FrogAsia came to being when two different companies, from two parts of the world, came together to make learning better for students all over Malaysia and the rest of the world. To build a world-class learning system relevant to the region, we work closely with our sister company, Frog Education. With their 16-year track record in integrating technology into schools in the UK, we are continually working together to enable access to a world-class learning system for students, parents and teachers across Malaysia. As of 2016, due to expanding needs across the region, we have built Frog Education Sdn. Bhd (FESB) to cater to the specific software development and deployment needs of Malaysia and the region.

ONE NATION, ONE PLATFORM Our first foray into the education scene in Malaysia was the 1BestariNet project, an effort to connect all schools across Malaysia to high speed Internet and an online learning platform. Through the 1BestariNet project, all government schools across Malaysia use our learning platform, Frog. These schools are connected to high speed mobile Internet, Yes 4G connectivity, from our sister company YTL Communications. By bringing Internet to the schools, the 1BestariNet project has also brought Internet to the surrounding communities, bridging the digital divide in the country.

However, our reach extends beyond just implementing technology. FrogAsia works hand in hand with local educators and organisations to reimagine education by integrating technology into teaching and learning to create better outcomes. As a YTL company, we are committed to building the right thing.
Change is part of our lives. We like to think of change as something that can turn things inside out, upside down - and that things work better because of it.
HERE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE
At FrogAsia, we’re passionate about the little improvements as much as we are about the big ones. From a student being able to watch videos assigned by his Maths teacher while eating breakfast - to a senior teacher trying something new by showing off beautifully designed infographics in her classroom. This is why every bit counts. It takes time to shift mindsets, to inspire a school to try new concepts on for size, to inspire educators and galvanise a nation of lifelong learners. We don’t always see the outcomes immediately, but we know why we’re here. And that makes all the difference.
The FrogAsia family is a collective of people doing amazing things. On the road with schools, refining our platforms, writing and designing material that touches people. We’re in it together and we know it. Yes, change is part of our work, and moving schools into new territory isn’t always easy - but burdens shared are burdens halved. Here, we express ourselves freely, yet thoughtfully. We laugh a lot, eat a lot (our pantry is a special place for us). You might want to remember this: we’re not afraid of the odd practical joke, either. We know, at the heart of it (pun intended), each of us love to see teachers feeling empowered, students loving learning and schools blossoming into hubs of growth. We enjoy it immensely. And that makes all the difference.

We are human, though. We make mistakes, we stumble - but we also stay curious and ask for support, guidance. We communicate openly, and we know we have each other’s back. We do the right thing. We start new things, and they’re seldom perfect to begin with - but we look closely, and we learn. We think and talk about how to make things better. We’re tweakers! We take the time we need to ensure that building the right thing, in the best way possible. This takes time, and we work consistently and speedily towards our goals. We’re proud of our work and are excited to share it with the world. We feel like we can do so because we stop to reflect, and we constantly challenge ourselves to think of how to make everything we do better and better. And that makes all the difference.

The Frog VLE
The Frog VLE is an award-winning, cloud-based virtual learning environment that has been designed to simplify and enhance teaching and learning, communication and administration. The tools that make up the Frog VLE can be utilised individually as a product. It can be combined in different ways to be used for any institution.

Teachers can use the Frog VLE to teach their lessons, give homework, and keep track of student performance virtually.
School Administrators can manage school calendars and create school notices via the Frog VLE.
Students can access the Frog VLE to obtain learning and revision material anytime, anywhere. They can also complete and submit homework assigned by their teachers as well as collaborate with each other.
While all schools within the 1BestariNet framework and private institutions have access to the entire toolset, the Frog VLE offers solutions to custom needs.

With their passion for a better tomorrow for their children, it is no surprise that parent-teacher associations in schools across the country yield some of the most empowering of fruits.
PARENT Confucius said, “every truth has four corners; as a teacher I give you one corner, and it is for you to find the other three." Indeed, a teacher can give students a ‘corner’, and students may need to find their way to understanding - but the journey is made all the easier with parents who engage with the school community and work with teachers to ‘tend the garden’.

