orget what you may have heard…Orlando’s nightlife is poppin'! There are not many cities you can visit where you can find somewhere to party every single night of the week. One of the things I love most about this city is when the scene starts dying down or thinning out, the next promoter will come up with another great party to throw & shake things up a little. As we begin to approach the holidays & the end of the year, the city is filled with parties & events. Here are a couple of grown & sexy events that I will be attending to, so I suggest you meet me there! “1st Annual Meet Me Under the Mistletoe” @ Cuba Libre Jay Leon is a pretty popular name amongst the promoter scene. He is known for hosting the more “adult” scene parties, where you feel comfortable dressing up for. His weekly Saturday event out at this same venue has grown wide in popularity. This special holiday event is on Saturday December 19, and I highly suggest your presence if you are looking for a more grown up holiday party. “This Christmas: The Ultimate Christmas Celebration” @ Rain Ultra Lounge This here proves that common “friendnemies” can come together for the sake of doing something good. Frontline Promotions and the NXT LVL Project has teamed up with JADE Entertainment to bring us this holiday toy drive party. The toys will benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Orlando. This event will be held Saturday December 19. There are plenty of holiday parties coming up in the next couple of weeks. Be sure to stay tuned to get all that info. Next edition, I will be giving my top
favorites over the year: favorite promoter, favorite club, favorite party, favorite event theme, etc. So, if you have any favorites that you’d like me to consider, email me at starletinthestreets@gmail.com. Promoters, send me your holiday event plans so I may tell the streets! Friends, I’ll see you out on the scene. Until then, LET’S CELEBRATE!
STARLET MAIL Hello Starlet, Thank you for staying consistent with your party suggestions. Every week I turn to your page to line up my party schedule for the week. I just wanted to let you know that you are very informative, and you know where’s the best places to party. I am new to this town, and at first thought the nightlife sucked. But every since I started reading your articles, I noticed that this city is pretty hot! Keep doing what you do girl! I am a dedicated fan! Miss New On the Scene Miss New On the Scene, Thank you for the compliments. It pleases me that I have made your party life so much more enjoyable. Yes, Orlando is a best kept secret when it comes to our nightlife. The only thing that separates us from the bigger cities is the 2am curfew. But, you never know… things could change with that. And then the country better look out, cause Orlando will definitely be a top city! Thanks for your dedication & the email. I strive to continue to impress & make your nightlife a spectacular experience. www.flyerpromonow.com

Music’s always been a passion of d p r ation with ut al la Music is a passion of mine. My brother’s a DJ. My father on t ting Or b el he m land mine, you know. I grew was in music. My whole family had music o ap. up around music. I’ll do it background. I actually got started when I came to Orlando. I met DJ Greg G, and he featured me on his mixtape he had out at the time. That was about 6 years ago. Every since then, me & him put out about six mixtapes. Then, I was managed by Malik from Ozone. He was my mentor in getting me started in music.
Talk to me about this mixtape. How long have you been working on it? Any big features? What’s the goal with its distribution? The mixtape is called “The Bird Flu” and its hosted by Greg G. Big ups to Greg G. I’ve been working on it for about four months. They call me “The Microwave”. I’m in and out. Quick with it, you know what I’m talking bout. Twenty-four tracks, all me. Some freestyle, some original beats. You know, strictly for the streets. For all my niggas out there on the grind. You’ve been off the scene for a little bit. What have you been doing? I say I’ve been off the scene for about a year. Well, not off the scene…behind the scene. Chillin man. Took a year off. Did some traveling. Relaxing. Working out, eating good. But I’m back.
regardless. Deal or no deal. It’s a part of me. Slim Goodye IS music.
Are you working with any labels? Who’s your management team? My management team is Ozone Magazine. Malik is my manager. Right now I am working with a couple of labels. We’re trying to work something out. We got Shady Aftermath and also we made contact with Cash Money right now. So hopefully one of them can get your boy on the big screen. What’s next for Slim Goodye? What’s next for me is hopefully I’ll be signed by the beginning of the year. And I am working on a album right now that should drop by the end of the year. And you know, stay grinding. Shout outs to Greg G and my team at True Story Music. Hopefully in 2010, I’ll be out there. I’m gonna put Orlando on the map. The first real nigga to put Orlando on the map. Make sure you get that. Make sure you write that down. LOL. I got that, and I will. Where can we find your mixtape? It’s going to be everywhere. Every barber shop, club, hood restaurants, everywhere. I got my street out there doing what they do.

and
sharpening
his
skill
his
journey down the yellow brick road had began.
