Vlaamse Competitie: Animatie
No selection is as colorful, surprising or diverse as the Flemish Animation Competition. With boundless imagination, technical craft and an explosion of styles these twelve animation films challenge, move and surprise. Without a flood of words, they are able to convey emotions and tell stories in a unique and visual way.
Geen selectie zo kleurrijk, zo verrassend en zo verschillend als de Vlaamse animatiecompetitie. Met grenzeloze verbeelding, technisch meesterschap en een veelheid aan stijlen weten deze twaalf animatiefilms uit te dagen, te ontroeren en te verrassen. Vaak zonder veel woorden maar met veelzeggende beelden weten ze op een volstrekt unieke manier emoties over te brengen en verhalen te vertellen.

Een visser leeft eenzaam en alleen aan de kust van een opgedroogde oceaan. Hij zit vast in zijn verleden, tot een zandstorm hem overspoelt en nieuwe betekenis aan zijn leven geeft.

Nina worstelt met faalangst. Na een nachtmerrie over een presentatie wil ze niet naar school gaan. Gevoed door haar angsten belandt ze in een fantasiewereld waar ze deze leert te beheersen.

Een jonge, depressieve man stoot op iets uit zijn kindertijd: een spelconsole met een ingebouwd communicatiesysteem. Hij en zijn correspondent worden al snel beste vrienden. Hierdoor krijgt Nyo terug wat kleur in zijn leven, maar dat blijft niet duren.

Broer en zus spelen samen met hun moeder in de tuin. Fantasierijk als ze zijn nemen ze allerlei rollen van helden en monsters aan. De sfeer wordt echter verpest wanneer de jongen een magisch meisje wil spelen, maar de moeder dit niet accepteert.

Bovenop een berg luistert een reus elke dag naar de gedachten en conversaties van andere mensen. Hier wordt hij eenzaam van en de hoeveelheid aan stemmen zorgt er geleidelijk aan voor dat het hem te veel wordt.

Een klein meisje probeert haar eigen weg te zoeken terwijl ze te kampen heeft met een dominante moeder die alles voor haar beslist. Het conflict wordt weergegeven door een spel dat losjes gebaseerd is op ‘Levensweg’.

Grootmoeder moet eten maken voor haar gigantische familie. Dit is zo veel werk, dat ze letterlijk extra handen nodig heeft. Terwijl alles misloopt in de keuken, raakt ze zo gestresseerd dat ze verandert in een monster.

Little Ox

A young musk ox moves across the icy tundra plain with his herd. During their journey, the herd is followed by a pack of wolves who have their eye set on the little ox. He finds it hard to grasp the rules, much to his mother’s frustration.
Een jonge muskusos trekt met zijn kudde over de ijzige toendravlakte. Tijdens hun reis wordt de kudde gevolgd door een roedel wolven, die de kleine os meteen in het vizier krijgen. Voor de kleine os is het moeilijk om de regels te doorgronden, tot moeders frustratie.
