MARCH 2019

OMG. IT’S PAUL THINKING THOUGHTS Hey Dudes and Dudettes, I hope my words find you well. Well, we’re only two months into the new year and what a year it’s shaping up to be. The winter snows have made (what is hoped) their final appearances upon the Northeaster PA Landscape and warmer Springlike weather is on the horizon. The month of March will see the official return of Spring and Daylight Savings Time which will revitalize the soul and give us more illumination to live by. All this makes this and the following months something to really look forward to as those who bring the arts to the community will venture to outdo themselves in the most delightful ways. We hope to outdo ourselves in the coming months with festivals, concerts, exhibitions, and get togethers as 2019 progresses. We will be holding a Forwardian Art Lovers’ Gathering on Saturday March 16th at The Renegade Winery in Stroudsburg, PA beginning at 6pm. This will be an opportunity for those who love the arts to share their aspirations and appreciations of all things creative. We will share our dreams of what we would like to see happen in the coming year and begin the process of bringing those dreams into a reality that will inspire more dreams waiting to be fulfilled. Everyone who reads this is welcomed to attend and partake of the discussions that will occur. We look forward to seeing you there. In the meantime, we’re continuing to receive a nice number of original films for us to consider for inclusion in The 2019 Forwardian Film Festival. The excellent quality of the work con tinues to make it difficult to determine which films will be selected for the event. We’ll be receiving original cinematic works until June 1st and we invite you to join our group of Forwardian Film Pickers in order to help select the films that will be in this year’s festival and share in our joy of discovering the qualities of the outstanding work we have and will receive. All you need to do is email us at forwardian@hotmail.com with the words I want to be a Film Festival Picker in the Subject line and we’ll include you on the list of those who have access to the films we receive and have the ability to rate them. We hope you’ll join us in our enjoyable endeavors as we value your insights highly. As we conclude our message for this month’s issue of The Forwardian Gazette, we would like to share some news relating to another group of art lovers who are seeing some changes occur in their organization. The PoconoArts Council has been a part of the Northeastern PA Creative Community for over 30 years and has contributed to the well being of the arts during that time. They have initiated numerous programs, projects, and opportunities for the general public to enjoy and be inspired by the arts. However, the main source of their funding, Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts, re-granting program has changed its approach to its distribution guidelines and may lose relied-upon operating dollars from the state after 2019-20. As a result, the PoconoArts Council is beginning the process of restructuring themselves which will include relocating their business office and art exhibitions to more community-based locations. These include their Earth Speaks V Exhibition that will be held at the Dunning Art Gallery at NCC Monroe Campus in Tannersville, PA from April 6 th to May 28th, their Annual PoconoArts Members’ Exhibition that will be held in May at the Historic Dansbury Depot train station in East Stroudsburg, PA, and, starting in June, Pocono Arts Council exhibitions and artists’ receptions will be held at the prestigious Auradell Gallery at the Stroudsmoor Country Inn and Resort in Stroudsburg, PA. As they make the transition from who they are and who they will be as the continue to serve the community, the will be holding a number of gatherings in order for those who love the arts and admire all the things the PoconoArts Council does to share thoughts and insights regarding their future. These get togethers are listed below and we would like to encourage you to attend them as your voice would elevate the exploratory discussions greatly. We look forward to seeing you there . Let’s Art. Well, that’s all from me for now. How are you? Please feel free to ask me any questions you may have about this publication, The Forwardian Arts Society, or anything at all. I promise to tell you everything. I would make a terrible spy. I look forward to hearing from you soon and I'll keep a good thought for you until then. Going Forwardian with you Paul Adam Smeltz The Forwardian Arts Society
