However, in recent years, whispers of declining tourism in the state have grown louder, fueling debates among stakeholders, media, and influencers. Everyone has a perspective, and often, these discussions devolve into a blame game that serves no real purpose Instead of pointing fingers, we need to ask ourselves: what can we, as individuals and as a community, do to preserve and elevate Goa’s tourism sector?
Goa’s tourism decline, if it indeed exists, is not the result of a s i n g l e c a u s e R a p i d urbanization, unplanned development, environmental degradation, and a lack of innovative marketing strategies have all contributed Yet, playing the blame game or whitewashing the issue will not help. As concerns over respiratory i n f e c t i o n s l i k e H u m a n Metapneumovirus (HMPV) rise, Manipal Hospital in Goa has introduced a cutting-edge diagnostic solution that promises to transform the landscape of virus detection. Using the Biofire multiplex PCR platform, the hospital now offers rapid testing
for 27 pathogens, including major viruses such as COVID-19 and Influenza A/B This advanced system delivers results in as little as one hour, enabling faster diagnoses and more informed treatment decisions. Operating 24/7, the facility ensures that critical testing is always available, providing a vital service to the community.
However, this fast turnaround comes with a cost. The test is priced at 18,000, a reflection of the high-quality reagents and technology involved in the process. Despite the expense, the p l a t f o r m ' s a b i l i t y t o simultaneously identify multiple pathogens allows healthcare providers to make quicker, more accurate decisions, reducing the need for unnecessary antibiotic use and ultimately helping to curb overprescription.
HMPV, which shares symptoms with influenza, is one of the key viruses tested by this platform. Though it can cause discomfort, treatment for HMPV remains largely symptomatic. Medical professionals emphasize that antibiotics are not required unless a s e c o n d a r y i n f e c t i o n i s identified It is particularly important for children, elderly patients, and individuals with underlying conditions to seek
timely care.
With the medical community closely monitoring the spread of HMPV, the introduction of such advanced diagnostic technology in Goa comes at a crucial time. By offering rapid and accurate pathogen identification, Manipal H o s p i t a l i s c o n t r i b u t i n g significantly to the state's ability to manage respiratory infections effectively, ensuring both swift treatment and a proactive approach to public health
STAYING SAFE FROM HMPV: HOW COVID-19 AND FLU VACCINES OFFER PROTECTION
Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) may not be a household name, but its presence in India has raised concerns, especially after two cases were recently reported in Bengaluru. The infants, diagnosed with HMPV, are recovering, and health experts are assuring the public that there's no need to panic. The Union Health Ministry is
actively monitoring the situation, and preventive measures are being emphasized to keep the spread in check.
HMPV is a respiratory virus similar to RSV and influenza, causing symptoms like fever, cough, and nasal congestion. Although there is no specific vaccine for HMPV yet, experts are reassuring the
public that those vaccinated against COVID-19 and influenza have a certain level of protection.
Surgical oncologist Dr. Vishal Rao from Bengaluru's HCG Hospital explained that since HMPV spreads primarily through respiratory droplets, individuals who have received the flu and COVID-19 vaccines are better equipped to fight the virus. Preventive measures such as wearing masks in crowded areas, practicing hand hygiene, and avoiding close contact with sick individuals remain crucial. Health authorities also stress the importance of seeking medical care if symptoms worsen.
The global situation, especially in countries like China, has sparked vigilance, with the World Health Organization (WHO) monitoring the rise in respiratory infections, particularly among children India's health infrastructure is prepared for any potential increase in cases, having
conducted drills to test readiness. For now, there is no need to be alarmed, but staying informed, adhering to safety measures, and m a i n t a i n i n g u p - t o - d a t e vaccinations will go a long way in protecting public health With vigilance and precaution, HMPV can be managed effectively without widespread concern.

Ganesh Narvekar’s Voyage from Passion to Legacy C H A R T I N G NEW WATERS
Ganesh has worked tirelessly to carve out his own identity, driven by determination and an unwavering commitment to excel. Today, he stands tall as a successful entrepreneur, a skilled sportsman, and an influential figure. But this success didn’t come without its share of struggles. His journey has been one of resilience, passion, and hard work, showcasing that privilege alone doesn’t define accomplishments—it’s the effort and dedication that truly matter.
Being born with a silver spoon often comes with its own set of privileges, o p e n i n g d o o r s t o n u m e r o u s opportunities. However, it also brings a unique set of challenges. The weight of expectations, the constant scrutiny of the media, and the need to prove oneself can often make the path to success even more demanding. This reality has been no different for Ganesh Narvekar, son of Shri Dayanand Narvekar a prominent politician and former cabinet minister.
In this exclusive feature, we delve into Ganesh Narvekar’s inspiring journey, exploring how h e o v e r c a m e challenges, rose above expectations, and built his legacy. Join us as we unravel the story of a m a n w h o t u r n e d o p p o r t u n i t i e s i n t o achievements, proving that determination knows no bounds. Sit back and enjoy this incredible tale of ambition and success.
Ganesh Narvekar’s journey began at one of Goa’s most prestigious educational institutions, where he discovered his deeprooted passion for sports. Reflecting on his early days, Ganesh shared, “I developed a very close interest in sports from a young age. Being born with privilege has its pros and cons, but sports always kept me grounded.” He further explained the unifying nature of sports: “When we play as a team, there is no distinction between rich or poor—that’s the beauty of the game. It keeps us connected and grounded.”
When asked about his foray into cricket, Ganesh recounted a story that highlighted the serendipity of his journey. “During a family vacation when I was very young, my father noticed something unique about the way I threw the ball. He pointed out that it spun naturally, something I was completely unaware of at the time. Recognizing my potential, he encouraged me to pursue cricket and join coaching to hone my skills,” he revealed. Ganesh entered the world of cricket at the tender age of five, guided by his father’s intuition and encouragement. “I believe I had a
natural inclination towards the sport, but it was my father who recognized it early and set me on the right path. Without his guidance, I might not have realized my potential,” he added. Ganesh Narvekar’s cricketing journey began under the mentorship of Coach Nitin Vernekar, a renowned trainer who has shaped the careers of notable players like Swapnil Asnodkar and Saurabh Bandekar, both of whom went on to represent India Under-19 and play in the IPL. “I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have trained under him and played alongside such talented individuals,” Ganesh shared. Reflecting on the nature of the sport, he remarked, “In cricket, nothing matters except your performance. Once you’re on the field, you’re on your own. Talent and hard work are the only things that can carry you through. There’s no silver spoon here.”
For Ganesh, cricket is more than a game—it’s a life lesson “Cricket has been the most significant part of my life. It has kept me grounded and instilled in me the true value of discipline,” he said.
Recounting his entry into the junior state cricket team, Ganesh highlighted a moment of immense pride that remains unmatched. “I performed exceptionally well in Junior Cricket,
both under-13 and u n d e r - 1 5 , a n d eventually earned the opportunity to play in the Ranji Trophy. It was a dream come true,” he said. His debut match at just 18 years old was a g a i n s t t h e Maharashtra team a milestone moment in his career However, it w a s n ’ t w i t h o u t i t s challenges. “I struggled in the first innings and faced criticism from the media, but setbacks are part of the game. What matters is how you bounce back.”
G a n e s h ’ s d e f i n i n g moment came in the final hours of the match. “The game seemed destined for a draw, with only a couple of hours left. Then, the ball was handed to me. It was my chance to turn things around,” he recalled. What followed was nothing short of remarkable. In just half an hour, he took five wickets in ten overs, single-handedly sealing the game “That moment was unforgettable. I became the only Goan to take five wickets on a Ranji debut.”
Ganesh’s journey from a promising young player to achieving a record-breaking feat is a testament to his grit, talent, and the values instilled by cricket. His story is an inspiring reminder that success is earned through persistence and determination. From those humble beginnings, Ganesh’s journey in sports laid the foundation for the discipline, teamwork, and determination that have defined his achievements today.
After proving himself on the cricket field, Ganesh Narvekar decided to channel his focus toward the business world. “I played a few more games after my Ranji debut, but my interest gradually shifted toward business,” Ganesh shared. He recalled how an untapped opportunity led to his venture into the world of yachts. “My father had invested in a piece of land and a private jetty, which had been lying unused for quite some time. He also owned a yacht purchased for personal use, but it wasn’t being utilized. Given the high maintenance costs of yachts, I saw an opportunity to transform it from a personal asset into a business venture.”
G a n e s h ’ s i n n o v a t i v e
a p p r o a c h m a r k e d t h e beginning of something new.
“The concept of hiring out yachts was non-existent in the state back then. We were the first to introduce this idea, and as demand grew, we gradually expanded our fleet. The rest, as they say, is history,” he said.
In 2002, The Yacht Club Goa was launched, becoming a pioneer in luxury yacht experiences in the state, well before it became a rising trend. “We’re proud to be the first to establish this business and also to operate the first private jetty in Goa,” Ganesh remarked. In addition to luxury yacht rentals, they also provide docking facilities for private yacht owners who lack their own jetties.
Ganesh admitted that the initial phase wasn’t without challenges. “The business was slow at first, but as Goa’s tourism sector flourished, so did the demand for yacht services. Today, we’re proud of how far we’ve come, and we ’ re preparing to add another fleet of yachts to meet the growing demand.”
Ganesh’s journey from sports to business exemplifies his knack for identifying opportunities and transforming them into thriving ventures. His visionary approach has not only redefined leisure experiences in Goa but also established The Yacht Club Goa as a trailblazer in the industry.
Managing a yacht business comes with its unique set of challenges, and Ganesh Narvekar has faced them head-on “The biggest challenge is the heavy maintenance costs,” he shared. “We’ve learned over time that the upkeep of yachts is no small task. After every trip, we need to thoroughly clean the yacht, ensuring no traces of food or drinks are left behind. Rats breeding in the sea are always looking for a way in, and if they manage to get inside, they don’t just go after leftover food—they damage electrical wires and other vital components.”
Ganesh explained that the maintenance extends beyond the interiors. “The engine and other parts exposed to saltwater require constant attention. Over time, we’ve made this part of our routine and now have a dedicated team to handle these tasks.”
Ganesh also credited his mother as an
integral part of the business. “She dedicates a significant amount of her time to the operations and administration. I owe much of our success to her. She’s been a strong support system,” he said, expressing his gratitude. “It feels wonderful to run a family business with such close collaboration. While I manage the tech and marketing side, which aligns with my generation’s strengths, she handles the operational backbone of the business.”
Reflecting on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, Ganesh acknowledged the challenges they faced. “We had to let go of some additional manpower during that period, but our core team remained integral to the business. Even without any income during the pandemic, we ensured they were taken care of. We knew the business would bounce back one day, and their loyalty deserved our support,” he said. Once the pandemic restrictions eased, Ganesh saw an unprecedented surge in business. “After COVID, Goa became the goto destination for everyone. The demand multiplied, and our business doubled in no time,” he shared He emphasized the
importance of resilience in tough times “One should never panic or give up during difficult phases These are testing times that shape you. Tough people last; tough times don’t.”
G a n e s h ’ s a p p r o a c h t o overcoming challenges and his unwavering commitment to his team and family make The Yacht Club Goa a shining example of innovation, resilience, and success in the luxury hospitality space.

