Brand book of OZO

Created by Lotte Ausmane, Una Dakne Daniels Šatalovs, Renārs Matvejs

Story of Ozo

OZO comes from Japan, where the company main focus was on rentable, nature-friendly and affordable bicycles and human-oriented services. Investors see a fantastic opportunity in Lavia and felt it is going to be a missed chance if they won’t make big steps toward the Latvian bike-sharing market. After sleepless nights and many discussions they came up with an idea for Energy Box called OZO.

Story of OZO

In Latvia, there are many rentable bicycle choices. To arrive here with impact and give much joy to its users, OZO offers the fantastic energy-saving device - OZO, which allows its users to collect the energy they produce in the gym. Later the energy can be used for extra free distance on OZO electric bicycles. To help users stay on track in the OZO app, users on their account can create their own OZO animal avatar. Avatar lets users see how much energy they have, as well as other statistics and their rank the in the saved energy among their friends. Avatar sends user notifications to keep in touch.

Ozo collaborates with many gyms in Riga. OZO energy boxes are available in the reception area of your local gym. Inside the gym users can find specially customized equipment for OZO box use.

We’ve got some history.

Jānis Ozoliņs himself.

Janis’ son – Mārtiņš.

After some success in operating a bike shop in Japan, Jānis Ozoliņs, the founding father of “Ozolinks”, made a decision to go back to his roots and return to the motherland. "But why so?" you may ask. The cyclist culture in Japan is already top tier. To Janis all of it lacked a bigger purpose. However in Latvia, the cyclist community was scattered. Moreover, Janis realised he's getting older and the shop may not have a future without a

trustworthy person to continue the legacy. Luckily for Janis, his son (who lived in Riga) also had a burning passion for cycling culture and wanted to be a part of his fathers work. Now Janis and his son work together side by side to create a family-like community, sharing experiences and stories, creating connections while fixing up trusty bicycles.

What do we do. (in technical terms) We offer purchasing, selling bicycle parts, fixing bicycles, consulting, providing a place and neccesary tools for the repair of a bicycle.

Our goal. Create an environment where customers feel free to repair and upgrade their bikes and become a part of a community.

Target audience. 01 Citizens of Riga, aged 17 to 48. 02 Own a bike, have the will to start cycling more or cycling is a daily routine. 03 Stable income, socially active and enjoy attending cultural, alternative events, occuring near the shop.

We value community, family, experience, emotions.

PREVIOUS LOGO

While the previous logo worked well in Japan, it was more than clear it won’t do well in Latvia. That is why the logo took a different form, combining streets, a robust feel, connections, while keeping the japanesse hieroglyphic-ish touch.

Not only did we change the look of the logo, but the name of our brand as well. “Ozolins” has flourished into “Ozolinks”, putting emphasis on the key element – connection.

Ideas. In order to create a harmonious place for our people to be, work and relax in, we sketched out ideas of how the workshop should and could look like, balancing work, purchase and relaxing area. We found a great location as it already is an epicentre of socializing, coming together due to the nearby clubs, locals and cafes.

Merchandise.

To somewhat raise brand awareness, we’ve created merchandise in various forms: t-shirts, pins, keychains, tote bags, mugs. We’re not going extra on advertising, but we feel this method is a great touch of showing you’re a part of a community and informing new people about the chance to be a part of it.
