Euryn Jones Regional Agricultural Manager at HSBC, leading the bank’s specialist team of agricultural managers in Wales. Previously Euryn was National Agricultural Specialist with Barclays Bank and before that he was a lecturer at the Welsh Agricultural College, Aberystwyth. Brought up on an upland dairy and sheep family farm in north Wales, Euryn graduated from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, in 1983 with a BSc (Hons) in Agricultural Economics. Rheolwr Rhanbarthol Amaethyddol HSBC, yn arwain tȋm arbenigol o reolwyr amaethyddol y banc yng Nghymru. Yn flaenorol roedd Euryn yn Arbenigwr Amaethyddol Cenedlaethol gyda banc Barclays a chyn hynny bu’n ddarlithydd yng Ngholeg Amaethyddol Cymru, Aberystwyth. Wedi ei fagu ar fferm ucheldir llaeth a defaid yng ngogledd Cymru, graddiodd Euryn o Brifysgol Cymru, Aberystwyth yn 1983 gyda BSc (Anrh) mewn Economeg Amaethyddol.

Mark Berrisford-Smith Having studied Economics at Sussex and London Universities, Mark is now Head of Economics for HSBC’s commercial banking business in the UK. He is responsible for advising the Bank in the UK and its business customers on developments in the British and global economies. Within this remit he takes a particular interest in monitoring the performance of European countries, and also China, as well as the evolving devolution and decentralization agenda in the UK. Evolution Farming Evolution Farming was formed in January 2010 by co founders Tom Rawson and Oliver Hall with the aim of developing a sustainable dairy business providing both job satisfaction and wealth creation. Today the company has two distinct arms, these being on one hand a practical dairy farming business based around various agreements and on the other a thriving farm consultancy business. Today the company milks around 1000 cows over three units under a number of different arrangements from their own twenty year tenancy to being rewarded through a simple management fee. An essential part of Evolution Farming’s strategy is the recruitment, development and the retention of high quality staff; the starting point is a new entrant to the industry, the end game is a highly motivated unit manager with a share of the profit from their unit through to being a director of the company. Cow ownership is now recognised as the starting point to wealth creation allowing the individual to get a return on their investment through “cow hire” and at the same time grow their stock numbers. The directors are very aware that positive, out of the box individuals drive the business forward at a faster rate, and as a result are always keen to engage with potential new people to work within this fast growing business. Ian Potter The son of an East Yorkshire farmer, Ian Potter was a student at Cirencester and then a chartered surveyor and auctioneer before he set up his own quota empire in 1988. Spotting a niche in the market place as a quota broker, Ian set-up in business and maintained pole position in the sale of milk quota for the best part of 26 years. His company became the market leader and best known broker in Europe. In recent years the business has diversified into offering call centre, back office administration and telephone answering services for a range of agricultural businesses including The National Fallen Stock Company. Their work includes managing around 16,000 direct debits each month as well as collecting money directly from invoiced customers. Ian has written a monthly article for dairy farmer for 26 years and also writes a dairy industry bulletin which is circulated to around 8,000 UK dairy farmers most weeks. Both of these are eagerly awaited by many involved in the Industry in anticipation that Ian has once again delved into the detail and cut through the spin to explain a view from the top of the parlour language what the real situation is. Andrew Freemantle The Freemantle family have been farming pigs at Kenniford Farm on the outskirts of Exeter for more than 20 years. Andrew Freemantle who represents South West pig farmers on the board of the National Pig Association (NPA) started farming 60 and has grown his herd to 320‐sows on a farrow‐to‐finish Freedom Foods‐approved pig unit, marketing a total of 140 pigs per week. Approximately 50 of these are sold direct to the final consumer under their own Kenniford Farm brand via their farm shop, catering and wholesale businesses. Mae’r teulu Freemantle wedi bod yn ffermio yn Kenniford Farm ar gyrion Exeter ers dros 20 mlynedd. Mae Andrew Freemantle yn cynrychioli ffermwyr moch de Cymru ar fwrdd y Gymdeithas Foch Genedlaethol. Dechreuodd drwy ffermio 60 o foch, ac erbyn hyn mae ganddo 320 hwch ar uned foch a gaiff ei chymeradwyo gan gynllun ‘Farrow to Finish’ Freedom Foods, ac mae’n gwerthu cyfanswm o 140 o foch yr wythnos.