Along his journey he has expanded
his wings and ventured into writing for other artist, but he still kept true to his passion.
J Terra has opened up for major Jadakiss, Sheek Louch, Styles P. and DMX. J Terra is on his way to being artist like
a breakthrough artist who will bring something special to
Hip Hop. With his “Terrabyte”
newly released mixed album
has been receiving great reviews with his new single
“Wait, Wait, Wait” is not only
blazing the streets but receiving love in the clubs.
Watch J Terra as he continues
on his journey of success.
What is it about your music that makes you different from any other local artist here in Orlando? I rap about real life and real life experiences, none of it is fabricated. I articulate well but when I rap it’s not just words, metaphors and punch lines to make you move or dance, don’t get me wrong, I do make club songs and try to cater to the industry, but I want everyday people to be able to relate to me. Who would you say is your biggest competition and why? I believe the only competition I have is me, I do my music and others do theirs. My style is unique to me, I don’t compete except with myself and I do that to be a better and more creative artist. I challenge myself constantly, experiment with different genres of music, such as Rock and R&B. Versatility and originality is key in this industry, especially if you’re seeking longevity In the past there have been issues with artists claiming certain lifestyles in their lyrics but really not living it; do you live what you rap about? Absolutely!! I write about current events in my life , what I do, what I’ve seen and done, if I’m not spitting about the here and now, I’m giving you a narration of past real life events and experiences. Look, I believe everyone should be themselves no matter who likes it or doesn’t! If you rapping untruths eventually people will find out it’s a lie and all it does is damage your career. What are the current projects that you are working on and what makes them special? I'd like to think everything I do is special! I put everything into my music, but I am officially dropping my mix album called Terrabyte Thanksgiving Day. The reason I call it a mix album is because it has a combination of 5 freestyles, 15 original songs and a few skits, more than your average mix tape. I am also featured on a single that will dropping shortly with an artist by the name of Bedo called “Supastar”. I have also started on my next project; this upcoming project will show my diversity in other genres such as R&B, Alternative Rock and Top 40. This project is definitely going to be crazy! If music wasn’t an option, what would you do and why? It’s hard imagining my life without music, but if I had to choose a different career path, I wouldn’t steer too far and would remain in the entertainment industry and give acting a shot, acting has always interested me, but I have never pursued it.

I have heard that in order for you to be successful in the entertainment industry you must sacrifice. Do you feel that is a true statement? Most definitely!! Sacrifice is all there is. As an artist you have to constantly sacrifice! You sacrifice emotionally, mentally, financially and even physically at times. Giving up time with my family is the hardest for me. It’s either you are out trying to make it or out trying to keep it! Either way it’s all hard work and sacrifice. The transition of Rap music has changed from the age of consciousness and awareness to angry "hard core" lyrics to the glamorization of money and women. Do you feel that Rap music as we know it will go back to where it actually meant something and where does your music fit in that puzzle? I believe different strokes for different folks, it’s a new era….. As far as where my music fits in, well having been raised in the Lower Eastside of Manhattan, NY and then moving down here in the South I have created my own unique style, a blend of different types of lyrics, some will have you deep in thought and others will have you dancing! I say listen to my music and form your own opinion. What are some of your biggest accomplishments thus far for you in the game? Thus far I would say being able to share the stage with artists such as; Jadakiss, Styles P, Sheek Louch, and Collie Buddz. Also the music I have released, Terrabyte is my fourth mix tape and it’s a problem!! Where can we find you and where can we hear your music? You can find me performing locally in central Florida. Also look out for me on tour early spring 2010. I officially released “Terrabyte” the Mix Album on Thanksgiving and is available for free download at www.TalkofOrlando.com, www.HipHopSwag.com and www.DJOPMixTapes.com. When you’re out on the scene in Daytona, one name rings on everybody’s lips. Fireboy! Every city has it dominating force. Fireboy Entertainment would be Daytona’s. Fireboy Entertainment has been around for well over 5 years now, throwing the hottest parties & the livest shows out there on the east coast. But after it’s CEO, Josh Oglesby, ran into some trouble a couple years back, certain things came to a pause. Now, after his release, Josh has launched Fireboy Records & is taking over the music scene just as ferocious as he did promotions back in the day. Josh’s “Mahammad Ali’s” tone & “Suge Knight’s” towering demeanor exemplifies destined success. WORDS BY BRANDI NIKOLE Who is Fireboy? What is it that you do? Fireboy is a record label out of Daytona Beach. An entertainment company…Fireboy Records, Inc. & Fireboy Entertainment. I am the CEO, Josh Oglesby…president & damn near everything else but an artist. I got a team. But, we based out of Daytona. We make music, we throw shows. We grind, we a record label. We Daytona. We the next thing poppin.
here. So, my little curve ball came & my team held it down a little bit. They stop throwing parties, basically. But they never stop rapping & going to the studio & shit on their own. So when I came home, everything was basically still there. So I just had to follow up with my game plan. So, this is the game plan.