Narvekar made significant strides in inclusivity and accessibility at The Yacht Club Goa. He extended the jetty and introduced a ramp to ensure easy access for wheelchair users “We are also pet-friendly, and guests are welcome to bring their pets on board,” he added, showcasing his commitment to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment.
Beyond his business ventures, Ganesh’s journey as an influencer has been equally inspiring. Once renowned as a star cricketer with around 2 0 , 0 0 0 f o l l o w e r s , h i s transition to the world of sneaker culture marked a turning point. “After I left cricket, I developed a hobby of reviving sneakers Being a sports enthusiast, I’ve always admired sports icons, especially Michael Jordan, the greatest basketball player, who represented Nike with his signature Air Jordan brand,” he shared.
Ganesh recounted how he found inspiration in the storytelling behind the Air Jordan brand. “Nike sold sneakers worn by Michael Jordan during games, each with its own story. That sparked an idea for me. I started posting about sneakers from various brands, including Adidas, and back then, not many people were doing this. It attracted a lot of attention and followers.”
Realizing the potential of this niche, Ganesh leaned into it, sharing more stories that reflected his love for sports and sneakers. “It was something deeply personal to me, and I wanted to share that passion with others. During and post-COVID, social media e m e r g e d a s a m a j o r p l a t f o r m f o r communication, and the term ‘influencer’ became more recognized.”
While Ganesh remains deeply invested in his business, sports continue to hold a special

Criticism is part of the journey. The same critics might one day become your biggest supporters,” he said with a smile. Ganesh Narvekar’s story is a testament to adaptability, passion, and resilience, seamlessly blending business, sports, and social influence into an inspiring narrative of success.
right thing to do ” Ganesh emphasized that passion fuels excellence “When you do what you love, you naturally strive to excel. And remember, there’s no substitute for hard work.”
Ganesh also spoke a b o u t h a n d l i n g criticism in the age of social media. “Don’t s h y a w a y f r o m criticism—it’s part and parcel of the social media world. People will criticize you, but if you stop posting, it’s your loss. Keep doing the good work, and eventually, even your critics may turn into your followers,” he said.
When it comes to competition in the yacht business, Ganesh Narvekar believes that the key lies in delivering unparalleled service “Providing a luxury experience for each of our customers is our top priority,” he shared. “Our team is well-trained, humble, and skilled in communicating with our valued clients. We put a strong emphasis on creating a memorable hospitality experience.”
Ganesh highlighted the importance of curating unique experiences that go beyond the vessel itself. “The yacht may remain the same, and there are many options available options, but what truly sets us apart is the experience on board. That’s what matters most,” he said.
The Yacht Club Goa specializes in blending
luxury with exceptional service, creating moments that clients cherish “We curate bespoke experiences for our clients, and that is where our expertise lies—luxury paired with extraordinary moments,” Ganesh emphasized. The proof of their commitment to excellence lies in customer feedback. “We have a 4.9-star rating on Google, which is among the highest in our segment. For us, it’s not always about the money—it’s about the experience we provide. That’s what stays with our clients and keeps them coming back,” he concluded with pride. Ganesh’s dedication to quality service and customer satisfaction has made The Yacht Club Goa a standout name in the luxury yacht business, setting new benchmarks for the industry.
When asked for advice for young individuals aspiring to balance their passion with entrepreneurship, Ganesh Narvekar had inspiring words to share. “You must follow your passion and do what makes you happy,” he said. “Don’t let societal expectations or others’ opinions dictate your choices. It’s possible that following your passion may not make you a lot of money initially, but that doesn’t matter. If what you’re doing brings you joy, then it’s the
G a n e s h v i e w s c r i t i c i s m a s a motivator rather than a setback. “Criticism is good—it pushes you to improve Use the negativity as fuel for your success If life becomes too easy and everything goes smoothly, stagnation sets in, and you stop striving for more. Challenges are essential for growth.”
Looking ahead, Ganesh is excited about his future plans, particularly in the yacht business. “We’re bringing one of the largest luxury yachts to Goa in the coming months. It’s a state-ofthe-art vessel that will be unveiled this March. There’s currently nothing like it in Goa,” he revealed.
This new addition will cater to private cruises and exclusive events, such as weekend sundowner parties, with a capacity to host up to 35 guests. “It’s going to redefine the luxury experience in Goa,” he added.
On the social media front, Ganesh hinted at exciting collaborations in the pipeline. “I have several partnerships and projects lined up in the coming days, and I’m looking forward to sharing them soon, ” he said, exuding enthusiasm for what lies ahead.
Ganesh’s journey is a testament to how passion, perseverance, and a relentless drive for excellence can lead to success in both business and life.

