ON THE

TWIRL

is a new features that addresses the theory “There is nothing to do in Orlando”. Event socialite – Brandi Nikole will give you a taste of Central Florida’s upcoming event & Fabski hot spots beyond the club doors. These streets were made for twirlin’….and that’s just what I’ll do. One of these days, this girl is gonna twirl all over you! Yes, indeed, you know nobody can twirl Orlando like I doski! I look for the entertainment away from the norm, the party away from the scene and the events away from the popular. On the contrary, Orlando’s nightlife is filled with so much to do, unlike anything you’ve ever experienced before! Every week doesn’t have to be about the same party, with the same people, on the same days! Don’t believe me? Ha ha! Just follow my twirl…

Art Me ORLANDO June 14 at Rok Room If you missed the first one a couple months back, shame on youski! ArtMe Orlando brought to you by Event Junkies; creatively mixes art, music, and entertainment and features the artistic visuals by StephWood - Orlando’s best kept secret in the art world! If you are not familiar with her work, she paints vivid, funky illustrations of those people who rock in their entertainment sectors such as The Runners, Lil Wayne, and even local celebs like Ricky P. Her artwork also includes seductive poses of random women, with all their beauty captured with bright colors and eye grabbing themes. The last Art Me Orlando showcased an open canvass with paints and paintbrush available for guests to paint their own artwork, with paint by numbers - such a fabski ideaski! The night concluded with a mini showdown with burlesque dancers. Totally out of your norm for an artshow, but totally worth your time! StefWood shares this upcoming edition is titled Art Me Orlando: Self-Expression and has a different perspective than the last show. “Art Me Orlando: Self Expression is focused more towards me using painting as an outlet for self-expression. I am super quiet, and if I’m out being ‘social’, I don’t usually put myself out there. I wanted to open up a bit and paint some things that I find interesting”. Steph also tells me to expect a lot of female nudity. “I find the female form amazing, no matter the subject. It’s something about the form of soft curves and simple light that can make us as females look amazing. I’m sure the fellas would agreeski! Steph will also premiere her self portrait works, which she admits to being quite difficult. “Taking a step back and trying to paint what is actually there versus what I actually think, and see your real self.... It’s a pretty deep task and I recommend anyone to try it!”

Art ME Orlando will also showcase DJ Remmington Steele, Live music from Atiba and a Pop-Up Shop from Colourful Money. Well, I recommend you step from the whirl and get on your twirl! Twirl with me this Monday June 14 – 8pm to 12a at Rok Room for Art Me Orlando: Self-Expressions brought to you by EventJunkies.net and StephWoodPaint.com

FASHION&LIFESTYLENOW If you see someone with terrible fashion, or they just might need a little Pinky advise, send a picture and comment to

pinkyscorner@yahoo.com. You can also find me on Facebook!

Fav of the Week! Missy in the middle. Are those spanks or stockings you have on under that leotard? Its like a whole different color from your skin, and YOU CAN SEE IT CLEARLY! Why did your girls let you do this to yourself? This is a hot mess, and nowhere near Diva! Really...like why did you do this?

Push the bar with your fashion and style. I love the colorful bow tie with the grey vest! Your Princess compliments this look very well with the grey fitted dress. Soft yet edgy look!

Coochie Shot Alot of people wanted to be seen by Nicki, signed by Nicki, and maybe even a hug, but this chick in the white dress wanted to give Nicki a coochie shot. Boo Boo don’t wear a dress like that with no drawers, UNLESS you want the whole club to see it. GROSS!

ARTIST REPRESENTATION: “Who You With?”

