Je suis un "day-trader", ce qui veut dire que j'achète des actions (des "options", dans mon cas) sur le stock market, que je conserve pour quelques secondes, minutes, ou heures selon les cas, avant de les revendre. Le but étant de maximiser le profit.

Originaire de Marseille, j'ai décidé de tenter ma chance et de poursuivre le rêve américain en 2008. Je suis finalement arrivé aux États-Unis en 2012, à Dallas, Texas. Lorsque j'avais quatorze ans, mon père a voyagé à Montréal pour reconnecter avec une partie de sa famille qu'il avait perdu de vue depuis plus de vingt ans. Puis, il s'est rendu en Floride pour quelques jours. Quand il est revenu à la maison, il m'a dit : "Mon fils, les États-Unis, c'est un pays pour toi !". Je n'avais aucune idée de ce que représentaient vraiment les États-Unis à l'époque, à part ce que j'en avais vu dans les films. J'ai donc fait un tas de recherches et je suis tombé amoureux de ce pays et de sa mentalité.

Originally from Marseille, I decided to try my luck and pursue the American dream in 2008. I finally arrived in the United States in 2012, in Dallas, Texas. When I was fourteen, my father traveled to Montreal to reconnect with a part of his family that he had lost sight of for over twenty years. Then he went to Florida for a few days. When he came home, he said to me, "Son, the United States is a country for you!". I had no idea what the United States was really like at the time, other than what I had seen in the movies. So I did a lot of research and fell in love with this country and its mentality. After my BTS, at the age of 20, I decided to go alone to Montreal to improve my English, with the idea of moving to the United States. I took my

Après mon BTS, à l'âge de vingt ans, j'ai donc décidé de partir seul à Montréal afin de perfectionner mon anglais, dans l'idée de déménager ensuite aux États-Unis. J'ai pris mon billet aller pour Montréal, sans savoir vraiment ce qui m'attendait. J'y suis finalement resté cinq ans.

J'ai travaillé dans le milieu du fitness pendant de nombreuses années, notamment en tant que directeur de salles de sports et entraîneur privé, à Montréal, Dallas, Miami et Los Angeles.

Durant la pandémie, les salles de sport ayant fermé, j'ai réalisé un changement de carrière drastique et j'ai commencé le trading. Je suis rapidement devenu un véritable passionné, retrouvant le même mental dans la pratique du trading que celle du sport.

été facile. J'ai changé plusieurs fois de travail, j'ai eu beaucoup d'échecs, mais qui ont finalement été des leçons et m'ont permis d'apprendre. Je suis fier aujourd'hui de dire que je suis citoyen américain, j'ai ma propre société et je vis à Los Angeles avec ma femme et ma petite fille de un an. La seule chose qui a fait que j'ai réussi est que je n'ai jamais abandonné mon rêve !

During the pandemic, as gyms closed, I made a drastic career change and started trading. I quickly became truly passionate, finding the same mental attitude in trading as in sports.

En France, on te dit plutôt que tu vas échouer, personne ne croit en toi, on te dit de ne rien tenter car tu risques de tout perdre… C'est cette opposition des discours qui fait toute la différence ! Les États-Unis sont vraiment une terre d'opportunités, où tout est possible. Ce n'est pas pour rien qu'on parle du "American Dream"...

I never had the idea of returning to France, even if it was not always easy. I changed jobs several times, I had many failures, but in the end they were lessons and allowed me to learn. Today I am proud to say that I am an American citizen, I have my own company and I live in Los Angeles with my wife and my one year old daughter. The only thing that made me successful is that I never gave up on my dream!

Mon conseil à tous ceux qui rêvent de s'expatrier ?

Je pense que l'erreur de quelqu'un qui a un rêve n'est pas d'échouer, c'est de ne même pas tenter. Alors je dirais : "Foncez !". N'hésitez pas. Si j'avais attendu les conditions parfaites pour venir aux États-Unis, je serais encore en France. En revanche, renseignez-vous bien sur où aller, comment, quoi faire, et surtout sur les conditions d'immigration. C'est un pays formidable, mais loin d'être parfait. Pas de sécurité sociale comme en France, les emplois sont généralement "at will", pas de CDI, on peut vous renvoyer après deux jours ou au contraire après vingt ans dans la même boîte sans aucun préavis !