LOKOTSAV GOA 2025 Celebrating the Heartbeat of India
By Seeja Prabhu
The vibrant shores of Goa have long been a melting pot of diverse cultures, and in January 2025, the coastal state once again witnessed the grand spectacle that seamlessly fuses tradition with contemporary vibrancy: the 24th edition of Lokotsav Goa. Hosted annually by the Directorate of Art & Culture, Government of Goa, in collaboration with the West Zone Cultural Centre, Udaipur, Kala Academy, and the Corporation of the City of Panaji, Lokotsav 2025 became a platform for the celebration of India's rich cultural heritage.
Held at the picturesque Darya Sangam, Kala Academy, from January 17th to 26th, this festival was a resplendent affair that captivated not only the hearts of locals but also those of cultural connoisseurs and tourists from around the globe.
A Cultural Mélange Unveiled
Lokotsav Goa is no ordinary folk festival—it is a cultural extravaganza that celebrates the myriad traditions, crafts, music, and dance forms from across the country. This year’s festival, which spanned a dazzling ten days, brought together over 600 folk artists and more than 1,000 craftspersons from 20 Indian states, creating an unparalleled sensory experience.
The evening air at Darya Sangam echoed with the enchanting sounds of classical folk music and rhythmic beats of drum ensembles, as regional artists performed age-old dances like
Bhavai from Gujarat, Garba from Rajasthan, and the mesmerizing Thangtu of Manipur. Notably, Goan dances such as the joyous Dekhni and the soulful Mando blended s e
performances, reminding us of the importance of maintaining regional identities amidst the tide of globalization.
A Showcase of Artistry and Craft
Beyond the performances, the festival also placed a significant spotlight on India’s artisanal wealth. Around 550 stalls exhibited a dazzling array of handicrafts from across the nation, each one more captivating than the last. The streets of Darya Sangam were transformed into a vibrant marketplace, where visitors could explore an astonishing variety of art forms—each stall a story of tradition and technique Local Goan artisans proudly displayed their exquisite coconut shell carvings, clay pottery, and intricate bamboo crafts, while artisans from other states brought their unique creations Kashmiri shawls, Bengal’s signature shola work, and the famous Phulkari textiles from Punjab.
For those with an eye for intricate metalwork, the stalls overflowed with brass and copper lamps, utensils, and ornamental decor. Silver filigree jewelry from Odisha dazzled visitors with its delicate patterns, while the robust elegance of rosewood furniture captivated admirers. The handcrafted jewelry made from
seashells evoked the coastal charm of Goa, blending effortlessly with the multitude of regional crafts on display.
Gastronomy: A Culinary Journey Through India
Lokotsav Goa 2025 was not just a feast for the eyes but also for the senses, as the festival offered an immersive culinary journey through India’s gastronomic landscape. From the spicy and tangy flavors of Goan Fish Curry and Pork Vindaloo to the delicate sweetness of Bebinca, the food stalls served an impeccable assortment of traditional Goan fare.
Simultaneously, stalls from Rajasthan, West Bengal, Kerala, and Karnataka offered regional delicacies that added layers of flavor to the event. Every bite at Lokotsav seemed to tell a story of the region it came from. It was an extraordinary opportunity for visitors to savor the authentic tastes of India, right in the heart of Goa.
The Spirit of Cultural Preservation
The success of Lokotsav Goa 2025 was not just measured in terms of its footfall or the spectacle it created but also in its deeper cultural significance. In a world increasingly dominated by the forces of modernity and globalization, festivals like Lokotsav serve as a crucial reminder of the importance of preserving cultural heritage. Minister for Art and Culture, Shri Govind Gaude, eloquently emphasized this during his address, noting,
“Lokotsav is the perfect platform for artisans to showcase and sell their crafts, and its popularity has been growing each year.” This sentiment echoed across the entire festival, where artisans and performers were not just participants; they were custodians of centuries-old traditions that, in today’s rapidly changing world, are at risk of being forgotten. The presence of tribal artisans and the highlight of workshops such as the Molela terracotta art workshop underscored the need to sustain these crafts Visitors were treated to live demonstrations, where they could watch artisans at work, from the delicate art of weaving to the precision required in pottery. Such interactive experiences allowed attendees to connect with the process and learn more about the significance of these art forms.
The Enchanting Ambience
What truly set Lokotsav Goa 2025 apart, however, was its ambiance.
The venue—Kala Academy, a cultural landmark in Goa—was transformed into a vibrant stage for India’s cultural diversity. The theme of the festival was visually articulated in every corner, from the intricately designed stage to the ambient lighting that set the perfect mood for the evening
performances. The festival’s ability to marry tradition with modernity was evident not only in the performances but in the overall design and execution, offering visitors a multi-sensory feast that delighted every sense.
A Timeless Legacy
As the 24th edition of Lokotsav Goa drew to a close, one couldn’t help but reflect on the
goals—celebrating, preserving, and promoting
India’s folk traditions. The festival not only brought the country’s diverse cultures to Goa but also provided an invaluable platform for artisans and performers to showcase their artistry to an appreciative audience. It proved that the importance of such cultural c e l e b r a t i o n s g o e s f a r b e y o n d entertainment—it lies in the preservation of identity, the sharing of stories, and the creation of a community that honors its roots.
BIMA SAKHI YOJANA
A Bold Step Toward Women's Empowerment in Goa
By Seeja Prabhu
In a significant move towards empowering w o m e n a n d p r o m o t i n g f i n a n c i a l independence, the Government of Goa, led by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, recently launched the “Bima Sakhi Yojana.” This initiative, a collaboration between the state
government and the L i f e I n s u r a n c e Corporation of India (LIC), aims to uplift women across India by providing them with
sufficient.
A Vision for Financial Inclusion
The Bima Sakhi Yojana is part of the Central Government’s broader v i s i o n t o e n s u r e “insurance for all,” a goal championed by P r i m e M i n i s t e r Narendra Modi. After its successful pilot in Haryana, Goa became the second state to implement the scheme, marking a pivotal moment in the state's journey towards achieving financial inclusion for women.
Launched in December 2024, the initiative is designed to empower women aged 18 to 70 who have completed at least their Class 10
education. The focus is on providing women with the opportunity to become LIC insurance agents, thus enabling them to build a career while contributing to the nation’s goal of achieving universal insurance coverage. Through this scheme, the government intends to recruit a total of 200,000 women agents over the next three years, equipping them with essential skills and knowledge to serve as financial advisors and bring about a positive change in their communities.
Chief Minister’s Contribution and Vision Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s leadership h a s b e e n p i v o t a l i n b r i n g i n g t h i s transformative program to Goa. During the launch event, Shri Pramod Sawant emphasized the importance of women ’ s participation in economic activities, noting that Bima Sakhi Yojana would create a ripple effect, empowering women not just financially, but also socially. He articulated that the government’s commitment to ensuring insurance for all is in perfect alignment with its vision for a self-reliant and prosperous India by 2047.
Sawant pointed out that the program is particularly beneficial for rural women, offering them a platform to engage with the financial sector, which traditionally has had limited access in rural areas. By expanding insurance awareness and creating
opportunities for women to become financially independent, the scheme aims to bridge economic divides and enable women to achieve economic stability and security.
F i n a n c i a l A s s i s t a n c e a n d C a r e e r Opportunities the Scheme Provides One of the most attractive aspects of the Bima
Sakhi Yojana is the financial support it offers to participants. Women who become part of this initiative will undergo training and receive a monthly stipend for the first three years. In the first year, agents will receive Rs 7,000 per month, followed by Rs 6,000 in the second year, and Rs 5,000 in the third year. This
stipend not only ensures financial support as they learn the ropes of the insurance business but also serves as an incentive to continue their involvement in the program.
In addition to the stipend, agents who successfully sell 24 life insurance policies will earn a commission of Rs 48,000 As the program progresses, women who excel in their work will have the opportunity to qualify for higher positions within LIC, including roles as development officers, which will further bolster their career trajectories.
Personal Stories of Empowerment
The Bima Sakhi Yojana is already beginning to make a significant impact, with many women from Goa sharing how the initiative has transformed their lives One such woman, Gauri Suresh Naik, a student from Merces village, expressed her gratitude for the scheme As a young student juggling her education and personal expenses, Gauri found it challenging to manage financially. However, through the Bima Sakhi Yojana, she found a means of passive income that supports her education and other personal needs “This initiative has given me the financial freedom to focus on my studies and has boosted my confidence,” Gauri shared. Sulbha Dattatray Karpe, from Banastarim village, another early participant, views the scheme as a promising part-time job that offers substantial benefits. Sulbha encouraged other women to join the program, highlighting the dual advantages of earning a stipend while receiving commissions on the
sale of insurance policies. For Sulbha, the program represents not only an opportunity to enhance her income but also a chance to become an independent, financially empowered woman.
A L o n g - T e r m C o m m i t m e n t t o Empowerment
The Goa government, under CM Pramod Sawant’s leadership, aims to recruit at least 1,000 “Bima Sakhis” in the state in the coming months. The initiative is part of the larger Swayampurna Goa 2 0 program, which focuses on making women self-reliant and
T h e government has also extended its support
t h r o u g h t h e R u r a l Livelihood Mission, w h i c h p r o v i d e s financial assistance of up to Rs 20 lakh to women ’ s Self-Help Groups, enabling them to undertake selfemployment ventures. At the launch of the s c h e m e , S a w a n t addressed a gathering of over 1,000 women from various Self-Help Groups, urging them to make the most of this opportunity.
A
Step
Towards Financial Literacy and Inclusion
In addition to its financial benefits, the Bima Sakhi Yojana is also a key component of the government’s efforts to enhance financial literacy, particularly among women in rural areas. By encouraging women to become insurance agents, the scheme helps raise awareness about the importance of life insurance and ensures that more individuals, particularly in underserved communities, have
access to crucial financial products. Through this initiative, the government aims to address the gap in life insurance penetration at the grassroots level. As Bima Sakhis spread awareness and educate others about the benefits of life insurance, they will also gain valuable skills in financial planning, customer service, and entrepreneurship.
Conclusion
The Bima Sakhi Yojana is more than just a government initiative; it is a transformative program that brings women into the mainstream financial sector, offering them the tools to build a secure and prosperous future. With continued success, the Bima Sakhi Yojana promises to be a key driver of women ’ s empowerment and financial inclusion in Goa and beyond.

