Celebrating the Don Hendricks Partnership Award Recipient The Don Hendricks Partnership award is the highest honor that a partner in Education can receive. Since its inception in 2002, this award is always given to a partner who best exemplifies the mission of the Partners in Education program and demonstrates loyalty to the school system and to the community. At this year’s Celebration of Excellence, held on Friday, March 13, 2015, Cindy Jones Mills was named the 2015 recipient of this award. Cindy began as a room mom and further became involved as a mentor and in parent organizations, school councils, and Education SPLOST/Bond committees. At the district’s alternative program, she organized business leaders to serve as guest speakers to help at-risk students plan for their futures beyond school. When she saw a need to educate, advocate and empower youth and community members t o p r eve n t s u b s t a n c e a bu s e t h r o u g h o u t a p e r s o n ’s l i f e span, she formed and obtained funding for the CummingForsyth County Drug Free Coalition.