If you mess up, you learn from your mistakes and you start over. In France, people tell you that you will fail, nobody believes in you, they say not to try anything because you risk losing everything... It is this opposite attitude that makes all the difference! The United States is really a land of opportunities, where everything is possible. It's not without reason that we talk about the "American Dream"...

My advice to all those who dream of expatriation?

Un point sur le stock market:

En un seul jour (le 13 septembre 2022), le stock market, en l'occurrence le S&P500, Dow Industrials et le Nasdaq, a connu l'une des pires chutes depuis le 11 juin 2020. Le SP500 a fermé avec 4.3% de moins en une seule journée! Pour vous donner une idée, lorsque le stock market chute à 7%, Wall Street doit faire un court-circuit du stock market au complet et le stopper pendant quinze minutes…

Mais qu’est ce cela veut dire quand le SP500, Nasdaq et Dow chutent?

I think the mistake of someone who has a dream is not to fail, it is to not even try. So I would say: "Go for it!". Don't hesitate. If I had waited for the perfect conditions to come to the US, I would still be in France. However, make sure you know where to go, how, what to do, and especially about the immigration conditions. It is a great country, but far from perfect. There is no social security like in France, jobs are generally "at will", no permanent contract, you can be fired after two days or after twenty years in the same company without any notice!

Once you have weighed the pros and cons, go for it!

Depuis l'enfance, Adriana est actrice. En 2016, elle décide de quitter son poste d'ingénieure informatique chez Twitter afin de suivre sa passion pour le cinéma. Et elle ne tarde pas à se lancer également dans la réalisation et l'écriture de ses propres projets. Elle écrit, finance et réalise trois court-métrages, dont COMIN' IN HOT, dans lequel elle incarne le personnage principal. Son travail présente des personnages féminins complexes, et allie humour noir et narration immersive.

COMIN' IN HOT, c'est avant tout une histoire de femme(s). Celle de Mia, héroïne discrète qui tente d'échapper à un mari autoritaire en s'évadant dans son monde intérieur, qu'on ne saurait dissocier de celle d'Adriana, sa créatrice, à la fois devant et derrière la caméra. Le film est également porté par quatre autres femmes : Martine Melloul en tant que productrice, la compositrice Yael Bennamour, Sena Bonnet comme directrice de la photographie, et Adeline Descamps au montage. Fréquence J : Comment es-tu passée d'actrice à réalisatrice ? Qu'est-ce qui t'a poussé à réaliser ?

Je veux que COMIN' IN HOT ouvre la voie à d'autres femmes cinéastes pour qu'elles jouent avec l'étrange et l'inattendu.

Adriana Vecchioli : J'ai débuté en tant que réalisatrice il y a quelques années, alors que je travaillais comme actrice. J'étais frustrée par les personnages que je jouais, que je trouvais réducteurs par rapport aux rôles que je souhaitais incarner. J'ai donc commencé à écrire les personnages que je voulais jouer, et une chose en entraînant une autre, je me suis retrouvée à coréaliser mon premier court-métrage, HOW FAR

Lorsque j'ai eu l'idée de COMIN' IN HOT, je me suis demandée qui pourrait le réaliser de manière conforme à ma vision. Il est rapidement devenu évident que ce ne pouvait être que moi. Aujourd'hui, j'apprécie beaucoup la réalisation,

mais avant tout pour créer des personnages et des histoires qui m'inspirent en tant qu'actrice.

FJ : COMIN' IN HOT aborde de multiples thèmes… Quels sont-ils ?

AV : Le court-métrage raconte l'histoire d'une jeune femme discrète et introvertie, prisonnière d'un mariage au sein duquel elle se sent oppressée, qui rêve de tout lâcher et disparaitre dans le désert au volant de sa voiture afin de s'abandonner à son obsession secrète (que l'on ne révèlera pas, il faut voir le film !).

Il y a donc plusieurs thèmes abordés : les femmes, la découverte de soi-même, de son corps et de son désir, la liberté…

FJ : Comment est né ce projet et quelles ont été les différentes étapes de sa création?