Frog Teacher Advocates are ready to provide help, guidance and inspire teachers and administrators in their journey of implementing the Frog VLE in their schools. These teachers who are voluntarily involved, will receive guidance and training on the Hub Modules by FrogAsia’s Regional Implementation Consultants.

OUR PEOPLE The FrogAsia family is made of many different kinds of humans - and we like it that way! From thinkers, to writers, from creatives to technical support, it takes all kinds to move our engine. We do many different things to get to where we need to be, but we have a few things in common. For starters, we all feel the need to make a difference. Secondly, we enjoy all that we do. Finally, and most importantly, we try doing things differently, together. FrogAsia’s Regional Implementation Consultants are our representatives in every state across Malaysia. They are intermediaries between schools, providing advice on the implementation of the Frog VLE. Our ICs also conduct courses in Hubs and train teachers who are interested in becoming Advocates. At our fortnightly Frog Focus formation (try saying that four times fast!), we come together to catch up, celebrate our successes, see how we can do better and take stock of our impact across the country.

In June 2015, FrogAsia partnered with St Anne’s College, the University of Oxford for a student version of Leaps of Knowledge to encourage Malaysian students to aspire to further their studies at the University of Oxford and other top British universities. Students were given a glimpse into the subjects taught at university through short subject lectures by the 17 professors and also learned more about living and furthering studies in the UK. The objective of the conference was to raise aspirations amongst students.
The Leaps of Knowledge: Your World ReimaginED conference held on 28 May 2016 was centred around the 17 Global Goals and saw over 500 students attend. Three speakers took to the stage to inspire the students - Safeena Hussain, founder and Executive Director at Educate Girls, John-son Oei , founder of Extraordinary People Impact Community (EPIC) and d’Arcy Lunn, founder of Teaspoons of Change. Students were then brought together in teams at workshops held by MaGIC, to ideate and start social projects in support of the Global Goals. The conference also had carnivals with booths themed after a Global Goal as a way to creatively introduce the objective of that Goal.

We give opportunity to students to connect and level the playing field. For example, we ran Malaysia’s largest nationwide online spelling competition involved 70,000 student participants, who were supported by over 2,500 teachers, from 2,000 participating schools all across Sabah, Sarawak and Peninsula Malaysia.

Quality education should be free to anyone and everyone. Young to old, rich to poor. 54Cs work with the street children of Kuala Lumpur enables children who have survived some of the worst things this world can throw at them a chance at quality education to help them grow and become the people they deserve to be.
FrogAsia supports teachers in community schools in the area of language and technology in the classroom at 54C, a communal learning space in the heart of Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur. It was launched in December 2015 by YTL Foundation, and besides teacher support, offers fun, creative and engaging after school educational programmes for children aged 7-18.
FrogAsia conducts digital, literacy, motivational, skills enrichment and academic workshops at CLiC (Creative Learning and IT Centre), a community space located inside the Urban Transformation Centre at Sentul Raya. With a focus on strengthening English skills, the space is designed to enrich the learning experiences for the Sentul community. As a collaboration between YTL’s Sentul Raya Sdn Bhd (SRSB), Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and the Education Ministry, about 5,400 underprivileged families and more than 25,000 students from 34 participating schools in the neighbourhood are expected to benefit from the learning centre. It has been equipped with high-speed YES 4G wireless broadband and Google Chromebook computers, as well as multimedia learning videos, e-books and printed books. CLiC is located at Level 2, UTC Sentul in Sentul Perdana, and is open from 8.30am to 6pm daily.

Beyond just an ordinary place to read or study, CLIC provides spaces that allow collaborative learning, small group discussion, meaningful interaction and exposure to learning through technology. Free classes and workshops are being organised for the children to develop their languages, skills and potential. Some of them even find it their second home!
