On October 26th, The division attended another Surf City 10k event. I had to arrive at the senior center at 6AM. When I got there, a shuttle bus took up took us to the Seapoint location where we would be working. We were given free t-shirts and were asked to set up tables and fill cups with water. We waited about 20 minutes before we saw the runners come. All 30 of us passed out water to the runners and cheered them on. We could see the smile on their faces when they saw our quirky and cute cheers. The event ended around 9 and everyone took cute pictures at the end! Kelton Do, Fountain Valley Surf City 10k was a success! Key Clubbers showed up before the crack of dawn ready for service. It was a beautiful sight to see. As the sun rose, runners came rushing towards us like a stampede. Members filled up hundreds of cups with water, distributing them to the participants, while cheering them on. Watching the runners was quite entertaining, they wore costumes such as Superman, Wonder Woman, Olaf the Snowman, and much more! This event was truly an amazing experience, something that I’d definitely want to do more! Justine Junio, Huntington Beach Division 4 West Key Club participated at the Huntington Beach Surf City 10k on October 26, 2014. Many of us were hesitant about waking up early to go to this event, but overall, it was worth it! We were delegated the task of passing out water to all the marathon runners, and it was fun! Many of the runners were dressed in costumes and we helped motivated them by doing cheers and writing positive messages on the sidewalk! I am glad I was able to be a part of such an amazing event! Although it was tiring, I thought the smiles and the laughter we got made up for it! I hope I can be a part of the next Surf City Marathon, because this can easily be my favorite event! Andrew Nguyen, Fountain Valley

The October Division Council Meeting was on October 25th from 4PM-6PM. Fountain Valley had 57 members in attendance. Christina talked about past events and asked two members from Fountain Valley to give a brief recap. I was very proud of both Vikki Nguyen and Vinh Nguyen for being able to speak in front of the division about past events. Next was upcoming events such as Fall Rally and Spirit Nights. Christina was very elaborate on the Fall Rally rules and regulations. She also talked about the Spirit Session and Spirit Nights. Kelton Do, Fountain Valley After the October DCM, the spirit coordinators divided the division into three groups by schools. Brian Nguyen taught all 10 cheers to our group in 2 hours. All of our members were active participants who tried to memorize the cheers. Many of them volunteered to recite the cheers on their own which made me very proud of them! When all three groups came back together as one, we all went through the cheers together. I really enjoyed this spirit night because I could see many of my new members growing out their shell and becoming more confident! Kelton Do, Fountain Valley Division 04 West had our November DCM the day before Fall Rally. We talked about our upcoming events, and went over the bus details for Fall Rally. Christina also gave us an inspirational speech that fired us up for winning the spirit stick! In the meantime, we played ice-breaker games to pas the time, and to make new friends. When we were done, we went straight to our 3 groups, with a spirit coordinator in charge of a group, and started practicing the cheers. I could notice how loud the FV Rec Center was getting! In the end, we started demonstrating proper spirit battle etiquette, and reenacted how it would look like at Fall Rally. I was definitely pumped for Fall Rally! Frank Le, Mater Dei