And what is the game plan?
What made you start Fireboy Records? Who are the artists that you represent? “Fireboy” started back when I was in high school. Everything was “fire”. It was like a personality. It was something we did. Our cars was fire, our house, our guns, our weed…put it that way-“everything fire, boy”. Our look, our jewelry…”everything fire, boy!”. What made me start it was my lifestyle. And that started back in high school. Then it got corporate on paper back in 2003. And it’s been “Fireboy” every since. Our parties “Fireboy”, you know what I am saying. We did a lot of parties: Tabu, Mirage, in Daytona, in Melbourne. We did a lot of shows: Juvenile, Ashanti, Mysitcal, Genuine, Field Mob….all these were thrown under Fireboy Entertainment. That’s how many from Orlando may know us from. But we was also recording too. What we did was we promoted a show & we will perform before the big show. So, we’ll murk the stage, we’ll have our crowd out there. Then we let them go on. So we getting everything. We paying, we getting paid, and we performing. We was getting our shine on.
How long ago was that? We was going hard with the promotional shit 2002-2004.
Ok, so then what happened? Hahaha. Yea. I had a little, you know, curve ball. God throws you curve balls, you feel me. I was in college & everything, playing ball & all that shit. I had my little NFL agents, & all that. I got a curve ball, that’s what happens sometimes when you ain’t doing what you suppose to do. Or I guess that’s what they say. But I am doing what I’m supposed to do so that’s why I am still

To conquer shit. You know, to keep going in this music industry. Get a little more structure than before, & make money. Get billions off that shit.
Left to Right: Supa Gutta, Fyeboy Nino, Sticks
| www.flyerpromonow.com
Are you strictly music now? Naw, we still got Fireboy Entertainment & we do shows. Basically, they are our own shows cause we got our own artists. They get paid shows right now. And if the price right, and an artist comes down for a feature or something, we work shows, we still do parties for the people. Local parties. I’m based in Daytona, so we’ll do a Bethune Cookman Homecoming party or some shit like that. Big events. We ain’t doing no every week party. We ain’t got one club locked down unless we going in that bitch to party. Other than that, we pretty much rapping. We doing our own shows. They paying us a little bit for shows. And if not, and we ain’t been to your city, we’ll come to your city for little of nothing. Just give us some gas money & shit, we’ll come mash that bitch, I swear. Twenty deep, all of us jeweled up, gunned up, everything…we gonna get it in. Like real nigga shit. It is what it is. It’s a lifestyle…this shit is for real.
Tell me about some of the artists on your label. I got Sticks. I got Supa Gutta. He been with me since like ’99. I was going to the studio with these niggas since ’99. Sticks was with somebody else, then he had the little Slip-n-Slide situation. When I came home, I grab Sticks cause he’s an artist & he goes hard & he’s consistent. He already has a fan base. Fireboy already had a fan base from promoting shows & music. So I grab Sticks, he’s my #1 artist. Supa Gutta comes in second, and they are actually cousins. Tavoria, she working on a little deal with us. We gonna sign her, that’s my dawg. She’s been with us for a while. But she so grown & mature in her own label way, so I got to figure
the best situation to put her. If my situation fits. I’m not saying I run shit, but I do. So I got to humble myself & get the best situations for the both of us. That’s pretty much all I have on paper. Sticks was hot enough that the president of IMG South came to meet him personally. Then he gave us a label deal with distribution & everything with Universal Music Group. So we gonna take that shit & capitalize off that shit. We gonna make all the money that we can. We gonna take small steps & we gonna market, we gonna promote & push & get everything that we can. I can sign labels & push labels through my distribution. I can do what the f**k I want to do, basically. And I been promoting for my whole life, so it ain’t like I really need them for shit, really. But if they gonna place it in stores, hell yea, I’m gonna take that shit & I’m gonna get money from that shit & add it on to what I’m already getting money from. So at the end of the gotdamn day, Fireboy going to be successful. We gonna make money. And that’s bout it. We don’t give a f**k! We smoke a lot of purp. We party. Yall come party in Daytona, so come party in Daytona.
