WELCOME TO THE
Welcome and thank you for joining our team for the Fargo AirSho. The Fargo Airsho Committee, with over 70 volunteer members, has been working for over a year and cleared several obstacles to bring you what may prove to be our best show ever in 2021.
We were pleased to have been chosen again by the US Navy Blue Angels to be the sight of one of their flight demonstrations. We’re proud and honored to be hosting them again under the leadership of Fargo native Commander Brian C. Kesselring in this the Blue Angels 75th Anniversary year. Brian led the team in the transition to their new F/A-18 Super Hornets. In addition, Fargo was also chosen as one of the Navy Week sites. AirSho week will be filled with several Naval activities.
Sponsored by RAD Aerosports, we are thrilled to be presenting the first ever dual performance by RAD Aerosports’ Jet Waco and Jeff Boerboon’s jet powered YAK 110.
Along with this, all the performers you’ll see today are the Best of the Best!
Over the years, our Committee has been able to give back over $600,000 into the community, including over $300,000 into the Fargo Air Museum. Thank you for your support of the Fargo AirSho and for helping us achieve that.
ENJOY THE SHOW!

Greetings!
As Mayor of Fargo, it is my pleasure to extend a very warm welcome to everyone attending the Fargo AirSho on July 24 and 25, 2021 at Hector International Airport.
The U.S. Navy Blue Angels precision flight team will be returning this year to headline the show. The Blue Angels are celebrating their 75th anniversary this year, having showcased the pride and precision of the U.S. Navy to millions of people in the United States and worldwide since 1946. The team currently flies F /A-18 Super Hornets and the Blue Angels Flight Leader and Commanding Officer is Fargo native Brian C. Kesselring.
Other exciting performances at this year’s AirSho include the F-16 Viper Demo Team, the Shockwave jet truck, RAD Aerosports Jet, the U.S. Navy Leap Frogs Parachute Team, Tom “Lark” Larkin and his mini jet, the Lucas Oil and Jacquie B airshows and many more.
On behalf of all the citizens of Fargo, I hope you enjoy all of the performances and take advantage of all our city has to offer. You will find many unique shops, fine eating establishments and an abundance of services and activities that are of the highest quality and readily available to you.
Thank you for attending the Fargo AirSho. I know you will enjoy your time here.
Sincerely,
Dr. Timothy J. Mahoney MayorThe Fargo AirSho is a non-profit organization of 70+ volunteer members that have been producing award winning shows for more than 30 years. The event has become a million dollar production that brings over 30,000 fans from all over the US and Canada to the show at Hector International Airport. The success of the show has allowed the committee to make more than $600,000 in contributions to area organizations, including over $300,000 to the Fargo Air Museum.
B-25J - Miss Mitchell
“Miss Mitchell” is the pristine example of what a dedicated group of volunteers can accomplish. Donated to the Minnesota Wing in the 1980’s, volunteers immediately began a complete ground-up restoration of this versatile medium bomber.
The B-25 placed itself in World War II history books on April 18, 1942 when 16 of the medium range bombers launched from the deck of an aircraft carrier in the Pacific Ocean and bombed mainland Japan. Led by Lt. Col. James “Jimmy” Doolittle, America had begun to turn the tables on the Japanese.
The B-25J “Miss Mitchell” served in the 310th Bomb Group, 57th Bomb Wing of the 12th Air Force in North Africa and Italy completing over 130 missions. Its legacy of no crew fatalities during all of its missions was a rare accomplishment.
Prior to taking command of the 8th Air Force in Europe in 1944, the 12th Air Force was under the command of then Brigadier General Jimmy Doolittle.
After a 12 year restoration by the Minnesota Wing of the Commemorative Air Force, Miss Mitchell took her first flight on April 18, 1992 ~ exactly 50 years to the day of the daring Doolittle raid.
