Introduction Dear sir/madam, in front of you is my portfolio. Thank you for taking the time to read and look at my work. I hope you will enjoy looking at it. Foxy Design is my small Brand that represents me, Roxanne van Weerden. The brand stands for my creativity and personality. The name Foxy Design came from the nickname I got when I was a little girl. The nickname Foxy got stuck. But now mostly my close friends and family use it. Especially my sweet mother. Other friends just call me Rox or Roxy. So my logo is readable as Roxy or Foxy Design. The website is at the moment a work in progress. But for more details on projects you can look on the website. Not all will be available yet. But soon there will be lots more added.

“By doing what you love, you inspire and awaken the hearts of others.” — Satsuki Shibuya About Roxanne van Weerden The best thing that ever happened to me was my mentor in the second year of a study for technical drawing. The study was designing machines and other products in the metal sector. I liked the designing part but not the rules. My mentor saw me drawing in class and introduced me to the study for graphic designing. I didn’t even know that the study existed! And when I saw it, I knew it was the place for me. Now that I attend the study, I am very eager. So eager that I keep researching and learning after school, with the help of the internet and skillshare. Because I am competitive and a fast learner, I learn from my mistakes and work with precise details. 5

De Stijl The Style celebrated their 100th anniversery and I created a poster and a yer as an assignment for school. Read more about my workproces here.

9

Introduction For the first schoolproject of the second year, we got the assignment to design for a Dutch artistic movement founded in 1917 called “De Stijl” or in englisch “The Style”. Wich celebrated to be 100 years old. The assignment itself contained research and to design a poster and flyer. For the research we learned a lot about The Style and researched and experimented in the style itself.

Moodboards So after a lot of research I created two moodboards. I found that the primary colors needed to be the colors for the end design. Because they just scream The Style. I also wanted to keep geometric shapes. After getting an idea of the mood I wanted, I continued with sketching and experimenting.

Sketches So for the sketches I looked at the excisting work of all the artist from The Style. I wanted to let elements of the artist to come forward in the design. So I started with some exemples from there magazine, logo, font and even their paintings. One of the thigns what I wanted in 10

the design was balance. The Style stands for balance and I wanted to give that my main priority. For more information about the work proces you can read the complete proces, including digital sketches, on my website www.foxydesign.nl.

Final Products So here are the products together with the final report made in the same style. You can see the report on my website www.foxydesign.nl, it is written in dutch. I got a high grade and I am happy that I was able to find balance in my design.

Speed up assignment From my school I got the opportunity to skip a year in the study for graphic design. I needed to design a magazine or book in some form with a report on exam demands. I had to present the project in front of the studys manager and two teachers. For the assignment I choose to make a brand book for my own brand Foxy Design.

15

Introduction For the speed up assignment I choose to make a brand book for my own brand Foxy Design. I wanted to limited my own options because I enjoyed changing it al the time. On this day this brand book is out of date allready. The style changed when I decided to change to website. At the moment it is still in production between my school work and traveling. That is why not everything is on the website yet.

Moodboard For the mood I looked at my website I made at that time. I also looked at the work I allready made in order to find my style. I also wanted to be able to play with a lot of colors.

Sketches So for the sketches I experimented a lot with different lay-outs. I found it important to find balance in the design. So for every page I sketched and even made digital version. Then I looked at wich version worked the best for me. That way I started creating the brandbook. 16

Final Product So after making the assignment next to all the other school work, I got to present it. The most nerve wrecking day in my life. Butt they were very happy with the result. And I got the phonecall in a couple of hours. I was able to skip one year in my study. I mostly skipped internships. But I a very happy that I made it.

Plastic Soup campaign School gave us an assignment to make a non-profet campaign. I decided to make a campaign for the plastic oating in the ocean. We had to make a poster and an out-of-the-box idea for on the street. Next to that we had a product of our own choice. You can wat I decided on in this chapter.

21

22

Introduction So for the campaign I decided to create not only a poster but also an interactive experience for the audience. To convince them to use less plastic bags. The idea was a tunnel with hanging plastic to feel how all the fishes in the sea would feel. And at that campaign there would be people handing out fabrique bags as replacements for the plastic bags. This way the audience would learn how they can help slow down the plastique soup.

Moodboard The mood was very important in this campaign. Not only was it important that the audience would feel the water but also the suffication from the plastique bags. But still did it need to feel balanced.

Sketches So for the sketches I experimented with layouts. I wanted to find the balance in the poster. For the main symbol, that would tie all the pieces together, I went for a clownfish. Not only a fish that every one knows. But at this time very populair because of the movie finding Dory.

23

Final Products So here you can see the final products for this campaign. In the centrum of Amsterdam would come the tunnel were the audience would walk through to feel how the fishes feel. The fabrique bags would get distributed on that day as well. The posters would tie it all together that week.

Colorful Loops For this assignment we had to design a house style for an excisting or starting company. I knew my mother wanted to start a side company for her hobby of creating crochette products. Like stuffed animals and blankets. She had no idea’s jet and gave me the freedom to create something that would fit her.

27

Introduction The products we in the end agreed on being made for Colorful Loops were a name, slogan, bussinescard, writingpaper and a envelope. She also needed a logo and some images to put on the etsyshop. The most important things she wanted that it matched her personality. Happy yet still soft.

Moodboard So in the mood board I wanted a happy yet still soft feeling. She loved neon colors. So I mixed neon with pastel colors.

28

Sketches With the sketches I started experimenting with the layouts of every product she wanted. I tried to find the balance but also make it so that people would recognice her style. While sketching I came with the idea to make stamps for the bussinescards, logo and one that would line up and be borderless for the back of the writingpaper but also other packaging. I designed a pattern for the stamps and then hand carved the stamps myself in linoleum.

29

30

Final Products Here you can see some pictures and mockups of the products with the final designs. With the hand carved stamps she could now combine her colors with the products she wanted. With pink being the main color. I got a really high grade and a very happy mother.

Cv design Next to my school I had the change to help some people with designing their curriculum vitae for a more profesional look. I sat down with them and made something that suited their personality.

33

Chance to help When they came to me with their curriculum vitae, it looked like a standart word file. Just a simple list that wouldn’t stand out. They asked me for help to stand out when they would applied for a new job. I gladly helpt them. We sat down and started talking. I came with some ideas and they gave there feedback. That way we came with an awesome result that rocked their interviews. I love to help people complete their goals. And in this way I could.

34

Commisions I allways like to do little commisions like designing little cv’s, posters for a soccer club or little things for my moms swimming pool.

35

36

Art Next to all the designign I really love to create other projects. I love drawing and painting with watercolors. I also like experimenting with different mediums. I teach myself a lot next to school with for example skillshare or phlearn.

Bullet Journal With watching the trend arise of bullet journaling, it made me very curious and I had to try it. The first few months, I tried a layout that had enough space for me at that time. But when it got a bit bussy I switched to a weekly layout. I will keep experimenting with the layouts. Just to find things that work for me and what doesn’t.
