‘Tis the Season for Non-Stop Sports at FOX Sports South

As we prepare to say goodbye to 2012 and celebrate a new year, it’s time to reflect on all of the positives over the last year at FOX Sports South, FOX Sports Carolinas, FOX Sports Tennessee and SportSouth. We opened 2012 with the return of the NBA, playoff runs by the Atlanta Hawks and Memphis Grizzlies, and exciting college basketball action. The Atlanta Braves became the talk of the Southeast this summer with a run to the playoffs, sparked by the final year of legend Chipper Jones. We were proud to take part in Jones’ final stretch, highlighted by a memorable farewell celebration at Turner Field, and a return to postseason play. Fall brought us intense college football games each week from the SEC, ACC, C-USA and Big 12. We also debuted our new Jeff Genthner series DRIVEN with episodes featuring South Carolina Head Coach Steve Spurrier, the Charlotte Bobcats and the Hawks. This Senior Vice President, winter has taken us full circle to another year of NBA action for the Hawks, Bobcats and Grizzlies – who are all off to hot starts – and General Manager some great college basketball games, which have included Kentucky, North Carolina, Duke and UCLA. And just this past November, our networks were recognized with a record 12 Emmy nominations in eight categories from the NATAS Midsouth Chapter, a great honor and recognition for our employees’ skill and dedication across so many disciplines. Congratulations to all of our nominees and the many other deserving honorees. In 2013, we look forward to another thrilling year at FOX Sports South, bringing our viewers across the south the best live games and original programming on television. From our team to yours, we wish you peace and happiness throughout the holiday season.

Ask The Talent

Bob Rathbun Atlanta Hawks Play-by-Play Hawks November MVP:

Al Horford. We are reminded nightly what we missed last year when he was hurt. He anchors the middle on defense, runs the floor and is a very good finisher.

Hawks Biggest Suprise:

Steve Martin Charlotte Bobcats Play-by-Play

Pete Pranica Memphis Grizzlies Play-by-Play

Bobcats November MVP:

Grizzlies November MVP: Mike Conley - His averaging close to 15 points and 6.5 assists a game.

Bobcats Biggest Suprise:

Grizzlies Biggest Suprise: There has been a dramatic improvement in three-point and free throw shooting in 2012.

This is a close race between Kemba Walker and Ramon Sessions...but give Walker the nod for his overall improvement over last season and a game-winning shot over Minnesota.

Unself play on offense and the ball hawking style on defense. Atlanta is 5rh in the league in assists and remains No. 1 in forcing turnovers.

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, the rookie is putting up numbers in all categories and led the Bobcats to first-ever win over the Mavericks on November 10.

Hawks Unsung Hero:

Bobcats Unsung Hero:

Grizzlies Unsung Hero: Quincey Pondexter - He is playing over 22 minutes off the bench for the Grizzlies.

Bobcats Biggest Game in December:

Grizzlies Biggest Game in December: This month, the Grizzlies will face a big test when they travel to Utah (12/15).

Zaza. Whether off the bench or starting, Pachulia has become one of the NBA’s best offensive rebounders.

Hawks Biggest Game in December:

They are all big but certainly a lot of eyes will gaze on the game at Miami (12/10) and OKC in Atlanta (12/19).

Byron Mullens gets this one. His big block and rebound in back-toback possessions vs. Washington were keys to the Bobcats overtime win.

The biggest game is hosting the defending champs, Miami (12/26).

Mercedes-Benz of South Charlotte - OPERATION: GOOD NEIGHBOR FOX Sports Carolinas and SportSouth would like to recognize our partner Mercedes-Benz of South Charlotte for their Operation: Good Neighbor program. This community service program was set up to help the people of New Jersey, who were affected by Hurricane Sandy. Mercedes-Benz of South Charlotte collected various items, including bottled water, blankets, clothing and pet food to be delivered to the hardest hit areas in New Jersey. A semi-truck departed the dealership on November 16 and made its final stop at The Shore Fellowship Churd in Egg Harbor Township, N.J. The church was a distribution point for families in that area and were overwhelmed with joy when receiving the donations. Mercedes-Benz of South Charlotte GM Tom Marcham (white shirt) is surounded by team collected items for Operation: Good Neighbors