Today, Miss Mitchell appears at air shows and special events throughout the United States and Canada. The Commemorative Air Force Minnesota Wing operates a History Flight program which gives you the opportunity to fly as a crew member on Miss Mitchell!
Mini
- Tom “Lark” Larkin
Mini Jet Airshows is a lifelong dream of the pilot Tom “Lark” Larkin. Having watched the BD-5J perform as a child at a local airshow, and then later becoming a fighter pilot, airline pilot, and aerobatic pilot; it was always his dream to do airshows in a “mini” jet.
What started off as a half partnership in an RV-6 with his brother Larry, eventually turned into time in a Christen Eagle, Panzl, Staudacher, and several other aerobatic aircraft...culminating in the once in a lifetime opportunity to purchase and perform in a SubSonex Jet. At only 500 lbs with speeds up to 300 mph, it puts on one of most unique and exciting airshows in the country!
jacquie B Airshows
When most people turn 50, they figure it’s time to relax and settle into neutral while coasting toward retirement. Not Jacquie B! When Jacquie turned 50, she launched her solo aerobatic career with her one-of-a-kind Pitts Special biplane. During the centennial celebration of powered flight in 2003, Jacquie finally quit the humdrum of a white collar profession and realized her dream as an air show performer, becoming the first female pilot to enter this business at the age of 50.
Jacquie traces her love of flying her to her earliest days, when, as a newborn, her first outing was to the Los Angeles County Airport Air Show. Her pilotfather’s interest in airplanes and flying inspired Jacquie to want to ride the wind. Jacquie spent many years dreaming of flying but was unable to do much about it until years later after working and saving her money. By the time she was 32 years old, she decided she had waited long enough. She enrolled in ground school and the rest is history, as they say. She earned her Private Pilot certificate in 1986 and shortly thereafter was introduced to the world of aerobatics. A friend offered her a ride in a Pitts Special and she jumped at the chance to do a different kind of flying. With that first flight of loops, rolls, spins and a few other very scary maneuvers, she was instantly hooked on aerobatics. “I was so bored with the flying between takeoffs and landings, I just knew there had to be something to do in between”. Once she discovered aerobatics, there was no question in her mind she was
destined for aerobatic flying. It took a few years longer to save enough money to take aerobatic lessons, but save she did and took her first “formal” aerobatic lesson in July 1997. She joined the International Aerobatic Club in August 2000 and for the next 4 years she flew aerobatic competition. She raced her biplane at the Reno Air Races from 2001 through 2004 to learn a whole new kind of flying.
Jacquie is now flying an Extra 300 monoplane. Jacquie has made the switch from a biplane of many years to something new. Her beautiful red Extra is faster, more capable of gyroscopic maneuvers and has two seats! She can now give rides and share her love and passion of flying with others across the country. She holds a Commercial certificate in land-based aircraft as well as a seaplane rating and holds an unrestricted, Level 1 ACE card.
Jacquie B has earned her wings. She no longer qualifies as a newcomer flying for gas-and-a-hot-dog, as the saying goes. Her time has come. With over
2,500 flight hours and more than 100 coast-to-coast air show performances behind her, Jacquie has proven that she has the talent, stamina, discipline and guts to reach beyond the limits placed on her by naysayers. In fact, she broke even more stringent cultural boundaries when she became the first female solo pilot to perform at the 2010 Al Ain Aerobatic Show in the United Arab Emirates. Jacquie is a powerful inspiration to the millions of fans who realize that they too can accomplish great things in life.

Blue Angels ‘Boss’ has roots in F-M area
By David Olson dolson@forumcomm.comFARGO — When the U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels headlined the Fargo AirSho in 1986, the squadron was led by Gil Rud, a native of Portland, N.D., and a graduate of North Dakota State University.
Among those in the crowd watching the show that year were a 6-year-old boy and his dad.
At one point during the Blue Angels’ aerial performance, the boy turned to his father and stated that someday he, too, would be a Blue Angel pilot.
