featured. Until then, come correct when stepping to a Diva like “PINKY” boo boo.
If you see someone with terrible fashion, or they just might need alittle Pinky advise, send a picture and comment to pinkyscorner@yahoo.com. You can also find me on Facebook! www.flyerpromonow.com

Flyer Promo Now and TalkofOrlando.com presents this week's Talk of Orlando, a group of extraordinary men that we all
Dj's. Wikipedia defines the word "Dj" as a person who selects and plays recorded music for an audience. What Wikipedia fails to explain, is that a DJ is know as
responsible for more than just selecting
and playing music. They are responsible for keeping the music alive and vibrant as well as allowing people to rid of their weekly stresses.
Dj Infa-Red, Dj PointBlanc, Dj Kered & VOS are 4 Dj's that have taken this responsibility to the next level!
TonyV: Where and when did you guys get the inspiration to start DJ'ing?
VOS: We have always been influenced by music.
Growing up in a big Latino family we would always have parties and listen to all types of music from Salsa, freestyle, House, RNB, and Hip-Hop. But it was a friend who moved from to Orlando from Yonkers, NY, who introduced us to our first mixtape from Funk Master Flex that we were inspired. That Funk Flex Hot97 mixtape changed our lives. I remember saying," We can do that." So we started making mixtapes our freshman year in High School on a karaoke machine! (Laughing) Yes a karaoke machine. Later we saved up money a couple months later for real turntables and started rocking ever since.
TonyV: If you were stranded on an island, and had a turntable with only 5 records, what would those 5 records be? DJKERED: Wow that's a hard question, but here's just the 5 I can think of right now. Not in any particular order. 1. Slick Rick - The Great Adventures Of Slick Rick 2. Raekwon Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 3. Notorious B.I.G - Ready To Die 4. Nas – Illmatic & 5. Jay Z - Reasonable Doubt. TonyV: Where do you see the art of DJ'ing 10 years from now?
DJINFARED: Hopefully it doesn't go to digital. Serato was a huge revolutionizing step in DJ'ing. It helped us bring more music with us to the club, but it also helped the microwave DJ to emerge. Microwave DJ's are

people who just buy Serato and a library of music one day and all of a sudden they are "DJ's." It took a lot of hard work and determination for me and every other real DJ to get to the point that we are now. I don't really know. I see the underground sticking to the roots and skills and the sub culture of DJ'ing. The mainstream DJ I see on a decline. There is too much technology out there. It's like anything else the real will stay real and the fake will eventually crash and burn.
TonyV: You guys are all part of the TalkofOrlando.com Vol. 3 mixtape. How does it feel to be on a mixtape with each other?
DJPOINTBLANC: Honestly, I can't stand these other dudes! (Laughing) nah, I personally know everyone on this mixtape and consider them all well-rounded DJs. I feel that there is power in unity, so projects like these are definitely a good look! TonyV: Any advice for the up and coming DJ's? VOS: Never settle for less. If you surround yourself
with great people and learn from them, you will be great as well. Find a mentor. Set your goals and work hard! Study your craft because there is always room for growth and knowledge.
DJPOINTBLANC: Don't judge your success by what the next person is doing, create your own lane and do the best you can! Do your homework and most importantly, network! TonyV: Any last words, shoutouts, etc.? DJKERED: I want to give a shout out to Joey Nice,
Atiba, Fatman Biggz, Ces & Malica. Good looking to TalkOfOrlando.com for the love.
DJINFARED: Yeah shout out to TalkofOrlando.com for putting us together to make the mixtape. Shout to my Code Red and PrimeTime DJ's Family. Shout to all my DJ's and artists out here repping the city and to all the people bringing good attention to the City of Orlando. You know who you are, way too many to name!! VOS: Shout out to the Voice of da Streetz Street Hop Team! Our big brothers who put us under there wings: DJ Chino, Ricky Padilla & DJ Nasty! We appreciate you guys for life! Jessie Maguire! Tune in we go in heavy on the radio Wednesday Nites 91.5FM Backstage Pass. Thank you TalkofOrlando.com for putting this together. DJPOINTBLANC: Shouts: The PrimeTime DJs, Coldfront Ent., The Firm, Pressure Promo, Mr.CC Prod., TalkOfOrlando.com, NocturnalJungle.com & RadioSmash.net! Shouts to all my fellow DJs and to everyone that I've had the opportunity to meet!

