5 Baby Items Every List Says You Need, but You Actually Don’t BY DANIELLE TEIGEN On the Minds of Moms Managing Editor When it comes to the first year with a new baby, parents get a lot of advice. Friends and family are often quick to offer tips and tricks from their own experiences to new parents, and those nuggets of wisdom can be helpful. On the other hand, the internet also often inundates new parents with information about what they need to survive that first year with a new baby, and the truth is, a lot of those lists about “the essentials” are packed with unnecessary recommendations for items new parents probably won’t use and can certainly survive without. Here are 5 items that pop up on those “essentials” lists pretty frequently, but aren’t actually necessary when it comes to making

Baby food processor. Just use a regular blender or food processor you already have. The only nice thing about specialty baby food processors is that they often come with small containers for the fresh purees you just whipped up for your little one. The first year of a new baby’s life can be a wild ride, and if you aren’t finding levity in some of the craziest moments (like when the blender lid isn’t on and you now have pureed peas on every surface of your kitchen), things can get rough fast. Try not to let the stress overwhelm you when things don’t go as planned (because that will happen a lot during a baby’s first year) and simply laugh about it instead. 5. Love.