That boy was Brian Kesselring. And when the Blue Angels squadron returns to Fargo for an air show the weekend of July 24-25, Commander Brian Kesselring of the U.S. Navy will be leading the squadron.
Dick Walstad, co-chairman of this year’s Fargo AirSho, said he and Rud, who remains a member of the local air show’s organizing committee, enjoy telling that
story and was reminded of the 1986 air show recently when he came across some programs from the event.
He said he gave one of the programs to Kesselring’s father, Curt, who dropped it off for his son during a visit to the Blue Angels headquarters several months ago.
Brian Kesselring’s roots in the area run deep.
He is a native of Fargo and a graduate of Fargo South High School and Moorhead’s Concordia College, where he earned an undergraduate degree with majors in physics, mathematics and business.

During his days at Concordia, Kesselring also competed in basketball and track and field.
After college, Kesselring attended officer candidate school in Pensacola, Fla., where he earned his commission as an ensign with the U.S. Navy in 2001.
He was designated a naval aviator in 2003 and later was selected to attend the Navy Fighter Weapons School,
known as TOPGUN, where he was a staff instructor from 2008-2011.
In 2019, Kesselring was named the leader of the U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels, for the squadron’s 2020 and 2021 air show seasons.
Walstad said about 30 people have commanded the Blue Angels since the squadron formed in the mid1940s.
That two of those commanders — traditionally called “The Boss”— have come from North Dakota is something special, according to Walstad.
“That is really a rare situation, particularly when you factor in that they were both at the same show in 1986,” Walstad added.
The Fargo AirSho’s current organizing committee has about 70 people who are all volunteers, according to Walstad, who said if the

air show makes any money it is given away.
Over the past 30 years the nonprofit organization has given more than $600,000 to community groups, according to Walstad.
This year’s show has a budget of more than $700,000.
“It’s easy to say this is a milliondollar show, because we’re going to burn up $300,000 worth of fuel in the process,” Walstad said.
This year marks the 75th anniversary season for the Blue Angels, with the squadron having switched this year to flying the F/A-18E Super Hornet.
The switchover is the first time the team has changed aircraft since it transitioned from the A-4F Skyhawk II to the F/A-18 Hornet in 1986.

RAD Aerosports Jet Waco
Starting life as a classic 1929 Taperwing Waco, this was once the aircraft of choice for barnstormers in the 1930’s and 1940’s. Our Jet Waco has been completely redesigned and structurally reinforced using modern day engineering and materials, along with state-of-the art technology to allow the addition of a jet engine to the aircraft.
The Jet Waco is powered by dual power plants: a Pratt & Whitney 985 radial engine and a General Electric CJ610 (J85) jet engine with 3,000 lbs. of thrust. Total thrust of the combined engines is rated at 4,500 lbs. A three bladed Hartzell propeller is used to harness the power of the 985 radial.
This system allows the plane to achieve feats most other aircraft are unable to do, along with reaching speeds up to 250 mph. Snap rolls, spins, barrel rolls and the hover are among the list of maneuvers this aircraft can perform. The plane has a thrust ratio of greater than 1 to 1, which allows it to accelerate going straight up.
The RAD Aerosports Team
It all started back in the early ’80s when two gnarly dudes were born, one in North Dakota, the other Delaware, not knowing where their lives would take them or that they were destined to meet someday and collaborate on an ultimate aviation journey-with one goal in mind, doing something totally RAD!
Interested in aviation from a young age, they were both hooked after attending their first airshow and eventually taking their first aerobatic flight and knew they needed to be a part of the airshow alumni someday. Dell joined the air national guard becoming a crew chief on the C-130 and later flying many corporate jets around the globe. Dell is an accomplished pilot and mechanic. Dell became part of John Klatt’s Airshows team and was one of the original builders on the Jet Waco. Jarrod took over the family business with aircraft maintenance and aerial ag application, eventually building new facilities and expanding the business with his brother Paul who also flies airshows. Jarrod has accumulated thousands of hours in multiple aircraft from small piston to corporate jets - anything he can get his hands on!
