Who we help
We serve children in foster care, victims of domestic violence, and the amazing foster and adoptive families in our communities. SAFFT is your family crisis center for Forsyth County and the North Georgia region.
Services for the Community
Children in foster care need a safe place to visit with their birth families. We provide this critical service through our state-of-the-art visitation center. We offer their birth families parenting and life skills education, life coaching, transportation, and addiction recovery to help promote reunification. We also empower foster parents and adoptive families for success through scholarships, meals, clothing, education, and support groups.
Services for Everyone
SAFFT does not just serve children in foster care. Our supervised visitation and custody exchange services support many families going through difficult situations such as a custody dispute, divorce, domestic violence, or family disagreements. If one party does not feel comfortable exchanging children with another party, our services are here to help. We ensure privacy and safety for everyone.

Forsyth County Non-Profit Guide Where can I volunteer? What causes can I support? How can I help in the community? Forsyth County is a fast-growing, affluent place, but there are still many issues that impact our residents and our community. Local non-profits are often those who take on these challenging tasks, but they can’t do it alone. This guide, and the accompanying website at forsythnews.com/nonprofits, is designed to help bridge the gap between those who help others, those who need help and those looking to help. We hope it provides insight into the causes these organizations impact and the reasons they exist. We hope it also gives you a window into how your own gifts may be able to help the community surrounding you. From volunteer hours to financial contributions and charitable donations, there are numerous ways to support worthwhile causes in Forsyth County. As the list of local non-profits is ever-expanding, we will continue to include them on our list. If you think a non-profit should be added, please email nonprofits@forsythnews.com. We have not included schools and churches on our list, but there are many helpful avenues through these organizations as well. The core focus areas of the KFCB program are waste reduction and recycling, beautification and community greening, litter prevention and reduction, and water quality. KFCB’s mission is to cooperate with government, businesses, schools, civic organizations, and citizens in a joint effort to improve beautification, litter reduction, and recycling. The mission of Literacy Forsyth is to provide adult literacy services that educate, build self-sufficiency, and strengthen the community’s economic base. Literacy Forsyth and our partners have been successfully doing so since 1993, and we will continue to serve the Forsyth County community with your support.
• Free Tutoring for low-level and non-reading adults • Free tutoring, test prep classes, and study materials for students studying for the GED • Free U.S. Citizenship test tutoring, test prep classes, and study materials • Free English classes and tutoring for non-English speakers • Scholarships for GED test costs Literacy Forsyth is operated by Forsyth County’s Certified Literate Community Program, a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation that does not receive government funding.

Sawnee Artists Association
Founded in 1974, the Sawnee Artists Association is a non-profit organization serving the Forsyth County community. SAA’s function from its inception has been to provide enriching visual art experiences for the community they call home. SAA currently has approximately 150 members. Among our many members are art advocates, painters in oil, watercolor, acrylic, and other media; potters, wood turners, glass artists, photographers, fiber artists, jewelry artists and many others. During the year there are monthly meetings with presentations from local artists and businesses, which provide inspiration to members. Anyone, regardless of art ability, is welcome to join. The SAA also organizes shows and exhibits throughout the year; including the annual March “Art” Madness Members Show, the Colors of Fall Fine Art Exhibit in September and our Christmas Arts & Crafts Festival at Lanier Tech in November.
