Winter Weather Can’t Stop FOX Sports Regional Networks You may have heard a thing or two about the snow in Atlanta this past week. While the weather certainly affected our daily commutes, the FOX Sports Regional Networks continued to bring live sporting events to snowed-in fans across all of our networks throughout the Southeast. The winter weather has us counting down the days until Atlanta Braves Spring Training in Florida. Our team will follow the Braves to Orlando as pitchers and catchers report on February 13th. Fans can look forward to watching our Atlanta Braves 2014 Season Preview premiering on March 1, as well as six live Spring Training games starting

Though baseball season is around the corner, we are in entering the heart of the NBA and NHL seasons. The Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Bobcats and Memphis Grizzlies are all in the playoff hunt on the hardwood, while the Carolina Hurricanes and Nashville Predators are skating their way in to playoff positions.

Dave Joerger The Memphis Grizzlies head coach was named the Western Conference Coach of the Month for Janauary.

Speaking of our friends at the Grizzlies, we congratulate the franchise for winning three statues at the 28th Annual Midsouth Emmy Awards after receiving a team-best six nominations by The Nashville/ Midsouth Chapter of The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS). February is also a very important time for college basketball teams around the country as they try and improve their résumé for postseason play. The FOX Sports Regional Networks will have plenty of top-notch conference basketball games from the ACC, SEC, Conference USA and Big East as we head down the final stretch of the season. We want to also congratulate our colleagues at FOX Sports for another great NFL season, culminating with a tremendous Super Bowl XLVIII telecast from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. The broadcast was watched by a record 111.5 million people, more than any television program in U.S. history.

FOX Sports Regional Networks Partnership Highlights The FOX Sports Regional Networks sales team continued to welcome new partners to its 2014 portfolio during the month of January. Captain D’s became FOX Sports South’s newest sponsor for multiple sports, while Georgia Natural Gas came on board with SportSouth as an Atlanta Hawks advertiser. With many locations throughout the southeast, Captain D’s will benefit from FOX Sports South’s expansive regional footprint. The popular restaurant chain will be featured in college, NBA and MLB programming throughout 2014. Georgia Natural Gas will focus their messaging on the Atlanta market and will use Hawks programming as a platform to reach sports fans during the winter months.

Around Town with the FOX Sports South Girls Canicka and Morgan had a very busy January. The duo made appearances at many events around Atlanta, including Atlanta Hawks games, a UFC fight and three Braves Caravan stops. Let’s take a look back at their month below:

FOX Sports Fan Express

Canicka and Morgan joined a group of Atlanta Hawks fans on the FOX Sports Fan Express to watch the Hawks take on the Indiana Pacers at Philips Arena on Wednesday, January 8th.

UFC Fight Night

Morgan and Canicka attended UFC Fight Night at the Gwinnett Center, which aired on FOX Sports 1, on Wednesday, January 15th. Brian Stann, our FOX Sports South ACC football analyst, was helping call the action for FOX Sports 1.

MLK Day of Service

As part of MLK Day of Service, the FOX Sports South Girls volunteered with a special group of After-School All-Stars students at Martin Luther King and Sylvan middle schools before attending the Atlanta Hawks vs. Miami Heat game. The After-School All-Stars enjoyed a VIP experience at the game, including a special Q&A session with members of the SportSouth Hawks telecast team and access to a Philips Arena party suite.

Braves Caravan

Canicka and Morgan were on hand for the Braves Country Caravan visit to Academy Sports + Outdoors in Newnan, Ga., on Tuesday, January 21st. The duo greeted fans, distributed special FOX Sports South dog tags and filmed a promotional spot.

The Boxer and the Preacher In early December, FOX Sports spoke with United States Ambassador and civil rights movement icon Andrew Young about the unique relationship between Martin Luther King, Jr. and Muhammad Ali for a special feature that aired nationally in NBA and NHL games leading up to Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. FOX Sports South was on hand during the interview with Ambassador Young to capture a behind-the-scenes look at the making of ‘The Boxer and the Preacher.’

SportSouth Airs Grizzlies’ Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Sports Legacy Symposium As part of the Memphis Grizzlies’ 12th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Day on Monday, January 20th, SportSouth aired their Sports Legacy Symposium live. The event, emceed by Grizzlies play-byplay analyst Pete Pranica, featured a discussion with Bernard King, Dikembe Mutombo and JoJo White. The former NBA stars shared their stories and experiences about their contributions to civil and human rights in the spirit of Dr. King, spanning across six decades. Alexander Semin Headed to Olympics Carolina Hurricanes right wing Alexander Semin was named to the Russian men’s ice hockey team for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia. He joins teammates Justin Faulk (USA), Andrej Sekera (Slovakia) and Tuomo Ruutu (Finland), who will represent their countries at the Winter Olympics, which begin February 7th.

Atlanta Hawks Players Recognized The Atlanta Hawks ended January with a flurry of good news. Center Pero Antic was selected to compete in the Rising Stars Challenge during NBA All-Star Weekend February 14-16 in New Orleans. Forward Paul Millsap earned his first career All-Star selection and will represent the Hawks on the Eastern Conference roster. Millsap also was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week when the league honored him on January 27th.

Curry Gets Bobblehead for Buzz City Nights Series As part of their Buzz City nights series, the Charlotte Bobcats will recognize former Charlotte Hornets guard and current SportSouth analyst Dell Curry during the February 8th game against San Antonio. The Bobcats will distribute 10,000 Curry bobbleheads to fans before the game.