What all services do you provide at Fire Boy Number 1 Stop? It’s in Daytona…833 Mason Ave Daytona Beach, 32117. We provide studio opportunity. We have professional equipment. With professional (assistance). The engineers there graduated from Full Sail, and we got the hood engineers as well. Then we do CD duplication service for artists that need their CDs duplicated & printed. Put in sleeves, we do graphic designs & all that. We don’t print but we actually do thermal print on the CD itself. And we got a hip hop shop. We sell everything in that bitch. It’s the One Stop Shop…all the way to mutha f**king pickled eggs. Shit, I want to get every dollar. The One Stop Shop you can get shoes, clothes, the latest shit out the mall. Jewelry, not too expensive, but you know, nice little jewelry. Watches, hats, whatever you want. You can get your studio time if you like doing music. We got a car wash. You can come in here when the mall closes & grind. I’m bout to put a barber shop in that bitch. I’m gonna get all that honest money.
Explain your philosophy behind promotions & marketing. We getting our single ready, “Off Da Whammy”. We had contacted Nicki Minaj peoples to get her on it, but I think it’s strong enough without her or any other features. I would like Baby on that bitch, but he like “off da whammy”. But that’s Sticks single. We gonna start off with radio. I already do 2-3 thousands posters. I got those shits all up over Florida. I bout to organize my street team. We got a couple of vans wrapped. I want to hit every mom & pops, I want to hit stores where a nigga wouldn’t think we would have a flyer posted up. I’m gonna hit the streets real hard. We gonna do like a promotional tour for the colleges. I want to do one for high schools, which I’ll do that shit free! All highschools, yall ass need a show for homecoming, prom, I don’t give a damn. Line us up. We coming through. We gonna get on college radios & shit. I can do the streets, I’ve been doing the streets my whole life. I just want to get it in. I’ll do the TV commercials, radio commercials, I’m gonna let the streets know its coming.
Which strategy you feel is the most important to gain the exposure for your artists? The physical, which goes with the TV. When they see the TV commercials, they believe it cause its television. They advertise “taste good” on television. When you see the hamburger, you want it. So when they see us with the jewels & all that bullshit, they gonna want it. So we gonna advertise on TV & do a lot of physical shit. Cause when you see this shit, it’s for real…ain’t no bullshit. We gonna roll thirty deep, & it’s hard not to be seen. We roll deep & we don’t give a f**k. We gonna have the businessmen there, accountants there, the white collar…we gonna have everybody with us. That’s how we roll. We gonna have the gunmen. We gonna have the purpmen. The haircutting men. The do boys. We gonna have everybody, everybody roll with us. Girls can roll too. We roll like that & we gonna take over shit. And we’re likeable people. We respect people too. There’s no disrespecting nobody. But, we gonna get ours. Whatever is set out in our blueprint, our structure. That’s what we gonna get… what we claim. So we blueprint everything out for the new year 2010 coming in. The 1st quarter we gonna grind hard, by the 2nd quarter we gonna be on our tour shit. So, I think being physical & being seen is the most critical part of promotions. Oh, & excuse me…the DJs… of course, I’m sorry. The DJs & the mixtapes. I got a lot of DJs I’m gonna work with. They are a lot of them that I talk to on a daily basis. We gonna give them all different music. Give them all hot shit. Every DJ will have their own different vibes. DJs gonna help get that shit out. I break bread niggas…or I’ll muscle…what you want to do.
What sets you apart in this industry? I don’t sleep…at all. I get bout 2-3 hours. I didn’t sleep while I was selling drugs-EVER. That was risk though, you feel me. So I take that same grind & ambition. I played ball, I went to school. I know good from bad. So I take it all in, & I do it all positive & I guarantee you, we’ll get success.
What’s next for Fireboy & Fireboy Records? I don’t know man. Just pray real hard & just hope everything works out. I do believe in God. I fall asleep praying, so all I can do is let him guide it. I’m gonna blueprint with his help, and I’m gonna push hard. The next step is success. I’m going to plan everything for the year, & put my goals down for 2010, like I did 2009. I got out of prison in 2008, & I didn’t open up my studio until like August 2008 & now we got a deal in 2009…who the f**k do that shit? A bitch that don’t sleep! So in 2010, I plan on having millions off music. I want my artist to go platinum. I’m gonna put out an album too, shit. I know that bitch gonna sell, for real. This music is for real, and its good music, for real. Gets some publishing money. Some royalties coming in. Nigga got the mind frame, so lets get it.

