Hello and Congratulations for taking this significant step towards your menopause health journey. Menopause can be very confusing because there’s lots of conflicting advice out there? Menopause causes changes to your body that can seriously spoil your enjoyment of life? It would be great to get back in control of your menopause symptoms and feel fabulous again?
If you’re feeling confused about menopause, join the gang. You’re not alone! You see, the world we grew up in and the things we were taught are now outdated. It’s not really your fault if you’re feeling bewildered. And it's not surprising because the kind of advice we were given was established so long ago and way back then women lives were completely different. Women were mainly housewives and anything to do with talking about ‘women’s problems’ was taboo. That’s why what we’ve learned about menopause no longer works with our current lifestyles.

We all know how fast the world is changing. You have got this far and done an amazing job, but unless you learn something new it's not going to get any easier. Don’t get me wrong, the advice that was given to us from previous generations, was the best advice they had at that time. For most us it sort of worked but maybe now we don’t need to suffer anymore from these symptoms that past generations accepted as the normal.

Let’s get started! For simplicity, let's just call the existing way of thinking about menopause:
Menopause Wisdom Version 1 In Menopause Wisdom version 1, we learned that our menopause experience is defined by our genetics which means that if your mother had a bad time, so will you. If you’re experiencing brain fog, poor sleep, relentless hot flushes, unwanted weight gain and the mood rollercoaster well maybe you’re thinking it’s just part of it all. You may even be thinking there is not much you can do about it. You either put up with it and suffer, or head off to the doctors. You already know, all the doctor is going to say, more often than not, is do you want HRT, antidepressants or sleeping tablets? That’s a limited approach and It can leave you feeling unsupported, isolated and depressed.

Menopause doesn’t have to be like that at all. It’s all about understanding your own unique experience so that you can tailor your approach specifically for you to achieve the best results. Nobody understands your body like you do. Nobody understands your life like you do. But that doesn’t mean having to do this all on your own. You have lots of options and you can have all the support you need to lead your best life. So let’s call this:
Menopause Wisdom Version 2 The Upgrade! It's a Smarter Menopause where you take back control of your life by understanding what’s happening at menopause and the symptoms you’re experiencing. You learn simple changes to what you eat, how you exercise and what you think in order to achieve lasting, positive results. By understanding the hormonal changes and the bewildering words used to describe menopause, you will be better equipped to discover your options and actions to improve your experience. And all you need is the system that takes you from Menopause Wisdom Version 1 to Menopause Wisdom Version 2. But before we cover this transformation over to a Smarter Menopause, let's have a quick look at what’s going on in your body at menopause. In Menopause version 1 you may not have been prepared for the symptoms you started to experience at the beginning of your menopause journey. You may have felt you were going mad or getting prematurely old or both!
Menopause can start with brain fog and poor memory, not being able to make a quick decision. You may find yourself feeling exhausted all of the time. Or having trouble getting off to sleep because your mind just won’t switch off and you are feeling anxious for no apparent reason. Then there’s the hot flushes that seem to come at the most embarrassing moments or just waking up soaked in sweat at night. The pounds start to pile on and it becomes really hard to lose them the way you used to. All of this can make you feel as if you are losing your true self somehow and let’s not even mention the crazy mood swings. You hardly recognise yourself when you look in the mirror or you feel like you’re disappearing and becoming invisible.

Due to our busy work and family lives, more women are now reporting experiencing the physical and emotional symptoms of stress and this has a negative impact on your menopause symptoms causing brain fog and weight gain. Now you know you’re not going mad, this is all about the hormonal changes going on during your menopause. But what can you do about it? In Menopause Version 1 your options were to take medication or put up with it. There was limited understanding of the effects of your food on your symptoms. Exercising and lifestyle changes were optional and your attitude was not considered to be significant. But in Smarter Menopause Version 2 you banish the disruptive symptoms that can creep up on you during your 40s and 50s. Smarter Menopause version 2 is about acknowledging your unique menopause experience and the simple changes you can make to your nutrition, lifestyle and attitude that will put an end to all these symptoms and transform your life.Â

I don’t want you to be one of the estimated 1.5 million women in the UK who are currently needlessly suffering with menopause symptoms.
Taking Back Control To Create A Smarter Menopause In a 2010 survey, 28% of women reported having to deal with stress. Because of the stress 49% experienced included poor sleep, 41% headaches, and 47% fatigue. The same survey shows that women are still using unhealthy foods to eat their way out of stress - unsuccessfully! Hot flashes are one of the most common symptoms that send women to see their doctors when they are going through the perimenopause.Â

Up to 85% of women experience hot flashes and of those, 70% experience them for a year and 30% for about 5 years. However, they can carry on for up to 7 years and that is way too long to suffer isn’t it? You don’t have to be a victim of your menopause anymore. It’s never too early to plan for a healthy menopause and it is never too late to have a healthy lifestyle. That’s why I will be telling you more about the practical changes you can make to your sleep, nutrition and lifestyle to bring you back into control of your life.

Then there’s the hot flushes. If you’ve never had a hot flush you may be wondering what all the fuss is about. If you have an intense hot flush it can feel like you’re having a heart attack and the heat can be like the centre of a volcano. Some women can experience this dozens of times a day. You’re about to discover more about the things that trigger hot flushes and how to avoid them. Plus I will be sharing a relaxation and visualisation technique with you to cool you down. More about that in Step 3.
The third symptom is weight change. Your body is changing shape and it becomes really hard to get rid of that unwanted weight the way you used to. You may be able to lose a few pounds to squeeze into that dress for the special occasion but then the pounds go back on...plus a few more.

There are reasons for this and I will be sharing them with you. I’ll also be explaining the most powerful actions you can take to get rid of the weight and keep it off. The great thing is that this will also help with your brain fog, sleep problems and hot flushes.
And finally, symptom 4 is mood swings and the negative effect these can have on your relationships, with your husband, your kids, at work, even with friends. It may feel like being a teenager again but this time nobody cuts you any slack because you’re an adult. Or you might feel like you’re becoming invisible. Your confidence is seeping away and you’re just not feeling like your true self. So let’s start by reminding ourselves of some of the nasty symptoms that can creep up on us during our 40's and keep us suffering well into our 50's. It can start with brain fog and poor memory, not being able to make a quick decision. You may find yourself feeling exhausted all of the time.