A colleague once stated that people often talk about how Artists are messing up the game with bad music, but Execs are just as guilty with bad business practices. One of the key aspects of being successful as an Artist is having proper representation. Having the right team members in place is critical to your success! A growing trend with Urban Artists is the hiring of unqualified team members; most hire family members or childhood friends. While there is nothing wrong with this, Hire them because they are qualified not because you feel you have to put them on. Keep in mind, team members are the people that everyone sees before even meeting you, they are your reflection. So what makes good representation? I’m so glad you asked LOL Whether you are a Manager, Publicist, etc. You have to be professional and know how to conduct business on all levels even in Hip Hop. The ideal person should possess a “Corporate Street” characteristic, someone who can deal with the MTV’s and William Morris Agencies as well as with the Mom and Pop stores and Indie companies. Reading, writing and verbal skills are a must. As well as being able to effectively negotiations, haveing contacts and get the job done. Attitude is everything. No one wants to deal with a jerk. I think that Damon Dash is one of the best business men to grace the industry. He always wasn’t the nicest; but people sucked it up because he had Jay Z so what do you do? Now that Damon and Jay are no longer in business, you don’t have to deal with Damon now, “Ok so, make another Hov.” Managers remember,“you work for the artist; they don’t work for you.” Although you were hired to keep them on track, at the end of the day they sign your check. It’s not about you; it’s about them. Don’t worry about flying first class, or losing a deal because you can’t get the cut that you want. Your perks will always come. Lastly, drive and persistence goes a long way. A manager and artist must be equally yoked. As a team; you have to hold each other accountable; Artists its okay to tell your Manager no; Managers its okay not to be treated as a doormat. You have to believe in each other; if you don’t - it won’t work.

ithout a doubt, summer time is certainly here! And I don’t mean by the scorching temperatures, I mean by the sizzling parties. There’s that one holiday weekend that kicks the summerdaze into play that we all have been anticipating for all winter; Memorial Day Weekend. This is the weekend where most folks head down south to Miami, or across the country to Las Vegas, and even out in the waters like Puerto Rico. I can’t even front…I’m usually out of here during this weekend myself. But this year, I decided to stay behind and see exactly how Orlando gets down for this three day weekend. Sure enough, my Facebook events calendar was booked with over 25 events going down JUST IN ONE WEEKEND! I didn’t know how to choose which event I would attend, so I shook my Magic 8 Ball, and here are a couple of parties my fate lead me to….and OH HOW FATEFUL!

NICKI MINAJ @ THE ROXY On this night, Roxy was definitely the place to kick off your Memorial Weekend! If you weren’t there, you were totally square…or couldn’t afford the cover charge! From what they were charging at the door, you would’ve thought it was the Classic Weekend instead of Memorial Weekend. However, for Nicki Minaj, folks really didn’t care. Now, I’ve been to the Roxy quite a few times in my day, but the energy that filled the club on the night was unlike anything I’ve experienced before. The ladies were all dressed in their “Nicki” best…all Barbie up, bright lips, tight leggings, heavy cleavages! The dudes came out dressed to throw money in the air. Then once Nicki Minaj stepped onto stage, the crowd turned into a huge music video. I was impressed on how the crowd knew every single word to all of her freestyles and singles. She hasn’t even put an album

out yet! My favorite part of the night was the time and dedication that Nicki spent on her fans. She kept her promise and signed many “tig ole bitties” and brought a Louis Vuitton duffle bag full of small stuff animals that she autographed and passed out to her fans. Orlando has been waiting for her to visit, and she definitely left a lasting impression in our hearts. If you missed any of this, don’t worry! “Jammin in the Club,” which is powered by 102JAMZ’s website, was in the building capturing every bit of the night so folks like you don’t miss a beat! Be sure to check that out.

PILLOW TALK @ ROOM 23 (CLUB 23…POTATO, POTATOE) Let’s be honest…I love the concept and I always have high hopes for this monthly party. But each time I go, I get disappointed. When they first premiered this event, the hype and draw for me was the idea of chillin and vibin to RnB and slow jams all night long. In a venue setting like Room 23, with the large VIP areas and couches, I could really enjoy some pillow talk. But every time I go, the majority of the evening is filled with hip hop and rap to get the party started, and then by the last hour or maybe two, they want to play the slow jams. Now, maybe it’s just me, but that is just about the same format for any night in the club; party hard all night while the liquor is flowing, then slow it down when the liquor starts talking. I want that RnB and slow jam filled evening where I can slow dance with my significant other and just chill without all the “clubbin.” I believe the promoters are afraid sticking to the concept “pillow talk” will not bring out the crowd they expect. To that, I say the hell with the majority…start pleasing the minority and watch what can happen. Sometimes it shouldn’t be about the quantity, but rather the quality. Yes my lil nightcrawlers, some parties I like, some I don’t…I’m human just like you and I go out to have a good time. It’s my duty to report back to you exactly how I see it, and how I experienced it. With that being said, I am looking for some new parties to attend that will excite my streets! Having a party, concert, or large event? Maybe you went somewhere this weekend and had an awful time and want to tell the streets all about it. Send me your gripes, grins, and must-be-there’s to starletinthestreets@gmail.com. Until next time… LET’S CELEBRATE!

