Patients are seen by appointment, or for acute illness, walk-ins are accepted. Certi ed registered nurse practitioners at Mission Medical are Melanie Malone, who owns the business, Carolyn Wilson and Jean Stowe. Malone said she and Stowe became interested in opening a clinic after several years of being in partnership together. After opening, they added Carolyn Wilson as a partner, with additional medical services provided by Dr. Jeffrey Chenyi. “We wanted to be able to provide care for our patients that included spending more time with them and not feeling pressured to see a certain number of people,” explained Malone. “We are a nurse practitioner-owned clinic, and that’s something that distinguishes us from other clinics.” Mission Medical has been in business ve years and has 10 employees, including medical assistants, nurses and office staff. Malone explained nurse practitioners are trained to assess patients, order and interpret diagnostic tests, make diagnoses and initiate and manage treatment plans, including prescribing medication. “Three nurse practitioners diagnose and treat patients at the office. They provide a high level of care, offering a comprehensive, whole-patient perspective to health care,” explained Malone, adding that Mission Medical can also provide service in Spanish. She said the patients are their priority. “We strive to give the very best care we can to each person who entrusts us to help them” – a commitment Mission Medical is passionate about. “I have enjoyed working with Melanie for the past 24 years,” said Angelique Madden, ultrasound technologist, AMS Imaging/Little
Blessings 4D imaging, “ rst at Russellville Hospital, with Dr. Santiago, and now at Mission Medical. "The NPs and other employees are always willing to listen and work to provide the best care for our patients. It is more like having a family than co-workers, and patients think so, too.” Office manager Carolee Cosby agreed the staff are like family, noting they love and respect each other. “This spills over into our patients because family is very important to us, and we want to treat your family like we would want ours to be treated.” She said some of their employees started out with them as students and have gone on to become LPNs and RNs and keep working at Mission Medical. Wilson said she’s happy they added her to the practice. “I have been friends with Jean and Melanie for years, and I am happy we are all working together now.” Medical assistant Elisa Tennyson described the clinic as welcoming and family-oriented. “The patients love the nurse practitioners, which really speaks to how much they care for this community and their patients,” she said. “It really re ects in the level of care provided, and our patients see that.” In addition to Mission Medical, the office recently opened Bella Rejuvenation to provide IV vitamin therapy.