Jarrod met Dell through John Klatt at airshows and started to talk about ideas and a future vision of the airshow world - the two became close friends. Jarrod acquired the Jet Waco after John Klatt’s retirement. Jarrod and Dell are continuing the journey with the Jet Waco and already have a few other ideas on the table to expand their partnership offerings! Team RAD’s vision for the future is to showcase and share their love of aviation with the next generations of aviators no matter what age. RAD looks to engage like-minded partners and continue to build on our unique and exciting brand of entertainment while blending old technology with new and keeping the youth dreaming that anything is possible.
Dell lives with his wife, Tonya in Boise, Idaho.
Jarrod lives in Valley City, North Dakota, with his wife Danielle, and four kids.

Paul & Jarrod Lindemann with the Pitts and the Stearman
Paul and Jarrod Lindemann are both fourth generation, commercially rated pilots who got their start in aviation and flying at a very young age. They grew up around a variety of aircraft, being active in the family aviation business. They both gained experience helping their dad, the late Dan Lindemann, with crop spraying in the summer months and aircraft maintenance in the winter months. Paul and Jarrod have thousands of hours logged in various aircraft and are both Airframe & Powerplant certified mechanics.
Paul’s aerobatic performance includes a highly modified Pitts S-2S. It’s running a fuel injected 540 cubic inch Lycoming engine and spins a three blade MT propeller.
Jarrod’s aerobatic performance showcases the Red Baron Stearman which was originally No. 5 of the aerobatic Red Baron Squadron team. This particular Stearman was with the squadron for the entire 28 years that the team performed in airshows and flew the lead at one time. This 1941 biplane was fully restored by the Lindemanns, taking a total of 11 months to finish the project.

Rise Above Exhibit
The Commemorative Air Force (CAF) is a non-profit organization that honors the men and women who built, maintained and flew in military aircraft during World War II. The organization believes that is best accomplished by maintaining the airplanes in flying condition; taking the airplanes to the people allowing them to experience the sight and sound of the aircraft in flight. Collecting, restoring and flying vintage historical aircraft for more than half a century, the Commemorative Air Force ranks as one of the largest private air forces in the world. The CAF is dedicated to honoring American military
aviation through flight, exhibition and remembrance. A non-profit educational association, the CAF has more than 13,000 members and a fleet of over 165 airplanes distributed throughout the country to 79 units located in 25 states. For more information, visit commemorativeairforce. org.
The CAF RISE ABOVE program is a national education outreach program that is dedicated to telling the story of the Tuskegee Airmen and the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP). The program’s goal is to inspire young people to achieve their dreams by introducing them to inspirational stories from the past. It is a non-military charitable organization and is not affiliated with the United States Air Force or with any of the Tuskegee Airmen flying squadrons or WASP programs during World War II. The term Red Tail Squadron denotes
The CAF RISE ABOVE program was first created as the CAF Red Tail Project, a traveling exhibit that focused on the story of the Tuskegee Airmen, the first African-American combat aviators to serve in the U.S. military. These men faced persistent obstacles of racism and segregation;
however they persevered – and through strength of character and dedication, they were able to RISE ABOVE their circumstances. This story, and others like it, allow young people to see a real-world example that they can map onto their own lives – providing a pathway to achieving their dreams.
In the continuing development of the CAF RISE ABOVE program, the CAF identified the inspirational message of social courage that is exemplified by the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP). With the unique aspect of the WASP flying almost every American plane used in WWII, there is a natural connection with collection of aircraft known as the CAF Ghost Squadron. This story will be presented in addition to the existing CAF RISE ABOVE Red Tail story.
The program’s goal is to inspire young people to achieve their dreams.
