TURN CLOCKS BACK Saturday evening November 2nd (Daylight savings time Begins at 2 AM on Sunday, November 3th) A Message From Pastor Carol‌ This past summer I went to the Comenius Weekend at Laurel Ridge as worship leader. We studied the way the early Moravians organized their view of Christianity so that it could be a living faith. Their goal was to live the Christian Life every day of every month and every hour of every day. They were so committed to this that they moved away from the cities so that they could free themselves of the stresses of life in the city where there was constant threat of war, religious persecution and political upheaval. In the country where they settled, there was peace and they could organize their lives as they wished with no one looking over their shoulders. This was important since they were trying to be religious in a different way than the prevailing church allowed. In Kunwald where they settled they made the Sermon on the Mount their rule of life. When the scripture said "Love your enemies!' Pray for those who hate
you." They would try to live in love of the most dangerous people in their lives. They were serious about realizing that everything they had came from the Father. Their belief system of essentials helped them do this. For them there were 6 Essentials of the faith. God the Father (the Creator) God the Son (the Redeemer) God the Holy Spirit (the Sustainer) Faith Hope Love If they had a problem in the community they would reflect on these Essentials and see where they were missing the mark. The first three are basic beliefs about who God is and what God has done. The second three are attributes of the Christian life that keep a Christian going in the right direction. When I behave with no faith, I get into trouble. When I act with no hope, here again I can get lost. When I show no love, I am not being a Christian. I am using the Ancient Unity and their emphasis on the Sermon on the Mount in our Youth Fellowship Programming this year. Our young people are learning the "attitudes" of a Christian in their study of the beatitudes. They are learning how to pray as Jesus taught us to pray. They are discovering the way our forebears would plant trees to symbolized their Faith, Hope and Love. There is a tree in Kunwald called Faith Hope and Love that the Moravians planted as they were expelled from their homes in faith and hope that they would one day return and as a symbol that they had been in this town for nearly 200 years. I wonder what life at Friedland would be like if we would concentrate on these Essentials. Every time we come into the building or onto the property, remember that the Father is our creator, the Son is our Redeemer and the Holy Spirit is our Sustainer. And what if we remembered that the way we are to act in this place and every place is in Faith, Hope and Love. I think things would change, don't you? Pastor Carol

News from Kenya God is in Kenya and doing well. The Ray of Hope family is doing great work. The Bible camp we had last weekend went great. We had several teenagers come to the Lord. Our water supply is great. All of our tanks are full. We now have a water tank for the pre-school. A group came to Ray of Hope and gave us money to redo the kitchen with more shelves and a better floor. Our cows should be here the first week of November. We ended up getting 3 cows. Two cows and a calf. We hope to be able to get milk by Christmas. Our garden is doing well. We have zucchini, tomatoes and corn/ The goats are still doing well. We are planning to come to the U.S. in March and April. Tracy was coning to Africa in the summer of 2014, but due to her health condition she is not able to travel. So we are trying to raise the money to come home for a short visit. Mon and Tracy would love for us to be home for Tracy’s wedding. We also would like to speak at churches and give them updates. Pray for us as we try to plan this trip. Everyone sends their blessings and love. Michael, Ceci and Blessing Tesh.