An Artist, Innovator, and Trailblazer in the World of
Drag
By Seeja Prabhu
In a world still struggling with prejudices of caste and gender, Mr. Sandeep Mangwana's story is nothing short of extraordinary. A queer Dalit man from a financially struggling family, his life journey is a testament to resilience, creativity, and the power of selfempowerment Today, Mr Mangwana is a celebrated drag a r t i s t , p e r f o r m e r , a n d a pioneering force in Goa's burgeoning drag scene. His story not only sheds light on the battles f a c e d b y m a r g i n a l i z e d communities but also speaks to the transformative power of art, passion, and authenticity.
A C h i l d h o o d S h a p e d b y Struggles and Privileges
Born into a Dalit family in Mumbai, Mr. Mangwana's childhood was a complex blend of privilege and hardship. As the only son among seven children in a family that worked as sewer cleaners and garbage collectors, he was both pampered and burdened by societal expectations. His family's biases rooted in caste meant that despite excelling academically and in extracurricular activities, he was continually reminded of his place in a world that saw him as lesser.
Moreover, his family, deeply influenced by societal norms, saw his artistic interests as mere hobbies rather than legitimate aspirations.
Breaking the Chains: The Struggle for Identity and Expression
Education played a pivotal role in shaping Mr Mangwana's early life, but it was also the source of
significant tension While he received an English-medium education providing him with certain privileges—his path was far from smooth His family, especially concerned about his future and social status, discouraged his dreams of becoming a fashion designer, fearing it would make him "gay" (a label he had already internalized). Instead, he was pushed into pursuing hospitality. Which lead to certain unpleasant experiences, urging Mr Mangwana to drop out midway.
However, Mr. Mangwana’s resilience shone through Determined to pursue his true passion, he saved money by working in the Bollywood industry and enrolled in a short course at NIFT to study fashion design—proving that no amount of discouragement could stop his drive to create.
From Bollywood to Drag: A Journey of SelfDiscovery
For Mr. Mangwana, artistic expression has always been a way to cope with and transcend adversity. A natural creative spirit, he fondly recalls how, at the age of 16, he joined the Sumit Nagdev Dance and Arts Foundation, beginning his dance career. This was just the start. Soon after, he found himself working with Bollywood legends like A.R. Rahman and Toby Fernandes, performing on major platforms such as “Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa” and more.
Yet, it was in Goa that Mr. Mangwana found his true calling. "Goa has always been my second home. The nature, the slower pace of life, the sense of peace—it allowed me to reconnect with myself," he shares.
The Power of Goa: A New Beginning and Home for Drag
Mr Mangwana’s connection to Goa runs deep, having visited the coastal paradise since the age of 16. The appeal of Goa’s natural beauty, combined with its laid-back,
peaceful atmosphere, was a balm to his weary soul after years of personal turmoil in Mumbai. “Goa became my sanctuary. After a toxic relationship and the loss of my mother, I needed a place where I could breathe, heal, and rediscover myself. Goa gave me that,” he expresses.
It was in Goa that Mr. Mangwana, under his drag persona “Sandy SalAura,” began to carve out a space for drag as both a personal and professional endeavor. In the tranquility of Goa's beaches and vibrant cultural milieu, he found not only his artistic purpose but also a community that embraced his authenticity.
Today, Mr. Mangwana has become a central figure in Goa's drag scene, performing across India and abroad while simultaneously fostering the local community of drag artists. His performances in venues like “The Spotlight Monologues” in Goa and the “Lalaland Festival” in Amsterdam have brought international attention to Goa as a hub for drag artistry. Through his work, Goa has not only served as a nurturing ground for his personal growth but also as the canvas where his artistic contributions continue to make waves.
A Pioneering Force: Changing Goa’s Cultural Fabric
Mr. Mangwana’s efforts in bringing drag to Goa’s mainstream venues have been transformative. Beyond performing, he has worked tirelessly to establish professional spaces for drag artists—creating opportunities for those who, like him, have faced social marginalization. His work has helped elevate Goa as a culturally significant location for drag, attracting a new generation of artists eager to explore the art form.
Challenges and Triumphs: Embracing One’s Uniqueness
Mr. Mangwana’s success hasn’t come without
its fair share of obstacles. As a queer Dalit individual, his life has been a constant battle against both caste-based discrimination and homophobia “Growing up, I was always reminded that I didn’t belong to the right caste, the right background,” he reflects. “But I knew my worth. I knew I had to stay true to who I am, no matter what.”
His advice to queer individuals and artists who aspire to live authentically is simple: “Surround yourself with healthy, inspiring people. Work relentlessly on your craft, be assertive about your uniqueness, and don’t fear being different. That’s where true growth happens.”
A Vision for the Future: Creating Spaces for Drag Artists
Looking ahead, Mr. Mangwana envisions a future where drag artistry is respected and valued as an essential part of the cultural fabric, especially in Goa. He aspires to build spaces that not only showcase drag performances but also provide professional opportunities for drag artists through workshops, performances, and educational initiatives. His dream is to elevate drag to a level where it is seen as a legitimate career path, capable of providing both economic stability and personal fulfillment for queer individuals.
“I want to create productions that are meaningful, professional, and high-quality. It’s important to show that drag is not just about performing but about crafting stories that matter,” he says.
Conclusion: Living Authentically
Mr. Mangwana’s story is a powerful reminder of the life-changing impact of embracing one’s true self. As he continues to lead and inspire within the drag community, Mr Mangwana shows us all that the key to real success is to stay true to who we are and to honor the uniqueness within us.