SHOCKWAVE Jet Truck
Shockwave is a custom-built race truck equipped with 3 huge J3448 Pratt & Whitney Jet Engines originally out of the USA Navy T2 Buckeye. The combined horsepower is 36,000! These 3 Jet Engines make a total of 21,000 lbs of thrust which easily propels this
truck to speeds over 350 mph while racing planes at air shows all over North America! Shockwave is not only the most powerful truck in the world, but it also holds the record speed for Semi Trucks at 376 mph! As one of the most popular air show and drag racing exhibition vehicles in the world, the Shockwave performance is not something
you will soon forget! This is truly an assault of all of your senses with huge flames coming out of the 3 afterburning jet engines, fire shooting out of the smokestacks, intense heat, deafening noise, and SPEED! Shockwave is owned by Darnell Racing Enterprises, Inc based in Springfield, MO and driven by Chris Darnell.
Yak 110
Yak 55 Aircraft + Yak 55 Aircraft + GE J-85 Jet Engine = YAK 110
The Yak 110 project was originally conceived by renowned Airshow pilot Jeff Boerboon and Master Mechanic Dell Coller in 2013. Over the next year and a half, Jeff and Dell began to assemble the team of personnel, aircraft, engineering, and equipment that would be required to bring their dream from concept to reality.
In September of 2016 the help of a longtime friend Chad Bartee was enlisted to aid in the acquisition of the Yak 55 aircraft that would be used in this unusual marriage.
In October of 2016 the first two major pieces of the puzzle were coming together. The Yak 55 (N41126) and the Yak 55 (N955SF) were flown to an airport in Caldwell, ID and then pushed inside Dell’s Aero Speed Shop for the work to begin.
After nineteen months of intense effort by the team the newly christened Yak 110 flew its first Airshow in Mountain Home, ID.
The Yak 110 is the result of many great people coming together with an incredible passion for aviation innovation and is a re-purposing of two aerobatic aircraft that will certainly inspire the next generation of aviation enthusiasts.
Lucas Oil Airshows
Like many of the show pilots, Mike’s passion for aviation started when he was very young. Mike’s Dad took him to his first air show at their hometown in Iowa at the age of 10. That show made an everlasting impression so deep that at 14, Mike rode his bike to the airport for two weeks straight and bugged the owner for a job washing airplanes and cleaning hangars just to be around airplanes. In school, Mike had a teacher tell him he would never be a pilot. His grades weren’t great and he got into trouble. Later that year a tutor gave him the book The Little Engine that Could, by Watty Piper. It changed his attitude and it helped Mike believe in himself. He traded his work of washing airplanes for flying lessons and received his Pilot’s License on his 17th birthday.
Forty years later, Mike has accumulated more than 25,000 flight hours and has qualified in more than 40 aircraft. He keeps a very busy schedule as a full time air show pilot flying the Lucas Oil stunt plane April through November.
“It is incredible to be part of the Lucas Oil Team. Their products as well as their integrity make what I do even more rewarding.”
It wasn’t easy getting where he is today, and as Mike would attest, he fought battles every day. Things didn’t always turn out the way he planned, but with each year he believes that one of the biggest impacts in his life and the lives around him was his attitude.
With everything he has experienced as a Pilot, Businessman, Husband and Father, Mike still admits to making mistakes every day. But he doesn’t want to miss the opportunity to pass on the same gift of encouragement and attitude that had been given to him by his Parents, Grandparents, 2nd Grade Tutor and all who believe in him and the dreams he still chases. That is why Mike started the “I Can” program in conjunction with his air show.
Mike’s air show career is a testimony of how dreams really can come true. As a 2002 U.S. National Aerobatic Champion, and a member of the 2004 U.S. Aerobatic Team, Mike has traveled the World with the same aircraft you will see him performing in at your air show. His excitement for aviation and willingness to share his experience with people around the country is nothing short of contagious in his attempt to help encourage kids of all ages, to not only dream, but to live their dreams and never give up!