T
he time has come!!! Training camp has begun and there are less than thirty days until kickoff of the 2009 NFL season. I’m still waiting for the final verdict on some players. Is Brandon Marshall going to leave the Broncos? If so, where will he go? Is Goodell going to reinstate Dante Stallworth? Of course I can’t forget about Michael Vick. I want answers and I want them soon. I only have a few more days to figure out who I want on my fantasy team. Yea I do that, I have a lot of time on my hands (don’t judge me). One thing I definitely would like to know is why the Giants agreed to a six- year $97.5 million deal ($35 mill guaranteed) with Eli Manning. This BTW is an extension of his previous contract so it will pay him $106.9 million in the next 7 years, making him the richest quarterback in the NFL. All I have to say about that is bullshit. He is not worth being the richest QB in the league. He’s not even in the best Quarterback in the league. I’m not downplaying the man’s skills but he only has one Super Bowl under his belt and he barely won that, obviously I’m still a little bitter about that win. I’m no hater I just feel like for $97 mill the Giants better go undefeated and win in Miami in 2010. While Eli is receiving beaucoup bucks Michael Crabtree, who was drafted by the 49ers, may hold out and not play in the 2009 season so he can re-enter the draft for 2010. Some say he is crazy but he feels he deserves more than what they are offering. I’m not sure what the offer is but I’m thinking the 49ers could use some help. Crabtree was pretty consistent during his two-year college career. He had at least one touchdown in 13 consecutive games. Keep at it Michael, closed mouths don’t get fed. I think Goodell should let Dante play this season, I can understand suspension for a few games, I’m thinking around 8. The man served his time and admitted his wrong doing. I am by no means defending his actions but it could have happened to anyone of us. If any of you know the MacArthur

Causeway in Miami then you know what I’m talking about. Stallworth wouldn’t be the first player to serve time and come back for the following season. As a matter of fact I know one off the top of my head, Tank Johnson, who served 45 days in 2006. I won’t even go into detail about the league’s rebel, Adam ‘Pacman’ Jones. I’ve had a few debates with other sports lovers such as myself about Michael Vick’s return to the NFL. One animal lover told me that what Vick did was cruel and inhumane and he shouldn’t be allowed to play. I can see where that person was coming from. However, the NFL is a business. And a business needs to generate income in order to thrive. Now I’m not saying the NFL won’t profit without Michael Vick. I’m simply saying that it will greatly impact whichever team he is picked up by. There will be those who want to see him play to see if he still has it and of course we can’t forget the haters who will just show up to boo; Either way its money in the bank. Let’s not forget he has served his time as well. I would just like to make sure if he is reinstated that he goes to a team with a great O-line. I’m sure he still has his speed but I’d like to see his arm. 30 Second Time Out This 30 second time out is for Rashard Lewis, who was suspended for 10 games because he tested positive for steroids. He must have been at the same party with David Ortiz and too cool for school Manny Ramirez. Not that my opinion matters but I’m a tad bit disappointed, don’t give people a reason to downplay your abilities. I guess your basketball IQ outweighed your real IQ on this one. Nonetheless, I’m still a fan and look forward to seeing you this season. In the Huddle Word on the street is the local basketball team to beat is Tampa’s Stay Ready. They won the Tampa Pro Am Championship and I heard the opposing team had two NBA players on their squad. Good for ya’ll.

ip-hop artist Drake fell off stage while performing along side Lil’ Wayne in a recent performance. Reports allege that his mishap was due to an on-going knee problem, the fall was so severe that he had to be carried off stage by four men who ran from backstage. Drake is slated to perform in Florida early September, however he was last seen walking around Toronto with a cane before his latest show. Yeah, really, he’s on a cane! Drake was not the only entertainer to suffer performance mishaps as Rockstar Steven Tyler was airlifted to a hospital Thursday morning after falling from the stage during an Aerosmith concert in Sturgis, North Dakota. Maybe someone should come out with musician’s insurance, just a thought.
Paula Abdul is leaving American Idol! A weekly Entertainment, Legal News & Advice column from Shannon A. Ligon, The Entertainment & Legal Diva And on to some much needed advice... Dear Shannon, I am about to get married soon, problem is my husband has turned into Groomzilla. I envisioned a beautiful, rather quaint wedding, which has been turned into my fiancé’s ‘let’s go all out and impress our friends’ event. I don’t mind having a good time on my wedding day, but I’m to the point where I’m going to have to put women in my wedding party I don’t even like! Please help. Sincerely, Marrying Mr. Life of the Party Dear Marrying, First off, congratulations! While your wedding day is meant to be special please understand that this is a day about both of you; the bringing together of two into one. His family and friends, with yours, and vice versa. Try and appreciate having such an involved fiancé, while allowing him to see your dreams for the day too! If he starts doing shots of Hennessy with his boys while at the alter; just know the exit out of the church is the same way you entered. Best of luck, Shannon “Love at first sight is easy to understand; it's when two people have been looking at each other for a lifetime that it becomes a miracle." -Amy Bloom

“LOS GANTERINOS”
Por: Julio C. Gonzalez - jggraphic@hotmail.com
E