DRAKE Thank Me Later

Ohhh – how I love the digital game… They allow me to be up-to-date and be lazy at the same time LOL. Recently, the cyber giants leaked highly-anticipated “Thank Me Later” from Drake (like we didn’t see this coming, right?) The album was leaked May 29 and will be release for SALE on June 15. Odd enough Drake goes against grain like always and he shares in a recent twitter post “I gave away free music for years so we’re good over here...just allow it to be the soundtrack to your summer and ENJOY! JUNE 15th!”. I digg that because he understand stands sometimes you can’t beat the system and just because its free doesn’t mean it will be the determent of his album sells. Just ask his Young Money boss Lil Wayne, whose album Tha Carter III sold over one million copies in its first week, boosted by his internet popularity. So with all this being said I was not disappointed by Drake’s album but I will acknowledge it was somewhat of a smooth listen outside of the energy of his well-known track “Over”. I don’t want to prematurely say he is catering for the female audience but I can’t ignore his melodic approach. Drake’s maintain his amazing word play but falls flat on hitting multiple rhythmic dynamics. Check out what Drake’s “Thank Me Later” which he hopes will be the soundtrack of the summer… But I say if your chillin heavy this summer then push play – if not, then don’t.

FOR THOSE WHO DON’T KNOW YOU, PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELF. I am Kever Ones. WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO START KEVER & COMPANY? The street culture is what I was raised around, the NYC graffiti scene and everything flashy and out of the box. Seeing the art forms that arise from nothing really motivates me to push the limits and create materials that are exclusive and one of a kind. HOW TO DO YOU PLAN ON PROMOTING DH SO THE NATION CAN KNOW WHO YOU ARE? We are an independent group who is currently not signed. As a team we do a lot of web promotion and marketing. We network and promote our services that we provided under the DH umbrella. OUR GOAL IS TO MAKE DH A BRAND a household name, whether it is music, clothes, etc... Whatever brings in the money! WHY NAME YOUR BRAND KEVER & COMPANY? The name says it all. It’s not all about me; it’s about Kever and the customers who purchase my clothing. WHAT SEPARATES YOUR CLOTHING FROM THE OTHERS?

My brand is unique. I love to make pieces that stand out and that are bold. There are no limits to what I do when I’m at the lab, I take risks with my fashion and I don’t follow trends

DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR FUTURE ENTREPRENEURS? Keep your head up at all times! The road is going to get tougher down the line and when it does it’s how you react that’s going to keep you ahead of the game. I’ve been thru a lot these past few years but

Blaq Soul Entertainment was originated in 2005. It was started by Tony Hood and Rafael “Bear” who always had a vision of starting a record label. Along with these two gentlemen they have partnered along with Alize who was also very well known. Since then they have expanded their label to feature several artists. They have received some national recognition with an appearance on B.E.T.’s 106 n’ Park where Tony Hood and Alize had a spectacular performance under the bright lights. Upcoming they have their label compilation cd which they will be releasing this summer. They discussed all of these events and more with me.

What's good boss? How's life and business?

Life is good. No complaints. Currently we’re undergoing multiple tasks/projects this year and can’t wait to show Orlando and the world what we have in store. How long has it been since Blaq Soul Entertainment founded and how did it originate?

Blaq Soul Entertainment, a.k.a. B.S.E. has been around since early 2005. Tony Hood and Rafael “Bear” always knew a record label was something they wanted to become involved with. So after Tony Hood developed a name for himself alongside partner Alize in 2008 we set out to make the dream a reality. Legalizing Blaq Soul Entertainment in 2009!

Blaq Soul Entertainment

What are some of the hottest artists on the label and what tracks are being played around the Central Florida area as we speak?