From his early days learning music in a small village to his current role as a mentor, Mr. Braganza’s story is a powerful testament to the transformative power of music.
y
Background
Born on June 23rd, 1930, during t h e P o r t u g u e s e e r a , M r . Braganza’s formative years were steeped in the rich cultural fabric of Goa. Raised in a modest family, he was introduced to music at an early age through his tutors, Mr. Jose Caitan Fernandes and Mr. Varela Caiado. He began with the violin before adding the alto saxophone to his repertoire.
“I learned music from well-known tutors in the village, Mr Jose Caitan Fernandes and Mr. Varela Caiado,” Mr. Braganza reflects. His educational journey continued
completing his secondary education, he worked at the Directorate of Health Services in Panjim.
The Spark of Musical Passion
Mr Braganza's musical journey began in the heart of his community, where music played an integral part of village life. Inspired by the musicians in his village and the strong presence of music in local churches, he first learned music at the church’s
music school, a common practice during the Portuguese era “The church during the Portuguese era had music schools set up in churches all over Goa, where the village children learned music,” he explains. He soon transitioned from student to teacher, imparting his knowledge at the very church school where he had learned. “I too taught at the church music school,” he shares.
Mastering Three Instruments
What distinguishes Mr. Braganza is his remarkable ability to master multiple instruments. While most musicians focus on a single instrument, he has excelled at the violin, trumpet, and saxophone. “My teacher taught me the right way—first, solfeggio, everything else later,” Mr. Braganza explains. Solfeggio is a method of sight-singing and understanding musical intervals.
He continues, “I learned the art of singing any song in the solfeggio way. He taught me to play the violin and later handed over to me the trumpet and saxophone.”
Challenges of a Young Musician
Like any great musician, Mr. Braganza faced his share of challenges. His early years were marked by a balancing act between work, music, and agriculture. “I was multitasking with work, band, and of course, agriculture,” he recalls. He would wake up at 6 a.m. to work in the fields, attend his office job, and then perform with his band in the evening. “I commuted on my bicycle with my saxophone or the violin,” he recalls. His dedication to his craft meant that he often worked late into the night, especially during weddings. “Weddings in Goa started at 6 in the evening and the celebration went up to 4 a.m. We, the band, played continuously,” he says.
Teaching Journey: A Lifelong Dedication Mr Braganza's love for teaching became
evident early in his career He began his teaching journey at the church music school in his village, Merces, and later at the Santa Cecilia Music School in Panjim. His role as a teacher became an extension of his passion, and he later passed on his knowledge to his grandchildren and countless students across Goa.
“My teaching journey began in the church and later expanded to many students from all over Goa,” he recalls. He finds immense joy in seeing his students grow and develop their musical skills.
A Lifelong Passion: Continuing to Teach at 94
Mr. Braganza’s source of motivation lies in the joy he feels when his students progress. “Every time my students move to a new level of skill, the next lesson, the next book, it gives me a feeling of immense satisfaction,” he shares. It is this sense of fulfillment that keeps him going, even at his advanced age. “I feel happy. And it is this feeling that keeps me going,” he adds.
Imparting Wisdom: Lessons for the Next Generation
As a seasoned educator, Mr Braganza emphasizes the importance of foundational skills. “Musically, it is solfeggio that I really focus on,” he says. “I want my students to be good at singing first and instrumentalists later, to be good at timing and intonation, in simple words, ‘To play in Time and in Tune.’”
When it comes to life lessons, his advice is simple but profound: “Just be good humans.”
Mr. Braganza’s philosophy extends beyond music and into how one leads their life.
Honors and Recognition
Mr. Braganza’s long and illustrious career has earned him numerous accolades and recognition. Among the most significant are the “Lifetime Achievement Award” by the Tiatr
Academy of Goa and the “Kala Gaurav Puraskar” by the Directorate of Art and Culture, Government of Goa. “I have been honored by various organizations, NGOs, politicians, and the Government of Goa,” he reflects. “I’m grateful for their recognition and appreciation.” These awards, he admits, hold a special place in his heart, as they symbolize the respect and admiration for his contributions to Goan music.
A Message for Aspiring Musicians
To the next generation of musicians, Mr Braganza offers invaluable advice: “Learn, practice, keep learning, and keep practicing,” he urges. “Besides this, be good humans, do not cheat others, especially musicians. Money will come and go, but your reputation, once lost, takes a long time to come back.” His words echo the values that have guided his own life and career.
Final Thoughts
In closing, Mr Braganza expresses his gratitude to his readers and supporters. “To the readers, thank you for your time and patience, thank you for showing love towards musicians and reading this far,” he says. He urges people to respect and appreciate musicians: “Like any other profession, musicianship comes after a lot of sacrifice, learning, practice, discipline, a n d h a r d w o r k ” H i s m e s s a g e i s clear encourage young talent and appreciate the effort that goes into creating music.

Ms. Kerkar’s training at the Snaden Shawn Dance Academy further honed her skills and deepened her passion for dance. “Some of the biggest lessons I learned were about musicality, how to teach on counts, and the theory of dance,” she explains. “I also trained in various dance styles, including hip hop, freestyle, Bollywood, contemporary, semiclassical, and Latin dances like bachata, jive, and cha-cha.”
These lessons not only shaped her as a dancer but also as an instructor. Today, she proudly teaches over one thousand students and continues to receive new opportunities to teach at schools and other institutions.
Giving Back and Inspiring Others
Teaching over a thousand students is no small feat, but for Ms. Kerkar, it’s a testament to her belief in the transformative power of dance.
“I’m proud to teach so many people,” she says, “and I want others to know that despite the challenges they face, they can move forward and achieve their dreams.”
She believes strongly in the importance of resilience. “When people try to put you down, it’s crucial to rise above it and keep moving forward,” she advises. “There will always be people who mock you, but don’t let them stop you from following your dreams.”
Looking to the Future
As a successful dance teacher, Ms. Kerkar has ambitious plans for the future. “I want to see
myself as a successful dancer and dance teacher,” she shares, “and my ultimate goal is to open my own dance academy.” She dreams of creating a space where aspiring dancers can receive the same support and guidance that helped her along the way.
A Message of Hope and Empowerment
Ms. Kerkar’s story is a powerful reminder of resilience, courage, and the importance of believing in oneself. “My message to young people facing difficult circumstances is simple,” she emphasises: “Don’t give up hope. Her words are not just motivational; they are a beacon of hope for those who need encouragement to continue their journey, no matter the obstacles they face.

