For the month of December, our club signed up to volunteer at the annual Rose Float decorating in Pasadena. Our shift was on Tuesday December 30th from 4 pm to 11 pm. We had to meet at Bolsa Grande High School at 1:30 pm and we returned around 12:30. The weather was extremely cold that day and very rainy as well but the event was still as fun as ever. Our club was broken up into groups and assigned different floats to work on. One group got to work on the City of Hope float by preparing flowers that were to be glued onto the float. Another group was able to actually put flowers on the Donating Life Float and so on. This event is such a memorable one because we are able to see what can be accomplished with the help of around seven thousand volunteers and thousands of hours well spent! April Tanaguchi, Marina On December 29th, Fountain Valley Key Club attended the annual Rose Float Decorating. It was my third year going and I have to say it was the best one ever! I sat next to Vinh on the bus and all we did was play games with the people around us. At Pasadena, I got to cut flowers with Teryn, Frank, Jenn and Danny. It was really fun to cut flowers with plastic scissors. When it was time for dinner, I got my first meal and finished it as quickly as possible and then I got seconds. After dinner, we all got back to work. I walked around checking up on my members after a while to see how they were doing. It was really nice to see my members have fun on top of the floats and painting! I hope that all my members loved this event and look forward to it next year! I was once inspired by this very event to continue on with my Key Club journey, so I hope the underclassmen are able to take something from this experience. I hope that our members see that Key Club is a part of something bigger than just a high school club. Kelton Do, Fountain Valley

past events

Conclave was a major event where Key Clubbers gather ed at Orange Coast College, in order to elect our 2015-2016 Lieutenant Governor. Personally, I thought it was a eye-opening experience, being able to see all the future leaders in our region step up and give it their all to prove why they love and why they serve in Key Club. I was an audience member, and I was able to see the direct influence that the candidates were showing. It was fun to be able to be a part of such a prestige event, and I would love to come again next year. Congrats to the elects! Nicole Nguyen, Mater Dei I started of Conclave not knowing what it had in store. To be honest, I didn’t even think I had the selfconfidence enough to walk in front of everyone, and present why I wanted to run for the 2015-2016 Lieutenant Governor of Division 4 West. I cam e in there not expecting that I’d make it far. Honestly, walking up to the podium was the scariest moment of my life. When I had said my speech, I felt a new surge of confidence in me. The audience members did not scare me, and I realized that no matter what happened, I knew that the division I served would always respect and support me throughout everything. As I entered caucus, it was nerve-wrecking, having to answer questions right of the spot. However, I put my heart and soul into what I was saying, and I believed it paid off. The longest moment of my life was waiting for all the other candidates to finish. However, when they announced who made it to nomination conference, I was glad to hear that I had made it. I entered the room again, and there went another 3 minutes of caucusing. Although I did not win, I was proud to say that this was a good learning experience and that I had took many lessons from it. I learned to believe in myself more, and I learned that Key Club isn’t always about your age or your position, but its about the impact you make on the people around you. Frank Le, Mater Dei