Lol that would make us bias! Honestly, everyone on the team brings something different to the table but all have the same level of greatness. With that said, we have J. Wise –“Gone on Patron”, Tony Hood n’ Alize- “Hi Haters”, Twan D. The Student –“Focused on the Money” all currently being rotated in various areas around Central FL and out of state. Look out for Blaq Soul Texas Artist “Snappa” to release his single under Blaq Soul Entertainment, not yet announced. How can an inspired artist come correct to be considered for your label? What qualities and characteristics would they have to possess?

Most important thing for us is the artist has to be “Open Mindedness”. We look for stage presence, difference, confidence, drive, motivation and the will to learn! If you come with that, we can work with you. hoW did the appearance on b.e.t.'s 106 n park come about and hoW do you feel the performance Went?

Alize actually was the one who emailed with the intension of no response. Smart if you ask me. Once they heard the music submitted via MySpace, they locked us in for an audition date. After nailing the auditions Tony Hood n’ Alize took the main stage a month later in April of 2008. The experience from how they put it was “A Dream Come True”. Win or Lose they kept their heads high understand that everyone won that day just by achieving national exposure. i Was at the performance With black dada at club envy When J. Wise performed. hoW did that take place and did that bring more eXposure to your label?

B.S.E. (J. Wise): The show came about through my TIO/DSM/FLMG Label via Goolie Entertainment. At the time I was negotiating with Blaq Soul Entertainment on some future plans of working together. That was my first time meeting Dada. So it surprised me when he informed me that he had already heard of me down in Miami. Doing a show in my eyes always means some type of exposure, so for the most part I will say yes it did. hoW can you be contacted outside of the office?

white boi pizal

When you think of Caucasians in the rap game your first thought may be Eminem or even go back to Vanilla Ice. Down here in the dirty south, West Orange County to be exact we know the first true white boy who did his thing was White Boi Pizal. He has been on the airways, in the streets, in the clubs, and just making noise all around the central Florida area since 1993 that’s seventeen long hard dedicated years. This was one white boy we knew held it down and the streets, the community, and the city embraced with open arms. After this long road he has a daughter and a family he provides for while still on the music scene he takes us back to his past, his future, and all the wild stuff that happened in-between. He might not be an industry nationally known white boy but he is definitely a legend around these parts and still holds it down till this day for the county, city and the whole sunshine state.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN DJING AND WHEN DID YOU KNOW IT WAS YOUR PASSION? Man… I been in the game 17 years I started out just recording songs off the radio and selling them for $5.00 back in high school back when mix tapes were on tapes. I always had a love for music as a small child and it just stuck. Being a white guy with a black swag I had to market it! Man I’ll have yall here forever!! WHAT HAPPENED TO THE UNDERGROUND STATIONS YOU USED TO DJ FOR HERE IN ORLANDO? All good things got to end sum times the FCC shut us down! However, we’ll be back real soon!! In meantime you can find me live on twilightzzoneundergroundradio. ning.com which is internet radio. WHAT OTHER BUSINESS VENTURES HAVE YOU BEEN GETTING INVOLVED WITH OTHER THAN DJING LATELY? Well as of right now I am the manager for DIRTY GEE the Florida gangsta and things starting to take off right now! S*** looking real good right now we got the new strip club anthem called A.T.M featuring Baby Lac bra you should see them girls shaking their booty to it! All I can say is wow! HOW DID YOU GET THE TITLE “MIXTAPE KING OF THE SOUTH” AND HAS ANYONE EVER CHALLENGED YOUR THRONE? I gave myself that title cause I was dropping cd’s like birds drop crap back to back and I been out the game for two years and still isn’t no one f***ing with what I done! Yeah, they doing mix tapes but not how I was doing I guess that why the R.I.A.A and the A.T.F busted me. SO WHAT HAPPENED WITH THAT? I was on the block selling cd’s and they did a sting on my a** came from everywhere I got hit with $25k in fines and $10k for my lawyer! Two years probation! Man… hurt my pockets, I just bought my house and two new cars then that s*** happened!! Nevertheless, I’m good now that I put it behind me you feel me.
