Hansgrohe teaming up with Forsyth system
H
ansgrohe and Russ Wheeler recently donated showerheads for Forsyth County middle and high schools. These shower heads will not only reduce the amount of water used at each location, but through advanced technology they will feel better than what the school system currently has available. These showerheads are top of the line, and due to budgetary restrictions they’re not something the system could have pur-
chased. The installation of the new showerheads will save money on both water and sewer at all middle and high schools. Hansgrohe also has donated 36 shower heads for all the schools’ teachers of the year and three kitchen faucets to the system’s three finalists. They contin-
ue to be instrumental in the success of the STEM Academy at Forsyth Central High School. Their support and continued sponsorships of various Forsyth County Schools programs is greatly appreciated. Thanks to all our friends and partners at Hansgrohe.
Hansgrohe employees, Bette Cox, Sibylle Mair, VP of Finance & Controlling, and Julie Wagner stand in front of a display of showerhead and faucets that have been donated to Forsyth County Schools.

Manufacturing Small Business sector to grow, Awards luncheon experts believe B F
or quite some time many of our nation’s largest companies have turned to China as a resource for manufacturing their products. Although this strategy has been profitable for many businesses, it has also caused local laborers to wonder if manufacturing jobs will ever return back the United States. According to several recent studies, outsourced manufacturing jobs may return back to the U.S. market in 2013. According to James Fallows and Charles Fishman of The Atlantic, “the future of industry is in America.” Fallows and Fishman suggest that many companies are bringing their jobs back to the United States because of such factors as: • Wages in China are rising at a rate of 18 percent per year; • Increases in oil prices are causing shipping to become a costly exercise; and • China’s lenient copyright laws create a risk that confidential products can be duplicated. As indicated by Gary P. Pisano and Willy C. Shih of The Harvard

Business Review, these factors are causing CEO’s to make “better sourcing decisions that will reinvigorate America’s innovation-driven economy.” The manufacturing sector in Forsyth County and the city of Cumming are already seeing signs of revitalization. According to the Georgia Department of Economic D evelop m e n t ’s G e o rg i a Fa c t s Database, there are currently over 515 manufacturing facilities located in Forsyth County. “Our data shows that nearly 78 percent of the companies that expanded their businesses in 2012 were from the manufacturing sector,” said chamber Vice President of Economic Development Randall Toussaint. “These companies are collectively projected to create over 200 new jobs within our community.” According to the Georgia Department of Economic Development, Forsyth County’s expansion projects accounted for nearly 40 percent of the expansion projects that took place within the northeast region of Georgia in 2012.
B&T Presents the 2013 Small Business Awards Luncheon of the Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce The Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce, in an effort to support entrepreneurship in the community, is excited to host the 2013 Business Awards Luncheon, presented by BB&T. This program offers well-deserved recognition to businesses for their achievements and contributions to the community by providing the opportunity to showcase their company, share their story, and be rewarded for their efforts. Last year’s winners included New B u s i n e s s Awa r d r e c i p i e n t E l i t e Plumbing, Business Mentor of the Year Award winner Brandywine Printing and Entrepreneur of the Year Award winner JTECH Networks, just to name a few. Join the chamber on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Forsyth Conference Center to cele-
brate those who have made an impact to our community. For more information or to register for the luncheon please go to www.cummingforsythchamber.org or call (770) 887-6461.