AV : L'histoire de COMIN' IN HOT s'est imposée à moi en janvier 2021, alors que j'allais retrouver une amie pour un café. J'ai eu une vision de la scène finale du film : cette femme fugitive, qui trouve refuge dans un lieu insolite… Et je me suis

I now make room for Adriana's words as she introduces us to her ambitious, surprising and inspiring cinema.

FJ : How did you go from acting to directing? What made you decide to direct?

AV : I started taking the director’s cap a few years ago, while working as an actress. I was frustrated by the characters I was playing, which I found reductive compared to the roles I wanted. So I started writing the characters I wanted to portray, and one thing leading to another, I ended up co-directing my first short film, HOW FAR

When I had the initial idea for COMIN’ IN HOT, I wondered who could direct it in alignment with my vision. It quickly became evident that it could only be me. And now, I enjoy directing very much, but

Concernant le financement, après plusieurs tentatives peu fructueuses, je me suis tournée vers le crowdfunding. J'ai lancé une campagne sur Kickstarter qui a eu un succès phénoménal et a battu des records de financement de courtmétrages. C'est à partir de ce moment-là que le projet est devenu concret. Après quelques mois de pré-production avec mes équipes, nous avons tourné du 3 au 5 décembre 2021. Trois jours intensifs, mais magiques !

Aujourd'hui, le film est pratiquement complété. Différentes versions ont été réalisées pour des festivals, pour lesquels COMIN' IN HOT est en compétition. On approche enfin du "director's cut", la version finale.

FJ : Pourquoi avoir choisi de tourner à Palm Springs?

AV : Je viens de France, donc le désert n'est pas un paysage aussi commun

AV : The short film tells the story of a quiet young woman, prisoner of a marriage in which her light is dimmed, who dreams of letting go of it all and disappearing into the desert, driving her dream car to surrender to a secret splashy obsession

FJ : How was this project born and what are the different steps?

AV : The story of COMIN’ IN HOT came to me in January 2021, while I was meeting a friend for a coffee. I was struck by a vision of the final scene: this fugitive woman, who finds refuge in an unusual place… And I wondered, who is this woman, how did she end up here? So I wrote the script backwards, trying to figure out the secret of my character, Mia. About fundraising, after several unsuccessful attempts, I turned to crowdfunding. I launched a campaign on Kickstarter that was

FJ : Quel est ton but avec COMIN' IN HOT, et qu'espères-tu pour ce film ?

AV : J'espère divertir mon public, je veux que le public quitte la salle avec le cœur plus léger et le sourire aux lèvres.

Pour moi il était également important d'offrir la vision d'une femme, de ses aspirations et de son plaisir de manière différente.

Now, the film is almost complete. Different versions have been made for festivals, for which COMIN’ IN HOT is in competition. We are almost at the “director’s cut”, the final version.

FJ : Why did you choose to shoot in Palm Springs?

FJ : COMIN' IN HOT est résolument féministe. Dirais-tu que tu es engagée dans la cause féministe? Quelle place cela a dans ta vie et ta carrière?

AV : I am from France, so the desert is not a common landscape! The first time I came to Palm Springs, I knew I wanted to shoot a movie there. The desert is very cinematic. You just need to turn on your camera to get beautiful images. I also wanted to make the desert a character of my story. Its wide space symbolizes Mia’s new freedom.

FJ : What is your goal with COMIN’ IN HOT, what do you hope for the film?

AV : I hope to entertain people, to give them happiness during the thirteen minutes of the film. I want the audience to leave the theater with a lighter heart and a smile on their face.

Je n'aime pas trop me définir comme "féministe" comme si c'était un choix, même s'il ne fait aucun doute que je le suis. Dans ma vision, chaque personne est par défaut en faveur de tous les autres êtres humains (donc féministe). Ce qui est un choix, c'est de ne pas l'être.

Je pense que tant que toutes les femmes ne sont pas libres, aucune de nous ne peut l'être. Donc pour moi, c'est un combat extrêmement important, qui n'est pas individuel mais bien universel.