THE GEOPOLITICAL AND SOCIETAL DIMENSIONSOFESGINTHEMODERNWORLD
By IG TEAM
, Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors have become critical elements of sustainable business practices. However, the growing influence of geopolitics on ESG issues is a pressing concern that must be addressed to ensure a fair and sustainable global future.
A Tale of Two Worlds
One of the most significant challenges at the intersection of geopolitics and ESG concerns is the growing divide between the Global North and the Global South. This divide is not merely geographical but rooted in deep economic inequalities, historical
disproportionate environmental burdens.
The Global North, consisting of nations such as the United States, the United Kingdom, and the European Union, has benefited from decades of industrialization, driven by unfettered access to resources and fossil fuels. These nations have experienced significant economic growth, but the cost has been high in terms of environmental damage, with their industries being among the largest contributors to global carbon emissions.
I n c o n t r a s t , t h e G l o b a l South—countries like India, China, and many African nations—have
contributed only a small fraction of global emissions. Yet, they bear the brunt of climate change's most devastating impacts, such as rising sea levels, extreme weather patterns, and dwindling resources. Despite their minimal contribution to global emissions, these regions are disproportionately affected, highlighting the inequities in the current global climate framework.
The Challenges of Execution
While ESG frameworks appear clear in theory, their execution has been fraught with challenges, especially concerning global issues like climate change. A key problem is the externalization of carbon-intensive industries by developed nations In their pursuit of reducing domestic emissions, many developed countries have outsourced manufacturing to countries in the Global South, such as India, China, and Indonesia.
This outsourcing reduces domestic Scope 3 emissions (those generated in the supply
chain) but shifts the
developing nations. While the emissions may be hidden from the public eye in wealthier nations, the environmental damage is real, and t
already face the h
consequences of climate change. T
fundamental flaw in
Developed nations need to go beyond simply reducing their own emissions—they must also assist developing nations in transitioning to greener economies. This includes providing financial support, technology transfers, and the necessary resources for developing nations to adopt sustainable practices. Companies like EP Biocomposites Limited are a l r e
responsibility For EP Biocomposites, sustainability is not just a buzzword but a fundamental aspect of their operations Aligned with India's climate goals, the company is committed to adhering to global ESG standards in all its practices, supporting both environmental sustainability and social equity.
Climate change is a global problem that transcends borders, and its mitigation requires collective, equitable efforts.

Alliances like BRICS
( B r a z i l , R u s s i a , India, China, and South Africa) are increasingly asserting their role in global climate negotiations. These countries are not asking for handouts but are calling for fairness in the distribution of global climate responsibilities. They are advocating for policies that recognize historical inequalities and ensure a more equitable sharing of resources and solutions.
These countries are pushing for a seat at the table in global discussions and for solutions that take into account their unique vulnerabilities and developmental needs. Their goal is not to hinder progress but to ensure that the path to sustainability is inclusive, and fair, and considers the vast disparities in global emissions and development.
Collaboration: The Path Forward
The path to addressing climate change and ESG issues lies in collaboration The challenges posed by climate change do not recognize borders, and therefore, solutions must be built on shared responsibility
While the road ahead may be long, it is clear that the journey toward sustainability requires a focus on people. It is about acknowledging diverse perspectives, understanding unique challenges, and finding solutions that work for all With transparency, empathy, and collaboration, the global community can navigate the challenges of climate change together.
A Shared Future
The world’s journey toward sustainability is not just about policies or frameworks; it is about building a future that is just, equitable, and resilient for everyone. It is a collective effort, where every nation, company, and individual plays a crucial role. Collaboration must be at the heart of this effort, ensuring that all voices are heard and that solutions are fair and effective.
The challenges are vast, but the opportunities for change are equally immense. The global community must work together to create a sustainable future that benefits everyone, regardless of their geographic or economic position. Only through shared responsibility, transparency, and mutual respect can the world meet the complex challenges posed by climate change and create a truly sustainable global future.

Promoting Pet Adoption in
Goa this New Year
By Seeja Prabhu
As the New Year dawns in Goa, a m i d s t t h e p i c t u r e s q u e landscapes, pristine beaches, and vibrant celebrations, there remains an often-overlooked crisis: the plight of the numerous stray animals that roam the streets, battling harsh conditions, hunger, and neglect. Despite Goa's image as a paradise for travelers, it is also home to an alarming number of stray dogs and cats that struggle daily for survival. This reality calls for immediate action an urgent need to rethink how we view and treat animals, particularly the need to promote pet adoption and responsible care for strays. It is time to reflect on the powerful message: Adopt, Don’t Shop. The Stray Crisis: An Unseen Epidemic
I n G o a , t h e s t r a y a n i m a l population is growing at an alarming rate. The state's idyllic streets, often crowded with tourists and locals, also teem with animals dogs, cats, and other creatures—who have nowhere to go. Many of these strays were once beloved pets, abandoned when their owners grew weary, or animals born into a world of neglect. These animals face i n n u m e r a b l e c h a l l e n g e s : malnutrition, disease, abuse, and, tragically, death on the streets d u e t o t r a f f i c a c c i d e n t s , starvation, or lack of medical care.
As heartbreaking as it is, the issue of strays is compounded by the
failure to control their reproduction
Unsterilized animals continue to reproduce at an alarming rate, contributing to an evergrowing population of strays. This vicious cycle perpetuates their suffering and further strains animal shelters that are already overwhelmed and underfunded. Yet, amid this crisis, there lies an untapped solution: adoption.
Adopt, Don't Shop: A Call to Conscience
The concept of adopting a pet is not just a compassionate gesture—it is a responsibility and a moral imperative. Goa, with its rich cultural and spiritual heritage, has long been a place where compassion for animals is enshrined in its ethos. However, there is still a growing trend where people, particularly in urban areas, opt to shop for pets rather than adopt from shelters.
While pet stores often offer purebred dogs and cats, the truth is that many of these animals c o n t r i b u t e t o t h e p r o b l e m o f p e t overpopulation. By purchasing from breeders, we inadvertently perpetuate the cycle of breeding and demand, rather than helping to address the staggering number of homeless animals who desperately need a loving home. Adopting a pet, however, changes everything. Shelters across Goa are filled with animals of all breeds, ages, and sizes, each of whom longs for the chance to be a part of a family. Many of these animals have been rescued from dire circumstances, such as abuse, abandonment, or accidents By choosing adoption, individuals not only save a life but also contribute to the reduction of the stray population.
The Vital Need for Sterilization
One of the most effective ways to curb the ever-growing stray animal population is through sterilization. Goa has made strides in this regard, but the issue remains far from solved Sterilization is not only a humane solution but also an essential step in breaking
the cycle of animal suffering. Stray dogs and cats often breed prolifically, producing multiple litters each year, and without intervention, their numbers continue to escalate.
Sterilization programs in Goa are crucial in managing the stray population and ensuring that more animals are not born into lives of hardship These programs, conducted by various NGOs, animal welfare groups, and government bodies, provide free or low-cost sterilization services to stray animals. They help prevent the birth of unwanted litter, ultimately reducing the number of animals on the streets. However, sterilization is not a standalone solution. It must be part of a more comprehensive approach that includes rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption. The aim should be not just to manage the population but to ensure that the animals who are rescued and sterilized can find their place in loving homes, where they can thrive.
The Power of Compassionate Choices
As we step into a new year, it is a perfect opportunity to reflect on the choices we make—not just for ourselves but for the world around us. Every year, thousands of pets are abandoned, left to fend for themselves on the streets For these animals, every day is a struggle, and yet, there is hope.
Adopting a pet, particularly a stray, is not merely an act of charity; it is an enriching experience for the adopter as well. Many families have shared stories of how their adopted pets have transformed their lives—offering unconditional love, joy, and a sense of fulfillment. Strays are often incredibly resilient and appreciative of the love and care they receive.
Moreover, adopting a stray means giving that animal a second chance at life—a life filled with love, respect, and care. Stray dogs and cats are often more grateful and affectionate
than pets raised in controlled environments, as they understand the value of a safe haven. In return for your kindness, they offer companionship and loyalty beyond measure.
How to Get Involved: Steps Towards a Better Future
Adopt, Don’t Shop: When looking for a pet, consider adoption. Many local shelters offer adoption services and regularly post profiles of animals in need of homes. Check with local animal rescue groups to find out about upcoming adoption drives.
Support Sterilization Efforts: If adoption is not an immediate option, consider supporting local sterilization programs. Volunteering time or donating funds to organizations that offer sterilization and rescue services can have a long-term impact on controlling the stray population.
Educate and Advocate: Spread awareness about the importance of pet adoption and sterilization. Engage with the local community and encourage friends, family, and colleagues to adopt from shelters instead of buying from breeders or pet stores.
Provide Shelter and Care: For those who are unable to adopt, providing temporary shelter or feeding stray animals can make a significant difference in their lives. Even small gestures, such as leaving food and water out for the stray animals in your neighborhood, can help alleviate their suffering.
This New Year, let’s choose compassion. Adopt a stray, and give a deserving animal the gift of love, security, and a forever home.

