TheRussellvilleHighSchool FutureBusinessLeadersof AmericaChapterhadthree studentsrecentlycompete attheAlabamaFBLAState Competition.“Theydidan excellentjobrepresenting RHS,”saidtheclub’ssponsor, Dr.AnnaKayHolland. TheAlabamaFBLAState LeadershipProgramprovides leadershiptraininginorder todevelopcompetent,selfassuredbusinessleadersand

Whiletherearemany upsanddownsaswemake ourwayfromonedayto another,rememberingto stopandfindthesmiles (andlaughs!)canmake thejourneymuchlighter. I’venoticedIoftenhave noideasuchamoment willhappen,soinaddition
toprovidingasmileor laugh,it’salsoanice surprise.
Whileattendinga mentalhealthawareness dayinPhilCampbell atNorthwestShoals CommunityCollegelast week,Iheldapuppy.I’m suresome,perhapseven mostofyou,havealready donethis,perhapsmany times;however,itwas afirstforme.Shewas sweetandsoftandwarm, anunexpecteddelight inmyday,evensleeping inmyarmsformuch ofthetimeIheldher.I felthertinychestrising andfallingassheslept andloungedcontentedly andfeltherlittleheart beating–averypleasant experience.
Nofolks,Idonothavea newpetinmyhousehold, butrestassuredthislittle sweetiehasalovinghome. Herhumancaretakerwas graciousenoughtoletme enjoyhereight-week-old puppywhilesheworked onaprojectattheevent. Ah,houseplants –orinthiscase,office plants.Myfriendand co-workerrecentlygave meatinysucculentin anadorablehedgehog planter.Determinednot tokillit,Itriedtomake suretowaterit,butnot toomuch.Afewweeks later,Icommentedto herhowpleasedIwasto havemanagedtokeepit wateredcorrectly,onlyto bemetwithanamused laugh–firsthers,thenmy
own,asIlearneditwas,in fact,fake.Well,wehaveto laughatourselves,don’t we?Itreallyistheperfect gift,aslongasIkeepit somewhereit’ssurenot tobeknockedoff. Weallgetbusyand canfeelthere’slittleto notimefor“frivolity andmirth,”butfinding thingswecanappreciate inthemidstofthechaos reallymakesitallso mucheasier.Inthisarea, becontentedlyeasyto amuseratherthanhard toplease.Noteveryday isperfectbyanymeans, but“perfectmoments” dopresentthemselves, sodon’tforgettotakea littletimealongtheway toenjoywhatisrightin frontofyou.
