Mervin Lee “Merv Stutzman of Leesburg, Florida passed away on Monday, September 7, 2015 at the age of 78 years. He was born in Kent, Ohio. In 1943, at the age of 6 years old, he moved to this area and attended the Mount Dora Christian Home & Bible School. In 1955 Merv moved to Maryland where he met his wife of nearly 58 years, Mary. Merv worked in the concrete business since he was 14 years old, when he started working with his dad. He was a retired foreman. He loved to go hunting and crabbing when he lived in Maryland. He and Mary moved to Leesburg in 2006. He spent most of his free time golfing and fishing. Merv is remembered and will be dearly missed by his wife, Mary; daughters, Sherry Main of Mount Airy, Maryland and Karen Harmon and her husband, George of Leesburg; son Keith Stutzman and his wife, Heather of New Market, Maryland; brother, Cletus Stutzman and his wife, Carolyn of Eustis, Florida; sisters, Shelby Albridge and her husband, Steve of Leesburg, Marlene Taylor and her husband, Les of Ellicott City, Maryland and Darlene Hart and her husband, Ken of Ferndale, Maryland; grandchildren, Heather Main, Joshua Main, Jeffrey Isaac, Allen Isaac, Taylor Stutzman, Brayden Stutzman and Grayson Stutzman and great grandchildren, Mason McCracken, Adelyn Isaac and Brody Main. A memorial service was held on Friday, September 11 at 3:30 pm at the Orange Avenue Church of Christ in Eustis, FL. It is with tremendous sadness that we report the death of Diana Bay’s father, Gaylord Gene Swarms, 81 years old of Decatur, Illinois. He passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2015, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur, surrounded by his family. Funeral services to celebrate the life of Gaylord Swarms were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 12, 2015, at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home, Decatur, Illinois. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association. It is with great sadness and much reluctance that we announce the death of Rowena Delidle, 95 year old maternal grandmother of Chris Beech. Rowena lived in a nursing home here in Eustis. Chris is leaving immediately for the funeral in Tennessee. There are several family members and friends who live locally, so the family is planning a memorial service at Orange Avenue on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Orange Avenue Church of Christ. The recent scan of Roberta Farley’s liver show that her liver cancer has grown. Friday, September 11, 2015 Roberta will begin a new chemo treatment. Her brother Steve Moran had emergency colon surgery to remove a cancerous mass, and he is also in Waterman Hospital, Room #544. Local Evangelism– Phil Barnes (philbarnes@reagan.com) The school year is well underway and opportunities to serve the students and families at Eustis Heights Elementary School are abundant. They are in need of adults to help in and out of the classroom. If you are interested in being a volunteer and/or mentor there is a very important meeting coming up. It will be held at the Eustis Heights Media Center, on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at 9:30 am. If you have any questions please contact Adrian Boyd at 352-357-2447. This past Thursday Orange Avenue fed the students and family of Eustis Heights Elementary. This outreach is one of several ways that we are trying to reach our community and serve them in the name of Christ. If you have had the opportunity to help at Eustis Heights or at our Mobile Food Pantry you know that connections and friendships are being made that we hope will lead to friends becoming brothers and sisters in Christ. Our last Love Offering was designated for use in our Eustis Heights outreach. You gave a total of $4,600 over our weekly budget. This amount means a lot in what it can do. But I love how it’s a statement of the generosity of our Orange Avenue family. I am moved by your generosity, and I am proud to serve as your preacher.