FEAST OF THE THREEKINGS
By Seeja Prabhu
The Feast of the Epiphany, commonly known as the Feast of the Three Kings, is a celebration deeply ingrained in the spiritual and cultural fabric of Goa. Celebrated annually on January 6, this grand festival marks the journey of the three wise men Caspar, Melchior, and Balthazar who traveled to Bethlehem to honor the newborn Jesus Christ What makes this event unique is its vibrant c e l e b r a t i o n s , h i s t o r i c a l significance, and the traditions p a s s e d d o w n t h r o u g h generations Particularly, the villages of Cansaulim, Chandor, and Reis Magos in Goa come alive w i t h f e r v o r , o f f e r i n g a n experience like no other.
The Origins and Significance of the Feast
The Feast of the Three Kings is held twelve days after Christmas. It commemorates the biblical tale of the Magi, also known as the Wise Men or Kings, who presented gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh to the infant Jesus For c e n t u r i e s , t h i s e v e n t h a s symbolized the manifestation of Christ to the Gentiles, reflecting the universal acknowledgment of Jesus’ divinity and kingship. In Goa, the festival takes on an additional layer of significance, tied not only to religious devotion but also to local folklore The region’s rich history is interwoven
with diverse cultures, and the Feast of the Three Kings is a celebration that transcends boundaries. Thousands of people, both Christian and Hindu, make a pilgrimage to the sacred sites, offering prayers and seeking blessings from the revered Virgin Mary, particularly at the Chapel of Nossa Senhora dos Remédios (Our Lady of Remedies) in Cansaulim.
The Unique Traditions of Cansaulim’s Celebration
Among the many places in Goa that celebrate the Feast of the Three Kings, Cansaulim stands out for its rich traditions. The festivities take place at the Chapel of Our Lady of Remedies, perched on the hillock of Cuelim. This historic site, believed by many to have once been a Hindu temple, is now a beacon of faith for both the local Christian and Hindu communities. The chapel, dedicated to Our Lady of the Mount, is said to possess protective powers, and many believe the Virgin Mary’s footprints can still be found on the nearby hills, where she is thought to have rested during her journey.
In Cansaulim, the celebration begins with a heartwarming tradition: the selection of three boys between the ages of 8 and 12 from the local villages Cansaulim, Arrossim, and Cuelim—who are crowned as the three Kings of the festival. These boys, chosen for their good character and devotion, are draped in splendid costumes, representing the Magi who made their way to the manger to pay homage to the newborn King. This ritual, one of the highlights of the festival, involves a grand procession that leads the Kings through the village to the chapel on the mount. They are escorted by a brass band, adding a festive note to the proceedings, and are cheered on by the villagers who gather along the way to catch a glimpse of the royal procession.
A Pilgrimage of Faith and Devotion
The climb to the Chapel of Our Lady of Remedies is no ordinary journey; it is a pilgrimage. Locals and visitors alike ascend the many steps leading to the chapel, each step a symbol of faith and devotion. Pilgrims offer flowers, candles, and incense, seeking blessings from the statue of Our Lady of the Mount, which is adorned with beautiful jewelry, flowers, and garlands. It is believed that she holds a special power of protection, particularly for couples hoping to conceive a child, further deepening the connection between the community and the Virgin Mary.
The final day of the festival, January 6, is marked by a special mass and a festive gathering where the community comes together to celebrate the culmination of the spiritual journey. Local markets spring to life, offering an array of goods, from handcrafted copperware to spices, jewelry, and textiles.
The Rich Tapestry of Goa’s Epiphany
The Feast of the Three Kings is not only a religious event but also a cultural spectacle. The region of Goa, with its diverse cultural heritage, comes alive during the ten-day festivities. The streets are filled with music, dance, and exuberance, reflecting the joy and gratitude of the people While the three processions lead the Kings to the chapel, the celebrations spill into the community, creating an atmosphere of togetherness.
In the days leading up to the feast, children in Goa engage in a delightful custom. On the eve of January 5, they place their shoes outside their homes in the hopes of receiving gifts from the Three Kings, mimicking the tradition of the wise men who presented their offerings to Jesus This exchange of gifts, often accompanied by the sweet taste of Rosca de Reyes, the traditional King’s Cake, adds a
touch of festive sweetness to the proceedings.
A Story Told Through Tradition
The tale of the Three Kings, or the Magi, has t r a n s c e n d e d g e n e r a t i o n s T h e s e Kings—Caspar, Melchior, and Balthazar—are often depicted in different ways, each representing a different region of the ancient world. Caspar often said to have hailed from India, brought frankincense, symbolizing Christ’s divine nature. Melchior, from Arabia, offered gold, symbolizing Christ’s kingship. Balthazar, representing Africa, brought myrrh, which foretold the suffering and death of Christ.
This story, rich with symbolism, is not only the foundation of religious observance but also a reminder of the universal recognition of Jesus Christ’s significance, transcending the boundaries of culture and religion.
In Conclusion
The Feast of the Three Kings in Goa is an extraordinary blend of faith, history, and cultural tradition From the processions through the villages of Cansaulim, Chandor, and Reis Magos to the solemn pilgrimage up the hill to the Chapel of Our Lady of Remedies, this celebration brings together people from all walks of life.