A weekly Entertainment, Legal News & Advice column from Shannon A. Ligon, The Entertainment & Legal Diva And on to some much needed advice... Dear Shannon, What should I do if my mother is pressuring me to accept her new boyfriend and I've witnessed him treating her wrong on more than one occasion? Please help. -Concerned Daughter Dear Daughter: Our mother's are our closest connection to life, and protecting them becomes a child's greatest concern. Home is a very sacred place and adding someone new into the picture can interrupt it. I don't know what "wrong" means but if your mother is in physical or emotional danger, you should notify a close family friend or relative to help address the situation. If not, try and address the issue from a 3rd party perspective while removing your emotional ties as her daughter. If your mother is truly happy with this man try to support and love her decision to nurture a healthy relationship. May you all find happiness and peace. Be Blessed, Shannon

I
never have a problem admitting when I’m wrong. I was so wrong with my prediction on the Patriots vs Saints game a couple of Mondays ago. I was upset but nothing in comparison to how upset I was when they lost to the Dolphins. I don’t like married Brady. He, well the whole team, played better when he had a girl with a baby mama on the side. There is no point in crying over spilt milk they just need to secure a playoff birth and then play like the team they once were so they can get to the SuperBowl. That same Sunday, week 13, the Saints nearly lost to the Redskins. That would have been hilarious. They managed to pull off a W though and maintain their undefeated status. Who didn’t manage to pull off a win was the Florida Gators. I guess this proves that no one wins all the time. I don’t know what Tebow is going to do though. More than likely enter the draft but do you think that he can actually be a QB in the league. I have had a few conversations about such topic and have found many people agree. Tim Tebow is a good quarterback but not NFL Quarterback material. Don’t get me wrong we all know he has skills but the NFL is a different level and as a quarterback the competition to prove you’re the man for the job Tim Tebow is much harder. One bad snap and it could be your last. Some feel he will get picked up become a back up and get washed into the oblivion of once great college players. Others think he will get picked up and turned into a tightend. Either way, he had a great run at UF. I took a mini vacation and traveled to Dallas. While there, I was able to attend the Hawks vs. Mavericks game. The Hawks were leading pretty much the entire game and went home with the win. It wasn’t a

bad game. Not the most entertaining, but I did notice that Atlanta plays well together. A team that plays well together, never gives up, and makes free throws has a good shot at winning a season. Let’s see if the Hawks manage to make it out of the first round. Speaking of the NBA Allen Iverson came out of retirement all I am going to say about that is WHY? 30 Second Timeout This 30 second timeout goes to the Media. Leave Tiger ALONE. He isn’t doing or hasn’t done anything that most athletes, if not all, have done. I am not stereotyping I’m just saying I know plenty men who are not athletes that cheat. It’s just so much easier for an athlete to do it and get away with it. So what if Tiger put forth this saint-like persona, you didn’t have to believe it. He made a mistake. Honestly women may hate me for saying this but the mistake wasn’t cheating it was leaving his name on Tiger Woods the voicemail. Without proof it would have been her word against his. Well now we know there was more than one her. Let me find out Tiger got some swag. Get off Tiger’s you know what and find some real news to report. In the Huddle This is for the jump-offs and groupies well actually any woman who finds herself in any kind of relationship with a professional athlete or celebrity. Keep your mouth shut. I know some may feel like Tiger’s mistress getting 6 figures for that voicemail was getting paid. I disagree. When the 100K is gone then what? Back to lying on your back? I say, imagine how much more you could get if you were the one who kept quiet. I’m not condoning blackmail. I’m just suggesting that you be smarter about your decisions.

Do you understand your MIRANDA RIGHTS? Most people are familiar with Miranda Rights. • You have the right to remain silent. • Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. • You have a right to an attorney. • If you cannot afford one, one will be appointed for you by the court. But did you know that Miranda Rights do NOT have to be read in order to make an arrest valid? Miranda Rights are based on your Fifth Amendment right to remain silent. They are required to be read for your protection in the event that you will be questioned by law enforcement, so that you do not unwillingly or unknowingly say anything that would incriminate yourself. If someone is questioned by law enforcement without having their rights read to them, any statements made may be suppressed or thrown out by the court, after the filing of a Motion to Suppress. If an officer does not question a suspect, his failure to read Miranda Rights will have no bearing on that case. If someone voluntarily provides information without being questioned by law enforcement, any statements given will also be used against them. It is important to know that when speaking with law enforcement, there is no such thing as "off the record". It is law enforcements goal to investigate what they believe to be a crime. ANY information that they obtain in that process will be used for the purpose of prosecution.
