Hunger Games in Jackson Hole By Mike Calabrese Hunger games in Jackson Hole? Not really. Visitors and locals alike face enough challenges just trying to meet Mother Nature on all her terms and terrain. No sense tossing dining out into the search for a good time in our valley. A diverse complement of local eateries ensures every palette a place at the table. Living well and dining well are not just ideals. For those diners who demand that eating and good times be celebrated at a more leisurely pace, a fair portion of not-so-well-kept secret haunts guarantees full-course satisfaction. Some folks, though, pressed for time, want simply to grab a bagel, a sandwich, maybe just a dulce before bolting into the backcountry to hike, bike, climb, angle, or simply to ogle. So there’s also no shortage here of efficiently, well prepared meals-to-go or to grab on the run. “Food is an important part of a balanced diet,” notes author and wit Fran

Lebowitz. Some would add “balanced budget” to the aphorism. This is Jackson Hole after all. And many visitors—and locals—are here to get the most out of their time in mountain country.