CHILD HOOD AND TACKLING OF TEENAGE OBESITY
Although many children grow out of their over fatness later as they reach adolescence, being over fat as a child is thought to increase the likelihood of obesity later in life. More than one in three of all adults and one in five of all children are overweight. Research suggests the best opportunity to address problems of overweight and obesity is before childhood. Change becomes more difficult as the child reaches adolescence.
Some adults may not be well suited to speak to a child about their o b e s i t y A l w a
n t h e discussion by expressing your acceptance and approval of the child. The child's weight should not be associated with their approval or acceptance. Look at the positive aspects of the child.
Allow the child to express their concerns and experiences. Try to understand the child's perceptions of the issues. Discuss feelings, concerns for their health and social implications. Understand the child may have a positive self-esteem and body image despite being o v e r w e i g h t T h i s i s t o b e encouraged. However, if the child expressed poor body image, be sensitive and acknowledge their pain.
Overweight kids may have feeling of depression from being teased or not being popular, particular when they are developing interest in the opposite sex. Negative body image may decrease self-esteem. They can develop negative feelings of school and other social settings. They often become discouraged and drop out of sports or other physical activities when they are unable perform at the level of their colleagues
Many overweight kids do not know what to do or where to turn for help. Parents should talk to them to share their concerns with you anytime. Express your willingness to support appropriate health and wellness goals. Do not focus on weight loss as criteria for success, but instead emphasize healthier habits, improved fitness, increased energy, etc.
The child must make the decision to start the weight management program. They should not be made to do anything against their will. A program initiated without the child's
true consent will be short lived. A child's or teenager's motivation to lose weight may come from a variety of factors including health, social aspirations, sports or performance goals, desire to fit in c l o t h e s , i n s p i r a t i o n f r o m colleagues, siblings, fitness models, or sports figures.
The family should seek the assistance from a variety of experienced professionals The family and all caregivers should be involved in the treatment program.
The family must be ready for change. If the family is not prepared to change their diet or activity, or feels obesity is inevitable, the program should either be deferred or the family should consult a qualified therapist.
Treatment should involve permanent changes, not short term diets or exercise regimens aimed at rapid weight loss. Small, gradual, and targeted changes in activity and diet should be implemented A flexible and a balanced approach to eating and exercise should be encouraged.
An adolescent's increasingly independent eating and activity behaviors should be recognized and respected. Allow the child to regulate how much they eat Attempting to control what or how much a youth can eat may back fire. Controlled feedings can initially lead to anger, control battles, s e c r e t e a t i n g b e h a v i o r s , preoccupation with food, fears of disapproval, and may increase the likelihood of developing eating disorders.
The family should learn to monitor eating and activity. The following tips can be offered to the parents. Stock up and maintain a variety of healthy foods at home. Consider removing all foods from the home that are off limits such as soft drinks, chips, and other high calorie snack foods or teach how to eat these foods in limited quantities. Eat at restaurants that have healthy food choices. Encourage portion control, particularly for higher calorie foods. Teach your child to cook healthy meals at home; keep it fun. Eat breakfast and other meals as a family. Pack healthy school lunches. Allow your child to assist in the planning of meals and snacks. If the food is not appealing, kids will eat
elsewhere Do not reward with food, instead use praise, stickers, time for favorite activities, etc. Don't make kids exercise. Instead use language like, "Let's play." or "Let's go...” Kids often prefer the term "physical activity" or "play" over "exercise" Kids often view exercise as something they have to do where as physical activity or play is something they just do. Find what kids enjoy. Kids will do what is fun and encouraging.
Decrease television viewing and excessive computer time. Set a limit on the amount of time he/she can watch television and play on the computer. Continue to encourage opportunities for physical activity and play, not just once or twice a day either. Find activities or sport he/she enjoys and can participate in on a regular basis. Be flexible and creative Kids will usually keep active if given the opportunity to participate in fun activities. Perhaps invite for a walk or ride while you are exercising, but make it fun for him/her so he/she will want to continue Parents, caregivers, coaches, teachers, and health practitioners should encourage kids with their program goals without pressure. Let them know they should not get discouraged if they drop out of their program. Encourage them to keep trying. Do not preach but be involved.
Criticism, lecturing, or reprimanding should be avoided; encouragement and empathy should be practiced. Avoid shaming comments such as "I'll give you Rs 100 if you..." or "do you really need that extra serving?". In addition, do not use blaming positions such as "you know you should not be eating junk food," or "it just takes will power " . These types of statements only lead to shame and guilt Shaming can negatively effect self-esteem, social interactions, relationships, and their willingness to try new challenges.
Promote a healthy self-esteem and self-acceptance. Avoid talking negatively about their body. Let the child know it is ok no matter what they weigh. Help the child identify interests, activities, or talents to pursue. This develops and promotes self-esteem.

A partnership firm may opt to get itself registered with the registrar. While specific statistics on the exact percentage of registered partnership firms are not readily available from the search results, it is understood that a significant portion of partnership firms remain unregistered.

IMPORTANCE OF REGISTERING A PARTNERSHIP FIRM
When two or more individuals plan to start a business, the easiest legal setup, in terms of formation, and running compliances, is the Partnership firm. Hence, we see a huge proliferation of partnership firms in India.
A partnership firm may opt to get itself registered with the registrar. While specific statistics on the exact percentage of registered partnership firms are not readily available from the search results, it is understood that a significant portion of partnership firms remain unregistered. This is primarily because registration is voluntary under the Indian Partnership Act of 1932, allowing firms to choose whether or not to register at their formation or later during their operation. However, it is advisable to register due to the legal protections and benefits it offers.
The first major disability suffered by partnership firms, if they do not register, is regarding suits between the partners and the firm. No suit to enforce a right arising from a contract or conferred by the Partnership Act, between the partners or the firm, can be instituted in any Court. This means that if there are disputes between the partners, or
the claim of the firm. This again can severely impact unregistered firms.
Considering the above issues, it is extremely apparent that every partnership firm must consider getting itself registered, to give itself several legal rights, to protect its assets.
T h e n w h a t a
partners and the firm, neither the partner nor the firm can sue each other, if the dispute relates to rights arising out of a contract or r i g h t s a r i s i n g o u t o f t h e partnership deed, egs Right to Share Profits, Right to Access Information, Right to Participate i n M a n a g e m e n t , R i g h t t o remuneration etc
The second major disability is that, suits against third parties, by the partners or the firm, are invalid if the suits relate to rights arising out of a contract. Egs if a buyer from the firm defaults in payment for the goods, then the firm will not be able to sue the buyer for breach of contract of purchase, if the firm is not registered. Thus unregistered firms are at a great disadvantage as compared to registered firms. However, it may be noted that, unregistered firms can be sued by others, so the disability is only one-way.
Thirdly, unregistered firms cannot claim the right to set-off as well. For example, if a third party brings an action against the firm to recover some money, the firm cannot say that the third party also owes some money to the firm and, therefore, the claim of third party should be adjusted against
e partnership firms already in existence? The Partnership Act allows firms to register at any point in time of their existence, i.e. it is not necessary that a firm needs to be registered as soon as it is formed Thus, even firms which were formed many years ago, can register now The process of registration of partnership firms in Goa is largely online through a designated site. Once registered, the firm must ensure that all further changes to the firm, like change in partners, change in address etc must be updated with the registrar, to ensure that they do not face the disabilities as discussed above. Thus, why it is not compulsory to register partnership firms in India, unregistered firms are severely hampered in seeking legal remedies to their issues and disputes Thus, it is imperative
Registration can be done at any point in time, and it is also equally important to keep updating the information in the registrar's records.

GOA REAL ESTATE: WHAT TO EXPECT IN 2025?
What was once purely a tourist destination has morphed into a destination for relocation, holiday homes, investors and more. is has brought jobs to the youth, wealth to land owners and immense tax revenue to the state.
As we kick off the new year, let's face one thing. 2024 was a wild year for Goa's real estate sector. A lot changed, especially perceptions.
Love it or hate it, you can't ignore it. Goa's real estate sector has had a role in changing the conversation about Goa.
dilution of Goa's cultural heritage More recently, there have been rumours about a fall in tourism and its impact on real estate demand.
from apartments to super luxury estates. The exuberance about Goa will give way to rationality and projects with inflated prices will be slow to move.
2.Buy It To Use It: Goa's real estate mostly had one kind of buyer, the holiday home buyer. But increasingly, over time, buyers are looking at multiple use cases including relocation, long term rentals and capital appreciation.
3.Land Going Gone: What has always been a problem is now going to get compounded. Clear title settlement land in Goa has never been easy to find. But now, it's almost impossible. So as a result, builders are attempting conversions or are working on lands with possessory title. Neither of these is ideal.
4.Resale Rules: With homes bought 3-5 years ago having appreciated by as much as 100%, many home owners are looking for an exit. This creates a dual pricing which in many cases, will undercut newer project launches where pricing reflects the increased and current land prices. Buyers will have a wide range of resale to choose from, with no wait time. Overall, if you ' re looking for a home in Goa, 2025 will be a year o r o p p o r t u n i t i e s W i t h competition rising among builders, buyers are likely to have more sway (within reason). What's more is that the menu is becoming incrementally diverse to cater to the increasingly diverse needs of home buyers.

What was once purely a tourist destination has morphed into a destination for relocation, holiday homes, investors and more. This has brought jobs to the youth, wealth to land owners and immense tax revenue to the state. But it's not all pretty. It has raised questions about sustainable development, overcrowding, environmental degradation, strained infrastructure and
So what comes next? Is tourism the sole factor working in favour of Goa's real estate? What if tourism falls? Will Goa continue to see the real estate demand it saw i n 2 0 2 0 - 2 0 2 4 ? A r e t h e metaphorical dark clouds going to wipe out the sunny beach vibes, or is the market evolving beyond tourism?
Here are my 4 predictions:
1.Pricing is King: With a sudden increase in supply with the influx of new developers, buyers are looking for value. And this will impact all price segments ranging
