THINKING THOUGHTS Hey Dudes and Dudettes, I hope my words find you well. As I begin another month with you, I am pleased to reflect upon the accomplishments The Formation Arts Society has achieved not only this past month but throughout the years. They were and remains to be wonderful experiences and it makes me feel really, really good. Yet, there are times when our fellowship wasn’t all that lucky and had to suck up our pride and face the failures we encountered. As most people and groups would, we felt pretty miserable as we felt denied our aspirations and dreams. In other words, it really sucked. Yet, as time went on, we began to feel better. Especially when new ideas on how to achieve the same or similar goals through more creative methods came into our thoughts. There are often times that we wound up experiencing something grander and more satisfying than we originally imagined. Sometimes we’re glad we failed so something even better was able to come along and, if we succeeded, we would never of had this opportunity. This was made noticeable to me very recently. The Forwardian Film Festival has been looking for a site to hold our 2017 event for quite some time. We made arrangements to hold it at certain venues but these plans fell through. It was as we almost given up hope of putting on our festival during this year did an inspiration come to me to ask The Antoine Dutot Gallery and Museum in Delaware Water Gap, PA to house the event after their season of exhibitions concluded in Octo ber. They readily agreed and we wound up with a wonderful venue in which we can not only show films to a large number of film lovers but also hold an art exhibition that we had to forfeit when making arrangements with the previous venues we negotiated with. This experience humbled me with gratitude as it reminded all of us that we’re not in charge of what The Forwardian Arts Society will accomplish. It is something higher that knows what we are meant to do in order to encourage, support, and love the arts and artists as our mission statement leads us to do. We need only to be open to the guidance we receive and do the foot work. Then, there is no failure. Well, that’s all from me for now. How are you? Please feel free to ask me any questions you may have about the publication, The Forwardian Arts Society, or anything at all. I promise to tell you everything. I would make a terrible spy. I look forward to hearing from you soon and I'll keep a good thought for you until then. Going Forwardian with you Paul Adam Smeltz The Forwardian Arts Society