Les femmes sont une source d'inspiration constante.

FJ : Quels sont tes futurs projets ?

AV : Le prochain film sur lequel je travaille s'intitule MERMAIDS. Il s'agit d'un long métrage, une sorte de thriller psychédélique.

Comme dans COMIN' IN HOT, il est toujours question de quête de soi et de découverte.

Le terme "langue maternelle" y prend tout son sens. Il y a dès sa dénomination une affiliation à la "mère" et à ce qu’elle incarne de sécurisant et réconfortant.

La langue maternelle n’est pas simplement un outil de communication, elle est le repère, le fondement de l’identité du sujet. Celle qui inculque une culture, des racines sociales et familiales. Elle est comme le disait Anne Dufourmantelle "ce que nous avons de plus intime mais aussi de plus commun [une langue qui ...] commande notre rapport à l’autre et au monde".

Au travers de cette rencontre fortuite, je repense alors à tous mes amis expatriés qui sans le vouloir se retrouvent à créer dans leur pays d’adoption des liens très forts avec d’autres expatriés. Je me rappelle

Une quête inconsciente qui viendrait apaiser toutes angoisses possiblement liées à cette séparation que crée l’expatriation. "L’autre expatrié" deviendrait cet objet, cet espace transitionnel qui

There would be something of an unconscious (or conscious) need to recreate roots where there are none, a "new family".

Thus, the expatriate subject tends to reduce the otherness that migratory reality provokes. Uprooted, separated from the well-known, we will then go in search of the familiar: someone who speaks the same mother tongue as us, who comes from the same country of origin... An unconscious quest that would come to soothe all the anxieties

With a degree in marketing and communication and a state sailing certificate, Christophe embarks for the French Antilles in 1994. He stays there for five years, during which he works as a skipper, before deciding to sail to New Zealand. On his way, he makes a stop in Miami, which should only be a stopover. In 2008, Christophe installs Miami Kiteboarding on a beach in Crandon Park, and it becomes the biggest school, with the biggest kitesurfing space, in all of Florida.

Creating the school is one of the most rewarding accomplishments of my life. Every morning, I don't feel like I'm going to work, but rather to share my passion.

I ask Christophe about his choice of expatriation. Why Florida in particular?

In spite of everything, I dare to ask him if he ever thinks about going back to France. He pauses, thinks, and then tells me that twenty years after arriving in Miami, he still feels the same energy and the same passion, and doesn’t think of himself in France, even though he appreciates it for vacation.

For the anecdote, one event in particular launched the reputation of Christophe and Miami Kiteboarding in the world of water sports. A chaotic crossing, a true epic of modern times. In 2001, Miami Kiteboarding is contacted by Red Bull, which wishes to create an unprecedented kite event. The concept? To reach Cuba by kiteboarding from Miami. A distance never equaled before. Christophe immediately accepts the challenge. In six months, the crossing is organized. Five kiteboarders of different nationalities are selected: one French, one Austrian, two Americans and one English.

In December 2022, they cross Miami-Cuba in kitesurf and establish a record which is registered in the Guiness World Record. The distance is one hundred nautical miles, never seen before. And the crossing is not done in the best conditions. Indeed, that day, the wind is raging and the waves reach

Quel rapport entretiens-tu avec les États-Unis et la Californie, où tu as grandi?

Née a Paris, j'ai grandi à Santa Monica de mes un an à mes cinq ans, puis je suis partie à Paris. Mais j'ai eu la chance d'être passionnée par la musique; sans créer, je ne me sens pas moi-même, un peu perdue, alors j'ai arrêté mes études de puéricultrice pour commencer des cours de musique.

You have launched the creation of kimonos. Can you tell us how this adventure was born?

During the pandemic, I wanted to make a kimono for myself out of a blanket and vintage dresses. I liked the idea of continuing to create, of taking something and breaking it down to give it a new identity, a new path... I met my partner Ovlac, who is a photographer, with whom we created the brand One Peace Revelation, which is now sold in concept stores around the world. It's quite a magical story, which we enjoy every day. For me, it's a bit like composing a melody, except that it's from colorful and unique fabrics.

A word to the French expatriates in the United States?
